Senior year is not the 'fun time' every movie portrays it to be. I can't wait for all this to be over (the year, not the story. I love this story, I hate my school).
But you don't care about that, let's get on with the story, shall we?
I'M SORRY I'M SORRY
I really want it to be June already.
I'M SORRY
Story time.
Kat walked away from the last house, annoyed that she couldn't find Grace anywhere. Then she noticed a group of children playing at the end of the street. Kat walked up to them cautiously, she didn't have that much experience with kids, both her age and younger, most of the time she was teased by them for being brought up different.
"Excuse me? I'm looking for Grace." Said Kat loudly to the group, they all stopped playing an looked at her.
"I'm Grace. Do I know you?" said a small girl near the back.
"It's about your mom, those officers who came to your door earlier, do you remember them?" asked Kat, Grace nodded.
"They want to talk to you." Said Kat.
"What happened?" asked Grace.
"You should really let them tell you." Said Kat.
"Please." Said Grace.
"Quit begging, I'm not gonna be the one to tell you what's going on because I don't really know myself. I just do what I'm told. Now come on, let's get going." Said Kat.
Kat turned and began to walk away. She had taken a few steps by the time she realized that no one was following her. Kat turned back around in a huff, clearly annoyed.
"Well? What's taking you so long?" asked Kat.
"How do I know I can trust you?" asked Grace, she had moved away from her friends. They were staring at her, all huddled together.
"You don't have a choice right now." said Kat.
"Why not?" asked Grace.
"Ugh you're impossible." Said Kat.
"I'm impossible? You're the one who's trying to kidnap me." Said Grace.
"I'm not kidnapping you! You want to know what's going on with your parents, yes?" asked Kat.
Grace pauses for a moment, considering her options. Then she turned around faced her friends.
"I'm ok guys, go on without me. I'll catch up later." Said Grace, her friends all turned and left, saying bye as they went.
"Good, now hurry the hell up. We're late as it is." Said Kat before starting to run, Grace following right behind.
Meanwhile, at the local hospital, Daniel was having his shoulder examined. He was sitting shirtless on the hospital bed as a doctor examined the stitches.
"Well whoever stitched you up knew what they were doing, this will heal quickly." Said the doctor, a middle aged man who was wearing spectacles.
"How long?" asked Daniel.
"Give it a few weeks. I suggest you stay out of the field, Agent Sousa." Said the doctor.
"I'll take that under consideration. I came in here with a fellow agent. Agent Margaret Carter, is she ok?" asked Daniel.
"I will go check on her, my colleague is looking into her numerous injuries. What happened? She won't say." Asked the doctor.
"It's classified. Tell her I'll be in the waiting room. The doctor nodded and left. Daniel carefully put his shirt back on and buttoned it up before leaving too.
When Daniel walked into the waiting room, he was surprised to see Kat sitting there with a girl asleep beside her.
"Kat? Why'd you bring her here is she ok?" asked Daniel.
"I knew you were going to come here and Agent Thompson's an idiot who takes all the credit for things." Said Kat
"How long has she been asleep?"
"She's not asleep. She's unconscious. I told the doctors she was asleep when I got her in here because I didn't want them to take her away to some observation room and make it look like I didn't accomplish anything." Said Kat.
"Why on earth did you knock her unconscious?" asked Daniel.
"Who said I was the one to knock her unconscious?" asked Kat incredulously.
"Well?" asked Daniel
"Well…" sighed Kat
A little while earlier
"Wait!" shouted Grace, but Kat wouldn't slow down.
"No! I'm done running. I don't even know where we're going." Said Grace, coming to a stop.
"Oh bloody hell I told you we were going to the police." Said Kat.
"We passed the police station three blocks ago." Retorted Grace.
"Why don't you trust me?" asked Kat.
"You haven't given me a reason to." Said Grace.
"Because an eleven year old can really do so much harm." Said Kat.
"You're older than I am, and therefore stronger. I am no fool, my mother has taught me well." Said Grace before turning and beginning to walk away
"Your mother taught you fear, I prefer my way." Said Kat, Grace hesitated, but didn't turn.
"What exactly is your way?" she asked.
"I'm glad you asked." Responded Kat before reaching around Grace's throat and squeezing. Kat let go when she knew Grace was unconscious, checking her pulse just to be sure she wasn't dead.
"Though you may regret you had." Said Kat to herself.
Now, how to get to the hospital, it's a good three miles off. Thought Kat, she stood there for a minute. Kat heard a car coming from her right. Maybe they came to look for me, I have been gone a while. Oh wait, that's just a taxi, better than nothing. Thought Kat as she waved down the taxi.
