Sitting in his old spot, Jace couldn't shake the feeling something was wrong with Clary. She looked happy, almost to the point of drooling really, but she had been throwing up a lot. The motion sickness from his driving, though a little offensive, made sense. He knew he wasn't the best driver on curvy roads. But for it to happen twice in one day was really suspicious.
He watched Clary carry the tray of food to the table, her order considerably larger than his.
"She added some extra food for me, or at least I think that's what she said. But this looks delicious." Clary laughed, placing the tray between them.
Jace nodded, taking his chicken sandwich from the tray. "It means she likes you. Mama has a history of not approving of my choices in women."
Was she pregnant? Oh lord… if she was, he was screwed. Jace had been extremely careful every time they had sex, even when it was spontaneous. Could the condom have broken? Jon was going to kill him…
"Oh, really? I could not imagine that, especially when you were a teenager." Clary rolled her eyes, looking more at the table than him.
Jace raised an eyebrow, hiding his thoughts with a chuckle. "Have a little faith in me, geez. I wasn't that bad at picking girls." When she wasn't looking, he was trying to peek at her stomach. At a glance, it looked normal. She had been on the thinner side since he knew she existed. But he wouldn't really know, would he? Jace accidently let out a sigh and tried to cover it up with a cough. But Clary had already noticed.
"You okay? Tired?" Setting her fork down, Clary reached over to take his hand. The look in her eyes made him almost lay his head on the table.
"A little. I need a nap." Not that it wasn't true, but his thoughts were on everything else except what he needed.
She shook her head, biting into her own sandwich, the sauce running down the side of her mouth. He eyed her warily, picking at the shared plate of homemade fries between them. If she was, and he hoped his memory was correct, then they would know in two weeks. But for now he was going to keep his mouth shut…
Clary ate her order, satisfied with the taste, but not quite okay with the expression on Jace's face. When he thought she wasn't paying attention he would check her out, like something was wrong. His eyebrows would twitch as he fiddled with every other fry he picked up, waiting a second to pop it in his mouth. This, she thought, was not like him at all. Usually he'd be trying to pick on her, annoying her before she actually laughed at his little act. Maybe he was worried about going back after their vacation was over. He had pissed Izzy off.
"So, what else do you have under your sleeve for today?" Clary popped a fry into her mouth, trying to cheer him up.
It took a second for him to grin like an idiot, but she was happy to see it. If she could indulge his pride some then maybe she would find out what was wrong. Or maybe the silence was getting to her.
"It wouldn't be a surprise if I told you, would it?" And, for as long as she could manage it, Clary decided the rest of the day would be about making him smile like he was in that moment. "Or are you that curious?"
"I just want to know the next thing, so I can mentally prepare myself for whatever comes." Clary whispered, leaning on her elbows. Jace leaned in too, wiggling his eyebrows at her.
"PDA, you two! This is a wholesome place." Mama laughed, interrupting their conversation.
Jace chuckled, intertwining Clary's fingers with his. "She really likes you, just saying." He turned his head away from her, eyes darting over her head. "Sorry, Mama."
Clary turned her head in time to see Mama wink, turning back to the stove so she could put food in a paper bag.
"I like it here. It's quiet." She said, chuckling at the situation. Jace, even being a CEO, tended to like out of the way places. It was a part of his charm really. "and I didn't know food could be this good." Jace's smile seemed to be fading, his mind going back to whatever was bothering him. "And, guess what: I love you."
The grin came back instantly, the crumbs of his sandwich making a home on the tray. Jace locked eyes with her, nodding towards the door. "Want to go? I already paid earlier and I'm sure Mama would love to see the extra sandwich go out in a box with us."
"Okay."
She chewed on her last bite as he got a to-go box, hoping that whatever mood she had put him in would last.
Jace could barley keep his eyes on the lake, happy at Clary was with him. He may have been a prideful man, but hearing those three little words made him feel on top of the world. He would never admit it though.
"Are you okay to swim a little bit?" He said louder than he meant to, catching her off guard.
Clary grinned, taking her eyes off of the scenery for second. "I have a feeling I have no choice in this matter."
The little possibility from before still lurked in his mind, but he didn't want to worry her until they both knew it was actually happening. "Well, you do. But I would suggest you join me, mainly because I have only shown one person this spot: you."
"Me? Only me? Well, I guess I can't pass this up."
Clary got up, stretching her arms above her head. But when Jace checked her out just because, he saw that she had actually gotten more muscular. In fact, she was gaining on him in the ab department. Why hadn't he noticed earlier?
"Jace? What is it babe?" Babe? That was new, but he liked it.
"Have you been using the gym at the house when we aren't having sex?" He didn't have to turn around to know she would hesitate to answer.
"What is that supposed to mean?" He turned his head to eye her, directing his gaze to her stomach. "That? Seriously…"
When he turned around, he sighed. "I'm not mad, Clary. I'm just curious. Taking care of yourself is a good thing."
