Oh god…

Chapter 11: Chuck

"Sam and Bobby left? Where did they go?" Lily asked.

"They went to try to find a lead on Lucifer. Some rare library in San Francisco or something, I don't know. They start talking about books and I doze off. Cass and Jack are still here though." Dean nodded to the main room and Lily looked down in utter disappointment.

"That's good, I guess." She said, trying her best to sound happy, but failing miserably at it.

"What's going on with you three? It's been weird between you guys ever since Charlie left."

"I don't know! I just can't shake the tension. I'm not even sure why it's there!"

"Well, either talk to them or push past it. It's making me uncomfortable." He said this and left her to join them in the main room. She hesitated for a second and then followed him.

She wanted so badly to push past it.

"Hey, Lily, can we talk?" Jack asked her before she barely even entered the room.

"Uh, yeah, sure. Alone?"

"That'd be great." Jack smiled and went to the kitchen with her. She shut the door behind her, hoping no one would hear this embarrassment of a conversation.

"So, what's up?" She asked him but was begging silently that he wouldn't mention the awkwardness.

"What's the deal with you and Castiel?"

"I'm sorry, what?" She thought it was going to be about all three of them. Was the tension just between her and Castiel? She wasn't even sure anymore.

"Do you like him or something?"

"What's that now?" She couldn't believe what she was hearing.

"Don't play dumb. I see it all over your faces when you look at each other."

"What?" He couldn't be serious.

"Just be straight with me, I know we aren't together, but I'm your best friend and he's kind of like my dad. It's a bit weird for me."

"Oh god…" She held onto the chair to steady herself.

A loud thud came from the main room and they forgot their conversation to rush and see what was going on.

"Hey, fellas." Chuck said nervously to Dean and Castiel, as he ascended the steps with a six pack in his arm and a bottle of whiskey in the other.

"Chuck? What are you doing here?" Dean asked him.

"I kind of ran into some trouble and was hoping to bunk with you guys for a few days. I brought an offering." He held up the six pack to Dean and he took it happily.

"Thanks, man! Yeah, you can stay, but what's going on?"

"Well, apparently, after the fans found out my real name, they discovered my address and decided to camp out until I came home. I drove by and saw people setting up tents, so I kind of just kept driving…Hi, I'm Chuck." He finished, noticing Jack and Lily entering the room and giving them a small wave.

"I'm Lily."

"Jack." They waved back and gave him a curious look.

"Chuck, did you call the police?" Dean asked, ignoring Jack and Lily.

"Uh, yeah, I thought about that, but then I didn't."

"Why not?"

"The police don't really like me, they consider me a loose cannon."

"Why?"

"I think they've seen me buy one too many bottles of…um…liquid courage."

"Been there. Okay, well you can stay here until you figure something out."

"Thanks, Dean. Hey, where's Sam?"

"Research with Bobby in California."

"So, who's Lily and Jack?" He half whispered to Dean, looking at them still standing there, watching him, "They seem strange." He took a drink from his bottle.

"Oh, they're cool, it's Lucifer's son and his friend from college."

"Oh okay…wait what? Lucifer has a son? Is he…evil?"

"Nah, more like the opposite."

"Alright, sure, totally," He took another drink, "And he went to college? Seems unnecessary."

"He wanted a 'normal' life. I don't know." Dean shook his head in disbelief.

"We're right here." Jack said.

"Right, so, do you guys want some whiskey?"

"I'll pass." Jack said.

"Yes. Hell yes." Lily said, going over to him and taking the bottle. Dean handed her a glass and she filled it, catching Castiel's eye right before swallowing.

"I don't mean to judge, because glass house and stuff, but are you okay?" Chuck asked her.

"Rough morning." She told him before taking another glass. Dean took the bottle from her before she could pour a third.

"Okay, the hell with this, you guys need to work this out. Chuck, let's go to the kitchen."

Chuck nodded and followed him to the kitchen, leaving Jack, Castiel, and Lily alone in the main room.

When they got to the kitchen, they sat across from each other and Dean started pouring them shots.

"So, how are you doing, Dean?"

"The new ones keep me on my toes."

"They seem nice, but what's with the weirdness?"

"What are we, gossip queens in a salon?" He chuckled, shook his head and took a shot.

"That bad, huh?"

"I'm not sure, I think Jack digs Lily, but Lily might like her men a bit…older." Dean shook his head and poured himself a double.

"What a mess, and I would know." He took a drink and Dean poured him another.

"But Cass? Really?"

"Don't worry, I'm sure he sees her as a kid."

"I'm not worried, I mean she's an adult, it's just I didn't think he'd be her type."

"You thought it'd, be you?"

"No, man, that'd be weird."

"Because of Castiel."

"What?"

"Nothing."

"You could go back to your happy campers, ya know."

"Oh, god, please don't make me go back." He started to panic.

"Chill, I wouldn't do that. Man, you've got problems."

"You don't know the half of it."

"Thank god for that."

I know this is lame, but it's hard for me to write Chuck! I didn't realize this until now. He's one of my favorites, but I feel like I haven't seen enough of him to do it justice. If that makes sense? I don't know! He'll probably appear in other chapters, this is just too much pressure! Okay, enough babbling.
