"Excuse me my lords." Elizabeth entered the dining room, while the lords, Katerina and Caroline ate breakfast. "But Caroline has a visitor today-"
"Another one!?" Katerina exclaimed as she dropped her fork on the table. "Who's the gentleman that you are strolling along Caroline?" She asked her while glaring. Caroline looked confused, she wasn't strolling along no one.
"Ms. Petrova-" Elizabeth cut in. "It is no gentleman—it's actually a young women."
"Bonnie!" Caroline squealed as she hopped out of her chair with a huge grin on her face. She was just about to move towards the door, leading to the sitting room, but Katerina stood up.
"No!" She sternly said. "Caroline will not be receiving anymore visitors! She is a maid for heaven's sake! She does not have the privilege to have visitors, it is only I the one that is allowed!" She exclaimed.
"She is allowed!" Kol growled, stepping in.
"Kol, its fine—those are her orders." Caroline simply said, as tears began to weld up in her eyes. She was hoping to cry from happiness, not from sadness. Klaus' jaw clenched as he shook his head. Just when he was about to speak Elijah spoke.
"Katerina, where are your manners?!" He scolded. "That is no way to treat a lady, even if she is a maid. You are the one that should not be allowed to have a maid if you treat her as so."
"But my lord—she is just-"
"-a maid." Klaus finished as he stood up. "We have been over this Katerina. She was not meant to be your maid only, she is human just like you, just like me and just like everyone in this bloody village!" His voice began to rise. "Kol has told you as well as Elijah that as long as you are living under our roof, Caroline is our staff and you have no say in what she does. We do, now she is your personal maid but she is ours!"
Katerina had her eyes wide open at how everyone defended Caroline so well. She was in total shock, that she was at loss for words. She only shook her head as she stormed out of the room, in what everyone could see, that was in tears. Klaus sighed as he closed his eyes.
"Caroline, go ahead and attend your visitor." Klaus said. "I'll go apologize to Katerina." He added before walking off. Caroline's heart clenched a bit at his statement of going to apologize Katerina. Once again, she had to remind herself that he was the one who wanted Katerina first. She's the one he wants not her.
"Excuse me." She stated as she walked towards the door leading to the sitting room. Kol and Elijah shared a knowing look.
"That was quite impressive." Kol commented, sitting down once again.
"I agree brother." Elijah nodded. "I would have never thought of Niklaus the one defending the maid. But as we can see our assumptions were correct after all." He added, taking a sip of his wine.
"Carebear!" Bonnie gasped, feeling almost out of breath once Caroline attacked her with a tight hug.
"Bon!" She exclaimed in tears. "I have missed you so much!"
"As well as have I." She replied pulling away. "You look so big, and beautiful."
"You are not the one to judge." Caroline said with a grin. "You are stunning." Bonnie giggled.
"How are you Care?" She then asked with a bit of concern. "I read your letter and you told me that you were fine but not great and that you have had a difficult life?"
Caroline's sight dropped as they walked towards the sitting room. "I'd much prefer to talk about this in a more private area." She replied instead. "Let's head towards the garden, it is quite beautiful!"
"Alright." She responded with a smile. They began to walk outside as Caroline began to talk.
"I'm fine Bon." She sighed as she looked straight out into the garden. "I have had a quite different life than what you imagine."
"Tell me." Bonnie said without asking more. Caroline smiled.
"I needed this." Caroline commented. "The only person that I can trust somehow is Kol, one of the lords, and a guy named Stefan." She decided to skip saying Klaus since she was bound to tell her that he is in fact the guy that has gotten her affections. "Other than that, you are the one that I know I can count on now. There are something that a man should not know from the secrets of a women." She added with a slight grin.
