Hikaru's mind whirled as she tried to figure out what to do. She had gotten a description of Berserker from Shirou but his description was nothing compared to the real thing. Berserker was huge! He was a giant compared to his little shrimp of a Master!
"Mongrel. I was finally getting somewhere," growled Gilgamesh. The King of Heroes took a step forward so he stood between Hikaru and the giant Servant. His mouth twisted into a grin. "I am in a horrible mood right now so the least you do is take responsible and die for your transgression."
Whoa whoa! Hang on! She looked around. They were in the middle of a residential district, with houses in all direction. If the Servants fought here there would be a couple of causalities no matter how she looked at it. Her hands tightened into fists. No. She would not allow anyone innocent to die.
"Gilgamesh, we need to get out of here."
Her Servant looked at her in surprise. "What the hell are you talking about!? I will not run from that mongrel!" Jeez. From the way he said it, it was like she had stolen everything from his vault.
Berserker let off a mighty roar and swung his huge battle axe. It crashed into a nearby light pole, effectively severing it in two.
Hikaru's eyes widen. That settled what they needed to do in her mind. "We can't fight here Gilgamesh, we need to get somewhere where there will be no people around." She grabbed his arm and with the help of reinforcement, pulled him.
"Really now?" Gilgamesh stared at her like she had grown three heads. "Hikaru, those peasants do no matter. We are going to be-"
He broke off as Berserker began lumbering in their direction. Gilgamesh opened the Gate and flung a few swords at the huge beast. Berserker didn't even seem bothered by the blades and just swung his axe to block a couple of them. One of the swords made it through but it didn't even slice through Berserker's thick skin.
Oh hell no. "GIL!" she yelled, hoping that the use of the new nickname would make him more inclined to listen to her. She pulled him again. "Come on! You can make him a human pincushion soon. There's a place nearby with no people around."
For a moment Hikaru though that Gilgamesh would not listen. "Running away like a coward. If the people of my kingdom saw me like this…" he mumbled unhappily but he did follow her as she began to run.
"Hey! They're running away! After them Berserker!" yelled Ilya.
Hikaru could feel the ground shaking as Berserker gave chase. Good! He was following!
"Me? Running! I can't believe this," grumbled Gilgamesh. "If only I had still Vimana, at least then I can flee without exerting much energy on my part."
A quick glance back told Hikaru that Berserker was much faster than a person of his size should be. Damn. She reinforced her legs and increased her speed. Gilgamesh seemed to realize the same thing as he opened his Gate and began throwing swords at Berserker in order to slow the giant down. "Are we almost there? I don't know how long I can stand running like a commoner."
"We're almost there. It's just up ahead." Hikaru yanked out her phone and quickly speed dialed Shirou's number.
After one ring, Shirou answered. "Hikaru? What's up?"
"I think you guys are going to need to go without us," Hikaru said. "I'm unfortunately a little tied up right now." She looked back and cursed. Berserker didn't seem to be bothered much about the flying swords coming at him.
"Are you okay?" asked Shirou at the same time Berserker let off another feral roar. "Hikaru!? What the hell was that?"
"Don't worry. My Servant can handle this." Hikaru turned the corner without slowing in order to keep the lead she had on Beserker. Gilgamesh voiced his annoyance for having to run but she ignored him. "You two can go on ahead, like I said. I don't think I will be able to do anything else tonight."
Silence from the other end. She checked her phone to make sure that the call didn't drop. Nope, still good. "Good luck. Be careful," Shirou said finally.
"Don't worry. I'll be fine. My Servant will see to that." Hikaru hung up and turned again to enter a graveyard. Not the best place to have a fight but this would have to do. It was a pretty big graveyard too so the chance of having any human causality was minimum. At least, she hoped so.
"How fitting for a place where a mongrel will die," chuckled Gilgamesh. He stopped and turned to face the advancing Berserker. The monster's little Master was nearby.
"Are we done playing tag?" laughed the little girl. She put her hands on her hips. "Or are you out of places to hide and how your death will be quick and painless."
"Oh yes little girl, we are," Gilgamesh replied with his own laugh. He opened the Gate wider behind him and began throwing weapons at Berserker. Berserker roared from the weapon onslaught and tried charging again but fell to his knees. The onslaught of weapons was too much for the giant.
"Berserker?!" Ilya cried out in surprise.
