11. Saving the Soldier

Abigail kept her shawl covering her head and lowered as the armed soldiers walked past the shadowed doorway she hid in. To anyone not bothering at a closer look, she was just another gutter rat, trying to stay warm and out of the weather. As the remaining troops marched past, Abigail slipped through the bustling streets, moving like shadow. Always there but not even bothered to give a second glance at anymore. Her path took her to a small out of the way café where a blond haired man sat near the far side of the commons.

She headed that way, blending in with her surroundings. Playing the part like she was born into it. Slipping into the vacate seat opposite the man, she smiled for the first time. Her eyes lit up, making the forest green change to a sparking emerald.

"You look like you've done well for yourself, Barton." She commented, going over him with her eyes.

The man smiled, leaning back as the ever day noise covered their meeting. "Not so bad yourself, but that's not why I'm here."

The woman's smile dropped, leaning closer to the man. "I told you before, I won't meet with him."

Barton pinched the bridge of his nose and exhaled. "Abigail, he desperately needs help. You are the only one besides Nat that can actually do it."

Abigail opened her mouth to argue with him, closing it as the waitress arrived with their drinks. Once the two mugs of stiff coffee sat before them, she continued. "I'll meet with him, but on two conditions. One, He better have good reason for going after the Winter Soldier. Two, Don't you tell him who I truely am, Clint Francis Barton. Have him meet me at Warehouse 69 at 8:15 tonight"

Barton smiled, pulling a twenty from his pocket and tossing it on the table as he rose to leave. "I'll tell him for you, Abbs."

A/N: Most of these stories I really don't care about feedback because tey'll probably never get any farther. But this one I would really appreacaite it if you guys will tell me if you actually like this concept or not. I think it's petty good but I think that about most of my stuff. I have a lot more to this story and if gotten enough feedback, I might post it as it's own self, not with these.