"Well first tell me your story and how you have gone in life—then you can tell me about that secret man that has captured the affections of this wonderful young lady!" Bonnie expressed. "I do remember how you described that man of your dreams and the man you would soon marry when the time was correct—tall, muscular, caring, trustworthy, makes you laugh, is gentle with you, kind, compassionate-"
"Ok Bon, I remember too." Caroline interrupted with a giggle. The girls shared a short laugh before Caroline began to explain her life with Katerina. How she treated her like if she were a dog and nothing more. She told her about Nina and Daniel, and how nice they were with her.
"Nina-" Bonnie interrupted. "-if she was nice and kind towards you, wasn't she a good candidate to win your trusts? She seems quite lovely from what you have told me about her." Bonnie pointed out. Caroline opened her mouth to respond but nothing came out. She thought for a while until her answer came to her mind.
"Yes—she would have been a great friend, like she is now, but every time I wanted to speak with her Ms Petrova would just call for me to do some unnecessary work for her. I could never get through a good conversation with Nina when Katerina is already beckoning for my help." Caroline answered while they took a seat on one of the garden's benches.
"Well, I'm glad I'm here now." Bonnie said while grabbing Caroline's hand in an affectionate way.
"Me too." She responded with a soft smile. She took a breath as she continued. "Anyways, I have been miserable since I left my family's home." She lets out a small chuckle. "I would have never admitted that to Matty—he would of felt even worse than now. It's actually pretty demented of him to think that he is the cause of my suffering."
"You have no idea Carebear." Bonnie said. "Ever since we began to talk and got close—he has never once stopped putting the fault on himself of your separation. He did live with it but I know that it consumed his every thought once night struck. You know that is when we all began to think of what has happened."
"I just don't like that he is putting the fault on himself when he is not even close to the source." She expressed. "It was my mother, she decided to sell me, and she was the one that decided to separate me from Matty and Nicholas." Bonnie wrapped her arms around Caroline bringing her in for a comforting hug. Caroline slightly cried at the memory of leaving her family. She began to tell Bonnie of how she felt that day, on how she felt since that day. Just like her explanation to Klaus, she gave the same to Bonnie.
After sometime Caroline finally calmed down from her depressing moment as she pulled away from Bonnie. She wiped the tears away from her cheeks as she gave her best friend a slight grin. "I can't believe that after so long, you still see me as your best friend."
"You will always be my best friend Carebear, or don't you remember our pact from when we were young." She replied. "Nothing will break us apart-"
"-even if we have a fight we know that we love each other." Caroline finished while smiling.
"Now-" Bonnie expressed clasping her hands together, laying them on her lap. "-why don't you enlighten me with that mysterious guy that you talked about in your letter?" Caroline tensed at the subject as she cleared her throat.
"Um—well, it is a bit complicated." She warned, not turning to look at her.
"Carebear, you can tell me anything, I won't judge." Bonnie replied, easing her nerves. "Besides, haven't you kissed him already? It might be serious."
"No, it is not." She whispered as she closed her eyes. "He is a forbidden man, and I can not believe that I fell for him." She scolded herself. Bonnie touched her arm as she gasped—she knew she was shocked.
"He's a married man Caroline?!" She exclaimed. "How—how did you meet with him?"
"No Bon, he is not a married man." She cleared out. Bonnie let out a relief sigh letting go of her arm.
"Alright, then why is he forbidden. The only forbidden men I know are married ones." Bonnie stated.
"He's—he's-" Her hands began to tremble as she was realizing that she was finally admitting her feelings to the Lord—out loud where he could listen. She took one big breath. "-he's the Lord." She finally replied.
"Lord Kol? The new one—the one that has some trust of yours?" Bonnie asked. Caroline slowly shook her head as some tears began to fill her eyes. If only she would have fallen for Kol, everything would have been that more easy. "Lord Elijah?" Caroline shook her head once more. That is when Bonnie gasped again, covering her mouth when she let out the last name fall from her lips. "Lord Niklaus?!"
Caroline slowly turned to look at her best friend. She had her hand over her mouth and her eyes were wide open in surprise. "I'm afraid so." She responded. "I know it is wrong but-" She trailed off.
