Firepaw cast one, sad glance back at the place that had so easily become her home. She wished she could tell some one, that she didn't have to leave, but Starclan was clear. She was to journey to rescue Windclan and bring them home. They never said whether she had to journey alone or not, but she didn't really know how dangerous this was going to be, and if she died she wouldn't take Graypaw or Sandpaw to Starclan with her. Besides, she'd see them again, right?

"Good bye." She whispered, and ran before she could loose her nerve. The apprentice was well inside Windclan territory when she finally stopped. Her legs were shaking terribly, and her eyes itched. She let herself collapse into a small bed of grass.

Darkness had given way to dawn, and the horizon was just starting to turn from grey to pink. She watched her pelt burst into flame as the first rays of sunlight began to warm her fur. Even though her pelt was split with wounds and a few small, old scars she realized how beautiful her fur looked in this strange morning light.

"Come on, Firepaw. Can't just lay here forever you mushroom." She snorted to herself and forced herself to her paws. The poor apprentices legs ached and breathing hurt a little, but she could deal with that for now. Firepaw kept walking, trying unsuccessfully to remove the painful cramps from her legs and tail. When she left the old Windclan territory it was past sun high.

Her tummy rumbled softly and she sat back on her haunches and pawed at it in annoyance. Her stomach only growled back agitatedly.

"Alright, alright. I'm going..." and it took her almost no time at all to have two mice at her paws.

"Thank you Starclan for these lives you've given to feed me." She mewed respectfully before digging into her meal. She finished quickly and kept moving until it began to get dark. Firepaw began to shake. She could hear twoleg monsters and the soft, distant crackle of fire.

"I don't want to be alone..." She sniffled softly, afraid of what the night held for her. She crawled up a small tree, not wanting to be on the ground in case a dog or something came by while she was asleep. She scaled the trunk until she saw a small fork between two branches, and made her way over there. It wasn't very comfortable, without bedding but she felt a small, airy shape press into her body the second she lay down. Mosquito's scent writhed around her pleasantly.

"Hullo..." She yawned, only just realizing how tired she had become.

"Hiya Firepaw. You promised you'd visit me, and I just couldn't wait so I came to visit you instead! Do you mind?" He asked, and even though she couldn't see him and she could barely feel him there, she was happy she wasn't alone and she could imagine the dead kit's spirit curled up against her.

"No. Thank you for coming, I didn't wanna be alone... a-again." Her jaws parted in a massive yawn.

"Sleep well. I can't tell you what happens, but you wont have to travel alone tomorrow." His soft mew was still high pitched and adorable from the kithood he would never grow out of.

"Thank you." Her stomach growled again, but she was far too tired to feed it. Moonlight shone through the trees and turned her pelt into a bright silvery sort of gold. Even though her thoughts were muddled with the impending threat to her consciousness, her drifting mind settled on one thought before she was thrown into dreams.

'I wonder what moonlight looks like on the fur of my clan mates... maybe if I come back I'll get to see... I miss them.'

Sorry if this chapter seemed a tad rushed, but I've had horrific writers block, and I'm having alot of trouble with some things right now. Either way I hope you enjoyed this too short chapter, remember to review!
