I quote from LeAwesome: *serious, mysterious, DARK environment* BEWARE, for I and pft980811 have combined our forces to hunt you down. This is just a warning as hunting a prey that is aware that it is being hunted is much more satisfying than one that is completely oblivious. Run and hide all you can, but you can never outrun us and hide from us. We are always here. Always here... The only way to escape your possible death is to update your story.

*a little bit TOO cheerfully* Well, what are you waiting for?! Update it now! It's your only way out!

I'm scared. Suzaku, become my knight o_o Maybe even partner up with Rolo. He'll stab you both after he freezes you for 5 seconds! e_e

Schneizel, Euphemia, Lelouch and Suzaku all remained quiet in the back of the black Hummer Limousine. It had been silent the entire time, not because they felt awkward, but because they seemed to be lost in their own thoughts, especially Suzaku who only stared out the window. Lelouch would frequently sideways glance his friend as if checking up on him. Euphemia did this as well, looking down at her dress and tugging at the white ruffles, and then slightly peering at the Japanese boy with a gloomy expression. Prince Schneizel was different though; he had an emotionless exterior. If he were thinking about something, it was in possible to figure out by just observing him.

Finally breaking free from his thoughts, Suzaku seemed to just now be noticing the two objects in his hands; brown cat ears in the form of a headband and a white bracelet. These items had been given to him by Kallen just before he left. Apparently, in District Eleven, Japanese people could be rounded up by patrolling police or soldiers and sent to N.E.K.O or thrown to the ghettos if they were caught without some sort of identification of being owned by a Britannian. Though it is okay to have just the bracelet with the ID number, Kallen claimed it was better to have both so nobody would think him a runaway if they didn't see the bracelet on his wrist. Suzaku sighed quietly and slipped on the wristlet, making sure it went over the long, white sleeve of his uniform and then eyed the cat ears.

Everyone, even Schneizel looked at the Japanese boy as he scowled at the accessory.

"Just put it on, Suzaku…" Euphemia murmured. "It'll keep you out of trouble."

"But it's degrading."

"It's not," Lelouch abruptly retorted, causing Suzaku to turn to him. "It's only degrading because you think it is. People used to wear things like that for fun, didn't they? Britannians only labeled it as meaning to be owned; if they hadn't, nobody would think that's what it symbolized."

The pink haired girl nodded in agreement. "That's right! So don't believe it, okay?"

Suzaku glanced at both of them before looking down at the cat ears. "Well…"

In a swift move, Lelouch snatched the headband from Suzaku. "Look at me." The Japanese boy did just that. He watched as Lelouch placed the cat ears on his head. "There's no need to make a big deal about this little accessory. In fact, I think you look adorable with it on."

The fixed expression that Lelouch usually wore turned bright and his lips formed a smile. This became contagious because both Euphemia and Suzaku returned this smile. However, Schneizel who seemed to still be lost in his thoughts had actually been listening to them, and he raised an eyebrow. When his half-siblings returned to doing their own thing, Schneizel watched and waited until Suzaku looked at the blond prince, having sensed being stared at.

Schneizel shot Suzaku a menacing glare and shook his head slightly. The brown haired boy was suddenly reminded of the threat he had been given from the man yesterday and looked down at his lap.

Refusing to have to endure another glower, he stayed like that the entire ride.

The woman at the front desk had been on the line with someone when they entered the hospital lobby. She had the white phone pressed against the side of her head with the support of her shoulder as she typed, but when she took note of Schneizel, she quickly said, "Oh! I'm going to have to ask you to hold on, ma'am." There was a pause and the nurse blinked, raised an eyebrow and then nearly slammed the phone back into its holder before she smiled amiably to Schneizel and the others. "Good morning, prince. What can I help you with?"

The blond returned the sweet smile. "Well, we have this friend who was…"

Suzaku lost his attentiveness to the exchange between Schneizel and the nurse when he felt a small hand tug at his own. He looked down to see a little Britannian boy with chestnut colored locks of hair and big, blue eyes staring up at him. "You look so cool!" He said with a voice full of awe. "Are you a neko? Do you turn into a cat sometimes?"

From the side, Euphemia elbowed Lelouch.

The surprised Japanese boy scratched the back of his head, not expecting to have won over a fan just because of a headband. "Well, actually-"

He was interrupted by the excited little boy. "Cause I like cats a lot. I wish I had ears too. And that I could turn into a cat. Then I wouldn't have to take a bath. I could just lick myself. Do you take baths or do you lick yourself? C-Can I touch your ears? Just once; pretty please with a cherry on top?"

