Hello! This is a variation of my fanfic, "A Little Spirit". I wrote this after a conversation I had with a friend late one night. It is pure fluff… I hope you enjoy! Once again this is a blooming romance between Six/Rex. I do not own Generator Rex MOA does. If I DID own Generator Rex, it would go like this:

Six stared out the window through the frost-covered glass. The flowing floral designs glittered in the sunlight against the hazy grey sky. It was snowing rather heavily too. In any other situation this would be peaceful and a welcomed change of pace from the usual chaos that seemed to fill his life. Six sipped his tea and stared outside with a frown marring his handsome features.

Something wasn't right about this picture…

Snow in Arizona was not uncommon, especially since Providence Headquarters was located atop a mountain along a deep cliff. It would be nice to have a white Christmas if only the snow were white…

It was glittery pink.

The snow was glittery pink.

It had his daughter shrieking with joy. She loved pink. Her "mommy" wore a pink apron whenever he was in the kitchen. Spirit stood fidgeting with glee at her "mother's" side. Rex was outside checking the snow out. Six nearly had a coronary when his husband stuck some if the strange snow in his mouth.

Spirit let out a horrifying scream as her daddy collapsed into the snow face first after grabbing his throat. Six ordered her to stay inside as he bolted out the door in nothing but pajamas and his plush emerald green robe.

'Don't be dead. Don't be dead. Don't be dead…' Six prayed.

The agent nearly jumped out of his skin when he felt a wrist wrap around his ankle. Rex spent the next minute and a half laughing his ass off in the freezing cold snow. Six was at first torn between relief and suppressing the urge to strangle his husband.

The snow was perfectly safe but as to why it was pink…

Well…

Six didn't know what to make of it or who was to blame though he suspected César as it was his favorite color… Rex chalked it up to EVOs. Spirit started babbling about Wonderland, Harry Potter, and unicorns that fart rainbow magic.

Six didn't remember ever reading her that last book so he shot his husband and accusatory glare. Rex rolled his eyes and pointed out that if it were up to Six, Spirit would have a classical upbringing, completely detached from the modern day world. Six read everything to Spirit.

"The Lord of the Rings".

"The Hobbit".

"The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland".

"The Wonderful Visit".

"The Nameless City".

"Kim".

"The Book Thief".

"Wuthering Heights".

"A Christmas Carol".

Six had cut in with "Harry Potter", "The Hunger Games", and "Rise of the Guardians". The agent pointed out that he wasn't stuck in the past; instead, he wanted someone to share his love of literature with. He pointed out that yes, some of the stories were dark, deceptive, and even a bit strange but that's the way the world is. Six was trying to teach Spirit about the world before she was old enough to face it.

Rex argued that she would never get a chance to face the world if her "mommy" didn't pry her away from the apron strings and let her see it. He pointed out the Spirit was only six-years-old and she shouldn't experience the dark, the deceptive, and the strange first hand. It shouldn't be a part of her life until she's much older.

Six countered by pointing out that their world in particular was dark, deceptive, and strange. Spirit would never have a normal childhood and the best they could do since she's too young for actual training is to educate her about it.

Rex pointed out that she was six and the only thing she should really worry about learning she already knew. Spirit was a very bright little girl. She knew how to add, subtract, and spell. She was learning martial arts, acrobatics, ballet, painting, and violin. The only thing she was missing out on was an actual childhood because she had a "tiger mom" who was trying to live through her.

Six firmly stated that he was raising her the way he was raised because he wanted her to be strong, intelligent, and prepared for whatever life threw at her. He said that that's how he tried to raise him as well.

Then things got awkward as they were once again reminded of the twelve year age gap between them…

Fortunately Spirit began crying before either could dwell on the fact that Six had indeed raised Rex more or less yet they somehow wound up married and despite the odd argument, very deeply in love.

The little girl hated it when her mommy and daddy fought. She hated it even more because it was Christmas. Both men laughed when their daughter threatened to write to Santa and tell him to bring them coal because they were being mean to each other and therefore belonged on the naughty list.

BOOF!

BOOF!

Both men looked down at the pink glittery residue on their chests then looked to their daughter. Spirit's arms were crossed over her chest as she pouted and glared up at her daddies for laughing at her. She looked about as threatening as a fluffy kitten.

Rex picked her up and kissed her cheek, apologizing for laughing at her very real threat of telling on them. Six frowned and told her that she shouldn't throw things at people. She needed to show more respect to others, particularly her parents. Spirit tilted her head to the side in confusion. She often received mixed messages like this from her daddies…

Mommy was the strict one who pushed her to be the best that she could be. He was Spirit's rock. He gave her strength and confidence. Spirit never knew what to expect from her mommy. He hardly ever smiled and didn't talk much. She loved her mommy so much but her daddy was the fun one.

