*knock knock*
*knock knock*
"Trish?" Ally's voice muffled through the door.
"Mmmrmm."
"Trish!" the brunette kept knocking.
"Ugh," the Latina grunted. She knew her friend wouldn't stop until she opened the door. Grudgingly, Trish picked herself up off her bed and dragged her feet to the door and opened it.
"Oh good, you're up. I was worried I woke you," Ally said as she brisked through the door and sat at the edge of her best friend's bed.
"Hey. Hi. Good morning. Yes, I'm doing well, thank you," Trish said sarcastically after Ally rushed inside. She closed the door and made her way back to her bed.
"Trish, get up! Aunt Lisa said you were up early this morning," Ally tried prying the sheets off her best friend.
"Yeah but when Lisa said they had a few errands to run I went back to bed and got lazy," Trish grunted.
"Oh... sorry did I wake you?" the brunette asked.
"What do you want, Alls?" Trish wanted to get to the point.
"Well, I'm still mad that you guys tried to set us up last night," Ally mentioned.
"Oh yeah... Our bad," Trish lazily responded. She knew Ally could never stay mad anyways. Her best friend was just trying to be tough.
"But, if it weren't for you guys, I wouldn't have had a great night last night," Ally sheepishly grinned.
"That's great, Ally," Trish was finally waking up, smiling at her friend's news. "What did you guys end up doing? Still watched the movie?"
"Of course, Trish. It's Grease!" Ally said like it was an obvious answer.
The Latina chuckled at her friend.
"But after the movie Austin and I hung out and..."
"And...?"
Ally decided to pace back and forth in the room, hesitant to speak.
"Ally, you woke me up from my sleep. Just spill already," Trish threw a pillow at her friend.
"Ow!" Ally said when the fluffy white fabric smacked her face.
"Was trying to knock some sense into you so you stop pacing," Trish chuckled.
"Well, I could use some sense," Ally sighed. "Austin and I kissed."
If Trish wasn't already waking up from her nap, this news certainly did it.
"YOU KISSED?! OH MY GOD YAY!" she shrieked as she hugged her friend.
"Thanks, Trish," Ally giggled. "But why am I so confused?"
"Confused about what?"
"Austin."
"Do you like him?"
"Yeah."
"Does he like you?"
"I think so."
"Then I don't see how it's confusing."
"Yeah but, we barely had time to talk after the kiss. It happened and the night ended. Ah I'm so nervous to see him today. What do I say?" Ally spazzed out.
Trish chuckled at her.
"Why are you laughing in a time of crisis?" Ally asked.
Trish got up and hugged her friend before she spoke up. "This is the Ally I remember. The old Ally."
"I guess Austin just brings out the old Ally in me. He's reminding me who I was. Or am. I think?" Ally chuckled.
"Then why are you so nervous about this? He clearly likes you back?"
"Doesn't... Doesn't Austin still have a girlfriend?"
"So what are you kids doing tonight?" Lisa asked while preparing dinner.
"We don't really have any big plans," Trish said.
"Ally honey, aren't you going out tonight?" she asked her niece.
"Uh, no? I don't think so Aunt Lisa," Ally was confused.
"George, I thought you said Austin was going to drop by here tonight for Ally?"
Ally and Trish grew wide-eyed.
"What's he here to see Ally for?" Dez asked before taking a bite of his snack. He was still oblivious to the events from that morning.
"Oh that's right. He did tell me he was going to drop by tonight," George had just remembered.
"Are you serious?!" Ally grew nervous.
"Ally, your uncle just said he was, duh," Dez said in an obvious tone.
"Why didn't he say anything to you?" Trish asked. "Did you forget?"
"No, we barely got a chance to talk today," Ally said. "A lot of deliveries kept everyone busy."
"Then how do you know, George?" Trish asked.
"Well, I was egging him about this morning," He said as he winked at his niece, prompting her to turn red in the fac with embarrassment, "then he asked my permission to take Ally out on a date."
"He did? Aw!" Trish cooed.
"Honey, I don't think Ally was supposed to know that then," Lisa laughed.
"You're the one who mentioned Austin dropping by, dear," George chuckled.
"Wait, Austin's going on a date with Ally?" Dez was confused.
"Oh my God, can we please change the subject," Ally was trying to hide her heated face.
"Yeah, but he's got to ask her first," Trish said.
"Please God, if there is a God, change the subject!" Ally begged.
"Am I missing something?" the redhead wondered.
"A little birdie told me that Austin and Ally had a great night," Lisa teased.
"Kill me now," Ally face-palmed.
"Nice," Dez held out his fist to "bump" Ally's. She deadpanned her guy best friend and he instead fist bumped himself.
As if on cue, a knock was heard at the door.
"I wonder who that could be," George smirked, knowing quite well whom it was. A moment later he walked in with a certain blond they were all talking about.
"Austin, what a surprise!" Lisa exclaimed.
"Uh hey guys," Austin said nervously.
Dez, Trish, Lisa and George were smiling ear to ear, and Ally tried but failed to hide her rosy cheeks.
"Okay everyone, let's give the two some space. Why don't we move this to the living room and let the two talk in here," Lisa suggested.
"No, I wanna know why Austin's here," Dez said, having another bite of his food.
Trish smacked his head. "You're a doof."
"Austin, let's talk outside," Ally suggested, having Austin follow her out the door.
