It's been forever, I know. It's so short, I know. But don't worry - ive got some things planned. The new vampires are going to start making their moves, and I plan on things to change rather dangerously for Max. Let's just say: her thirst... MWAHAHAHAHAA okay, please forgive the suck-itude. I just really wanted to post for you guys! But be on the lookout for "Too Far to Turn Back" future parts because basically in this section of the chapters ish is going to start getting real; hence the title. It will literally be too far for some of our characters to turn back to the previous life/lives that they once lived. :D Anywho, I think the chapter sucks, but hopefully you guys will just be happy I've finally posted. Excuse any typos or jumping around. I will get better!
For Blood:
Too Far to Turn Back part I
Max gasped as the cup dropped and spilled some feet from her. She cringed in pain of the smell and Kavin entered into the room again, rushing to her aid and noting the spilled blood dishearteningly. "Maxine you must feed," he whispered.
"I wont…"the pink haired young vamp argued in a weak and barely human tone. Her eyes glowed vibrantly, and though the female spoke her decision to not contract herself to his world, the maddened look of thirst – the look of a starved and raging beast emanated from Max's presence as she panted in struggle; hands shaking and resisting the call to rip the bonds from the wall.
Kavin could see her agony and sighed. "You can't change what you are, my love," the elder vampire answers back wearily, wiping up the mess and cleaning it as best as possible so the scent doesn't cause her any further pain. Her refusal to feed was annoying and dislikable but the elder knew that she was afraid; and aware that once human blood touched her lips then her fate would be forever sealed. Her stubbornness would be the death of her. The male vamp approaches his ebony queen with a serious gaze, hazel eyes staring deep into her golden irises as a finger reached up and sliced his opposite wrist – blood trickling down in a sensual line from the ridges of his wrist and down the forearm. Max growled hungrily but pulled back.
"No…"
"You must eat Max, besides: I'm not human, remember?" Kavin raised a brow mockingly yet sweetly as she stared at his wrist for a while. He held his wrist closer to her face in encouragement, grinning with satisfaction once the beloved captive finally parted her lips willingly. "That's it," he urged when Gibson's fangs flared forward slightly and wrapped about his wrist. He winced a little at the sensation of punctured flesh but only smiled. She drank greedily, blood spilling from the side of her lips as the sound of the feed seemed to echo louder than it should have. The more she drank, the more she wanted and Kavin took this as a sign of her growing health. And yet…The look of guilt on her face was unexplainable. Did she hate him for tempting her with his vitality? Or did she hate herself for being subject to the desire? Kavin had never seen nor heard of a human resisting the change as strongly as Gibson was. But in the end she had admit one thing: the taste was so delicious; wrong, but delicious nonetheless. Max flickered her lids as she fed – it was so potent that the Gotham born femme squeezed her thighs together in embarrassment at the sudden wet sensation milking between her legs. How in the hell could this feel this right?
And surely Kavin agreed – for he moaned quietly but loud enough for her keen ears to notice as he bit his lip and stared at her with lust now. But there was more than just his blood pouring in to feed her belly – it was…feelings, emotions, thoughts. With each swallow Max could somehow understand him a little more. She could taste the butterflies he felt whenever her scent traveled into his nostrils; could savor the unconditional attraction he had for Gibson. She was…flattered; disturbed but still flattered. Kavin murmured her name, allowing her to feed more and touching her waist softly.
But Maxine flinched against the brush and Kavin, regaining control of his desires, pulled away: his hazel eyes looking off to the side nervously. Was he blushing? Was it possible for a vampire to blush? Maxine felt her heart flutter. There were pockets of thoughts racing through her mind. "Kavin-," she started, but he grabbed the bonds keeping her to the wall and ripped them down, freeing her from her imprisonment. The look on her face said it all: The FUCK?!
"I—I'm sorry…" Kavin walked away, avoiding eye contact with her and stood in front of the fireplace as Max rubbed her hands together in relief. "It was wrong for me to bring you here…i…just wanted to keep you safe…"
"So what? Are you letting me go?" When Kavin didn't answer Max walked to the door and placed a hand on the knob. "So I can leave right now?" Still no answer. Gibson's eyes shifted back and forth in thought and confusion. WHY waste so much energy in capturing her only to let her go? What was he afraid of all of a sudden? And…why did it hurt her to walk away? "You said…that I'm a danger to the ones closest to me now," Max stated, pausing in thought.
"Yes…"
"I could hurt them?"
