Hey guys welcome to chapter 11.
I really have no idea what to say so let's get on to it!
Ch.11
Sora and Riku nodded as the three of them walked over to the far corner of the District. Once the three of them were over there and far enough that Donald or Goofy wouldn't hear them, Sora spoke up.
"So what are we going to talk about?" Sora asked.
"About how things have been going… and what the plan is for how things may go, or something like that," Juliana stated.
"Ah got it," Sora said. "Well everything has been going the same and stuff right?"
"Well…" Riku said, speaking up. "Not exactly the way it originally did, but they are going sort of similar."
"Ooh. Is that why you used that keyblade back there instead of the sword you had before?" Sora asked, now recalling the event. He only now realized that Riku had used a keyblade against the Heartless. Sora was far too excited at first to see Riku over what object he was holding in his hand.
"That's one thing at least," Riku commented. "But there was some other things because of that…"
"Like what?" Sora asked. Then he quickly looked at their group. "Wait a minute. Where is Tsuki? What happened to her?"
Tsuki, who remained a small fox kit throughout this conversation, jumped from atop Riku's head onto Sora's. Sora blinked a few times, not startled by the small fox jumping on him, but more or less confused why there was even a fox in the first place.
"And what's with the fox?" Sora said as he slowly reached his hand up to pet the silvery-blue fox that now sat upon his head. Tsuki just nuzzled his hand as the tip of her tail lit up blue, which she then tapped to his forehead. Sora tensed up slightly as he felt a small but sharp pain in his head. It only lasted a single second before fading away completely. "Uh… What just happened?"
"The formation of a limited range telepathic link between us," Tsuki thought-answered.
Sora's eyes widened. "Whoa wait! Tsuki? That's you?!" He nearly shouted, but thankfully he was not loud enough to get the attention of Donald or Goofy.
Tsuki turned around on Sora's head before leaping onto Riku's shoulder. "It's less suspicious than walking around in a human form, and less likely to unintentionally cause a deviation in the timestream should I be found beside Riku when he was originally alone through his travels."
"Ah I get it now," Sora said as he nodded his head.
"For me though it didn't really matter to much since your journey is a bit different of course," Juliana said. "Though unlike Tsuki I can't transform into a fox or anything."
"You can hear her too?" Sora asked.
"All three of us can hear her now," Juliana replied. "But now onto more important matters. What exactly changed or were different for you Riku?"
"Well for one, it would be having the keyblade that you saw me use back there," Riku said.
"Yeah where did you even get that keyblade? I've never seen one like that before," Sora commented.
Riku ran a hand through his hair as he let out a sigh. "It's a bit complicated, I still don't fully understand it myself. But there is also one other major thing…"
"And what's that?" Sora asked.
"Maleficent knows I have a keyblade this time," Riku replied.
"Wait doesn't that mean the timeline isn't like it was before?" Sora asked before looking at Juliana and then Tsuki. "I thought you guys said that things weren't supposed to really change."
"Not everything is within our means to control. There will be events where we must make do with what has changed and attempt to keep the time stream on a path similar to its original route."
"Hmm so things could actually change this time around? But how will that affect the future of the timeline and everything?" Sora then asked.
"I think that's where things will get even more complicated. Tsuki told me that the original timeline has collapsed," Riku reposned.
"What? What does that mean exactly?" Sora asked.
"It means that everything that had happened and everyone who did not come back in time no longer exist."
Sora gasped. His mouth dropped open slightly as he took in the information. "So you mean… even if we manage to stop the seekers of the darkness who came back, we will never be able to go back to our present time?"
Juliana nodded. "That's pretty much it. Even if we were to stop the seekers right now… we would still have to keep on going with everything else. There is no possible way for us to return from the time we came anymore."
"But… if that's the case…" Sora lowered his head for a moment as new thoughts came to him. Soon enough he lifted his head back up to look at everyone. "If the original timeline is gone… then why do we have to keep doing what originally happened? Couldn't we change things for the better or something?"
Both Juliana and Riku stared at Sora, not expecting that kind of response from him. Though neither of them choose to speak up. They had no idea what to say to something like that. Though it seems Tsuki at least had a reply to Sora's questions.
"If you wish to gamble with the lives of others when you already know the path to a favorable outcome, that is your choice. Even then, time, like water, will flow the path of least resistance through a route similar to what had happened before."
Sora frowned as he sighed. "Oh… I guess I didn't think about it like that…"
"Yeah, I know it sucks," Julianna said. "Even if we were to find the seekers and stop them right away, there would be no way for us to return back from the time we came from. And then since we can't return, we would still have to go through everything again, because you know… all those other events will still happen as they did, even if things are slightly different this time."
"So either way, we are still stuck doing what we already know," Riku added. "Or at least as close as we can get it."
"But that's just not fair," Sora complained with a heavy sigh. "I just feel like there are somethings you shouldn't have to go through again. Like what about… You know…" Sora lowered the volume of his voice. "Xehanort's Heartless?"
Riku looked to the side and gave a sigh. "I don't know yet how that is going to go. But it's what originally happened… and if we don't make something similar happen to that… then who knows what could happen."
"There's a decent chance that the appearance of Xehanort's Heartless will play out completely differently this time around, even if we try to re-enact the event the exact same way as what originally happened."
"Huh? Wait so even if we try to keep things the same… things could still go differently? Now I'm just confused even more," Sora said as he placed a hand on his forehead.
"We are just going to have to go through everything and hope for the best." Riku replied. "And just deal with what is to come… when it happens."
"I recommend that we end this conversation here. I sense that Maleficent is finished with her objective and will be nearby shortly."
"Hm yes we should hurry back to what we were going to do before. We don't wanna cause any further delays in stuff," Juliana said as she glanced back over to Donald and Goofy, who were still waiting.
"All right, I guess I'll be heading off now," Riku said, but he looked at Sora once more. "Stay safe Sora."
Sora nodded. He still wasn't too happy that he had to try to keep things the same, but he knew it was how it was supposed to be. Or at least things would go as close as they could. He knew at least Riku was not going to turn against him this time… well not in the way that it originally happened. This time it would be fake of course, so that helped ease Sora a little bit further. "You too Riku."
"I wish you luck, and a safe journey, Sora, Juliana." Tsuki jumped from Riku's shoulders, onto Sora's head, then across to Juliana's, before bounding atop Riku's, where she curled up, her tail swishing amongst strands of his hair.
"Thank you. See ya guys," Sora said as he started to smile before Riku waved and walked off elsewhere.
"Come on Sora, let's go met up with Donald and Goofy. I can tell Donald already still being super impatient," Juliana said as she started walking back towards them.
"Yeah all right," Sora replied as he also started to walk. Though the thoughts of what had just been talked about still lingered in his head. They were going to try and keep the timeline the same, but there already seemed to be things that had changed. Sora started to wonder what would really happen further down the line and if it was going to be even possible to keep everything remotely the same. There was a unease feeling in Sora's stomach that it wouldn't be easy to do… or even that possible.
Woo so we got a big conversation of stuff out of the way now lol. Things have been talked about. There are differences. There will be more differences. Things will be changing.
What those changes are? You guys will just have to wait and find out.
Thanks for reading though!
