Day 2- Stay at Sea Port

After thinking about his question for a little while, she wasn't sure if she was comfortable enough to call him by his real name when they were alone or not.

Rather, she wasn't too sure if she would come and visit him much more after this event. Imagining all of the teasing that he'd give her, made her feel apprehensive.

The fact was that he reminded her a lot of Yamamoto, and she didn't even refer to him by his given name. She always called him by this last name. In a sense, it would be unfair to Yamamoto?

In some… weird, roundabout way.

Still, she didn't want to outright deny it, so she was going to play it safe and take the middle route.

"Ah, will it be okay if I think about it a little bit? I guess I feel a little bit embarrassed to do so since we've only just met." Haru admitted shyly.

Kaipan's eyes shifted downwards for a moment and he didn't say anything for a few seconds, but he lifted his head back up in no time and smiled. "Ahaha! That's fine! Now that I think about it, it was a really weird question to spring onto someone that I'd just met. Sorry about that." He laughed cheerfully.

Somehow feeling a bit awkward, Haru chuckled quietly along with him.

Then, Kaipan's eyes narrowed and his face grew serious in nature. Haru has seen this facial expression on his face a few times:

He was either playing in a game, or he was getting ready to fight someone.

Feeling apprehensive, she felt as her entire body tensed up, readying herself to run for her life if needed be.

He lifted his hand to his mouth in a motion that he wanted her to be quiet as he slowly crept over to the closed door without a sound.

He pressed his ear to the door to hear what was behind it before he put his hand on the door and opened it with one swift, quick motion. In came falling a few of his crewmates.

"What were you doing?" He asked.

While Haru couldn't see his face as he was facing away from her, she could still tell that he was a bit upset by the sound of his voice.

"See? I told you that he'd hear us!" "I think the problem was with you shifting around too much!" "I couldn't hear anything! I couldn't hear Cap'n speak!" The men argued among themselves as Haru stared at them with a stupefied look.

How long have they been outside listening in to their conversation?

One of the men who had been outside hadn't fallen over like the rest of his comrades. Instead, he was holding a tray in his hands.

"Captain, it was time to eat and I was going to deliver you your food, but these guys said something about how they could hear the lass screaming about something. They were too scared to just walk in so they crowded around the door." He informed Kaipan of the situation.

Knowing now that they didn't have any ill intentions, Kaipan felt his shoulders relax and he heaved a heavy sigh.

"Guess I should have known that you guys would have been worried about her. Next time, just knock and come in. Don't just huddle out the door like that. You know how I feel about people sneaking around." He briefly scolded them quickly before forgiving them.

The men on the ground finally picked themselves off the floor and dusted themselves off before stepping to the side to let the other guy through, who handed off the tray to Kaipan.

"Are you good with Sushi?" He asked showing the two plates of sushi on the tray.

At this time, Haru was wondering what kind of pirate ship would eat sushi as a meal. Did they even have the proper facilities in order to cook rice?

They surely had plenty of seafood around them, but… what of the other ingredients? Vinegar? The Nori?

That's when Haru recalled that currently she was stuck in an alternate dream-like world.

Perhaps this is how pirates in this world worked.

'Even in another world, Yamamoto can't separate himself from sushi.' Haru giggled at the thought, vaguely remembering that when they were all blasted into the future, Yamamoto had attempted to make sushi as well while the girls were on their strike.

He really looked up to his father.

"O-oh, I love sushi! T-thank you for also preparing my share." Haru thanked the person who had just handed off the tray.

Giving her a quick, side-long glance, the man curtly nodded his head in response.

He stopped giving Haru his attention, and returned it to his boss, Kaipan.

"The mates outside could hear the lass screaming at ye. Stop teasing her so much. The other mates are worried." He warned.

Kaipan merely smiled and laughed it off. Understanding the situation now, he nodded his head and shooed the guy away with a wave of the hand.

With a quick nod, the guy left the room and closed the door behind him.

"He's my second in command. He looks after me and the rest of the crew a lot. If they are worried about something, they always throw him my way to voice their worries, haha. They're all good guys." Kaipan chuckled once again as he popped a piece of salmon sushi into his mouth. "He also makes really good sushi." He added as a side comment.

He handed her one of the plates with sushi on it before he sat back down on top of the barrel he was just on.

The two of them started to eat the food in relative silence, asking each other small questions every once in a while, such as what their favorite foods were, or their favorite colors.

It seemed that even in this world, Kaipan really liked Milk Bibimbap, which to her, sounded like an evil combination of food.

