Five years later:
Jacob sighed. It was the first day of high school. He had to get up. He wanted to walk to school. He always walked to school. He remembered a few years ago when he first went to the private middle school, here in Boston.

Flashback:

Jacob smiled as he watched quill fill out the paperwork and give strict instructions to the nurse to make sure he took his insulin on time. No matter what or there would be dad had to work so he couldn't be there as always. He was getting used to it.

"psst. Psst. Hey, want to see a magic trick? "

Jacob turned around to see a boy his age smiling hard and holding out his hand. Without thought, Jacob shook it and of course, got zapped.

"ha! Oldest trick in the book and you fell for it!" the boy laughed

"JUNIOR." A deep voice boomed

Jacob turned back around, shock that quill would use such a voice.

"..uh hey papa." The boy suddenly shrank

"what are you doing out of class?"

"…i-I was using the bathroom and I saw you…I wanted to say …hi."

Dad? Jacob hadn't known quil had a son.

Quill looks down at the boy and then smiled.

"Well, why didn't you say so! Come here bud... I missed you!" quill cheered as he picked up junior and flipped him on his shoulder

"Papa! Put me down. You're embarrassing me!" junior cried.

"Alright. Hey, how about the three of us get out of here and grab some pizza. Oh, Jacob, this is my son quill jr. jr this is Jacob. "

End flashback

Jacob chuckled as he remembered the first day he met his second best friend. Bella would always be first. No one could take her place. Jacob bowed to the picture he had of his mother and went on his way. He had to say goodbye to Bella before he headed Out.

With his backpack on, Jacob passed the kitchen and the dining room and went out the door that connected him to Charlie's house. He couldn't be confused because tiffany had the living room painted apple red.

It was six am, which meant harry was here. Ever since he and Bella met, she had been kept on an even tighter leash. He was allowed to see her but only in the presence of Charlie, his father or a guard. Of course, his father and Charlie were never there but harry was. Harry left them alone, he trusted Jacob and he knew that he and Bella were very close. That's why Jacob came to see her at 6 am and 10 pm.

Harry smiled at him with tired eyes.

"hey kaito. She's waiting for you but you'll have to be quick, Aro will be here soo. He's taking his time, so that you can talk to her. besides she wants to talk to you with a clear head. Shell be down for the rest of the day"

Jacob's smile fell. He hated this. They sedated Bella every three days or least when it became to wear off. It made her a zombie. She barely moved and didn't speak. Why would Charlie do this? He didn't understand. Yeah, she watched her mom die but didn't you go to therapy for that stuff? At least that's what Jacob did. He stayed next to his mothers' body for days before anyone came and that was traumatizing.

"hey...it will get better kid. I promise. now go in their and see your girlfriend." Harry joked as he opened the door.

Jacob face lit up as he saw Bella. his bells. She was sitting up, pillows propped.

"Jake!" she cheered

"sssh. Bells not so loud. How are you?"

"I'm ...ok. not looking forward to sleeping but I do get to dream about you so you know."

Jacob blushed

"haha! Theirs my tomato!"

"Whatever…if im a tomato than your mayo."

"ppsh yeah right my skin is porcelain. Dude."

There was a moment of silence before the two tweens burst out laughing

"oh!wait I wanted to tell you. Instead of taking you to the doctors appointment…were going for ramen!" Jacob told her

Bella's eyes lit up.

"really?" she asked

"yeah...I asked harry and Aro. If…we take you to Aro's office and then we go out the back. Charlie's spies will think you just in one of your sessions. we got for ramen, and then come back and bam! Your done with appointment."

Bella went to ask a question but then aro came in with harry behind him.

"sorry kids. Kaito you have to go charlie's coming."

Jacob nodded and headed out.

"jake! Wait, don't forget to eat! And have a good day! I love you!" bella whispered yelled as aro prepped his needle

Jacob felt his eyes water. "I love you too bells. And I'll eat I promise."

He made sure to wipe his tears and headed for the central front door. Quill and quill jr. were waiting for him.

Classes were boring. Jacob sped through his schoolwork, except for math. He hated math. The numbers were so confusing. That was the problem with private schools. They held you at a standard but lacked the genuine care, public schools were the same. All they cared about was the money and the way the school looked. It was about prestige and power. Jacob however didn't care about those things. He made sure no one knew he was related to the Blacks or associated with the Cullen's He refused to live in their spotlight. The black and Cullen name was famous at bright burn academy. So many expectations.

The bell rang and Jacob went through the back doors. He hated the rush of things. He wasn't going home anyway, he had some volunteering to do. Quill would meet him there in an hour. One hour. Only one hour.

Every since his last summer of middle school Jacob started volunteering at the local homeless shelter. He served the food, made the beds, and played with the children while their parents were busy. He liked it. It reminded him of his time in Arizona and his time with Mr. Leroy.

"you have your mother's eyes." An old Asian man said as Jacob tossed a ball to one of the children.

"excuse me?" jacob said as he stared at the man

"Nana korobi, ya oki (Fall down seven times, get up eight times.)"He said

Jacob stepped back and stared at him. That was the quote his mother used to say all the time.

"Wh-Who are you?"

"…youll find out soon enough….meet me at chins place down town…tomorrow night. I'm sure you can sneak out."

With a wink and a smile, the man walked away. leaving Jacob confused and curious.
