I couldn't update sooner. School is taking everything from me! (help!) just kidding.
I listen to A LOT of Ellie Goulding while writing this chapter.
Hope you like it

Four's POV
I was leaving the control room, anxious to meet Tris on the net, to talk to her, see her, when I hear a scream. It echoes on every corridor. It was a yell for help, originally made by desperation and vulnerability. Someone needed my help. But most of all, I knew the voice: Tris.
It took me off guarded that I felt a shiver running out my spine. Like electricity hitting my body, I start running towards her. 'She's in trouble. I'm going to kill who's hurting her' I thought.
I barely felt the floor I was stepping rapidly when I saw four figures on the Chasm. Three of them was pushing one in the direction to the water. I could see her gold hair glowing in the darkness. She was too close from the edge. She was going to fall.
"Wait! I think I feel something!" a male voice said. Tris let go another roar.
I didn't even had time to talk or to think before I berried my fist at the guy who was grabbing Tris. My anger was taking control of me. I knew how that felt: being threatened to death, to feel vulnerable, small, weak. My past hunts me every day, and, sometimes, my memories of him were so vivid that I thought I was reviving them. But not now. And I wouldn't let her feel the same.
In less of five seconds two of the attackers ran letting me have fun with another: Drew. He was so dead. I hit him so hard that he fell unconsciously after two punches. I turn around and see Tris with sweat covering her face, struggling to breathe or move.
"Four…" she whispers.
My heart missed a beat. Was she happy to see it was me or thought that she was on her stage four of bravery: safety? Well, now thinking about it, both.
I grab her carefully and carried her to my apartment. I lye her down on my bed and watch her. Not like a creep. I mean, I think not. 'Will she be ok?' 'Of course she will' I answer to myself.
Suddenly I remember of Drew. He was going to tell me the reason of the attack. He may try to hide something to protect his friends, but he will tell me. He didn't have a choice.
I get back to the chasm and find him still on the ground.
"You. Drew. Wake up sunshine" I say kicking him.
He moans and opens his eyes. He looked swallowed and purple. Also scared. I smiled.
"So let's play a game. You're going to tell me why you and your little friends attacked Tris or I punch you again. You have three seconds"
"I'm-I'm" he tries to speak.
"One."
"I don't- I don't know"
"Two, three." I hit him in the jaw.
He coughs and spits out blood.
"So sorry. Was I too rash? Now, let's try again. What was you doing here?" I was losing my patience. Tris was going to wake up any minute and I don't want her to wake up alone. Like happen so many times to me.
"One!" I shout when he wasn't reacting.
"Wait, wait! Please, don't hit me!"
"Two!"
"Peter just wanted to scare her. Nothing else. I swear!" he said.
"Why should I believe you?" Scare her my ass. They were going to kill her. They were scared of her. I smiled maliciously. Way to go Tris; scaring away the competition.
"I-I'm telling the truth! Please, I swear! Don't hit me! Please!
"You're a coward" I reply before hitting him a last time. He falls again. I drop him in the infirmary and get back to my apartment.
I glance at Tris and see that she is still sleeping. I go to the fridge and take of some ice for her when I let a trace of Drew's blood on the handle of the fridge. 'Damn'
I go to the bathroom and wash my hands. When I get out my eyes stuck on Tris's eyes. She's waken up. I pick up the ice and softly placed it on her cheek.
"Your hands…" she says with her low and hoarse voice.
"My hands is not your business" I reply maybe to rash while I put the ice on her forehead. I could feel the warmth from her skin. I saw her small hand reaching my lower lip that had an insignificant injury. 'How could she care about me when she almost died?'
"Tris, I'm fine" I say moving her hand away from my lips before I tried to kiss her gentile fingers.
"How did you know I was there?"
"I was leaving the control room when I heard screams"
"What did you do to them?"
"I dropped Drew at the infirmary half an hour ago, but Peter and Molly escaped. He said that they were just trying to scare you. Or at least it was what he was trying to say, I think".
"How is he?"
"He will survive, but don't know in what conditions"
I could see a different look in her eyes. A flame of triumph, of maleficent happiness.
"Great" she says with a fierce look. However, a second later, her eyes were staring at opposite wall and I could see a small teardrop. I was not expecting that. I did not know what to say so I just stayed there looking at her. That was the first time I saw her cry, but I did not thought she was weak. She almost died and that's normal.
