"So... Is there a reason you took us to the middle of nowhere?" Sonic asked sarcastically to Amy as the trio walked across a green meadow. It was peaceful, gentle wind blowing with the warm smell of grass wafting into their noses.

"The portal should be here," Amy said casually, ignoring the confused looks thrown at her. She did roll her eyes. "There's a portal to Earth and ARK, at least, that's what I heard from those agents."

"Well, I'm sure as hell they wouldn't leave it open so we'll have to search for it," Mephiles said, taking control of the situation. He just wanted his annoying, little brother back and away from those bastards. "Search out." He ordered and began walking across the field, blindly looking for a secret entrance. Amy huffed and carefully walked the opposite way of Mephiles. Sonic frowned, he didn't want to alone. Choosing from Mephiles to Amy... Yeah, Amy's the better choice. Besides, it was a good time to start questioning her.

They walked a few yards, searching through every acre of land for a possible sign of a portal opening. Sonic held his hands behind his back looking smug as determination conflicted on Amy's face.

"So...-"

"No, Sonic. I'm actually helping you out because I'm not that big of a bitch you have lowered me to," Amy said, glaring at Sonic from the corner at her eye.

Sonic stutter in denial. "But- You didn't even know what I was going to say!"

"You were going to ask why I was helping you and Mephiles find Shadow. Signs are all over Sonic," Amy replied, rolling her eyes once more. Somic huffed and continued his help in finding the opening. His foot tripped over something hard and he came tumbling down with a small yelp. He groaned into the grass and looked behind him on what had tripped him. A small square stone stared back at him.

"Yo Ames, I think I found something," he called, not realizing he used a nickname he called her when they were dating. Amy walked next to him and bent down, picking up the rock.

"There's an encrypted language on here, I think it's Latin," Amy guessed. She looked back to see Sonic's bewildered face on how she even knew that. Amy gave him a cold and offended look. "I'm not stupid Sonic." Sometimes, she felt people misjudged her because she acted snotty and bitchy. She actually had a smart side, she just hid it well because, who would notice a nerd? It was a life goal to be popular, no matter how bitchy she acted and hid her smarts.

She inspected the stone closely and spoke the Latin words perfectly. Suddenly, a blue glow startled her and the field began to be ingulfed by a large explosion, getting bigger and closer to all of them. Mephiles was running towards them before the explosion swallowed him whole. Amy and Sonic covered their eyes before they were too swallowed.

[BREAK]

Sonic opened his eyes slowly, his back uncomfortably laying on a steel metal surface. What the hell? He lifted himself back up with a groan and stretch off his bones. Where am I? He turned around and was stared at by a beautiful scenary of Earth. He walked forward and put a hand on the glass as he admired the soft blue glow around the planet with lush green and yellow of the land. Holy hell, this is awesome! Am I on ARK? the sound of opening doors caught his attention and he zoomed towards the shadows just in time as two soldiers were walking in. He was careful to hide and tune in on their conversation.

"You didn't have to shock the hedgehog back there," the worried skinny and lean guy said. The buffer guy rolled his eyes.

"Like I told you earlier Henry, it's a thing. And it should've respected me better," he gruffed out, clearly annoyed by his partner and the "thing." The smaller one-Henry- glanced down at the floor almost guiltily, but shrugged it off. Sonic felt sorry for the guy. He probably didn't know he'd be hurting innocents in this job. Probably didn't read the job description. Sonic ignored the two to look closely at what they'd said. Hedgehog? Could it be Shadow? Sonic frowned in disgust at the older guy calling Shadow a thing. Shadow had as many emotions as him, who gave that asshole the right? Sonic shook it off and waited for the two to walk out. When the doors slid close, he stepped around the corner and ran, only to bump into someone.

"Ow!" A feminine voice cried out as she landed on her ass. Sonic shook his head to rid the dizziness of bumping into someone. He looked down at the person he knocked down and noticed it was Amy. She had recovered and was already getting up off the floor.

"Amy!" She wobbled, startled at her name being screamed in her ear so suddenly. "I'm so glad you're here, I think I know where Shadow is!"

"Shh! We don't want them knowing we're here!" Amy hissed at him and Sonic blushed embarrassed.

"Sorry," he said quietly. "Anyway, I think I know where Shadow is. These two guys passed by from the room Shadow could possibly be next door to." Sonic explained, pointing towards the way the two soldiers came from. Sonic began to walk towards the door, but Amy grabbed his arm.

"I don't think we should go without a plan," Amy said, looking worriedly at the door then at Sonic. Sonic frowned.

"There shouldn't be any soldiers there if those two came out, so why do we need a plan? We just need to get Shadow and get the hell out of here," Sonic said, shrugging out of Amy's grip. It only got tighter.

"But, but it can't be just that easy! How are we going to get back? There's no portal in here," Amy remarked back.

"Why are you so against going in there and saving Shadow?" Amy went silent for a moment.

"I don't want you to get hurt okay Sonic? Is all this really worth saving him? Putting your own life in danger?" Amy snarked. Sonic turned angry. Who the hell does she think she is? What was the sudden change in heart?

"You know Amy, I really thought you changed to save Shadow, but of course it's not about him. It's about not looking like the idiot who just stood around? Always got to impress me huh?" Sonic snarled back and Amy visibly flinched. A hurt look crossed over her face. "Look, if you're not going to help, I'm going to find Shadow WITH or WITHOUT you!" He turned away from her with an irritated look. He'll find Shadow, Mephiles would probably help too, but he shouldn't have expected more from Amy. It was a disappoint, he really thought she changed...

"Sonic, wait no," Sonic ignored her and walked towards the door. "Please let me explain!"

"Fuck you Amy." Sonic said, walking through the door and leaving Amy in dreaded guilt, unaware of how horrible plans were going to change.