"But you said you had kissed him, right?" Bonnie asked once she had regained from her total shock stage.
"It wasn't exactly me the one that kissed him Bon, which has me quite confused." She replied.
"He was the one that kissed you?!" Bonnie asked as surprise struck her again. Caroline nodded.
"Twice."
"Twice?!" Bonnie was now almost in hyperventilation.
"Yes, and I know I shouldn't have fallen for him but I did. I have fallen for him and his charms, his dimples, his complicated side." Caroline huffed as she covered her eyes with her hands. "I'm an idiot aren't I?"
"No Carebear." Bonnie replied all too quickly. "He is the one to fault if something happens. He is making all the moves and you just happened to fall for him in the process." She cleared out. Caroline smiled taking her hands away from her eyes to pull Bonnie in for another hug.
"Thank you."
"Whenever." Bonnie said with a smile. "-but don't you have more men following you like wolfs?"
"Now that you ask, I think I do?" She answered pulling away from the hug with a confused look. "The town's doctor has been quite on my tail for my health than what I think a normal doctor should be concerned of."
"Oh really?" Bonnie made a suggestive look. "What is the name?"
"Tyler Lockwood." She responded. Bonnie's smile only grew at the response.
"Just as I suspected." She commented making Caroline get confused.
"What?"
"Well, I know that you never noticed it—well actually him—but Tyler Lockwood has been in love with you since we were kids." She revealed. "He's Matty's best friend, I don't know if you ever noticed him."
"Seriously?!" She expressed, turning to shake her head looking at the bushes. "I can not believe my luck." She said more to herself.
"What's wrong?" Bonnie questioned. "It's not like it really matters now. You are quite certain of your feelings for the Lord." She added. "But if I can suggest something—I believe Tyler would be better for you. He is not a Lord but he makes a quite decent amount of money to keep up a family. Besides, he doesn't have anyone in his life like the Lord Niklaus does. I am fairly certain that he won't hurt you like I sense the Lord will."
"You think?" She inquired like if she was really considering it. "I mean I never told you, but I did have a slight crush on him when we were kids. I never thought it would be the doctor, I just saw him as my brother's friend only. That is why I never even considered a possibility with him because I knew he wouldn't even think of me in such way. If I only knew what I know know, I think everything would have been different."
"Are you kidding?!" Bonnie exclaimed as she stood up. "You had a slight crush on Lockwood and until now I know!"
"I'm sorry Bon, but I was just 8, I didn't even know much about love and boys. I wasn't even sure if it was a crush, so it wasn't that much of importance to me, to tell you. I just put it off of my mind." She brushed off. Bonnie placed her hands on her hips as she shook her head.
"Skipping that—you see that Tyler would be better." Bonnie urged without noticing a certain Lord coming towards them.
"What is that bloke better for?" Kol asked, startling the two girls.
"Nothing." Caroline quickly answered. "We were just talking of—um—which doctor of the two would be better in this village." She was quite impressed how good she came up with that lie. Unfortunately for her, Kol didn't buy it.
"Really, what is that doctor good for?" He asked, furrowing his brows towards Caroline, completely ignoring the fact that they had company. She quickly stood up.
"Kol have you met my best friend Bonnie?" She questioned. "Bonnie this is the Lord Kol." She introduced, changing the subjects.
"Good afternoon my lord." Bonnie greeted with a bow. Kol turned to look at her, as he took in her beauty.
"Good afternoon Bonnie." He replied, taking a hold on her soft hand, placing a gentle kiss on the back of it. Bonnie's eyes widened as she felt a cold shiver go all throughout her body.
"Dead." She said before shaking her head. Kol and Caroline shared a worried look.
"Pardon?" Kol asked, looking at her with concern. Why did she just say dead when he touched her hand?
"I'm sorry, it wasn't my intention." She apologized.
"Why did you say 'dead' when Kol touched your hand Bon?" Caroline asked. Bonnie shook her head nervously while licking her lips.
