Chapter 11

Arizona dropped everything from her hands and ran to kneel in front of the woman sitting on the couch….She placed her hands on the woman's thighs, and stared into her eyes. Arizona would know those eyes anywhere. Callie was home.

Callie's eyes were filled with tears as she leaned forward and wrapped her hands at the nape of Arizona's neck to the back of her jaw line. Neither one of them spoke a word. They stared into each other's for what felt like an eternity. The tears begin to stream down Arizona's face, Arizona broke the silence.

"Calliope….you're home….you're here, you're alive." Arizona couldn't help but run her hands all over Callie's face just to make sure that it was real. "I….." Arizona tries to clear the lump in her throat. "….I thought I had lost you."

Callie placed her hands gently at the bottom of Arizona's jaw line. Looking deep into her blue eyes. "You did. But I'm here now. I'll always be here. I promise….." Both women stared into each other in silence for a moment. "…..I love you"

Arizona's eyes filled with more tears and they quickly streamed down her face. She couldn't believe that this was real. Her Calliope had somehow made it home. Her wife was sitting in their living room, holding her close.

Arizona spoke up. "I love you too. I love you so much that I went off to Iraq to find you. And when I was told that you just disappeared…..I thought I would never hold you again, or…." Arizona ran her fingers over Callie's lips. "…..kiss you again"

Callie pulled Arizona's hand down and held it tight in hers. "Shh….that doesn't matter anymore. I'm here…..I'm here and I will always be here. You have my word." Callie took the hand that she was holding and placed it on her chest by her heart. "Because you have my heart."

Both Callie and Arizona couldn't hold it in any longer, and their lips crashed into one another's pulling each other into an embrace. Arizona felt like she was floating, for the impossible had occurred. Callie was in her arms once again. They pulled away, and Callie pulled Arizona into a tight embrace. Arizona placed her head on Callie's chest.

"Calliope?...There's no heartbeat. Calliope what's happening? Why don't you have a heartbeat? Arizona rose into a panic as she pulled away from Callie and stared at her in confusion. She just kept repeating herself saying "There's no heartbeat…..there's no heartbeat…." Arizona was in complete panic mode and completely lost her cool and she began to cry profusely and scream. "THERE'S NO HEARTBEAT!"

-"Calliope." Arizona woke up gasping for air. She turned a lamp on to find herself alone in her and Callie's bedroom. Arizona had been home for weeks now, but was hiding out in the apartment as she was shattered from having to realize that Callie was gone, and she wasn't coming back.

She looked at the alarm clock, and saw that it was two in the morning. Then there was a loud knocking at the door. Arizona realized that this was the cause of her being awaken from her sleep. She pulled on Callie's robe, and made her way through the dark apartment to the door. "Who the hell is knocking on my door so ear….." Arizona opened the door to find her wife standing in the hallway. Callie had looked exhausted, and like she had been through hell, which she had. Arizona couldn't believe what she was seeing. She turned away from Callie, leaving her in the doorway she walked to the living room. Her hand covering her mouth, she closed her eyes to try and hold the tears. Arizona was in complete shock. She had been in so much pain the last couple weeks that she tried to convince herself that it was not Callie standing outside the apartment.

Arizona opened her eyes and turned around to face the door. Callie was still standing there. They both just stared at each other from afar for a couple of minutes. Then when it sunk into Arizona that Callie was alive, that she was standing in their apartment, Arizona ran towards her. She jumped and wrapped her arms around Callie's neck and wrapped her legs around Callie's waist as their lips crashed into a kiss so passionate that neither one of them wanted to let go.

Callie held onto Arizona tight as she walked into the apartment, with their lips still tasting each other. Callie walked to the space between the living room and the island in the kitchen. She gently let Arizona put her feet down onto the floor. They finally pulled away from the kiss slowly as Arizona opened her eyes with the biggest dimpled smile she had in her to give. She looked into Callie's eyes.

"Is this real?" Arizona asked.

"Yeah…." Callie smiled back. "This is real."

Arizona ran her hands on Callie's face to feel Callie's soft skin. As her fingers felt down the back of Callie's neck, Arizona could feel a scar that started in Callie's hairline and ran down her neck behind her ear.

Callie could see the expression on Arizona's face change. "I know…" Callie put her head down and stared at the floor. Arizona lifted her chin up and stared into Callie's dark, entrancing eyes.

"You're beautiful." Arizona said. Callie smiled at this, and placed a soft kiss upon Arizona's lips. Arizona not thinking, asked the million dollar question. 'What happened?...oh…..I'm sorry…you don't have to answer that."

"It's okay Arizona. I don't mind telling you. I want you to know." Callie took in a breath, looked Arizona in the eyes while still holding her tight. " I was being held captive by these heavily armed men. Some of them were trained to be suicide bombers. But that's not important….." Arizona giggled a little at the sight of her wife's rambling. "…these men they forced me to treat their injured guys and…."

"I know Calliope….I know."

"How do you..."

"It's a long story…which I will tell you later. But please finish your story." Arizona gave Callie a peck on the lips.

"Well one day, I tried to fight them off to get free and one of them attacked me with my own scalpel before I managed to run off."

