Hope everyone's enjoying so far, it's gonna get interesting now…dum dum duuuuuuum! Will everything be ok back on Earth? Will Thranduil open his eyes to his ever-growing feelings he so easily hides? And will they ever find Kili? Time for me to make up my mind haha.

Blinding white light awoke Marina in a warm quiet room. She was on a soft surface again, lying on her front, a duvet covered her shaking body. Slowly she opened her heavy eyes, praying that the portal had worked. At the same time, she hoped it hadn't. Deep down she didn't want to leave, but she couldn't let Kili and Thranduil down. As long as she was in another dimension, they would hopefully be better off. Her eyes squinted and she started seeing her surroundings clearly. It was her room. Her posters and wardrobe were still there, her mess of dirty clothes and empty bottles littered the floor. She was home. But it didn't feel like home. It felt so very very wrong. Her real home was back on Middle Earth with her real family. A place that at least a few people accepted her for what she was. A faint murmur came from downstairs. Marina wondered if her 'mother' had heard her return. It must have made some kind of noise. Plus she had been away for at least a few days. Surely they'd be a little worried considering she was half dead when they last saw her. She looked outside and was shocked to see her beautiful view was no longer beautiful. The water in the river was gone. Completely gone. All that was left was little puddles and dead fish upon black sand. All foliage had been burned. It was terrible. The only natural beautiful thing left was the sun casting a violently bright light upon the once magnificent River Clyde. Houses were boarded up, litter ran down the street and sirens could be heard coming from Glasgow.

"Ok so THIS must be a dream" Marina whispered, praying it was. She made her way downstairs and found her other mother and sister in the living room goggle eyed to the television. They didn't look up when she entered. Obviously she couldn't have been away that long. Either that or they had given up on her completely. Marina turned to look at the TV. Her eyes widened. It was the news lady, telling the nation they everybody had to leave. Riots were appearing out of nowhere, tides were drastically changing, the internet had gone, the UK was going mad.

"We have been told that the trouble is spreading throughout Europe and is on its way around the globe. Nobody knows the source of this tragedy, but experts are doing everything they can to find the reason behind these unnatural events."

Marina gulped. Was it her transition between worlds that was causing Earth to crumble away to nothing? Or was it something else? Could those on Middle Earth have powers to make her want to come back? It couldn't be Thranduil, he couldn't care less about her. Either way, she knew her actions had something to do with the tragedies that were unfolding around her and she had to safe her families. She got up and chose her words carefully, "Mum, sister, I am very sorry, but I believe I know how to fix the world. I have been to a place where I know I truly belong, which is far away from here. This place has taught be many things, and one of them is that I don't deserve this family. You are too kind and too forgiving of my disastrous actions over the past few years, and I do apologize for them. Mum, thank you for bringing me up, you did the best job, but I'm not meant to be here. I think you know what I'm talking about." Her mum only nodded slightly. "Sister, I'm sorry I was never there for you when you needed me growing up, but you've done so well so far without me, I doubt you'll need me now. I probably won't ever see you again…I love you…and…I'm sorry" Marina then ran out the house, tears streaming down her eyes from the pain of never seeing her family again. It is true, you never realise how precious something is until you lose it, and losing the family she grew up with was almost enough for her to not want to return to Middle Earth, which scared her to the core. It was the thought of both her father and Thranduil both in mortal danger and only herself to save at least one of them that kept her going all the way up the moorlands, fighting the heather bushes, looking to find the same place she was when her dear friend Bilbo had brought her to Middle Earth whilst badly hungover. She hadn't even said goodbye to him. She didn't realise how much she'd missed him, and it had only been half a day. God knows what had happened already between her family and the horrible goblins to reclaim her father.

*Fili POV* The whole time Marina's happening only slower.(time is wibbily wobbily)

"Where's Marina?" Fili asked aloud to the company as they were packing up. They were no longer taking their camping gear with them, for they were heading for battle against the goblins on the plains between Mirkwood and the Misty Mountains. Anything that was considered not a weapon was hidden in the woods and would be found again afterwards. The sun was yet to come up for quite a few hours as they planned to find Kili first and then fight the Goblins and for any reason they would be losing, the sun would be at their advantage. Bilbo turned to face Fili and responded,

"I saw her leave last night, she had a god awful dream and ran and didn't come back"

He got went back to packing but Fili wouldn't let him. He grabbed him and turned him back fast.

"What!? And you didn't think to follow her and see where she went? What if she's in danger?"

Bilbo sighed. He knew she needed to go home. After everything she had already been through she needed something she was used to. He had let her take his portal ball and didn't bother to follow her incase he had a change of thought and pulled her back.

"She had been exploited by the King of Mirkwood and needed time on her own to adjust. Neither of them will own up to their own feelings for each other because of their pasts and the daunting thoughts of today's battle probably sparked her nightmares. She's clearly in love with him and we all saw the way he looked at her the whole time we were there. She'll be back once she realises she belongs here and will be able to help us."

By this time the entire company was string at the small hobbit, mouths wide open. Dwarves weren't very good at recognising signs of affection the same way hobbits were. Bilbo only rolled his eyes and muttered, "The power of love is truly a complicated yet simple act of passion, I'll never understand it."

Fili paused after that, and finally managed, "But will she be safe? Will she return?"

Bilbo raised an eyebrow, "Of course she will, wouldn't you?"

*Thranduil POV*same time as Marina waking up*

The King stood at the huge window looking out into the forest. His rage had subsided and had been replaced with confusion and longing. The elf servants around him lay unconscious on the floor after he had taken his anger out on them trying to find out what was the matter. While he stood there, gazing into the night sky, he thought of marina, and why she would want to leave. She was very content with her life here, what had changed her mind? He had seen the way she cast aside her talent and knowledge every other night on Earth with a bottle of wine and a stranger at his house. He had looked down on her, with no feelings at all for her, not even sorrow. Now, on the other hand, he was worried for her safety which confused him to the core.

"So, this is how it feels to care" Thranduil finally murmured to himself, his shoulders shrunk, his hands lowered to his sides. Elves were bound to one and only one significant other in their entire lifetime, and Legolas's mother had died many centuries ago. Marina had reawakened those feelings and he had hidden from them, afraid of what they would do to his reputation. Now, however, he didn't care about that. He didn't care about the guests upstairs awaiting a party, his son returning from a six month quest in the south, his wine needing drunk. All he wanted was to know that Marina was safe, and on Earth after everything she had seen and done, there was very little chance she could be, for when somebody cuts through different realities so soon, paradoxes are created and time and reality are disrupted. He only hoped she wouldn't plan to come back very soon…

Wow you guys have no idea how difficult this was to write. Hate talking about 'normal' life it's too boring. Anyway sorry my family SORRY marina's family are boring and kinda lifeless but they're not important coz its Middle Earth and everyone should live there that deserves to. Thanks for the favs, review etc. Next chapter hopefully within the next fortnight.