"It was nothing." She replied once again. "I just felt him—so cold." She described and that is when Kol caught up. She was a witch.
"You're a witch." Kol bluntly said, staring at her, almost like if he was reading her. Bonnie gasped.
"Ho-how did you know?" She asked, placing her hand on top of her beaten heart.
"A witch?" Caroline sounded confused. She finds out Kol is not only a vampire but an Original vampire, and now that her best friend is a witch?
"Carebear, I need to explain." She first said. "I was going to tell you about this later on but since it now out, I will explain."
"Alright." Caroline replied.
"I barely found out about my witch abilities. It was 3 years ago." She commenced. "My grams is a powerful witch and she told me that I am going to be twice as powerful as her."
"Is—is this bad?" Caroline had to ask. From what she has heard of witches, they are not too kind.
"No." Bonnie and Kol replied simultaneously. They shared a look before Bonnie continued.
"Witches are care takers of nature—they—I mean we aren't dangerous to anyone. We help that is our purpose." She explained turning to look at Kol. "What are you?"
"Pardon?" Kol questioned, surprised that she even asked.
"Good afternoon." Elijah then stepped in. He was eavesdropping on the conversation and he really didn't want anyone else to know that secret.
"Oh, good afternoon my lord." Bonnie greeted and then Caroline followed along.
"Good afternoon ladies." He said.
"Oh, Lord Elijah this is my best friend, Bonnie. Bonnie this is the Lord Elijah." She introduced. Elijah just curtly nodded towards her and then he turned to look at each one of them.
"I don't want to intrude but Niklaus is in there with Katerina and I very much prefer to be out with civilization then wait around." He informed not missing the look of disappointment in Caroline's face. Bonnie quickly caught on to it and she gave her a comforting side ways hug.
"We were discussing which doctor is better." Kol covered up. Bonnie gave him a thankful smile before nodding.
"We can't decide if it is between Tyler Lockwood or Xavier Manderin, which doctor is best." Bonnie added. Caroline had to suppress a laugh since this whole thing began just to cover the real story. Now it was covering another story.
"Oh well that is quite easy—it is Tyler Lockwood." Elijah replied with a smile.
"I told you." Bonnie teased, nudging Caroline on the side making her giggle. And that was everything that took for them to began to talk. They began to share stories from when they were kids, laughing at stupid things they used to do. It was a very well day for Caroline, no interruptions from Katerina, only a day with her best friend and the lords Elijah and Kol.
"Well, I believe I have overdued my stay." Bonnie stated as she noticed that it was getting quite dark. They all shook their head.
"Quite the opposite Ms Bennett." Elijah replied. "You are welcomed to come whenever you want."
"Thank you." She responded. "You all have a nice evening, it was a pleasure spending this day with all of you. Especially my Carebear." She expressed giving her a hug.
"The same with you Bon-bon." Caroline teased.
"Bonnie, are you actually thinking on going to the village when it is already getting dark?" He asked.
"Yes, what other way can I leave?" She asked.
"I'll go call for a carriage, you are not walking alone towards the village. There are too many dangers around for a beautiful lady to walk around as if there were not." He stated before calling Wilford to fix a carriage.
"No, there was no need for it, really." Bonnie expressed while shaking her head.
"Can I tell you a story?" Kol questioned, rather than fought with Bonnie about the matter. Both Caroline and Elijah were intrigued into what he was going to say.
"Um—sure." She answered.
"Well, one fine afternoon, I was walking through the woods, on my journey to the village to get to my family." He began. Caroline's eyes widened at the realization of the story he was going to tell. "It was a quite lovely day until I heard a scream of a poor defenseless girl. I ran to the source to find Caroline being held against her will, almost at the point of being violated. She was lucky that I was walking by to help her, I can not say the same to you." He finished. Bonnie's eyes were full of tears.
"Carebear!" She exclaimed bringing her in for another hug. "I didn't know! Why didn't you mention this?! This is horrible!" She began to ramble.