Suzaku was at a loss of words. He didn't want to tell the boy his ears weren't real, but if he touched them, it'd probably be easy to figure out. "Well…"

Lelouch took the spotlight. "I wouldn't touch them if I were you."

The boy turned his head towards the prince, seeming interested. "Why not?"

"Because…" He had to think for a second. "Human contact makes them fall off."

"Fall off? That stinks," the small lips frowned, disappointed. He then looked at Suzaku. "I wouldn't want them to fall off. Then you wouldn't be a kitty anymore, right?"

"…that's right," Suzaku said. "And then I would have to take baths."

The boy's big eyes peered left and right before he leaned forward and whispered, "I don't like baths either. My mum makes me do it."

Almost as if out of nowhere, a woman who appeared to be in her early thirties with the same physical qualities of the boy came and grabbed his arm, yanking him away from Suzaku and tapping his shoulder with somewhat force. "Stop it right now. What did I tell you about walking off like that?"

"You were only right over there though…" He murmured innocently.

She shook her head. "I don't care, now come sit back down." As the boy was being dragged back to the other side of the lobby, he peeked over his shoulder back at Suzaku, and waved. "Bye kitty boy!"

Suzaku smiled and waved back before glancing at Lelouch. "…Thank you for that."

The Britannian prince shrugged. "It was no problem...but you owe me now."

"And he never changes."

"No, he does not," Lelouch added.

"R-Rolo! What do you think you are doing?" Came the voice of a disapproved nurse.

The lobby became hushed and all that could be heard was the sound of the many TVs that either played the news, drama shows or cartoons. Everyone looked in the direction of the voice and watched as Rolo came out from the corridor and into the waiting room. He was just now pulling the kimono Suzaku had seen him wearing yesterday over his bandaged left shoulder, and he didn't look very happy.

The nurse who had been speaking to Schneizel now stood up from her seat behind the desk. "Rolo! You aren't scheduled for release for another hour. Go back to your room; you need the rest! And where's your hospital attire? How'd you even get your clothes back? They are under lock and key."

The male stopped only a few feet from the exit. He glanced back at the nurse and then walked over to her, slamming the keys down on the desk. "There you go." After that, he pushed past Suzaku and the others and exited the hospital.

"That boy…" the nurse murmured. "He's been acting like that since he got here."

"You guys stay here." Suzaku hurried towards to exit and when he got outside, he squinted as if he had forgotten how sunny it was today. Rolo was not too far away, standing there on the vacant sidewalk like a lost boy. Suzaku had expected him to be on his way to N.E.K.O right now, but he was doing the complete opposite. It was as if he had no idea what to do next. And it made Suzaku wonder; if they had just left him there, would he ever move or would he just stay there?

The Japanese boy walked over and stopped beside Rolo. "Hey, what are you still doing here? Isn't Anya waiting for you? Wasn't that the reason you wanted to leave earlier then intended?"

He shrugged. "I don't even know anymore."

"Come on, Rolo-"

"Why do you even care?" The 16 year old snapped, turning his whole body to Suzaku. "I set you up back in N.E.K.O, remember? I lied to you, locked you up, and I did it knowing where I was sending you."

"But you let me go."

"Schneizel was there. His authority goes above District Eleven itself. If he hadn't been there, then I would have-" Rolo felt himself get pulled into a hug, and suddenly he could hear the beating of the brunette's heart, his head against his chest. "I would…have…"

Suzaku had the smaller male trapped in an embrace. "This is about Anya, isn't it?"

"About Anya…" Rolo repeated quietly. His eyes began to moisten and he squeezed them shut in hopes that tears wouldn't fall, but they ended up escaping from his closed eyelids, and running down his cheeks. "Anya…I-I made her cry. I made her cry, Suzaku. I saw it happen. Just before they put me in the back of the ambulance truck…she was crying." As if ashamed of his teary face, Rolo buried it into Suzaku's shirt. "She never cries. Never…not once, for as long as I've known her, has she ever done that. And I caused her to." He finally returned the embrace Suzaku had given him. "She's like a little sister to me. I just wanted to protect her from those Elevens. That's all…"

"Well maybe Anya wanted to protect you, too. You said she's like family, right?"

Rolo looked up with tear-filled eyes. "Yes….like family. But I don't really have a one."

"Of course you do," Suzaku replied simply. He pulled back from the boy and made strong eye contact with him. "What do you think a family is?"