Out of nowhere, Clary's head landed on the back of his shoulder, her nose touching the top. "But you already do." He almost started laughing when she had to get on her tiptoes to kiss his cheek. "And, considering I know you want an answer…Yes, I have been using the gym on weekends. While you were at meetings I got bored."
Okay…. "So, you worked out instead of sleeping, or doing something you liked? I know running isn't your favorite thing."
"And being out of the house isn't your favorite thing either. I've heard you talk in your sleep."
As right as she was, and as much as he wanted to continue talking about their favorite things, Jace knew they were getting close to the cave. Waving his hand, he gestured to her seat, hoping she would get the message.
She sat with a huff, staring ahead of the boat. "This better be good. I was getting in the mood."
"Oh, it will. Besides, have you never had cave sex?"
Clary rolled her eyes, focusing on the decrepit looking dock Jace was about to park at.
"We are not parking here, are we? The boat will get stolen."
If only she knew… "Actually, no, it won't. I pay someone to make it look like that so no one discovers the cave. And there are security cameras everywhere. You coming or not?" Jace started towards the steps, pulling camo curtains down all around the top so he could disguise the cockpit.
Clary followed behind him, gasping at how blended the boat was with their surroundings when they got off. Jace laughed, pulling her up a path as they laced hands. And, sure enough, the cave was just as beautiful as last time. Considering last time had been ten years ago, he was happy. But, this time, his boat would not be stolen.
She couldn't believe her eyes. It was another world inside the cave Jace had taken her to. She itched to paint it, preserve its beauty on a canvas.
"Clary?"
She turned around to see Jace putting his shirt on a rock shelf, along with their towels. And right beside it all was what she expected: a condom. He always carried one.
"Sorry. It's just really pretty in here. How's the water?" Her question prompted him to jump in right when she was passing him, splashing her side.
"It's perfect, just like you. Now hurry up and get in. I need some Clary time."
Clary sighed, laying her dress by his clothes. "Did you just say that what I think you said?" Purposely, Clary put her hand on her hip, trying not to laugh.
"Would you prefer if I said that you are going to get in or I will carry you in?" Jace started towards the edge, water dripping from the ends of his hair. "Do yourself a favor and make sure the condom in near the edge, because you aren't getting out of here until you call uncle."
She didn't flinch when he was leaning against the edge, but once he had lifted himself out she started to edge back. The look on his face said it wouldn't be wise and she knew it. Yet, the smile on his face said he knew she would run anyway. And she did for all of ten seconds.
"Why are you so fast?" Clary groaned, sinking into the strong arms holding her.
"Because." Jace answered her, jumping in a second after he said. The water coated her entire body, it's warmth making her wish she had jumped in first. "Whoa there, don't get too relaxed just yet. I can't hold you like this forever."
Clary flayed an arm when he dropped her a few inches, landing back in his arms after a few seconds. "Hey!"
He just laughed, dropping one arm so she could stand in the water. Clary, though still shaken, was grateful he did.
"What happened to making me say uncle, Mr. nice guy?"
Jace didn't say a word, but grabbed her by the hips and squished her back into his chest. "You thought I'd forget what I said? Hmm?" She could feel his lips graze her neck, making their way down her upper shoulder.
Her heart raced as his hands went opposite of each other, one on her thigh and the other up her stomach. He wouldn't give up, she knew that, and it would be too damn hard to not give in, but she was going to try.
But after ten minutes Clary could tell she was weakening, her limbs almost trembling. "Jace…" Her body could surrender at any moment and she knew it.
Using his wandering hands, Jace turned her around and they locked eyes, a bolt of electricity running through both of them.
"You've never held out this long," He said between kisses, holding her against his groin. It was obvious he was barely hanging on himself. "Give in and you'll be surprised how much better it feels. Please." He was begging, well then.
Clary gave in, her body thanking her as he pulled off her bikini bottoms. In a rush, Jace grabbed the condom package and tore it open, barley moving her as he lifted them onto the edge. From her point of view, it was hard enough to get the it on all things considering. When he finally did, she felt the sweet relief of being one with him. It was overwhelming, the act wrapping her arms around his neck being a struggle.
"Jace!" She called out, her eyes widening from shock.
"I know," he panted out, "I'm… oh shit."
They came together, at the exact moment that Alec and Izzy entered the cave, both parties horrified.
Clary slid into the water, reaching for her bottoms as she submerged. Alec had just seen her having sex. What. The. Fuck! Jace turned his back as she did, reaching for his trunks.
"So, I'm not going to ask. Just get dressed and meet us by the boat." Alec said, walking out as soon as he did.
Izzy sighed, turning her back on them. "Okay. I get it. You like each other, obviously. Just know both of you will be explaining this to us. And I will try to forget the horrifying images in my head." Clary knew she was angry at them, and Izzy probably was not in the mood to be as silent as she was.
But today was going be a long day, they both knew that much.
Long Time... I know. It's called college for a reason. But here you guys go! I spent my break moving and writing just for you guys!
Questions:
1. Who will die first? (Hypothetically)
2. Thoughts?
Info:
I will be taking a break most likely to finish a psychology research paper and won't post for a while. Just a heads up.
