Trigger warning?

Depression and self harm. (IN THIS CHAPTER)

Kise's phone blared lively, waking him up roughly.

Letting the feeling of a cold, hard floor seep into his bones, opening him to the stinging sunlight that shone through the curtain, revealing him to a tomorrow he didn't want to see.

The events of yesterday relieved itself in the back of Kise's brain, making the need to get up subside.

"I'll stay home today."

Kise slowly propped himself up, standing to go change into more comfortable clothing.

With a loud thud, Kise landed on his bed. The coldness of the soft sheets caressed Kise's over heating body. Kise continued to maneuver himself under the abundance of pillows and sheets. Letting his mind slip as he fell into a prolonged slumber.

"Neh, Dai-chan. Do you know where Kise is? He hasn't been at school."

Momoi's worried voice shook Aomine from his wandering mind.

"Kise wasn't here today?"

Aomine didn't have a clue, he had skipped first period and planned on skipping second as well.

Was he sick?

Aomine relayed yesterday's activities, looking for any sign of illness.

Maybe the food poisoning had caught up to him?

"Maybe it was the food poisoning from lunch yesterday, Satsuki."

"Food poisoning? Kise couldn't have food poisoning, he didn't eat lunch yesterday."

He didn't eat lunch?

"Why?"

Aomine felt slightly alarmed. Did Kise have anything to eat yesterday?

"I have no idea. He just said he didn't seem all that hungry and left the lunchroom."

Aomine opened his mouth to speak, but was interrupted by the sounding alarm of the next class.

Momoi collected her things I she hoisted herself up from the roof floor.

"Dai-chan, please contact Kise for me and ask how he is doing."

Aomine grunted in agreement as Momoi turned and headed towards her next class.

As the door to the rooftop closed, Aomine dug in his pocket and pulled out his phone.

Since the absence of Kise's text, his phone had been pretty useless.

It's like their whole entire relationship was starting to slow down. Should they even stay together anymore?

Day and night, Aomine thought about if he should break up with Kise. But then again. Everyday and night, Aomine remembered how much he love Kise, how cute Kise could be, how jealous he gets when others touch him.

Aomine started to dial in a little message...

Where are you?

Are you okay?

Do you want me to come over?

Kise's eyes fluttered open at the sound of his phone ringing.

"Didn't I already turn off the alarm?"

Shuffling himself over, he reached for his phone.

"Oh."

His heart fluttered, but then felt heavy again.

It was Aomine, Aomine texted him first.

Kise was quick to respond...

I'm at home.

Yea, I'm fine.

No, you don't have to, if you don't want too.

He stared at his phone for a moment before setting it down again.

It had been so long since Aomine had texted him first.

No.

It had been so long since they've had any form of true conversation.

Day and night, Kise thought of different ways to make Aomine happy. But then again. Every day and night, Kise feared his presence would be a burden, he feared Aomine would no longer wish to have him around, he fear that Aomine would leave.

Kise let his phone slip out of his hands as he closed his eyes again.

He no longer had the motivation to keep awake for a reply text.

I'm at home.

Yea, I'm fine.

No, you don't have to, if you don't want too.

"Nah! Is that a 'yes come,' or a 'no, don't come'?"

The frustration ate away at Aomine.

He's fine?

Why did he go to the nurse yesterday?

Why isn't he here today?

Why did he say he had food poisoning when he didn't even eat?

Why didn't he eat?

What is going on?

Aomine hoisted himself of the ground, marching down the stairs of the school, leaving early.

Aomine had only been to Kise's house once, and when he says once for a few seconds to pick Kise up for school.

It's been a while, thank god his memory didn't fail him now.

There was a light dinging at Kise's front door, announcing that someone was there and wish to come in.

A door bell.

It was a door bell.

Each little tune punched Kise in the ears. He felt the anger swell inside him, stabbing at his sides. His head felt airless while his body ached from a strange night on the ground. The doorbell continued to notify Kise of a person's presence, but before long, Kise had become accustomed to the obnoxious noise and gradually fell back to sleep.

"Dammit Kise."

Aomine scuffled around in front of the unopening door, lifting up plants and and doormats, looking for a spare key.

"Finally!"

Aomine inserted the key into the door's lock, letting himself in.

The air was colder in here then it was on the outside. Though the apartment was nicely kept, an air of abandonment lingered around.

Aomine walked in circles, searching for Kise's room.

There was a door, painted differently from the others, at the end of the hall.

"Kise?"

Aomine twisted the doorknob slowly, letting the closed room air out.

"Oh, he's sleeping."

Aomine approached Kise's bed slowly, trying not to step on creaky floorboards.

Kise's blankets and pillows wrapped around his body as his hair covered his face. His blue short sleeved t-shirt exposed his arms that were stretched out above his head.

Aomine crept closer and closer to Kise's face, getting ready to slap him awake until he saw how Kise's face really was.

The dark bags that he thought had gone away.

The red puffy eyes.

The slightly dried lips.

Slight reminiscent of tear stained cheeks.

Aomine's eyebrows furrowed in confusion, but more so in worry.

His eye's started to move upwards, scanning the arms that laid spread out in all directions.

The furrowed eyebrows were dismissed from their position, but now took one that was completely in fear.

Nice, long marks ripped through the porcelain skin, not any particular pattern. Not in simple lines. Just in any direction they wanted to take. They weren't faint lines either, they were clear as day.

How deep were they?

The cuts didn't go across the wrist, but down in long lines. Decorated with slight jagged turns.

Both arms.

Kise rustled in his bed, he abruptly pulled his arms down under the covers, pulling them up so that now they covered him shoulders down.

He was still sleeping.

Why?

"Kise?"

I don't like how this chapter was written. Not one bit, but I seriously needed to update, since I planned to get a bunch of other types of writing done for my side blog. (It's not gonna happen, but I'm trying)

I'm thinking about ending it, maybe 5-7 more chapters until. I'll start to put little warnings and hints so you guys can piece the ending together yourself.

I also think I'm going to put an ending ending chapter after the last one, maybe to pull it all together...