Eventually the conversation stopped as Haru found herself getting lost in her thoughts.

At first, Haru was surprised that they had also prepared her share of food as well, but then recalled the fact that they were both pirates but also followers of a 'Robin Hood' like character.

They travelled around the seas, while gathering riches and dispersing them out among the poor. When she thought of it that way, it made sense that they were generous and considerate enough to also think about her.

This made Haru mentally giggle, as it seemed like something that Yamamoto would do.

Seeing familiar faces did calm her down, but she still felt anxious about this world that she was just thrown into. Was there any guarantee that she'd be able to save this world and go back to her own world?

How much time has passed by since she had collapsed?

Was it just that her soul was here? Maybe she has disappeared and she's now a missing person? Regardless, her parents must be worried sick.

She wanted to be able to help the people of this world, but being told that she was the only one who could save them… made her confidence in her abilities plummet. This is an entire world they are talking about.

With his perceptive nature, Kaipan could easily tell that something was bothering Haru, but he wasn't quite sure how to go about asking her about it. Eventually, he decided to outright ask her about it. It wasn't really in his character to try to beat around the bush.

"Is there something bothering you? Wanna talk about it?" He asked.

Instantly this question brought Haru out of her thoughts and instead to focusing on Kaipan's question.

With a small sigh, "Haru is just thinking about how she has to 'save this world,' but she doesn't know how she can do that. She's just an average girl, and I just… want to go back home. I miss my family and friends." Haru admitted her thoughts.

It was likely because of Kaipan being like Yamamoto, she knew that he would be understanding and would be willing to listen to her thoughts.

"This world is a wonderful place, but there is no place where I can call 'home'. Some people here may look like my friends from back home, but they are not the same. I feel so lonely and scared being here all by myself." She continued.

Kaipan could gather that even though Haru made herself out to be this strong and positive girl, she still was full of many worries.

She was taken away from her home world and was told to save a completely new world. Anyone would be filled with panic.

Some would be stuck in the denial phase, unwilling to do anything with their lives, and surely not bothering to try to get used to the new world.

From what he's seen thus far Haru was doing the exact opposite. She was trying to understand this new world and to get used to it.

She didn't want to run away from this duty that was placed upon her without her agreement.

It was very subtle, but he noticed that her hands were shaking a little bit and her eyes shone with great anxiety. This girl was doing a good job at bottling up her emotions. She was stronger than she appeared.

Seeing her try so hard to appear strong in front of others made Kaipan respect her and want to support her.

With a single, swift movement, Kaipan hopped off the barrel he was just sitting on and placed a piece of fatty tuna on her plate. He noticed that she seemed to like Tuna, so he figured that it would cheer her up a bit.

Also, she may not have noticed it just yet, but she had already finished her plate of sushi, and her hand kept roaming around the plate for more as she was absentmindedly thinking and speaking out her thoughts.

She accepted the piece with silently embarrassed gratitude.

Having not known any other way to show her his support, Kaipan lifted his hand and patted Haru on top of her head. Everyone liked to be pat on the head, right? Maybe he was wrong? Were girls different? He had no idea.

Peering down at her face, it didn't appear that it had upset her, so he figured that it was okay.

"You're strong, Haru. I'm not sure what I'd do if I was in your same situation. I don't have any real words of advice to give you, other than: your heart will always lead you in the right direction, and it's up to your mind to follow the path it gives you." Kaipan said with a smile.

Reflecting on his words, she felt that it resonated with her mind somehow.

Believe in your heart, as it will lead you in the right direction, but it's up to her mind to interpret the path that has been laid out for her. That means that she should follow her instincts to guide her to the hints she needs, and to then use her head for the rest, right?

Not meaning to brag or anything, but Haru had a good head on her shoulders.

Those were some wise words coming from the Yamamoto look-alike, Kaipan.

"I remembered it from a fortune that someone gave to me once, aha!" He finally admitted where these words of wisdom that he just gave to her came from.

Figures, he couldn't come up with something like that on his own. It was an endearing attempt to console her.

Haru giggled at Kaipan's attempt and felt grateful to have talked to him about this. "Haru will do her best then. Thank you, Kaipan." She grinned.

Haru looked to see that the time zone had changed once again and it was now night.

She definitely should be headed 'home' now

"It may be dangerous to walk home alone at night. Want me to walk you home?"

a.) "If you wouldn't mind doing so, that would be wonderful."

b.) "I'll be fine! I know how to defend myself, so don't worry about it."

c.) "No thank you."