Hikaru wasn't surprised. No matter who the Servant was, Gilgamesh was stronger. Her Servant stopped the onslaught as Berserker was now kneeling on the ground. There had to be at least twenty swords impaled in the giant.
"You have been punished for disturbing me and my Queen," snarled Gilgamesh. He turned to look at Hikaru. "Shall we go? I bore of this and that mongrel is done for anyway." He reached out and cupped Hikaru's cheek in his hand. "Shall we continue what we started?"
She could not believe him. "Really now? You want to go back to something like that!?" She was happy that Berserker had popped in. It had stopped her from making a grave mistake. Ugh, what was she thinking? Letting him kiss her like that. "Let's just go. We probably still have time to catch up with Rin and Shirou-"
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw movement. Without thinking she ducked as a gravestone came flying at her. It hit the ground behind her, spraying up dust and debris in the air.
"Mongrel!" snarled Gilgamesh.
Chains tore out of the Gate and wrapped around Berserker, promptly pinning him in place. However, even though the chains were holding him still, the giant was still struggling against them with fury. Also, unlike when Hikaru struggled, it looked like Berserker was actually moving the chains.
Gilgamesh's eyes narrowed. "My chains will not hold him."
"How in the world is he still alive?" wondered Hikaru. That guy had been impaled more than Rider was! He had gone down for a couple of seconds but now he was alive and ready to go again! Heck, based on how he struggling against Gilgamesh's chains, he had more vigor than before. Her eyes settled on Ilya. The girl was laughing.
"No matter what you do, you can't beat Berserker! He's invincible!"
Who was Berserker in life? And would Gilgamesh be fine fighting him?
Hikaru's Servant laughed. It looked like he didn't have the same amount of worry as Hikaru did. "No one can defeat the King of Heroes." He opened the Gate wider and began throwing more weapons at Berserker. Since the Servant was pinned for the moment, he could do nothing but take the hits. Watching it though, Hikaru felt like it looked hopeless. No matter how many times Gilgamesh's swords hit the Servant, he still would not die.
Damn it. She glanced over at her Servant. Even though he had his mad grin on his face by the way his brows were furrowed, he was wondering as well what the hell was going on.
Hikaru's eyes settled on Ilya. She wasn't really one for fighting children but if the rumors she heard of the Einzbern were true, that little girl was not an actual little girl at all. "I'll take care of Ilya," she murmured.
Before Gilgamesh could protest, she was already running with reinforced legs towards Ilya. She yanked her phone out of her pocket, ready to send a current through it. Sadly, her phone probably would not survive the charge but hey, at least she be able to get Ilya out of commission for a while. That had to weaken Beserker somewhat and give Gilgamesh a chance to take the huge Servant out.
Ilya's eyes widen in horror as the little girl realized that Hikaru was coming for her. A roar came from her left along with what sounded like the breaking of chains. She turned her head and her eyes widen as she saw Beserker's axe come flying in her direction.
Gilgamesh thought he was winning. He did not know how the mongrel was still alive even through everything the King of Heroes had thrown at him. That monster had to have survived dying at least three times now. Even though Enkidu didn't seem to be holding him back well, it held him back enough that it was making it easy for Gilgamesh to skewer him over and over again. It didn't matter how many times it took, he would keep killing this mongrel over and over until he stayed dead.
And then his dear Hikaru had decided to take matters into her own hand like she always did. That was one of the few things that he loved about her, about how she thought of ways to help. Hikaru wasn't the kind to sit on the sidelines and let him take care of everything(despite sometimes he wished she would just stay put). She went running towards the little girl, that beast's Master.
He turned his attention back to Berserker, ready to kill him again. It was then at Berserker did something that surprised even Gilgamesh. He let off another feral roar. His muscles flexed as he swung the arm holding his battle axe. The King heard the sound of metal breaking. His red eyes widen as Berserker broke free of Enkidu. To make matters worse, Hikaru was right next to the giant on her way over to the little girl.
The monster swung his axe. At the same moment Hikaru realized what was going on and threw her weight backwards to try to get out of the way. She couldn't get fully out of the way though. The axe was too long, Berserker was too fast.
Gilgamesh saw her fall. He saw the blood fall from her chest as she crumpled to the ground. Rage pounded through Gilgamesh. He couldn't even speak, couldn't even function. His vision took on a filter of red. All he could focus on was Berserker and Hikaru crumpled on the ground. That lowlife would pay. He would pay for everything. He would rue the day he tried to take anything from the King of Heroes. He opened his Gate wider.