"Or worse…." He balled his fists together – somehow not being able to breathe in the slightest. He'd forgotten that by allowing her to feed off of him then his thoughts, his fears, his feelings, could be transferred over to her. His past…his struggles…his darkest terrors…The possibility of someone knowing them after all of this time of secrecy and loneliness…
Max watched him struggle with something and she couldn't help but pity him. Yes he almost killed her and wound up turning her into a vampire and then kidnapped her against her will and beat up her friends and kept her chained to a wall but…she felt bad for him; and felt that maybe he wasn't quite the monster she thought he was. It was funny how a simple drink of blood could shift everything the girl once thought she understood about good and evil and right and wrong. With a sigh her fingers dropped from the knob and she held herself protectively, avoiding eye contact when he wheeled to her in disbelief and shock. "You…uhhh…can teach me to control it? My thirst? So that I don't hurt anyone?"
Kavin could hardly believe his ears, walking towards her with widened eyes full of hope and love. "If that is what you want, then yes! I will. If it will make you stay."
The passion in his voice, the longing in his eyes caused her heart to flair in an emotion of fear and…what was this? "Then I guess I will…just for a little while. Until the danger from the bad vampires passes."
"Yes, I will keep you safe. Everything will be fine." He reached for her but paused and coughed into his hand.
Max nodded and looked around the room. "So," she asked with a nervous smile. "Where do I sleep?" Kavin smiled.
Barbara Gordon pinches the bridge of her nose together in mounting frustration as an officer drops off a stack of paperwork at her desk. "There's been another incident Commissioner. Closer this time."
Gordon, her head still down and squeezing her nose, asks with a sigh, "How close?"
The officer narrows his brows. "It's officially entered into Gotham borders." Barbara gives him a strange look, a look of disappointment…a look of concern. "About two miles in from the Welcome sign. Five victims: all just laying on top of each other…drained dry. Dispatch just called in and said they found ten more on the western docks."
Barbara stands to her feet and rubs the back of her neck, a habit her father once had. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree after all. She wondered if Dad ever used to dress up in skin tight suits and go flying from rooftop to rooftop committing vigilante justice. "We're heading out to the crime scene. I want CSI out there NOW. I don't want a pebble overlooked, you hear me? This shit is hitting the fan and sending crap all around the room. If a dog pisses within fifty feet of a body I want to know what breed it is."
"Yes sir!"
She heads out the door as her team scrambles, looking back over her shoulder briefly at her empty office. "Sorry kid."
The door closes and Batman turns off his camouflage with narrowed brows as Robin hangs outside the window with arms folded across his developed chest. "I've already told you what we need to do," Robin sneers. They had come here in hopes of getting some information from Barbara about Max. A missing person's report had been filed for her and Gordon had been usurping as many resources as she could in assistance to finding the girl – especially when she learned some of the less than satisfying details.
"Zip it bro. Gordon was our best chance of finding Max."
"Yeah, if Max were still HUMAN," Robin sasses, pushing himself off the wall with a frown. "Gordon is too busy dealing with the massive homicides that's been heading into Gotham. We should be looking into these murders. They sound vampire oriented."
"Our goal is to find Max," Batman snapped back loudly with a fierce look over his shoulder. Ever since she'd been snatched away his temperament was far from pleasant. Even the old man was getting the brunt of the anger.
"And just what do you think these other vampires might be trying to do?" A tense silence passes between them as Robin turns from his crime fighting partner and spreads his wings for flight. "Use your head…" and he jumps off the ledge, flying into the darkness leaving behind his annoyed elder brother.
"Mmmmm…the air here is so…so full of youth and power and calamity…and fear. It makes the blood sweeter," says a dark voiced shadow within a ragged worn down room, the bodies of various T's members sprawled about the floor, lines of red dripping from their white painted bodies. The shadow was large and bulky, red eyes burning in the darkness.
"And just think how much sweeter it will be once we dethrone Chezarey and take this place for our own…" cooed another, feminine this time. She adds with a wink, "The women here are beautiful…"
"Hahaha, thinking of enslaving more human females to feed your desires?"
"Or to drink their blood to preserve my youth…both are pretty good options."
The male chuckles, shaking his head as a T member, groaning and whimpering in pain, starts to crawl towards the door. "I thought you'd be mine someday."
"I will be. Once you can commit. After two hundred years of waiting a girl gets tired…"
"And moves on to other girls…" He hears her giggle before nodding to the crawling away victim. "He's almost at the door."
"I knooooow…"
The T member grabs the handle, yanking it open as the female switches her hips towards him and opens his lips to scream for help when she suddenly appears at this side and swings her claws down upon him. What had started as a scream quickly cut short and left nothing but the sound of his head rolling back inside. The female turns, resting her foot on the head and licking the blood from her fingertips with a devious smirk. "Dinner time…"
A chorus of eyes glow from behind the male.
To be continued…
