Chloe.
Stuffing all the clothes in my bag as Tori's endless cursing filled my ears was really not helpful.
"Come on!" Derek stressed holding the door open for us.
As we ran for the cars it was a mess as everyone just crammed themselves anywhere.
I was about to head for Kits car but the strap on my bag got caught on the door and ripped open spilling my clothes everywhere.
"No..no..no not now!" I muttered.
Corey who was right behind me kneeled down quickly and helped me pick it up.
"I haven't got a bag!" I stressed.
"I've got tons of room in mine for now." Corey shrugged as he picked up my clothes and stuffed it in his bag.
I blushed as I saw him grab a load of my underwear and put it away. I guess this meant wherever he was going I had to go too. I was grateful that he was helping but I knew where this was going.
Corey swung the bag back on his shoulder as we ran towards the cars. Kits car was all ready taken as I saw Maya heading towards it.
"Your have to sit on Corey's lap." Sam suggested.
Great!
"You're even lighter then I thought." Corey smiled as I blushed again.
"Thanks for helping." I returned the gesture.
"Oh please!" Nicole snorted.
Daniel got in and slammed the door I could tell by his face he wasn't amused.
"Where's Hayley? "I remembered.
"She wanted to walk, she said something about a relative nearby. Lucky her I guess." Corey shrugged.
Serena and Daniel filled the seats next to us as I realized I was on my own. Not Even Maya was here.
"Let's get the hell out of here."Sam slammed her foot down and the car took off in front of kits.
Once we took a different direction to Kits car my heart sank. I was on my own from here. For the first twenty minuets everyone lapsed into silence until Serena spoke up.
"I knew I would find you guys again. Just never in a million years did I expect to find you here." Serena glazed up at Daniel.
"Me neither." Daniel agreed awkwardly.
"I was so happy when I saw Maya's face. She's gotten so beautiful. "Serena Repeated.
"I bet she's got a boyfriend now." She continued.
"Nope. She's single, Daniels been scaring them all off." Corey laughed not understanding the awkwardness.
The car fell silent again for another twenty minuets.
Corey suddenly tensed I felt his shoulders tighten.
"Um guys...I need to get out." Corey rasped.
"Why what's wrong?" Serena looked confused.
"Is it starting again?" Daniel looked worried as Cory nodded.
"Dammit Corey!...always when were in the car. Crap timing." Nicole cursed.
"Shut up Nicole. "Sam threw back at her as she parked up in a parking lot.
"We're go with him, can you three keep an eye out. Anything that happens shout." Daniel rushed off they went off for the bushes.
I stood with Serena and Nicole near the car.
That's when a phone went off I went to grab it but Nicole rushed in the car and answered it.
"Hello?" I heard her answer as she closed the car door.
"Hey. So how do you know Maya?" Serena made small talk.
"Yep where do you want us to go? "I heard Nicole asked.
"We bumped into each-other at her friends aunts flats, where Kit was staying as well." I mumbled as I was trying to hear.
"Wow that was lucky. Is the St. clouds after you as well?" Serena pressed on. I felt really bad tuning her out but I really wanted to know who was on the phone and I wanted to speak to them.
"Chloe?" Serena pressed.
"Sorry. Um no the Edison group there in charge of the buffalo experiments as they call it." I answered going quiet again.
"Thanks." Nicole was about to hang I heard briefly.
"The at clouds are after us I guess that's two groups of crazy scientists that are chasing us now hey?" Serena pulled a face.
"Ok thank you Kit we will drive there see you in a week." Nicole said goodbye as she hung up.
When Nicole climbed out the car she tucked the phone away in her zip pocket.
"We have to go camping." Nicole read back.
That's strange I swore Kit had a safe house planned.
"And we have to wait a week?" Nicole announced making it worse.
"Did they say anything about me? Any messages to pass on?" I pressed on but Nicole just shook her head at me.
Something wasn't right.
We stood and waited for them to come back after twenty minuets they came back with a rough looking Corey.
"How you feeling?" Serena beat me to it.
"Feel like I've been hit by a car but other then that great." He mumbled.
"Kit called we have to go camping. For a week until he can figure out where to go next" Nicole jumped back into the passenger seat
"Camping? Like tents in the cold. "Corey pulled a face.
Sam let me take over you look exhausted." Daniel offered.
At first she was about to protest but when she realized how right he was she climbed back out.
"Thanks." She muttered.
He bumped her shoulder lightly.
"I've got your back."
After awhile we drove around trying to find the best place to leave the car. That's when I spotted something better.
"Over there!" I pointed out.
"What?" Daniel looked confused.
"That abandoned building over there. We can go there." I smiled.
