She grows weaker by the day, although she tries to hide it from her love, brother and friends. The whispers are still relentless, torturing her mind more frequently. The Aether is rising within. Evalith rose from their bed to find the other side empty. Looking from side to side too quickly Evalith ended up making herself dizzy when she heard a small laugh from the door. Loki stepped in, wearing nothing but his silk pants, rather low to be precise. He was holding a silver tray, full of Asgardian delicacies for breakfast. A rack of lamb, poached eggs, an array of fruits (he knew her favourites of course) the freshest breads and sweet tea. She covered her face with a pillow, trying to hide the fact she was blushing uncontrollably. Loki set the tray down and walked over to the bed, "Why are you covering your face? You're too beautiful to be doing such a thing." Catching a glimpse of her flushed cheeks he crossed his arms, standing back up toward the desk. "I thought you liked it when I wore next to nothing?" His eyes were a brighter green this morning, and his smile totally caught Evalith off guard. "You self-centred –! Don't say such a thing out loud! Someone might hear and as a matter of fact –!" Before she could finished, he appeared by her side. You mischievous – And before she could finish her thought, he grabbed her for a hug, holding her face, he kissed her softly, "I love that face you pull when you're angry!" She couldn't help but hug him back, "Loki Laufeyson what am I going to do with you?" She smiled genuinely this time, for the first time in days.
A knock on the door jolted Evalith as Loki patted her head, "Who is it?" Loki called out. Fandral answered from the other side of the door, "I'm here to tell Evalith that there has been news of fire demons running rampant in east Vanaheim and that she is needed in the War Room." Evalith peeked around her tricky God, "You know you're coming right? No matter what anyone thinks. I'm in charge while Allfather is still under Odinsleep, so it's my call." Loki leaned on her shoulder, "As you wish my princess."
Evalith entered the War Room, Loki followed behind. Thor greeted his sister, nodding at Loki. The Lady Sif sighed at the sight. "So what do we know?" Evalith watched the map glide over the table, the Nine Realms present. Thor pointed to Vanaheim, "Fire demons are said to be destroying small villages, and we need to go, destroy them." Thor, Evalith, Loki and the Warrior Three travelled through the Bifrost, immediately entering the area of fire and destruction. The fire demons screeched as they burned everything around. "They have to be at least, 10 feet tall, I say brute force and crush them!" Volstagg was ready, carefully watching his footing while going down the hill toward the beasts. Thunder cracked in the sky as Thor launched in to the air. "But down fire demons live in Muspelheim, to the south? It's not in their nature to venture out like this." Sif dove as a ball of fire came hurling towards her. Thor and Mjlonir came crunching down on another demons faces thunder roared throughout the skies. Loki swiftly intertwined between flames, slashing the torsos of the giant demons. "I still don't understand how they could have even made it so far out" Fandral leapt backwards, moustache remaining in perfect order, narrowly missing the spitting fire. "And why does he have to be here, for all we know this is his doing!" Volstagg ushered to Loki, who, even in the middle of battle between to fire demons, still had time to roll his eyes. Evalith was behind helping the farmers and villagers leave the valley, creating a force field allowing them to pass through.
Kill them.
She felt as though her head was being pierced by daggers, the force field began to fade, the Goddesses hands began to shake in a cold sweat. "Evalith look out!" Fandral shouted as a rain of fire came rushing toward her. The whole realm seemed to slow down. Turning, her eyes were glazed silver as her skin began to crack. With a slight nod of her head, the fire was pushed away, back towards the demons. A piece of debris managed to cut her neck, causing a deeper and wider crack along her neck and collarbone. The blood came oozing out. "Huh", Evalith moved the blood between her fingers. It was extremely dark, darker than normal blood.
Aether.
A growl escaped her lips and slamming her foot the ground began to split, stones crushing one demon. Thor, Loki and the others turned to her, looks of confusion on their faces. Thor stepped forward first, "Evalith, are you alright?" The Goddess simply moved past, gently rising into the air. The blood was falling from her hands, she extended them out in front of her. The blood rushed and stabbed through the fire demons, howls of pain ringing through the air. Fire and ash in every which way, passing on either side of Evalith. Thor grabbed Sif's arm, making sure she didn't fall. Loki covered if face, but not being able to look away from his love. Fandral and Volstagg held on the stones, the wind bashing against them.
The sun shone through the clouds and valley, Evalith sank the demons back in the core of their own realm. The colour returned to her face, and her pale lilac eyes blinked open. Slowly, she came back down collapsing to the ground. "Evalith! Evalith! Wake up! Don't leave me again!" Loki, held her up, supporting her head and shoulders. Thor kneeled on her other side, holding her hand, watching the blood dry up. "She's breathing Loki, but we need to get her back to Asgard now."
Aether floated around her. So beautiful she thought. The colour of deep ruby jewels. She looked down, simply swaying in the dark nothingness.
Now was that so bad?
Okay, so I'm kinda pleased with how this chapter came out. And I hope you all like it! Remember to leave a review, it really helps!