Suddenly I felt like I needed to comfort her, so I caress her cheekbone with my thumb. Her skin so white, so soft it was like caressing silk. Our eyes meet again. She looks surprised. Actually, me too. But it felt natural, I did not overthink stuff so, now, I'm taking care of her.
"I could tell what happened"
She rolls her eyes ironically.
"No. They will think I am afraid which I'm not.
I was expecting that. She rather lose a finger than look weak.
"Can I sit?" she asks.
I nod. "I'll help you".
I grab her shoulder and the other hand while she sits making faces with every move. She was in pain, but, like I said, she wasn't going to show how tired and sore she actually was.
"You can allow yourself to have pain. It's just me here".
She bits her lower lip and another tear runs down her face. She putts her legs out of my bed and tries to stand. She almost falls and I grab her waist. She almost screams, moaning with pain. 'What did they do to her?'
"I'm fine." She says without looking at me. "I'm just going to the bathroom, okay?"
I stared at her, studying her, seeing if she was going to fall. She looked firm. I let her go gradually. She made her way to the bathroom slowly and close the door. I could hear her sigh, she was now letting herself have pain. Away from me.
Did she think I was going to judge her for having pain? For let down her guard? After some minutes, I didn't count, I decide to lend one of my shirts, since hers was dirty and full of holes, I was slowly open the door. I peeped and saw her with the t-shirt up showing a huge dark purple bruise that covered her side ribs. She turns her face to the door and her eyes bulged when she looked at me and she put her t-shirt down rapidly, quit embarrassed.
"They did that to you?" I asked with a low voice, almost predatory, roaring.
"I'm fine" she says accepting my shirt. "Thanks".
She get out of the bathroom with my shirt on and I followed her. The beating I give to Drew wasn't enough. I wanted to break every bone on their body, be the worst fear in their lives, be reason they can't sleep at night, put them in so much pain that losing a leg was exactly like a small bruise.
But I couldn't. I needed to be better than them. They were going to be factionless anyway. So I tried to be rational, for Tris's sake.
"They attacked you because they're afraid of you" I say acknowledging the truth. "However, if you show them a… vulnerable side, they won't have a reason to be jealous of you anymore"
She open her mouth ready to reject my idea.
"You want me to pretend that I'm vulnerable? Are you crazy? They will think they scared me!"
"Of course. Then they will leave you alone."
"I can't, you… You don't understand. They- they touched me" she looked so small, so raged, so furious, so blushed, fragile.
"Touched you" I repeat interiorising the words, imagine they're deaths. I was going to kill them, I didn't really cared if I was going to be expelled from Dauntless. I don't really give a damn for the others initiates or almost anyone, but not Tris. Not my Tris.
"I mean, not like that, but… almost".
I relaxed a little, but they were going to pay. Tris deserved her revenge. She will take care of them. And if she needed some help I was always available to beat their asses.
"What?" she asks. I was distracted, lost on my own thoughts, looking at her.
"I didn't wanted to tell you this but… Your safety is more important than your reason, alright?"
She nodded.
"But, please, when you have a chance, destroy them".
Her eyes were widen, surprised with my sudden darkness.
"You're a little scary, Four"
"Don't call me that."
"What would I call you, then?" she asks obviously curious.
My feet dragged me closer to her. I knew the risk I was taking , but I was willing to trust her. No one else's. Just her. My hand stopped on her cheek again. I just couldn't help myself. I almost smiled when I felt her skin and her eyes looking down, embarrassed. She have to let go a little of her abnegation side.
"Nothing. For now."
"Alright, Nothing" she whispers with a shy smile.
I found myself smiling too. I remember her bruise and I told her to sleep in my apartment. She couldn't go back to her dorms. That would be just pure stupidity.
"I sleep on the floor" I say before she could abject.
Later on, I could hear her soft breathing, and her beautiful owl eyes on me, while I pretend to be asleep. My room had another ambient, I didn't felt dislocated. I didn't wanted to leave this place anymore. That night, seconds before I had the quietest night I remember, I swear that I would follow her anywhere, be anything she wanted me to be. If this wasn't the beginning of something strong, unbreakable, unconditional like love, I didn't know what it was.