"Bon, I'm ok because of Kol. I can not thank him enough for it." Caroline stated while smiling at Kol. "I do believe that it is best that you go on the carriage, just for precautions."
"Yes, of course." Bonnie obliged quickly this time. After hearing that story, she was afraid that she wouldn't be able to walk alone at night anymore.
"Mi'lord, the carriage is ready." Wilford came to inform them. Bonnie said her goodbyes as Kol accompanied her.
"I will take you home Ms Bennett." He stated, helping her get inside the carriage. Bonnie shook her head.
"Really, there is no need. You have done quite enough for me today." She said.
"Non sense, I can never do enough for such beauty." He complimented before entering the carriage.
Elijah and Caroline spoke for a while longer, reminiscing about their day. It was different than the others, that was for sure. He had a good time, for once he didn't feel like he had to pretend some facade like in front of Katerina. He was himself and he felt so relaxed.
"I must be going to check on Katerina. I left her all day alone." Caroline suddenly said, remembering that she had a job to attend to.
"Of course, I have other stuff as well." He replied. "Goodnight Caroline."
"Goodnight my lord." She added before walking towards Katerina's bedroom. Just when she was approaching it, she spotted Katerina and Klaus in a very heated kiss. She felt like her heart had stopped in that moment. Her eyes began to tear up and she didn't know what to do.
She should have known that he was playing with her just to pass the time when he wasn't with Katerina. She felt hurt, betrayed and jealous. She let out a soft sob before running away to her room. Klaus quickly pulled away from Katerina as he heard the soft sob. He knew that it was Caroline and he felt like such a jerk at the moment. Now he was sure that Caroline will never be his.
He quickly tells Katerina goodnight and then he speeds walk to the end of the hall where he than uses his vampire speed to get to Caroline's room. He doesn't even bother knocking as he storms inside her room to find her crying, curled up in a ball. He closes the door behind him.
"Caroline." He begins, bringing her attention to him. He notices her red eyes. "Why are you crying?" He asks even though he knows why.
"I—I just miss my brothers." She lied, wiping away the tears that left her eyes. Klaus closes his eyes, inhaling a deep breath.
"The real reason Caroline." He urges in a serious tone. Caroline stands up.
"That is the real reason." She stands to her choice of answer.
"I know you aren't crying for that, now tell me why you are crying!?" He demanded, almost at the peak of yelling. Caroline pressed her lips as she looked down to her hands.
"Because I saw you kissing Katerina." She barely whispered enough for him to catch on. He takes a cautious step towards her.
"Pardon?" He quirks an eyebrow towards her. She looks up to meet his eyes, she looked quite mad.
"I had said that it was because I saw you and Katerina kissing!" She yelled. "I just couldn't handle it!"
"And why is that?" He asked, wanting to hear her say it. She was finally going to admit her feelings towards him.
"Because I have fallen for you! I can't bare to see you with her, I don't feel fine with it. My heart aches every time you see her with caring eyes or you kiss her! I just couldn't handle it once I saw you and her in a heated kiss! It broke my heart, I felt the pain inside consume me at each tear that I shed because of you. I can't believe it but-" She was left at mid sentence when she feels Klaus' lips on her.
He kissed Caroline passionately, surprising her with the intensity. He had been wanting to kiss her with this much feelings, not like the first times. Caroline moaned into the kiss never feeling more loved.
"I have strong feelings for you Caroline." Klaus said out of breath as they parted. Caroline kept her eyes closed as she leaned in again, capturing his lips with hers. Neither one of them wanted to go with their feelings but they couldn't hold it anymore. Klaus began to kiss down her neck as he backed her all the way towards the bed. Caroline fell back on the bed, looking up as Klaus stared at her with so much lust and love.
"I want you." He stated in a husking tone before climbing on top of her going after her front strings to untie her dress. Just when he was about to get them all off, Caroline pushed him away and she quickly stood up. Klaus stared at her in confusion, he thought that she wanted him as well.