After they walked a good distance from the house, in case someone felt like eavesdropping, Ally's cheeks were cooling down from the night breeze.
"I'm sorry about them," Ally tried to start the conversation.
"It's alright," Austin smiled. Ally noticed that he was a bit dressed that night.
"So..."
"So... uh, hi," he began.
"Hi," she returned the greeting.
"Oh, just ask her out already!" Dez yelled from the window. Trish hit him again on the arm and decided that spying was no use so she closed the curtain and continued to beat the living daylight out of the redhead.
"I'm going to kill Dez," Ally face-palmed.
"I'm sure Trish is doing that already," Austin chuckled.
"So... why are you here?" Ally asked him.
"Don't I always come here after dinner to go on adventures with you?" he replied.
"Yeah, but since we barely talked today I thought we'd skip tonight."
"Good point," Austin said. "Or... maybe we can do something else?"
"Like what?"
"Like... go out?"
"Oh," Ally smiled, letting her blush show.
"Um, Ally, would you like to have dinner with me tonight?"
"I'd love to," she beamed. "Give me like 10 minutes okay?"
"Okay," he smiled back.
Ally rushed inside, only to be teased by everyone of course. She changed her clothes and retouched her makeup, wanting to leave the house as soon as she could. Once she came back out, Austin opened his truck door and let her in, smiling again before closing it and drove off.
Austin took Ally to their spot beneath the tree. Ally played along but was somewhat confused.
"I thought you said we'd do something different tonight?" Ally wondered. "Don't get me wrong though, I love our spot."
"I know," Austin chuckled. "This may seem like any old night, but I do want this to be a date. I figured, every other guy would take a girl out to a nice restaurant and enjoy a nice meal. But I couldn't think of a better place to take you than to our spot."
"Aw, that's sweet," Ally admired his planning.
The truck stopped and he let her out after opening the door. The sun was beginning to set, giving them the most beautiful view.
"So what about the meal part?" she asked.
"I thought what better first date than to have a picnic under the stars," he said as he pulled a basket from the back of his truck out.
"Sounds perfect," Ally gushed inside. She was a sucker for this and Austin had her like putty.
After enjoying a nice meal, Austin and Ally settled into their regular routine of conversations and what not. Though in the back of her mind, Ally was still wondering what they were. After a good amount of talking, Austin noticed some of Ally's hair had fallen to her face, since she was only able to make a messy bun in her rush to get ready, so he reached over to tuck the strand behind her ear. Her spine shivered from his warm touch and she smiled at him. This was a cue for him to lean over and kiss the beautiful girl in front of him. She was about to deepen the kiss, she really wanted to, but she was still clouded with her thoughts. So she ended the kiss after a few seconds. This caught Austin off guard and he wondered what went wrong.
"I'm sorry if I was too forward," Austin apologized.
"No, it's okay, Austin, she patted his hand. "It's just..."
"What's wrong, Ally?" he grew worried. "You can tell me anything."
"It's just... this feels wrong," she confessed.
"Oh... um.. Yeah, I guess. We're really good friends so this just-"
"No, I like you Austin. I really like you," Ally was shocked that she was able to admit that to him.
"Me too," he smiled cheek to cheek. "So what's wrong?"
"Kira..."
"Kira?"
"Yeah, your girlfriend?" Ally reluctantly reminded him.
"Oh," Austin chuckled. "Now I understand."
Ally was confused, why was he so cool with this?
"Ally," he grabbed a hold of both her hands, "I broke up with Kira."
"You did?" she was surprised by the answer.
"Yeah. Days ago. The night... the night we were supposed to have dinner," he admitted.
"But... huh?" she was confused.
"Look," Austin prepared to lay down the truth, "I can assure you I am not a cheater. I'm a very loyal person. Ask anyone. Kira and I weren't meant to be anymore. But that was before you even got here. Ever since you got here and we rekindled our friendship, I've been thinking a lot about you, and a lot of you as more than a friend. So I asked her to come back so we could talk. After I asked you out, I met with her at a diner and we talked it out. Turns out she doesn't feel the spark anymore either so we were cool with it. I gave her a hug and we went our separate ways."
Suddenly, everything was beginning to make sense to Ally.
"I gotta admit, I was scary jealous when you blew me off for Dallas that night," Austin said.
"If we're confessing," Ally began, "I was at the same diner and I saw you. I was going to go up to you until I saw Kira, I guess, and I took it the wrong way. I'm sorry, are you mad?"
"Of course not," he smiled. "So, were you just with Dallas to get me jealous? Because it worked."
They both laughed.
"Ever since you came back into my life, I've never been more happy," he kissed her cheek.
"Truth is, I never really liked a guy the way I like you, Austin. Not even with Ethan. I don't think I ever really liked him."
"So tell me, what way do you like about this Austin fella," the blond joked.
Ally giggled at his faux behavior. "Well, this Austin fella brings out the old Ally. Even when we were younger and I had a crush on you. No other guy ever gave me that feeling that butterflies in your stomach feel, and when I saw you again, those feelings came back," she admitted.
"Just for the record, I like the old Ally much better," he winked.
"Me too," she smiled. They kissed once more, this time Ally allowed herself to deepen it.
For the first time that night, she finally felt at peace. Her world was beginning to look better, almost perfect.
Maybe a bit too perfect...