Daddy didn't scold her as often. He also didn't push her quite so hard. He took her out for ice cream and makes her promise not to tell mommy. Her daddy always had a smile of some sort on his face. He was almost always happy.

Six let out a groan when Rex said those words that he dreaded each year…

"Let's take her to see Santa"!

Spirit loved Santa. The sweet little girl always greeted him with a big cheery grin and a hug before asking for whatever it was she wanted for Christmas. Last year it was a bunny but such a timid creature would not hold up well in Providence with the alarms going off day and night. Spirit cried… So they took her to Build-A-Bear where she built a green bunny with a red jacket and goggles on its forehead.

That bunny went everywhere she went. The clever girl called it "Rix", a combination of her daddies' names. Rix was going with them to see Santa. He wanted something for Christmas too but it was a secret. Spirit wanted something for Christmas too. It was a secret as well… Six was going nuts trying to figure out what that secret was so his daughter could have a wonderful Christmas.

Rex was very curious too. He often wondered if his daughter was on the same page as he was… Spirit was a very lonely little girl. She always wanted to go to the park to play with the other children and never wanted to leave. Spirit would cry and protest. It was the only time she was ever truly naughty and quite frankly, Rex couldn't blame her…

Providence was a terrible place to live in. He couldn't decide which was worse, being an adult or being a child within these harsh, unforgiving walls. Rex and Six often argued if more adopting more children would be cruel or kind.

Six sighed and helped Spirit into her big puffy Hello Kitty winter coat and bundled her up with mittens, a fuzzy Hello Kitty cat ear hat, and a scarf. She had on matching Hello Kitty snow boots and an indignant look on her face. Rex laughed at her pouting face. They headed out to one of the Providence trucks since the road would be too hazardous for Six's emerald green 1965 Chevy Coupe classic car.

His other precious baby…

The mall was packed and finding a parking space was virtually impossible until the little old lady finally left. Incredible last-minute sales or not, no one was willing to take on what was essentially a black SUV with government plates…

It was business as usual for the two agents this time of year. Rex was going to do the shopping. He actually liked shopping and knew where everything was. Six actually had patience. He was going to wait in line with his little girl. Six had her coat draped over his arm and her hand in his.

Spirit was downright fidgety just as she was every year. It was the combination of impatience, excitement, and just the sheer atmosphere of the place. The mall was decorated to the nines in everything Christmas. Santa sat in a big comfy chair with a gigantic gingerbread house behind him and a delightfully decorated tree next to him. His beard was long and curly and his cheeks were rosy.

Six kept his sanity by doing a round robin with Spirit. He would start off the story and she would take over from where he left off. Then Six would continue from where Spirit left off and so on and so on. It was a creativity exercise to distract both of them from how mind numbingly boring it was waiting to see Santa. The only part of this game that made Six uncomfortable was that they would often attract attention from other parents and children with their story.

Sometimes the other children around them would join in and Six was struck by how mature his daughter was and how willing she was to share and listen to others. There was an unfortunate side effect to this game…

Single mothers…

Rex faced the same ordeal when he would take Spirit out shopping without Six. The Latino tended to be on the receiving end of both men and women's affections more. Rex was friendlier and more open. He was a charmer by nature and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Six was intense and intimidating. The agent came off as a bit frightening at times but when played this game with his adorable little girl giving him a joyous smile he looked down right warm and fuzzy.

He became less dangerous and more approachable.

Regardless, both men tended to get in to "trouble" despite the bright steel wedding rings that adorned their fingers.

Needless to say, Rex wasn't at all surprised when he returned to Santa's village only to see a couple of women hanging off of Six's every word and the poor agent looking rather uncomfortable. Once again he would have to go over there and burst their bubbles…

A leggy blond woman with generous gazangas protested when Rex cut in line and pointed out that he didn't even have a child. Six frowned and said that Rex was his husband and that Spirit was his daughter as well.

Her jaw dropped. How awkward.

Even more awkward… Her son said that they were married just like "Daddy and Matt!" Rex had to hide the amused smile on his face by pretending to cough. Six just barely managed to not smirk. In the fourteen years he had known his husband, Rex's poker face had remained the same.

