Chung

We all sat gathered around a table in Elsword's tent which happened to be the biggest for some reason. He looked pretty nervous as he sat next to his sister who kept looking at him from time to time and blushing.

'Hmmm, wonder what that's about?' I asked myself as I watched Elesis lean a little closer to Elsword who seemed to watch everybody first before carefully; so as not to be noticed, it seemed held her hand in his.

"Well, does anyone know a fun place to have a vacation from all this demon hunting?" Rena said as she tapped on the map in front of us.

It showed the entire continent of Lurensia and my home country…Hamel not too far away.

I found myself staring at the map where my home was wistfully and before I knew it I had my hand resting gently over Hamel as a single tear fell down from my face.

Ara looked at me in concern as I kept staring until Rena called my name. I shook myself out of my stupor and turned to Rena.

"I'm sorry, Rena; I got a little distracted. Can you say it again?" I asked.

"I said; do you have any ideas for where we should vacation?" she said with a slight sigh.

"Uhm….what do we have so far?" I asked as she gestured at the board behind her. On it were smalls scraps of paper that read; 'Beach,' 'Elder Inn,' and 'Hamel Resort.' My eyes widened at the last one as I fought down my emotions.

'Damn it, Chung! Get a grip; you swore that you'd never return home until you could free it of demons. You made an oath to avenge father and until then, you won't use your true name; ever!' I thought as I clenched my fist tightly and took a few deep breaths.

"I…..really don't know. The beach sounds pretty fun, I guess" I said trying to keep my voice light and cheerful as I put on a fake smile.

Rena thought about it for a minute and raised her hand.

"All for the beach; raise your hand" she said as everyone raised their hands.

"Well then, it's settled. Everyone, pack two weeks' worth of clothes and a swimsuit" she said as we all left to our respective tents.

"Chung, what happened to you in there?" Ara asked as she sat next to me on the bed.

"What do you mean?" I asked innocently.

She grabbed my face and turned my head towards her so that I was looking her straight in the eyes.

"Chung, I love you and care about you; so I'm worried for you. What's going on?" she asked seriously as I noticed the deep concern in her eyes. I sighed dejectedly as she let go of my face. I placed my elbows on my knees with my hands closed together in a fist as I looked down at the ground.

"I never told any of you the full-truth about what happened back where I came from. So, I'm going to tell you know the real story about what happened that day. When I left Hamel in ruins….all because of my cowardice" I said as the memories flooded back through my mind.

I was 13 again and stormed off from the mansion in a fit of anger at my father.

"What's wrong with him?! Does he think I'm a kid! I know I was wrong for that but really he was asking for it! Why am I the only one who gets punished! Why?!" I roared in anger as I slammed my fists into a training dummy.

Suddenly, I heard screams as I rushed off to get my Freituner and Destroyer. When I came back out of the mansion I was unprepared for the horrors I was about to see; Hamel was under attack. The white city of water was aflame, the fire casting dancing shadows that only accentuated the terror that gripped my body.

Rage unlike any I had felt before coursed through my veins as I rushed into my city to see demons attacking us once more. Only this time; they were in a far greater number with a stronger leader. His skin was black as midnight with snow-white hair that reached his lower back and dark horns that protruded from the sides of his head through his hair. He grinned maliciously as his light red sword slashed through Red Knight after Red Knight and his blood-red eyes seemed to glow. He wore black and violet red armor with chains decorating it around his neck and waist.

As he cut down another Red Knight he turned towards me with a cruel smile on his face as he lifted his hand towards me, palm facing outwards. Suddenly, his hand slipped into a claw-shape and I felt a tearing sensation through my armor as I was thrown forward. He slammed the hilt of his blade into my chest, leaving me breathless as I fell to my knees.

"Heh. Learn this name well boy, I am Ran; the one who will kill you" He laughed as he went to drive his sword into my chest. I was paralyzed with fear as I closed my eyes, praying that I would somehow make it out of this alive when I the sound of metal hitting metal rang through my ears. My eyes shot open as I looked up to see a cannon blocking Ran's sword from delivering the final blow. The cannon spun around; forcing Ran to leap away as my father stepped in front of me and slammed his cannon down onto the ground.