Arizona gave Callie an apologetic look, before bringing their lips together in a soft but passionate kiss. The kiss deepened as Callie slowly and carefully guided Arizona to the bedroom. Callie shut the door with her foot behind them. She kicked off her boots and started to untie the belt to her robe that Arizona was wearing, while Arizona was unbuttoning Callie's camouflage uniform top. Each of them took turns removing articles of clothing from each other's body's kissing passionately while doing it. Arizona removed Callie's t-shirt to reveal a stomach completely bandaged all the way around. She pulled away from Callie's lips to take a look. She then glanced up at Callie with a pained look. Callie cupped Arizona's cheek.

"I'm okay. It's just bruised…..just stay with me….stay here…" Callie brought Arizona back to her lips. Arizona melted into the deepening kiss and found herself pulling Callie towards the bed. She pulled her right on top and draped the blankets on top of them.

Arizona gently wrapped her legs around Callie's hips as Callie began to thrust towards her wife. Creating a steady motion, Callie held herself up with one arm while using the other to caress Arizona's body. Callie moved her head down to place kisses on Arizona's neck. The soft moans escaping Arizona's mouth only encouraged Callie to keep going. Callie's pelvis moving faster, both Callie and Arizona slid their hands to each other's cores. Callie's knees began to buckle as they both surrendered to the feeling that was overcoming them; a feeling that they had waited forever to feel again. They moaned into each other's mouths before Callie fell to the side of Arizona.

"Ahhh….." Callie's eyes squinted as she felt a pain coming from her abdomen.

Arizona turned to her huffing, trying to get her breathing back to normal. " You alright?"

"Yeah….it's just my stomach…don't worry." With that, Callie put her hand on Arizona's cheek as they lay in their bed facing each other. She pulled her in for a soft and tender kiss.

"Happy Anniversary." Callie said with a smile.

One month later…..

It was past their actual anniversary, but neither Callie nor Arizona cared. This was their day to celebrate with friends and with their family. This was the day they would celebrate to their lives; to their future.

It was a sunny day in Seattle. The perfect weather that they were hoping for. The venue was set and ready to go. People started to arrive and were mingling and talking amongst themselves. Teddy and Arianna walked into a tent, where Arizona was getting dressed.

"How do you feel?" Teddy said.

"I feel wonderful." Arizona turned around to face her friend. She had tears in her eyes; tears of joy.

"Well you look beautiful. I'll see you in a bit." Teddy gave her friend a hug and stepped out. Arianna stepped forward and Arizona stepped closer to her.

"Thank you Ari. For everything." Arizona said with a dimpled smile.

"Well thank you, but it was your love for her that got you here." Arianna said as she placed her hands on Arizona's shoulders.

"But about that moment when I….." Arizona turned her eyes to the side with embarrassment."

"Don't worry about it. Nothing happened. Besides…you're not my type." Arianna gave Arizona a wink, smiled and stepped out. Arizona couldn't help but laugh.

This was exactly like déjà vu for everyone that was sitting outside in the park. The décor was similar, they were in the same location, and they were there to celebrate the same people. This time, Callie was wearing a flowing white dress. She stood at the altar waiting for her wife.

Then, everyone rose to their feet as Arizona came out and started to make her way down the aisle.

For all those times you stood by me

For all the truth that you made me see

For all the joy you brought to my life

For all the wrong that you made right

For every dream you made come true

For all the love I found in you

I'll be forever thankful baby

You're the one who held me up, never let me fall

You're the one who saw me through…through it all.

Arizona looked like the most beautiful woman in Callie's eyes. She couldn't keep the tears in. Both of them smiled at each other. Flashbacks playing in their minds.

You were my strength when I was weak

You were my voice when I couldn't speak

You were my eyes when I couldn't see

You saw the best there was in me

Lifted me up when I couldn't reach

You gave me faith cuz you believed

I'm everything I am, because you loved me

Arizona met up with Callie at the altar. Both of them still smiling at each other, they turned to face the man standing before them as he spoke those all too familiar words that they heard a year ago.

"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to witness the union between Lieutenant Calliope Torres and Doctor Arizona Robbins."

Everyone in the crowd was smiling as they looked on to their friends who were renewing their vows they made to each other a year ago when they got married.

"Both ladies have prepared their own vows." The man said giving a nod to Arizona to begin her vows.

"Calliope, my love; my only love. Everything that we've gone through in the past year to get here, makes me realize just how lucky I am to be your wife. I had found you. We made a commitment, and we professed our love in front of our friends and family. Then you went away, and I thought I had lost you forever. But you came back to me. It just shows how strong our love is. We can conquer anything. Love you, and I will love you till the day I die."

Tears were building up again in Callie's eyes as she began to read off her vows.

" We've been through so much. And it killed me inside when I had to leave you. When I was captured and being held as a P.O.W, I thought that I would never get to see your face again. But I wouldn't give up. I couldn't because I knew that I had to make it back to you or die trying. I made it back Arizona. I made it back because my love for you…our love for each other is so incredibly strong that I know we can fight the world, as long as we are together. I love you Arizona, I loved you the day I met you. And I will continue to love you till death do us part."

Arizona had tears streaming down her face as she smiled her beautiful dimpled smile and said "Till death do us part."

Callie and Arizona embraced each other and kissed a kiss so filled with love, that everyone could feel it. Totally ignoring everyone, they continued to feel each other's lips as all their friends and family rose from their seats and clapped and yelled in hysterics of joy.