"Is there something wrong?" He asked her standing up. Caroline shook her head as she touched her red swollen lips.
"We can't do this my lord." She stated out of breath while her chest rose and fell. Klaus walked towards her and he touched her cheek gently.
"Why sweetheart?" He questioned giving her small and tender kisses along her neck. Caroline's eyes fluttered close at the good sensation it brought. She didn't even know why and how it happened for a matter, but she fell for him. She couldn't stand seeing him kiss Katerina anymore and she had to tell Klaus.
She then opened her eyes as she moved away once again. Klaus followed her with his gaze until she finally stopped pacing around. "You are with Katerina, lord Niklaus—I can not do this to my master. She will leave me with out a job and I need this. I need this for my family; and you know it." She spoke as tears began to spill from her eyes.
"But I can keep you and your family stable. Just accept that I want to be with you." He pleaded catching her once again. He moved a strand of hair away from her face.
"You love Katerina, don't lie. She has told me numerous times and ways that you have proven it to her." Caroline spat moving away from him again, turning to face him with her back. "You should get going to her, she awaits." She added. Klaus shook his head placing his hand on her shoulder.
"Why make it more difficult love?" He asked moving closer to her. Caroline's breath hitched as she felt his breath on her neck.
"Please my lord." She moaned. She wanted him, that was for sure, but she couldn't. It would be out of character and it would ruin her reputation even more. She would never find another job if she sleeps with the lord now.
"Don't fight what you feel." He cooed moving her hair out of the way and placing small and loving kisses on the back of her neck. Caroline was holding to the last of her willpower—she didn't want to do something she would regret later.
She shook her head and then she pushed him away. "No, my lord!" She exclaimed. "I will not be your mistress, to just fool around with when you please. I am not like that, and I will never be that way not even if I-" She stopped her ranting as she covered her mouth. Not even if I'm in love with you. She added in her mind as tears began to fill in her eyes at how much effect he had on her.
"Love, you mean more to me than just a play thing." He assured trying to reason with her. "I want to be with you." He added getting dangerously close to her once again.
"You want, but can you assure me that you will?" She asked as the tears began to flow down. "Would you leave Katerina for me?!" She questioned staring at him with hurt eyes. Klaus stopped his movements rethinking his decisions. He wanted to be with her more than ever but he had to keep up with Katerina if he wanted to go through the sacrifice. He had waited so long for the doppelganger just to lose her?
"I—I'm not quite sure what you are asking of me?" Klaus uttered scratching the back of his head. Caroline shook her head as more tears fell from her eyes. She knew he would pick Katerina, and she was a fool for thinking otherwise. She is the maid after all, and nothing more important.
"All I want is for you to go and leave me alone." She whispered as she dropped her eye sight. Klaus opened his mouth but nothing came out but a nervous laugh.
"You don't mean that." He breathed out, looking at her with pleading eyes. Caroline kept quiet waiting for him to leave the bedroom. "Caroline, love." He pleaded raising his hand to touch her cheek but she moved away.
"I want for you to leave, my lord. You have no business here." She uttered.
"But-"
"Please my lord, you have already made your decision to stay with Katerina, and I'm fine with that." She stated with her tears still falling. "I don't even know why it crossed my mind that you would actually care for me. I'm nothing, I'm just a maid." She whispered. Klaus' jaw clenched at her words, he hated that she felt so useless.
"Don't say that Caroline—you are wonderful and I can't emphasize enough how much I want to be with you but you won't take me." He stated cupping her face in her palms. She looked up at him and before she could stop him, Klaus leaned in, robbing a kiss from her lips. Caroline wanted to pull him away but she just wanted to cherish the moment before she had to ignore him.
Caroline moaned and Klaus took the opportunity to deepen the kiss as he grabbed her by the back of the neck and he pulled her closer. His hands then began to roam her body and that's when Caroline knew she had to stop before it went too far that she couldn't stop anymore, so she pulled away and then she walked passed him, leaving him hanging. Klaus closed his eyes, not knowing what else to do to be with her.