It was terrible…

Not that it mattered because it was finally Spirit's turn to see Santa! She ran right up to the old man in the Santa suit and gave him a hug. Then she did the one thing that made both her daddies blush…

Spirit asked for a baby brother or sister…

Santa had said that she needed to ask her mommy and daddy for that instead. It was their gift to her not his. So the little girl nodded and ran back to Six and Rex, declaring them "mommy" and "daddy" and asking for a little brother or sister.

To make things worse, the little boy who had previously declared that his daddy was married to a man named Matt asked, "Who's the wife" only to follow it up with, "my daddy is the wife"!

Six felt his face grow progressively hotter and hotter…

Rex bit his lip to keep himself from actually answering…

Well that was the last straw for his poor mother who pulled him from the line and said that he was being naughty so it was pointless for him to see Santa as he was going to get coal anyway.

Naturally Rex being Rex couldn't let the subject of adopting another child go once they escaped the mall and reached their truck. Six groaned as his husband and daughter began to double team him. He would've suspected Rex using Spirit as a means to get him to finally agree to bring another child into the family, but Rex would never do such a thing.

So since he was out numbered two-to-one, Six tried to use reason with his daughter. He told her that she would have to share her daddies with her siblings. She would also have to share her books and toys. Spirit remained adamant that she didn't mind. Six was going to take a different approach when she silenced him with three little words…

"Mommy, I'm lonely".

Six felt his heart plummet into his stomach. He had wanted to baby his baby a little while longer. He had wanted her to be a bit older so she could help look after her siblings. Six knew that Providence was a horribly cold and lonely place but to hear it with such sorrow from his daughter's lips…

Rex let out a "manly" squeal when Six finally said "yes".

Spirit squealed and bounced around as best as she could while strapped into her car seat. Six glanced back at his daughter's chubby grinning face through the rearview mirror with a frown. He would do anything for his baby girl even if it meant raising another child or two within Providence walls. The agent had wanted to wait until he was retired so he could raise their children in a vineyard in Southern France.

Rex could move to Providence's French branch and not have to be under White's sadistic thumb. Six could stay on as a consultant from time to time until their vineyard/café was up and running. Forty was a bit old to be going on missions though. At thirty-six, the agent was really beginning to feel older than he should, especially when it came to his back and his knees. Fortunately Rex was quite good at massage…

Rex headed off to meet up with César to wrap presents. It wasn't the most exciting thing in the world to do and he would much rather be cooking with his husband but the Salazar brothers rarely spent time with each other anymore despite living within the same compound. Callan was actually going to help Six in the kitchen instead. Holiday and Conrí were going to entertain Spirit with Christmas movies.

Three similar conversations took place, each with a different response. When Six informed Callan that he had finally given into Rex's puppy eyes regarding adopting another child or two the cowboy let out a hardy laugh and asked what finally changed his mind. When Rex told César, the impish Hispanic grinned and sincerely wished him luck. He also put in a request for a "like-minded lab assistant"… When Spirit told her beloved aunt and uncle, Conrí laughed his ass off about how Six was "ass whipped".

Spirit gave her uncle a confused look and asked what "ass whipped" meant. Holiday was absolutely no help with her snide comment… Conrí thanked his lucky stars that his ass was saved by the siren going off.

The gigantic Christmas tree in Times Square had sprung to life and was now vomiting tinsel, flinging exploding ornaments, and freezing the town! Rex gave his brother an apologetic look and told him to go help Callan. He promised to help with the presents when he got back.

Rex bolted and met up with a blushing Six, who had just come clean with Callan regarding the truth behind his sudden desire to adopt more children. Callan made two observations. One, Spirit had him wrapped around her little finger. Two, Rex had him so whipped it wasn't funny. It was pretty amusing for him to see the top agent of Providence in such a sorry state.

Six felt like kicking his ass but it wasn't worth losing his temper over. He knew that his friend was right. He was always a bit more soft hearted than the rest of "The Six", but this was getting ridiculous. The agent was still a harsh and effective leader. He still held the fear and respect of his men. That's all that mattered in the end…

That and ensuring that his husband and daughter didn't turn into spoiled brats because he gave in too easily. He wasn't quite sure which one he was worried about more in that regard…

They had taken the Keep. Half of New York had been frozen over and they had taken the slowest aircraft known to man. Unfortunately, it would've been impossible to park a jump jet anywhere near ground zero so to speak. All of the roof tops were frozen and chances are it would take several attempts before they did anything other than glide right off of the building.

Rex stared outside at the winter wonderland that was the Midwest. He cursed the fact that he had never developed a flame thrower or something as one of his builds. It didn't seem particularly practical. Not to mention Six's "great dislike" of fire and thunderstorms.