I love finding abandoned buildings when were on the streets a building like this is like finding gold
Nicole shot me a disgusted glare as my cheeks heated.
"I-it's perfect. You've got shelter. Warmth w-when you have the right gear which w-we do. Also no one can see us." I explained.
"Hang on let me find a place to park the car." Daniel agreed.
Once the car was parked we grabbed all are stuff out the boot. I looked at Daniels watch, it was 4:25 am and everyone looked beyond tired. We made sure no one was looking when we broke through the back door carrying are tents and sleeping bags. Whenever you stay in an old building there's bound to be no beds and even if it did it would be too dusty or dirty to sleep in. Daniel kicked it in once we where in side we saw all the rooms downstairs had nothing except an extremely dirty table and a set of old chairs.
"We should bolt the door back shut with that." I suggested.
"Good thing we have you with us. Your a pro at this." Corey complemented.
"It's just experience." I blushed.
We a started setting up are tents and sleeping bags.
"Chloe is it ok if I turn the phone off we need to save the battery there's no working plug sockets?" Daniel asked me.
"Well that's common sense why are you asking no one put her in charge." To no surprise Nicole cut in with the same bitterness.
"Nicole!" Daniel roared making us all jump out of are skins.
"Would you just stop." He continued to shout as his voice rang in my ears. She looked back at him horror shocked.
"Give me the phone." He snatched it out of her hands.
"I see you've turned it off anyway." He added lowering his voice a little.
"And for the record. Chloe is in charge. She's knows buffalo and she also knows how to be on the run...without getting caught." Daniel ripped in to her even more
The room fell silent as I turned to Corey I saw his mouth was wide open his eyes switching between Nicole and Daniel.
"It's ok t-turn I-I-it o-off. If anything really bad happens Liz will tell me. It's n-not a problem." I stuttered.
"That's your ghost friend isn't it?" Serena asked breaking the ice.
"Yeah. I'm going to try and summon her later right now I'm too tired to even think." I hinted as we got all our sleeping gear ready.
Serena got the hint and said goodnight.
Nicole very tensely dragged her tent and dragged it away to the other side of the room. It was a very childish move but of course I kept that thought to myself.
As soon as I lied down I drifted to sleep. But my dreams was disturbing me. I knew deep down something didn't feel right where I was now. A sudden weight in my dreams had me pinned down. I couldn't move I heard a small snap. But I could end place the sound.
What was keeping me down? All I could feel was this heat. I could hear my own breaths struggling to break free.
I stopped struggling and of course the weight stopped. As I jolted awake in the dark I mentally shook myself and went back to sleep.
"What happened to you?" Daniels voice echoed into my ears.
Still half asleep I tied to tune in.
It was just Daniel and Serena they must be out there tents sitting on the floor.
"I went swimming with Maya that day as you know. I was in the water and Maya was sitting down in the distanced. We were talking but all the sudden something pulled me under. But the thing is I swear I saw a person. A girl she grabbed my ankle and dragged me down. I didn't drown but she pulled me all the way a across the other side of the lake. Then these men rushed in to grab me but not to my aid. They took me against my will. They kept me locked up." Serena explained the while story.
"Who pulled you down?" Corey's voice spoke up.
"I can't remember. My memory was affected too for some strange reason." Serena couldn't answer.
When I was fully awake I realized My head was pounding I got up about to unzip my tent when a Weird feeling touched my neck. I looked down on myself. My breath got caught in my throat when I saw it. My talisman necklace was gone.
At first I checked the top of my quilt then frantically throwing it off to look underneath.
"Oh my god." I cried out.
"Chloe?" Corey called.
I stumbled out of my tent as I pulled out all the blankets and shook them madly with no result.
I unzipped my tent and scanned the floor but nothing.
"What is it?" Sam spun.
"My necklace I-it's gone." I stuttered nervously.
"It's ok maybe you packed it? "Daniel tried to ease.
"You d-don't understand. It's always been around my neck it's a talisman; it helps me control my power. I can't go without it." The panic made my head whirl.
That's when I realized. Yesterday when I was too busy trying to get out the door I must of lost it the moment I dropped all my things and Corey had to help.
"I lost it when I dropped all my things."
"Oh Chloe." Serena ushered as she put an arm around me.
"What's all the commotion about?" Nicole muttered getting out her tent.
Corey started rummaging through his bag.
"She lost her necklace. It's important as it helps her gift." Serena explained to Nicole.
But of course not that Nicole cared.
I can't get hold of Liz now not if I wanted to risk pulling every soul that's in the air towards me.
Daniel decided to search through everyone's bags just in case it was miss placed. But I knew I had lost it.
The last and best thing my mother gave me was gone.
About time Daniel put Nicole Down! Jesus :) I enjoyed writing that...a lot!
