A/N: So sorry for not updating this story! My laptop broke a few months ago and I JUST got a new one! Glad to get back on track and update this story! Sorry again and enjoy!
A knock on Elsa's door made her angry. The last thing she wanted was company, but she remembered to keep her temper and stood up to answer it. A servant brought Elsa a letter and she opened it. The date was from yesterday and from her cousin, Rapunzel. Elsa hesitated to read it since she was still lamenting her prince's death. But, she knew anything from Rapunzel would cheer her up.
As she read, her heart began to race. The letter said that a stranger tried to return Rapunzel's journal, found in her tower, but disappeared. Now, she and Eugene had left for the tower to get more information and get more questions answered. She wanted to write back and say that it was pointless since the stranger was dead.
Elsa knew it was Hans who found the journal, and it hurt her so much to know he had come so close to freedom. No doubt, Pitch captured him and punished him by killing him in front of her.
But it didn't matter anymore. Hans' body was being prepared to be buried properly. Elsa wiped her tears and put the letter on her desk. She would write back later. For now, she wasn't in the mood.
There was another knock on her door. She cleared her throat and told them to come in. Anna stepped into the room with a confused look on her face.
"What is it, Anna?" Elsa asked.
"Elsa, I think you should take a look at this." Anna replied.

Eugene took Hans to his room to watch him and keep him safe. He let Hans shower and put on a new set of clothes. Eugene was glad that they found who they were looking for, but wasn't fully aware of what they were up against. He knew Gothel was a monster, but how had she come back from the dead? He decided to ask Hans about it.
"My mother was dead?" Hans asked.
"Yeah, she used the flower to keep her alive. Once I cut Rapunzel's hair, she grew old and her years came back to her." Eugene replied.
"But, how did she come back?" Hans asked.
"That's what I want to know. You think...no, that's stupid."
"What? Tell me."
Eugene shrugged. "You think that...your dad had something to do with it?"
"I can't be sure. My father is very powerful, but they've never talked to me of how they met or their life before coming to find me in the dungeon." Hans replied.
"That makes no sense to me."
"What do you mean?"
"Why did- I mean, how did you- Sorry, I have a ton of questions."
Hans shook his head. "No, no, don't worry. Ask away."
"Well, how did you grow up? You said you never met your real parents until they found you in that dungeon. I'm confused about that."
"It's a very long story. I'll tell you what Gothel told me. She told me that she gave birth to me and I was cursed with fire powers. To protect me from my father's strictness and the fear of being an outcast, they gave me to another family. How they did it, I don't know. But, I was raised as a prince and with an abusive and broken family. My mother died when I was young and my 12 older brothers always picked on me."
"That's rough. I'm sorry." Eugene said.
Hans sighed. "It was pretty rough. Well, anyway, I grew up there and kept my power to myself because I didn't want to hurt anyone. I wore these gloves to protect people and I never really practiced my powers. Grown up, I went to Arendelle for the coronation. There, I met Anna and fell in love with her. It was a childish love but love nonetheless. Elsa froze her heart by accident and needed an act of true love to save her. A voice inside of me told me to...refuse her...and I listened."
"Why? Didn't you love her?"
"I did. But, the voice was too powerful and I didn't feel control. I now know that it was my father inside of me all along."
"Can he still control you?"
"Not really. I hear him sometimes, but I've been fighting back for a long time and he's losing his control over me. Elsa helped me to see that. But...she thinks I'm dead now."
"What do you mean?"
"It was an act that my father did to stop her from trying to find me. It seems like he threatened to kill me if she was around me. I can't be too sure, though."
Eugene shook his head. "I know I'll say it a lot, but I'm really sorry."
"It's okay. I'll see Elsa soon and tell her I'm sorry. That's all I want right now."
Eugene smiled. "You really do care about her, huh?"
"I love her."
They both exchanged smiles. Now, it was Eugene's turn. Hans asked for his story and Eugene hesitated.
"Come on, you know everything about me. All the dirt. Now, tell me about you." Hans insisted.
"Okay, but just know I haven't even told Rapunzel all of it. It's a...well, it's a bit of a downer."
"I'm listening." Hans smiled.
"Well, I was abandoned when I was a baby. I was raised in an orphanage, but it was a very poor one. I never knew anything about my parents or who they were. There was tons of kids and we barely survived each day. We almost had no food or water and went to bed hungry a lot. I was the oldest one there so I was kind of forced into helping out. Every night, I read this book to the younger kids. I don't know why they liked it so much. I guess the hero gave them hope."
"What's it called?" Hans asked.
"The Tales of Flynnigan Rider. Swashbuckling rogue, richest man alive, and not bad with the ladies, either. Not that he'd ever brag about it, of course." Eugene chuckled.
"Sounds like he had a huge impact on you." Hans said.
"He did. I became a thief when I left the orphanage and tried to live my life like Flynn did. I even changed my name to his. Weird, I know, but I grew up as a kid with nothing. So, it just...I don't know...it seemed like a better option." Eugene shrugged and stared at the ground.
"So, you know a thing or two about being alone. Flynn Rider, huh? Not bad, but I think Eugene suits you." Hans said, patting him on the back.
"Thanks. Rapunzel said the same thing" Eugene said.
Rapunzel came into the room with a big smile on her face.
"Who's ready to sail to Arendelle?" she asked.