"Berserker!" yelled Ilya. "Let's get out of here now!" It looked like the little girl could sense the king's power.
Well good for her. However they would not leave. They were not dismissed from the King's presence yet.
He called forth his trump card. That lowlife didn't even deserve to be killed by it. However Hikaru was lying there on the ground, her blood pooling on the ground. No, that monster deserved to die by it. The golden hilt of Ea poked out of the Gate.
The girl was running away now, her Servant had gone into spirit form. Well that didn't matter. The girl could die from it from for all he cared.
"Gil?"
He froze and turned to the sound of the voice. She was sitting upright, her arms wrapped around herself. "Gil, calm down please." She shut her eyes and sucked in a few deep breaths. "I'm fine." She gave him a weak smile. "I'm fine. Please. Just…leave them. Let them go."
He didn't want to. All he wanted to do was run after that girl and tear her limb from limb and do the same to her Servant. However, what would happen to her when he was gone? She was still injured and she couldn't heal. What if she bled out? What if a normal human found her?
He couldn't leave her, not like this. Gilgamesh removed his hand from Ea, closed the Gate and hurried over to her side. She gave him a strained smile but she had to be in a lot of pain. The front of her shirt was covered in blood and torn in two. If she wasn't holding the shirt closed with her hands he would have a view of her chest.
"I'm fine," she said quickly. "He only knicked me with his sword. I wasn't able to dodge it fully as you probably saw but it could have been worse." She gave him another strained smile. That just told him it had to worse than what she was letting on.
"Let me see," he said.
Her brown eyes narrowed and for a moment Gilgamesh thought he could see panic in her eyes. "How could you think that at a time like this!?" she cried out in the end.
Really now? Yes he may tease her about that kind of stuff a lot but she was bleeding. Her life force was draining out of her body and she was worried about modesty now? "You are bleeding Hikaru. I applaud your strength but the amount of blood that is on your shirt and ground, you are not fine."
"Don't worry, I am fine. Really Gil." She looked around. "Where's my phone. I dropped it when I was attacked."
What was with her? Why was she actively trying to change the subject? Well no matter what, he would not be swayed by the matter at hand. "Let me see your injury."
"It's fine."
She was not looking him in the eye. Gilgamesh's eyes narrowed. He didn't want to anything against her will. Not after what had happened a couple of days ago. But her stubbornness was infuriating. She was bleeding out and was denying that it was bad to his face.
"Let me see," he repeated, his voice having an edge to it.
Hikaru did not move. Her eyes stared up at him defiantly. "I'm fine. Really. We should go Gil." She got to her feet, her hands still holding her shirt closed. She swayed slightly but she was able to stay on her feet. "Look, I can stand so it's not that bad."
This was ridiculous. "I have healing salves in my vault. I need to see your injury to see which one you need."
Hikaru shook her head stubbornly. Gilgamesh sucked in a deep breath to try to control his temper. "Let me see," he snapped. He grabbed her wrist and pulled. She struggled against him. "No! Gil no!"
What the hell was up with her!? "I don't care about your breasts right now if that's what you are worried about!" he snapped, his patience wearing thin. He noticed that she wasn't even using her reinforcement ability to try to stop him. Her eyes were wide in panic. Pure panic and fear. What was she so afraid of?
"Gil! Let me go!" she yelled. Her hands were clutched tightly against her shirt in a death grip.
"Let me see!" he snapped, ignoring her protests. Her blood was leaking out from under her shirt and was pooling on the ground. "You are going to die due to your stubbornness and I refuse to let you die!"
With one powerful pull he was able to get her hands away from her shirt. It fell open, revealing her injury. She stopped fighting him and looked away. "I told you to stop," she whispered.
Gilgamesh barely heard her. His focus was on her chest. A thin line ran down her chest, the injury she had sustained from Berserker. Blood was leaking out of it but like she said, it wasn't as bad as Gilgamesh thought it was. It really did just graze her. However, that wasn't what his focus was on. It was covered in blood but through it he could see a huge scar covering her chest. It went from the top of her breasts down to right above her navel.
"What the hell is this?" he asked.
"I told you I wasn't perfect," she whispered, all the fight in her gone. "I'm not perfect at all."
