Soon (Finally)

One night after a full day, Luka watched Jahara as she slept. She looked so innocent, beautiful, and calm. He smiled. Quietly, so as to not ruin the moment, he walked over and gently kissed her cheek. "Soon, Jahara," he whispered, "soon."

He stepped of the room and closed the door. "Are you going to ask her any time soon?" Phoebe emerged from the shadows.

"That's none of your business, Phoebe." Luka did not want that conversation to start again.

"Oh come on, Luka. You guys have known each other since the war started; before, in fact. You've been dating for a couple months and both of you know of each other's feelings. So why haven't you?"

"Not so loud, Sis; she's asleep." Luka sat down at the table to be joined by Phoebe. "You know, Phoebe, it is past your bedtime."

"Then it is past yours too."

"Not necessarily," Luka retorted. Then an evil thought penetrated his mind. "Phoebe, if I ask her and she says yes, you're not coming to the wedding because of how you're acting. I suggest you go to bed."

Phoebe was gone before he could say 'just kidding'. Luka smiled and nearly laughed at her.

The next morning after Phoebe had gone to hang with the Chasers, Luka managed to convince Jahara to come on 'a short walk' with him. If she had paid enough attention, she would have noticed that he kept checking his pocket as if making sure that something was still there.

After walking for a little while, Jahara paused. "Still tired from everything?" Luka asked.

Jahara nodded. "It was much unexpected. It still freaks me out, sometimes." She leaned against a nearby tree and slowly slid to the ground.

Luka knelt by her and reached into his pocket once more. This time, he brought the object out. "Jahara," he was barely able to speak above a whisper. "I love you very much." Luka opened the little box. "Will you marry me?"

Jahara's eyes went wide and slightly gasped as everything unfolded. The ring was a silver band with diamond crystals that formed a heart. "Yes, Luka, I will," she managed to say. They tightly embraced and kisses often got exchanged. A moment was taken for the ring to be slid onto Jahara's finger then the happy couple pretty much skipped home.

That night after Phoebe and Jahara were asleep, Luka slipped outside to the front porch. Phoebe had been ecstatic when she was told at dinnertime. Luka couldn't help but chuckle at her reaction. His train of thoughts was broken as someone came up to him.

"Take of her, Luka. I trust you so don't give me any reason not to."

Luka's eyes met a set of aqua eyes that had seen many years. "I will, Jerad."

(Wow, this was a hard chapter, I don't know why though. It must have been the proposal. If that was the case then it should be easy from here on out.

Just to make sure that I don't confuse anybody too much, there were a few references to the sequel, I'm planning for Memories in this chapter. There probably will be a few more.

It's crazy, this story is almost finished and I'm not even half way through Meeting Hyun. Sheesh, as of now there's just over 5,000 words in this one and about 13,000 in my other one. Hmph, I wonder what the stats will be when both are finished… I'm not going to try and think about that- it's a brain fryer.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed and please, never hesitate to ask questions or voice concerns or anything like that. I want to be helpful as much as possible.

Merry Christmas everybody!)
