The Goddess of Light!
"Ugh." Moaned Red. His eyes slowly beginning to open. He takes a look around, and sees that his fellow Dex Holders are resting in bed. In a nearby basket, all of his friend's weapons are neatly stacked. "Where...am I?" Asked Red.
Red proceeds to get up, and finds a small bottle with wings of an angel to the side, filled with a red liquid.
"What?" Thought Red to himself. "What is this?"
Slowly but surely, he reaches for the bottle and picks it up. He takes a small whiff with his nose, his nostrils being filled with a strange but sweet smell. He then proceeds to drink it, and finds that the strange concoction tastes like some sort of nectar. His eyes widen in shock at how good this drink tastes, and guzzles the whole thing down.
Suddenly, as if magic, all of Red's strength immediately returned to him. He proceeds to jump out of the bed without feeling any sort of soreness or pain.
"What on earth was that? Some sort of potion?" Asked Red.
He takes another look around the room, and finds that near the other Dex Holders are the same type of potions.
"Green, Blue, Crystal, Silver...Gold?" Asked Red inquisatively.
He proceeds to look and finds a stairway. Slowly but surely he finds that there is another room, and the 5th bed is empty. Beside the bed is a half eaten piece of bread, and a bottle containing the same red potion.
"Gold?" Asked Red silently. Suddenly he hears the door open, and two voices coming through, one of them being Gold's, and the other, as far as he knew a complete and total stranger.
"Come on, we're almost there, don't give out on me now." Said Magnus.
"What? Come on, you have enough strength to pretty much carry at least 10 men." Said Gold.
"What gave you that idea?" Asked Magnus.
"Well, given the fact you carry around a giant sword, one can easily assume...where's Red?" Asked Gold.
"Huh?" Asked Magnus. "Well, now that you mention it..."
"Gold?" Asked Red.
"Oh, there he is." Said Gold. "Hey, wait a minute, aren't you in the exact same amount of pain I'm in?"
"That reminds me, stay there." Said Red. He proceeds to go back up and grabs the bottle with the red potion. He walks back down and hands the potion to Gold. "Drink this."
"What is it?" Asked Gold.
"If I had to guess it's some sort of potion. The moment I drank it, I felt all of my energy and strength come back to me." Said Red.
"Really now, let me see that." Said Magnus. He closely examines the bottle, and his eyes widen in surprise. "Well I'll be damned."
"What?" Asked Gold.
"Drink up buddy." Said Magnus. "What we have here is Drink of the Gods."
"Drink of the Gods?" Asked Red.
"Exactly, within that cup is the one beverage the gods themselves drink." Said Magnus. "Drinking that, like your friend said, should alleviate all your pain."
"If you say so." Said Gold. Gold proceeds to take chug the thing down, and almost immediately, all the pain and soreness leaves his body, and he instantly becomes revitalized. "Wow."
"I know right." Said Red. "Where are you two coming from?"
"Oh, I just helped this dude take down a giant flaming hellhound, that's all." Said Gold.
"I have a name you know." Said Magnus.
"Oh right, Red, this is Magnus. Magnus, Red." Said Gold.
"Pleasure is all mine." Said Magnus. "I suppose it's only going to be a matter of time before your friends wake up as well."
"I suppose." Said Red.
"I didn't even see that red bottle when I woke up, where did it come from?" Asked Gold.
"I think I have a hunch." Said Magnus. Magnus then proceeds to approach a nearby hole near the top of the wall, and takes what appears to be a letter. "It's for you."
Sometime later, we see that all of the Dex Holders have regained their strength, and are walking down a pathway in the center of what appears to be a grass field.
"How far down this path do we have to walk?" Asked Crystal.
"It shouldn't be to far now." Said Red. "There it is."
All the Dex Holders look forward, and before them lies what looks to be a Grecian looking temple. On the sides of the entrance are what appear to be the busts of angelic looking beings. The structure is being supported by several columns and pillars.
"So this is the Temple of Palutena?" Asked Blue.
"I hope so, it's the only temple we've came across." Said Green.
"Let's not waste any more time then. Let's move." Said Red.
"Right." The other Dex Holders proceed to say. The Dex Holders proceed to move on, and slowly head towards the temple. The temple turns out to be larger up close, and an atmosphere of peace can be felt encompassing the Dex Holders as they press forward.
