I kissed the scars on her skin
I still think you're beautiful
And I don't ever wanna lose my best friend.

"I can't believe you took his tongue."

I rolled my eyes. That was the third time Isa and Ang had echoed each other. I did end up talking to Peter about the Texas thing and he pissed me off spectacularly. Hence the reason his tongue was sitting on my desk.

We were at the empty Cullen house, everyone else off hunting. Peter was off in Texas packing to come up until graduation was over and Charlie was binge drinking on the Res with Billy, leaving Isa to her own devices.

Ang was glued to her side like usual; although tonight's inseparable mess was less of a necessity for Isa and more for her own benefit. Her parents had found out about Peter and weren't too happy with her. There was no talk of disownment; however, Angela didn't want to be around them.

Isa, picking up on her best friend's distress, made tonight less about her slight relapse and more about making Ang happy. Her relapse was, technically, miniscule but she was still anxious about it. Focusing on Ang made her feel better, though, so I let it slide.

"When are you gonna give it back?" Ang asked.

"When he gets back." I said with a shrug. "He'll be alright without it."

"They're about two miles out." Isa said softly.

She had taken to playing with her newest power when she could. It frustrated the fuck out of the Cullen's which made her all the happier.

I felt the air around us get tight before she eased up and stopped completely. Ang pulled out her phone as I heard the family at the edge of the property.

I glanced between the girls, who were rapidly texting back and forth, and tilted my head. Angela shouldn't have been able to know that they were close enough to hear any sounds in the house. Isa, on the other hand, was only privy to that information because of her extra powers. Still, neither of them should've known the exact moment they reached the edge of the property,

I sighed softly and put the thought in the back of my head. If anything else came up, I would make a point to talk to them about it.

I picked up my phone from the nightstand when it went off.

Did you get to finish your paper for Comp. tomorrow? –Isa

Not quite. I don't know if I'll be able to make it to class. –Jas

You're going tomorrow and you know it. Anyway, I haven't finished it either. – Ang

Did you finish, Iz? –Jas

You know I did. Y'all are the slackers. –Isa

Ang and I both rolled our eyes at her and she giggled. Isa was always a step ahead of us with the Comp. assignments, simply because she was a great writer and always knew how to get her thoughts on paper. I was just as good; I just hated doing them so I always waited until the last minute.

We all turned to face the doorway when my door slammed against the wall.

"YOU STUPID SLUT!"

Isa arched a brow at Rosalie as she stalked deeper into the room. She was seething in her anger and I was shaking from the excess.

Angela placed her hand on mine and shared her calm with me. I accepted it, but when Alice came in just as upset, it was of little help.

She slid into my lap and started her meditation breathing and shared more calm than I thought she could.

"I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU DID THAT! I COULD KILL YOU!" Alice screeched.

Isa slid off the bed and leaned against the wall next to the window. Her brow slid higher up her face as she crossed her arms under her breasts.

"You burned all of my shit." Alice accused.

"And you cut up all of my clothes." Rosalie added.

Isa pointed to Alice and shook her head. Then she pointed at Rosalie and raised a shoulder but also shook her head.

"You fucking liar." Rosalie said stepping closer to Isa.

Isa, in turn, stood defensively and gave Rosalie a look that said 'I don't think you want to come any closer'.

Rosalie wisely stayed where she was. Alice moved next to her and seethed.

"If you were a vampire, I would punch you in your face for this."

Isa pushed her hair over her shoulder and cleared it from her eyes, putting her flawless face on display for the girls that were giving more threats than promises. She held a hand under her chin and smirked an invitation.

Glaring, Rosalie took another step. Isa reacted only by pulling her hair into a knotted bun on top of her head. Rosalie took another step and Alice froze with a vision.

The rest of the family stood in my doorway, watching the scene play out. With Alice occupied in her vision, her anger dissipated, making it easier for me to stay calm. Angela felt my shift and slid from my lap, leaning next to me against the headboard. Together, we watched the drama unfold.

I turned my attention back to my tiny mate and the irate vampire in front of her.

Alice came from her vision and she looked horrified. Ang laughed softly and I heard the click of her phone as she took a picture.

Rosalie stood to close to Isa, for my comfort at least, and bent to her level.

"I could kill you where you stand." She hissed. "You are nothing but a weak little human."

Isa laughed melodically, tossing her head back and bumping Rosalie's chin with her nose.

She leaned around Rosalie's tall frame and looked at Alice. "Boo."

Alice jumped, coming to her senses and rushing at vampire speed towards Edward, who stepped away from her and stood on the opposite side of Angela. Angela moved over and patted the bed next to her. Edward sank into his offered seat and I nodded in greeting.

Ever since Isa outed Alice to him, Edward had been a pleasant addition to our tiny clique. Angela and Isabella both took to his quiet brooding personality quite easily and I never really had a problem with him.