"When one is related to others by blood or share similar genetics and DNA," Rolo retorted rather stiffly.

The Japanese male was somewhat taken back by the dull and accurate response and blinked before saying, "That's a start, but I meant coming up with your own definition. A family doesn't specifically have to be one who shares…those things with you. You have your own family back at N.E.K.O."

"…but nobody there is related to me by blood-"

"Okay, Rolo," Suzaku interrupted, placing a hand on the boy's head. "You're thinking way too much. Relax. I'm talking about Anya. And not just her; Cecile and Lloyd too, maybe even Kiki if you-"

"I hate her."

"Good to know." Suzaku said, taking his hand off of Rolo's head. "But do you see what I mean? Anya, Cecile and Lloyd are all important to you, right?" Rolo nodded. "You'd protect them if you could, wouldn't you?" He nodded again. "That's also another meaning of family."

Rolo's lips weren't smiling, but his eyes were. "Thank you, Suzaku." He avoided looking the older boy in the face. "…You're also my family too…because I would want to protect you too…" This came out a little awkward, but Suzaku smiled anyway.

The attempted break in that occurred at N.E.K.O last night appeared to still be a very fresh subject because when the limousine stopped and everyone looked out the windows, police cars, soldiers and news reporters were still outside of the building. Even yellow police tape still surrounded the entrance.

On the sidelines, Cecile and Lloyd stood watching the police men wander all around the building. Anya, who was propped on Lloyd's back, had her arms wrapped around the man's neck, her legs around his waist and her face buried into his shoulder. Though the pink haired girl had been told that she could take a nap, she refused to do so and her eyes had bags under them. All she could think about was Rolo.

For what felt like the twentieth time, her eyelids threatened to close, until she heard Cecile.

"Rolo..? Suzaku?!"

Anya's eyes flew open to see Rolo and a couple of others, emerging from a black limousine. She slid down from Lloyd's back and started to run towards him. "Rolo!"

The 16 year old was tackled and almost knocked over before he even managed to turn around. He had to look down at her because he didn't even see who she was, but the pink hair gave it away. "Anya!" He exclaimed, wrapping his arms around her. Suzaku smiled at them, feeling relief wash over him.

It was a good feeling while it lasted.

"I THOUGHT YOU LIKED ME! WASN'T I YOUR FAVORITE? W-WASN'T I? IT'S NOT LIKE I KILLED ANYONE, DAMNIT! DON'T LET THEM TAKE ME!"

The angered scream resulted in the entire area within hearing range to become silent. Suzaku turned his head in the direction it came from. Near the entrance of the N.E.K.O building, stood Isaac, a couple of uniformed soldiers, none with their helmets on, and a Japanese boy who seemed somewhat older than Suzaku. He had the same kind of complexion as Suzaku except his hair was black and his eyes were very dark. His build was a slim and the clothing he was currently wearing was all black. Two of the men had the struggling individual restrained, and even though it was two on one, he was giving them trouble. "Isaac! ISAAC! PLEASE! I did nothing I swear!"

A blond soldier had himself firmly planted between the dramatic Japanese male and Isaac. "Oh, put a sock in it, would you?! He's made up his mind already so shut your trap!"

"Is that Rory?" Lelouch inquired quietly from beside Suzaku.

The brown-haired boy squinted, and it turned out that the man defending Isaac was indeed Officer Rory.

They watched as Rory turned to address Isaac, and when the nobleman nodded, he went over to go and join in subduing the thrashing male. It seemed to only take Rory's additional strength because they started making progress in dragging him towards the police cars. "Isaaaaaccc….!"

Isaac sighed, turning his attention elsewhere. The first person he noticed was Suzaku, and he blinked in a dumbfounded manner as if wondering why he'd be here, and then he saw Schneizel.

There was an exchange between them that lasted for a while, and they were far away enough so that they couldn't be heard. Once it was over, the two walked back over.

"If you want to come by afterwards, you're welcome to, Isaac," Schneizel was saying.

"Oh, I don't know if I will, but thank you for the offer," Isaac replied with an obviously forced smile.

Euphemia was frowning. "Are you okay?"

"Yes, I'm okay."

Schneizel made a little eye contact with Isaac before turning his back and heading towards the limousine, silently signaling to everyone else that they were leaving. Suzaku watched as they started to trail behind the Prince, and then turned to Isaac.

"You're not okay, are you?" The Japanese boy asked quietly.

Seeming to have been caught off guard, Isaac's eyes lit up. He patted the top of Suzaku's head. "I'm just fine." He then turned and left, leaving Suzaku now as the one blinking in a dumbfound manner.