"Wow, I don't know why, but all of sudden, everything feels at ease." Said Silver.
"Yeah, no kidding. It almost feels like I'm being protected." Said Crystal.
"Now that they mention it, I can't help but feel a little calm myself here." Said Blue.
"I think we can all agree we feel safe here, obviously the goddess this temple belongs to is extremely benevolent." Said Green.
The Dex Holders proceed to enter into the temple, and standing before them is a statue of the goddess. The goddess looks like what appears to be a 22 year old woman, with long hair reaching down to her lower legs. Her appearance is overall elegant and regal, befitting of that of a goddess.
"So, what do we do now that we're here?" Asked Gold.
Suddenly, the entire temple begins to shine in heavenly light.
"Huh?" Asked Red.
A puddle of light proceeds to start forming in the middle of the temple room. A pillar of light proceeds to form, and shines brightly.
"What? What is this?" Asked Blue.
"If I had to guess...this is a gateway." Said Red. "Come on."
"Wait, Red, how are you so sure?" Asked Crystal. "For all we know, it could lead us right dab in the middle of nowhere."
"It's hard to explain, the best I can describe it is pure instinct." Said Red. "Look, me, Blue and Green have been through something like this before, there is nothing to worry about."
"Hm...OK, we trust you. Let's go." Said Silver.
Red slowly approaches the pillar of light, and proceeds to enter into it. The other Dex Holders slowly follow behind him, and disappear. The pillar of light proceeds to dissolve.
The Dex Holders are seen floating up into the sky, and before them forms a large ball of light. The ball expands, and brightens.
The next thing we see is the Dex Holders slowly floating down on what appears to be a large courtyard.
"Where are we now?" Asked Gold.
They all proceed to look around, the sun is seen shining down upon them, and the sky a beautiful blue. In the distance we see a large fortress shining brightly with a heavenly glow.
"Uh...did we die and go to Heaven?" Asked Gold.
"I don't feel dead." Said Silver.
"Ah, so you arrived." Called a soothing voice. "Don't be alarmed, you aren't dead."
"Who are you?" Asked Red.
"Enter my fortress, and I shall reveal myself there." Said the voice. "Don't be afraid."
The Dex Holders proceed to look at each other.
"What do we have to lose?" Asked Crystal.
The Dex Holders proceed to run towards the fortress. The moment they reach the entrance however, they're stopped by several angelic figures wearing golden armor. Their helmets have wings attached to them, and they are armed with golden bow and arrows.
"Halt!" All of the angelic creatures proceed to say. "What business do you have here?"
"Uh, your goddess told us to come forth." Said Green.
"Lady Palutena called you here?" Asked one of the angelic creatures.
"Somehow I highly doubt that." Said the second one.
"Centurions, stand down, I did call them here." Said the voice, now revealed to be Palutena's.
"Oh, well, they were telling the truth then." Said the first Centurion.
"Sorry about that, you can never be too careful." Said the second one.
The Centurions proceed to fly off.
"Forgive them, they're only trying to do their job." Said Palutena's voice.
"Uh, well, we can understand that." Said Red.
"Keep going straight, you'll reach my throne room in no time at all." Said Palutena's voice.
The Dex Holders continue to run forward, and eventually run into a large blue door.
Red proceeds to knock on the door, and soon it begins to open ever so slowly. On the other side of the door is an extravagant throne room. The pillars are decorated with bright blue drapes, adorned with images of angelic beings. Sitting in the throne is the goddess herself. As it is revealed, her hair and eyes are green. Her main outfit is a simple looking white dress adorned with many golden ornaments to accomodate it. She has a golden laurel crown, a red fibula along her waist, she has vine like patterns on the hems of her dress, a brown footwear. She looks down upon the Dex Holders and gives a warm smile.
"Oh, you made it. That's great." Said Palutena.
"Uh, were we in some sort of danger?" Asked Red.
"Oh no of course not, I'm just being coy." Said Palutena.
"By Arceus, she's gorgeous." Said Gold, his eyes being covered in hearts.
"So, now that you've finally made it, I guess I should accomodate you with something? What do you wish for? Food, drink?" Asked Palutena.
"Oh no, we're fine." Said Red. "What we came here is for information."