Six felt a shiver rush up his spine as he watched a couple of grunts walk by with flame throwers on their backs. Rex wrapped an arm around his husband's waist and plotted a way to break him of these fears. Such a strong man should not be crippled by fire and thunder. Sure, Six put on a brave face and took the trauma like a man when he needed to be strong. The aftermath, however, lead to weeks of nightmares, which resulted in lack of sleep.

As well as Six is able to hide the fact that he hadn't been sleeping well, it took its toll in other ways. An exhausted Six was a grumpy Six, which was just downright unpleasant.

'Happy wife happy life,' Rex thought with an amused smirk on his face.

ROOOAAARRR!

And there the tree EVO was, glaring up at the Keep as though it had said something nasty about its mother. Grunts began dropping onto the roof and quickly got to work defrosting the buildings. The melting ice seemed to be hurting the snow tree. It wasn't going to take this lying down though… The tree EVO spewed its silver tinselly goodness all over the hardworking men and women.

The burning tinsel smelled like ass. Many of the grunts were groaning at the smell. A couple of them threw up into their helmets. It was a very Unmerry Christmas for them. Six dodged the ornaments that were heading his way and began stalling the tree long enough to come up with a plan.

Rex called out Six's name in warning. The agent just barely dodged a flaming big fat sword. It sliced through the ice that had encrusted the tree and cut it in half. Rex couldn't help but feel bad at destroying such a thing of beauty. The Christmas tree in Time Square was more than just a gimmick to attract tourists. It brought thousands of people together under one starry sky to witness a beacon of shimmering holiday cheer.

But still…

Rex gagged at the horrible smell of burnt tinsel and ended up throwing up in the bushes. Six sighed and rubbed his husband's back. "Jingle Bells" started to play from somewhere as Providence got to work trying to thaw the thousands of frozen peoplecicles.

Rex stared at the poor victims in horror as he wondered how many would survive and how many families would be torn apart by this. Six had a haunted look on his face as he stared at one little girl particular. She was Spirit's age. Her chubby little face was frozen mid scream. She was in her father's arms, utterly terrified of the killer Christmas tree. No child should have to witness such a thing curing such a joyous time. It was like finding out that Santa was nothing more than some grumpy fat guy with a shit job.

Six wondered what possessed people to bring a child into such a world. He thought that he was a terrible father (mother) at times for brining both Rex and Spirit into Providence. He may have been doing them a favor. Providence was cold and cruel but it was safe at the very least. Maybe adopting more children while working for Providence wasn't such a horrible idea after all…

Rex eventually stood and buried his face into Six's neck, inhaling his musky scent, a combination of sweat and aftershave. The Latino had to step away before he got too carried away. He already felt himself getting a little hard. There was no way he felt like doing that after puking his brains out.

Six managed to pull his gaze from the little girl's horrified face and wrapped an arm around his husband as he lead him back to the Keep. Rex took a shower and brushed his teeth before laying down for a nap. He wondered how Six managed to be so strong through all of this. It was like the agent's stomach was made out of steel or something.

'How did he not throw up?'

Six remained by Rex's side long enough to ensure that he was settled in and sleeping. He was hoping that after a nap, his energetic nut ball of a husband would be right as rain. Spirit would be upset to see her daddy sick. Not to mention all the food that Callan was making on his own now…

Six took a deep breath and stepped outside into the rancid smelling air. A chill ran up his spine as he picked up an abandoned flame thrower and concentrated on the ground. It was the best they could do for the time being until the scientists got their shit together and arrived. Poor Holiday was going to have a hell of a long night…

It was hours before several jump jets were flown in, his included. Six was surprised to see Conrí. He was a hacker after all… Holiday had flown in using his jet. She told him to go home to his daughter. Six got Rex and did just that.

As soon as Six was able to take over cooking duties, Callan left to be with César who was now in Times Square, trying to save lives. Spirit cried up a storm because her uncles and auntie were missing from Christmas dinner. Rex had explained why they were gone and how they would hopefully be back tomorrow to open presents.

Spirit seemed to take it well but this Christmas was just a little too sad for the ever observant little girl. No one really seemed to be in the mood for celebrating, not when so many lives were in danger of being snuffed out by a Christmas tree.

Still, she put on a brave face and muttered, "Okay… But I don't wanna open gifts without them!"

Six and Rex readily agreed…

HAPPY NEW YEARS! I posted a bit early this time as I am off to a party! WOOT! WOOT! I hope that everyone reading this has an awesome new year! Here's wishing you all peace and happiness! I love you people!