"Just because you think you're scary, doesn't mean anyone is actually scared of you." Rosalie said, bringing Isa's attention back to her.

Isa took a deep breath and closed her eyes. Edward's shock rocked through me as Isa let him read her, I assumed.

"Rosalie, I'd quit that." He said slowly, motioning for Angela to move to his other side.

He slid closer to me and signed quickly.

"Isa ever share her strength with you?"

I shook my head. "No, why?"

He pointed towards my mate as she pulled her hand back and planted a solid punch to Rosalie's mouth.

"Alice's horror makes sense now." Angela muttered, causing Edward and I to laugh.

I sped over to Isa and grabbed her petite frame, stopping her or Rosalie from doing anything else.

I stepped over Rosalie's prone frame and made my way downstairs. I heard Edward and Angela following. We raced over to my cabin and headed out back. I set down my tiny mate and checked her hand.

"What the fuck girl?" I drawled as I looked at her hand.

There were no broken bones or swelling; nothing that should've been present after punching a vampire in the face.

"She was bothering me." Isa shrugged.

"You're insane." Ang laughed. "You damn near put a hole in the girl's head and all you have to say is that she was bothering you."

"She was." Isa shrugged again. "Plus, she already had her warning."

I glanced at Ang and shrugged when she arched a brow at me. "She has a point."

Edward laughed and we took seats around the backyard. We talked about plans after graduation and what Angela was going to do about her parents and Peter until the girls fell asleep.

Edward and I carried them up to my room and rested them on the bed before heading back out to hunt. When we finished, we headed back to the cabin and lounged about downstairs while the girls slept.

"How'd you know?" he asked quietly.

I arched a brow at him.

"Isa. Her shield and everything else. How'd you know?" he clarified.

I laughed softly remembering her very first day.

"Her first day during lunch she asked why I didn't talk." I started. It had been nearly six months since that day and it seemed so much longer than that.

"She has very little room to talk." He laughed.

"I'm aware, as is she." I replied with a laugh of my own. "She did clarify that she couldn't really say too much about it but the fact that I had only said her name was creepy. I told her the generic response about my accent."

"And I said it isn't your problem."

I laughed as Isa came downstairs. She sank into my lap and hid her face in my neck.

"Why are you not asleep?" Edward asked.

"My teddy bear isn't in bed with me." She sassed. "And Ang started kicking."

"So damn sassy." He muttered. "Continue Jas."

I laughed at their interaction. The two of them got along well but they fought like cats and dogs. All the time.

"She sassed as per usual and I ended up telling her about the control thing." I shrugged.

"I told him about his empathy and showed off a bit." Isa finished.

"A bit?" I asked incredulously. "Two seconds more and I would've eaten a pizza."

"Sorry what was that? Your damn accent was just too thick." She sassed against my skin.

I nipped at her neck causing her to look up at me.

"Behave." I said with a level stare.

She kissed me lightly and burrowed back into my neck.

I rolled my eyes and turned back to Edward. "That's how I found out about one of the three."

"And the fire and surroundings thing?"

"The Friday of her first week, we went on an adventure and she found out about the mate thing. She showed off a bit more, using a small one for light and then made a circle. The surrounding things happened the same night; she walked to far away in her story telling and couldn't quite hear me so she thinned the air."

Isa had fallen asleep during my talking and shifted in my lap. She threw her hand over my mouth and mumbled against my skin.

"The shield?" Edward asked softly.

I dropped my own shield and allowed him to see the memory in my head.

Isa and I were in her bedroom avoiding the drunk Charlie who was destroying the first level of the house. She had hid in her closet before I had showed up and Charlie thought she wasn't home.

She had thickened the air around her room to muffle the sounds of him cursing her and to block out any small sounds she did end up making. Her anxiety was through the roof and it was difficult for me to calm her using my powers. She calmed herself to a point and had dropped her shield in the process. The full strength of her anxiety flooded me and she struggled to manage it enough for me to calm myself and be able to help her.

Edward nodded and I let my shield fall back into place. We sat in silence for a while before he spoke up.

"Has Charlie done anything since she's gotten here?" he asked almost silently.

"I don't know." I said honestly. "I'm around as much as possible but I'm not always there. If he has, she hasn't said anything."

"You haven't felt anything?"

"She's amazing at hiding her feelings." I said looking down at my tiny mate. I traced her face lightly with a fingertip. "Even if he did do something, if nothing was broken or he hadn't attempted to kill her, she wouldn't say anything."

Edward nodded slowly. "She's a little doll. Sassy as hell but she's so tiny."

"It's hard to avoid wanting to protect her all the time." I confessed. "But she very easily reminds me that she's well and capable."

"Tonight was a perfect example of that."

I chuckled softly. "Yes."

"Such a sassy little doll."

My tiny Aphrodite.