"Are you alright?" asked the driver.
"What do you think? Can you take me and my friend to the city hospital?" said Kat.
"Of course, get in." said the driver.
Present
"…And here we are" said Kat.
"Did you pay the taxi driver?" asked Daniel.
"I don't have jack shit, of course I didn't pay the guy! I told him that someone would be out to pay him" exclaimed Kat.
Daniel sighed again, got up, and went outside. He walked up to the first taxi he saw.
"Excuse me, are you the guy who dropped off these two girls a little while ago?" asked Daniel.
"Yeah, you here to pay me? 3 dollars." asked the cab driver.
"Here, keep the change." Said Daniel, handing the man a five.
"Thanks." Said the man before driving off.
When Daniel walked back inside, he found Kat right where he had left her, she had fallen asleep. Daniel was about to go talk to Kat about what was going to happen next when Peggy reentered the room
"That took an ungodly amount of time." Said Peggy, Daniel smiled and kissed her cheek.
"Well thank you for seeing a doctor in the first place. What did he say?" asked Daniel.
"Well darling, first I got a lecture about not coming in sooner, then I was told that I really shouldn't be in my line of work, then I was told to stay home for the next month so that I can heal completely. A bit of an exaggeration if you ask me. What did the good doctor say about you?" Said Peggy.
"I need to stay out of the field for a few weeks, that's all. But I only have the one injury, you have at least four." Said Daniel.
"Ah, had four. My ankle's fine, my ribs are better. The only thing still bothering me a bit is my arm but that hasn't stopped me from being able to help in the field." Said Peggy.
"My mistake." Said Daniel, Peggy chuckled.
"What happened to them?" asked Peggy, indicating Kat and Grace.
"Grace annoyed Kat so much that Kat knocked her unconscious by nearly strangling her to death. Then Kat took a cab here and fell asleep pretty quickly." Said Daniel.
"Hmm, well we cant just leave them here. They can stay at the SSR with me. Oh God…" said Peggy.
"What?" asked Daniel.
"Angie, I completely forgot about her. It's late she might still be at the SSR." Said Peggy.
"No she isn't, I took the liberty of taking her to another one of Stark's residence's." said Jarvis.
"Mr. Jarvis, where the bloody hell have you been all this time?" asked Peggy.
"Rearranging Mr. Stark's security system, can't have all his inventions being stolen again, can we?" asked Jarvis.
"I arrived at the SSR first and upon arrival only found two other people there. Ms. Martinelli and Agent Wallace. They told me what happened and I offered to take Ms. Martinelli to Mr. Stark's third favorite residence in the area where she, yourself and those girls can stay for as long as you need. I'm sure Mr. Stark wouldn't mind, were he here to have a say in this." Said Jarvis.
"Well that's settled then. Mr. Jarvis if you could take the girls now I will join you later, just give me the address." Said Peggy.
"Of course, here, I have each address written down right here, first by state then by rank, in favorites, that is." Said Jarvis.
"So first I would find New York and then it would be the third address from the top?" inquired Peggy.
"Precisely. Good night." Said Jarvis, moving away to the girls.
"Wait a moment, we should wake up Kat and explain to her where she is going. Otherwise she'll wake up in the middle of the car ride, think she is being kidnapped, and probably kill you." Said Daniel.
"Good Heavens!" exclaimed Jarvis. Without replying Daniel walked over to Kat, crouched down, and shook her awake.
"What's going on, did I fall asleep?" asked Kat.
"Yeah, this man is named Jarvis, you can trust him. He's going to take you and Grace somewhere to stay for the night and tell you everything that happened. It's up to you whether or not you want to share that information with Grace or not. Do you understand?" asked Daniel, Kat nodded.
"Should we wake up Grace as well?" asked Jarvis.
"She's unconscious, so she won't be up for a while. Explained Peggy with a shake of the head. Jarvis looked at Kat who smiled devilishly.
"Oh, I see. Alright well I ill just carry her and Ms. Kat you can follow me" Said Jarvis.
After they left, Daniel turned to Peggy and said
"You hungry?"
I would have written more but it's getting late and I have school tomorrow, sorry.
Please review with your thoughts!
Sorry again for how long this chapter took, I wish I could say that the next one will be up sooner but in all honesty it probably won't be.
I hope everyone who celebrates it had a Happy Thanksgiving, and if I don't post before then I wish you all Happy Holidays as well!
