Hiccup, Rapunzel, Merida, and Jack were asleep in the room upstairs, while Toothless slept in the living room downstairs; they hadn't built anything for him yet. There was one huge bed, so they shared it. Merida didn't notice how much she'd snuggled up to Hiccup. Rapunzel didn't care what the others thought; she just wrapped her arms around Jack and didn't let go. Just then, there was a big crash. Someone had broken in their window. They all woke up, alarmed. Rapunzel reached under her pillow and slowly pulled out her frying pan. Jack, keeping one arm protectively around Rapunzel, reached over and grabbed his staff that was leaning beside the bed. Hiccup knew Toothless would come any moment, and Merida had her bow and arrow ready. "You'd better leave, or else!" Hiccup said calmly. "Jack, how can you let him talk like that to an old friend?" A jolly voice with a Russian accent bellowed. "North?" Jack asked, squinting through the darkness. Merida jumped out of bed and turned on the lights. "AHHHHHHHHHHH! SANTA CLAUSE!" Merida yelled, and ran to him. She jumped up and down excitedly, then hugged him as hard as she could. "You believe, still at this age?" North asked, confused. "Yep. I met Jack Frost, so imagine the possibilities." Merida replied, her voice muffled by his thick jacket. North pried her arms from around him and placed them at her sides. "O-kay?" Hiccup said. Just then, Toothless poked his head in the room. "Ahhh, you have a dragon?" North asked, then strutted right over to pat Toothless on the head. Toothless looked at Rapunzel, confused. She shrugged. She, Hiccup, and Jack climbed out of the bed and everyone just kind of stood around, confused. "So! You're probably wondering why I'm here." North said. "Um, yeah." Jack answered. "Well, Hiccup, Merida, and Rapunzel have been chosen to be... GUARDIANS!" North yelled. He looked at them expectantly. "Really?" Jack looked at Rapunzel. "You guys are gonna be guardians! But wait." Jack paused. "North, they still have lives." He looked sadly at Rapunzel, then at Hiccup and Merida. "I don't know, and I don't care. They were chosen, so don't ask me, ask him." North pointed, then said, "Follow me!" He jumped out the window and into his sleigh. "No, just, no." Hiccup muttered. He grabbed Merida's hand and ran downstairs to Toothless (Who had gotten tired and went back downstairs to sleep.). He woke Toothless up and they ran outside and jumped on. Soon they were flying beside North. Jack and Rapunzel looked at each other. Jack flew outside, waiting for her. "Jump." He said. "Are you crazy?" Rapunzel tightened her hold on her frying pan. "I'll catch you. Come on, it'll be fun!" Jack replied, a lopsided grin spreading on his face. Rapunzel took a deep breath. She closed her eyes and ran. She jumped out the window. She knew she was falling. "Rapunzel open your eyes!" Jack called. Rapunzel opened her eyes, and quickly shut them again when she saw that she was going to hit the ground. Then, she felt something holding her. It was cold, and she knew who it was. She opened her eyes again and looked into Jack's blue ones. "Now do you trust me?" He asked. She simply smacked the back of his head. Jack laughed, then flew as fast as he could to catch up with the others.