"Excuse me?"

"You heard me," Lelouch retorted briskly. "I want nothing to do with N.E.K.O. much less District Eleven or even Area Eleven. If Britannia wanted Sakuradite, negotiating a trade would have been just fine. Starting all of this was unnecessary."

Schneizel was sitting back in his chair with a glint of annoyance showing in his blue eyes. The two were in his office, having meant to be discussing what part of Area Eleven Lelouch would want to be in charge of when he came of age, but instead the idea was being rejected all together. If Schneizel said something, Lelouch would shove it right back in his face with a couple of sentences that summarized as, 'Nothing you say or do can get me to agree with this'. This had lasted almost fifteen minutes already and frankly, he was getting tired of it.

"This isn't just about Sakuradite, and you know it. We also wanted power." Schneizel noticed Lelouch's shoulders tense up a bit, and pushed the subject further. "So? Where's your come back, little brother? What other way can you gain power? Or go ahead and give me a whole monologue on why power makes one corrupt. I'm all ears."

The raven-haired boy had a solid expression, but on the inside, he was frantically trying to come up with a response. But his mind seemed blocked. His brain was on empty. "Well…"

"Well?" The older brother probed.

"You're right. Power…does make one corrupt…" Lelouch was desperately trying to piece together an satisfying answer. "And…Britannia could have had power. Allies are power, aren't they? If we had befriended Japan instead of-"

Schneizel slammed his fist down on the desk in front of him, causing Lelouch to flinch and stop mid-sentence. "You're just making shit up as you go along!" He said through gritted teeth, standing up and reaching over the desk to grab Lelouch's wrist. The younger brother was suddenly very pale-faced and he tried to pull away. "Look what you've done now, Lelouch. Look how you made me turn out!"

Lelouch was still urgently attempting to break free, and Schneizel took this as his opportunity to let go, and this turned gravity against Lelouch, resulting in him falling back on the floor. As Schneizel started to round the desk and walk towards the smaller prince, Lelouch scrambled to his feet, trying to reach the door. He managed to open it, but Schneizel slammed it shut with one hand.

Lelouch had to face him now, his back pressed against the door. "P-Please open the door…"

"You make me so angry," Schneizel whispered, completely ignoring his little brother's plead. "Almost everything that comes out of that little adorable mouth of yours angers me, you know that? Having to deal with that for most of your life, can you imagine? Couldn't do anything about it…or so that's what I used to think." The blond reached up and touched Lelouch's face which seemed to trigger a few tears and hitched breathing. "This reminds me of when you used to cry whenever I disciplined you."

"That wasn't discipline…something's wrong with you…y-you two faced…asshole…"

Schneizel slapped Lelouch.

It wasn't hard enough to leave any marks on his cheek. But it did string. However, Lelouch refused to make any noise to indicate this. He only turned his head back to face Schneizel and looked him square in the eyes as if asking for another one. He didn't want a second one. In fact, this wasn't anything compared to what Schneizel could do, and he was hoping this would be all he did today.

"Apologize to your big brother."

"…No…"

A second slap; and it stung more than the first. This time, Lelouch did cry out a little bit and he allowed himself to slide down against the door, all the way to the ground, leaving him in a sitting position at Schneizel's feet. The older man crouched down beside the raven-haired boy.

"Say you're sorry. You hurt my feelings."

No response.

"I could always discipline you some more…just like when we were younger," Schneizel threatened softly.

"Sorry," Lelouch murmured with a lowered head. He was ashamed that even after so many years, that just hearing similar threats like that still made him shrink; made him feel so weak.

Schneizel smiled and tilted Lelouch's head up by the chin, beginning to lean in.

"NO!" Both of Lelouch's hand shot forward, coming into contact with his older brother's chest. The shove hadn't been strong enough to knock him over, but he did stop, and that was enough for Lelouch. "You're rejecting my kiss?"

"It just proves how two-faced you are," Lelouch retorted. He got up to his feet, ready to leave, feeling a new acquired strength. Until he was grabbed by the wrist again.

"Hey!" The grip was a surprisingly tight one and he glanced over his shoulder to see Schneizel on his feet too, staring at him in a cold manner. "You're hurting me…"

"I want my kiss."

"M-My lips are chapped. You don't want to kiss me right now," Lelouch stammered.

Schneizel released his grip and eyed the younger brother for a while before trapping him with his back against the door once more. He gave Lelouch a warning look. "I said I want my kiss."