"I think its best if we forget about everything that happened tonight." Caroline said not daring to look at him anymore.
"Caroline, I have already told you how much I want to be with you!" He expressed turning her around.
"I want you." He added. Caroline shook her head.
"Do you want me enough to leave Katerina?" She asked. Klaus looked at her with a confused look, not knowing how to answer that question. He took some time before sighing and taking a step back. Caroline let out another sob at the realization of his answer. He was picking her and of course he would, she just kept fooling herself on thinking he would actually pick her.
"I understand." She cried softly. Klaus looked at her with sad eyes.
"I want you Caroline but I can not leave Katerina." He replied trying to touch her cheek, in a comforting way but Caroline moved her head as she went straight to her bed.
"Leave." She hissed with a hating glare.
"Please Caroline don't push me away. I can guarantee you that we can be together." He stated moving closer to her but she held her hand up to stop him. "We will be together." He promised.
"I don't know if to believe you." She stated in a harsh tone almost wounding him. She looked up at him, meeting his eyes to allow him to see how much he broke her with his empty promises. "Moreover, I don't want to believe you."
"Caroline." He urged, staring at her, wishing that somehow she will understand what he needs to do before getting to be with her. He didn't know when or how but he fell for this girl and all he wanted was to be with her but he couldn't leave Katerina. Not yet anyways. She stared at him, looking at him like he was a complete monster. Which he can somehow understand. "Tell me that you will wait for me."
"No, you are with Katerina and I will move on." She replied as she wiped the tears on her cheeks away. Klaus' jaw clenched feeling the pain of rejection and even if he knew that he deserved it, he didn't like that feeling. That was why he said that love was a vampire's greatest weakness.
He took a step closer to her, inches away from her face, as his face grew angrier. "I'm fine with your decision. You were just an infatuation that never meant more to me than sex." He added harshly. Caroline's breath hitched at his tone. "You were right all along—I did want you as a mistress but you are a great challenge and frankly I am done following you. Don't think that for once you were special for catching my attention, you are just a pretty face that was going to satisfy my every nee-" He didn't finish as he felt a small hand hit him across his face, catching him by surprise. He slowly turned to see her as she began to cry even more; pain covering her whole face. He felt bad about it but he kept his mask on tight. "Don't ever touch me again or I will throw you out of this mansion myself." He hissed before storming out of the room. Caroline took in a shaky breath as she fell on her knees, letting herself just break down and cry. She felt so heart broken at this moment that even if she died she wouldn't care. She even thought that death sounded so much better than living under the same roof where the man she loves is with the wench of her master.
"I'm nothing." She whispered as she curled herself into a ball, slowly swaying back and forth, trying to find comfort with herself. "I'm nothing. I have no purpose." She kept whispering.
Klaus stayed a bit outside of her door as he closed his eyes. He felt some tears in his eyes but he pushed them away. He heard her cry, he heard all the bad things she was calling herself, making him feel even worse than he can ever imagine. He knew he had to hurt her just so he could leave her room with a hard look but in reality it was slowly breaking him. He couldn't stand the cries she was letting out; he knew that if he didn't move and walk away, that he would just end up going inside to whisper her promises he wasn't sure he could keep.
He used all his willpower to start to walk towards his bedroom. He avoided everyone on his way, not wanting people to see him like this. He entered his room just to let all his anger out. He grabbed his stuff and he began to throw it around the room. He was much more angry—he was furious, devastated, and broken. It was amazing what this maid, not to mention human, did to him in such short time. He was so certain that he would never fall in love with anyone, but he failed himself. He had broken his number one rule.
A/N: *makes a worried look as I look around, giving a small wave with a nervous smile* So, what do you think? Too dramatic, just right or wrong? I want to make it as believable as I think he would really act in TVD or TO.