"Ah, you want to move straight into business." Said Palutena. "Very well, what is it you wish to know about?"
"Hades. Naryu, the Hylian Goddess of Wisdom said you two were part of the same pantheon." Said Green. "We were hoping you could tell us more about him."
All of a sudden, Palutena's face becomes much more stern and serious. "Oh, I see...I saw this coming a mile away, and yet..."
"Given that reaction, you seem to know your fair share about him." Said Blue.
"Is he really that bad?" Asked Crystal.
"He's pure evil incarnate." Said Palutena.
"We gathered that much." Said Blue.
"Hades is Lord of The Underworld, and a fiend." Said Palutena. "He craves nothing but destruction, all so he can satisfy his appetite for souls."
"Souls?" Asked Gold. "Fantastic, we have ourselves a regular everyday Lucifer on our hands."
"He will stop at nothing to achieve what he wants, which not surprisingly is to bring the natural order into a state of chaos." Said Palutena. "And unfortunately, it seems he's set his sights on you."
"That raises this question, why?" Asked Red. "Why does he all of a sudden see us as a threat?"
"That's simple." Said Palutena. "It's because of the Keyblade."
"The Keyblade? This big bad Hades is afraid of the Keyblade?" Asked Gold.
"Well, not exactly, but he sees it as a threat to his plans nonetheless." Said Palutena. "What exactly his plans are, I'm not entirely sure, but if he sees you as a threat, then obviously it isn't just this world that's in danger, but the entire universe."
"Another universal threat? Are you kidding me?" Asked Blue. "Ganondorf and Tabuu were big enough pains as is, and this Hades guy seems way more powerful than the both of them combined!"
"You're...not exactly far off Blue. It is true, the likes of Ganondorf and Tabuu were indeed threats, but compared to Hades, they are but mere poultry." Said Palutena.
"Wait, how exactly do you know who Ganondorf and Tabuu are?" Asked Red.
"Being a goddess, I'm inclined to know a lot of things." Said Palutena with a smile. Her smile quickly dies down. "Especially when it comes to serious matters such as this."
"So, what exactly can we do against him?" Asked Red. "The way you made him out to be, he seems like some sort of god."
"To be honest, there's not a lot you can do to fight him off." Said Palutena.
"WHAT!?" All the Dex Holders proceed to scream.
"So, what, are we essentially dead? Is that what you're telling us?" Asked Gold.
"Well, no, not exactly." Said Palutena. "If he considers you threats, than obviously there is something you can do to fight him off. What that is, I'm not sure."
"I see. Well, thanks for the vote of confidence." Said Red. "At least we have an idea of who were going up against."
"I'm glad to have been of some service." Said Palutena. "I'm sorry I couldn't relay all the information to you, but I think I know someone who can."
"Who?" Asked Red.
"There is a god who is much older and much wiser than even me, his name is Dytos, The God of the Forge." Said Palutena. "You might need to visit him anyway, seeing as he's the one whose repairing your ship."
"Huh? Oh yeah, I was beginning to wonder about that." Said Blue.
"How do we get to him?" Asked Gold.
"I can transport you to his workshop if you'd like." Said Palutena.
"Yes, please do that. We're not going to get very far without our ship." Said Silver.
Palutena proceeds to snap her finger, and a pillar of light proceeds to form in front of the Dex Holders.
"I believe you know the drill." Said Palutena. "Good luck."
"Thank you, come on guys!" Said Red.
All of the Dex Holders proceed to enter into the pillar of light, which immediately disappears as soon as they enter into it.
"Hm, perhaps I should have mentioned Dyntos' little thing he does before handing over what people want from him. Oh well, I suppose they'll learn quick." Thought Palutena to herself.
Comments: Ah, finally we managed to get a look at our mysterious goddess, of course if any of you have ever played a Kid Icarus game before, Uprising the most recent installment, than you already knew what she looked like. She gave them a fair idea of who Hades is and what exactly he's capable of. Now with this information in tow, the Dex Holders go to retrieve their ship from Dyntos, the God of the Forge. What thing could Palutena be referring to? Nothing to grueling hopefully. Thank you guys so much for reading this chapter, I hope you enjoyed it. Please leave your comments and reviews, as I love to hear feedback from you guys, and as always I will see you next chapter.
