In the past, when Hinata saw Sasuke drinking or Sasuke drunk, she always thought the appeal she saw in him would fade completely.
She didn't like to drink, and, when she had to, she'd reserve it for other people's special occasions – even then, she'd take a few sips after the toast. Almost everyone she knew would have alcohol from time to time, but it never bothered her like when Sasuke did it.
He didn't get aggressive or anything too obscene, but he would get spacey, disoriented, and…odd. And he drank a lot in one sitting. So, maybe she was bothered by how much Sasuke would consume more than anything. She didn't find it very attractive.
However, she noticed Sasuke would only drink a certain brand of saké; he tried others here and there and didn't particularly care for any. He was stuck on a brand Kakashi himself made. Apparently, his sensei was the the one to introduce him to alcohol, and his own special recipe is what Sasuke tried first. Sasuke asked for the recipe often (and if he planned on making it himself, then she was certainly surprised because she never would), but Kakashi declined again and again and insisted on making it himself.
And he made it Sasuke's every request.
Hinata got to a point where Sasuke's non-disruptive drinking bothered her so much, she contemplated on leaving him, but then something interesting happened.
Kakashi and Naruto brought a passed out Sasuke home one night, and, while Naruto tasked himself with putting the Uchiha to bed, Hinata pulled Kakashi aside to talk to him privately. She didn't know how to word herself, but she asked if he would stop making Sasuke saké as politely and firmly as possible.
The man stared at her for a moment, a smile spreading beneath his mask, and gestured for her to come closer. "You don't have to worry about him."
"Yes, but-"
Kakashi chuckled, waving his hand. "The saké he loves so much is just sparkling apple juice with vinegar."
Hinata blinked, eyes wide. "Are you…? Then why does he act so…strange?"
Kakashi shrugged. "Placebo effect."
Hinata looked over as Naruto struggled to maneuver her boyfriend's limp body under the blankets.
Kakashi tapped her shoulder, earning her attention. "Between you and me, I do the same with the other two." He laughed, rolling his eyes. "I give Sakura sparkling pomegranate juice with some lemon and lime juice mixed in. Naruto has sparkling red grape juice – nothing else."
Now, when Sasuke drinks, Hinata would smile a little.
