The Legend of Zelda: The Four Heroes Sequel - The Past in the Future

Sneak Peek… Coming soon

Maybe

Don't count on it

Green wandered about in the crystallized palace, reveling in the blue shimmering surfaces of the walls and floors of the colossal castle. He wasn't sure how he had gotten there, nor where was there, for that matter, but it seemed to have no significance whether he knew or not. Everything seemed slightly distorted, the sharp curves and edges of reality blurred and hazy.

His resounding footsteps echoed in the still and quiet air, answered by no one. It looked as if Green was alone in the strange palace; no one could possibly keep silent in such a gigantic place as this.

Or could they…?

Green had the nagging sense that he was being watched, but every time he snuck a quick glance over his shoulder, just to check, the hallway behind him was completely empty.

As he turned the corner, Green came upon a gigantic chamber, filled with crystallized statues, their expressions frozen forever. He walked down the center of the room, looking about at all of the statues. Some were alone, while others were in groups. A whole cluster of statues caught Green's attention. The statues were all knights in shining armor, some of them wearing bronze plating while the other ones bore golden armor. The bronze knights were aiming bows nocked with flame-tipped arrows at their opposers. The golden soldiers, swords and blades in hand, had their weapons raised against their bronze-wielding enemies.

A battle. There was no other explanation for the spectacle Green was seeing before him. He moved on, only to stop at another brigade of statues a few feet ahead of the first group. In this scene, both golden and bronze warriors were defending against a whole battalion of beasts. ranging to ferocious Lizalfos, their swords and claws up at the ready, to gigantic Moblins, grinning wickedly, their spears raised.

Green allowed himself to gape, wide-eyed, at the war frozen in time in front of him, before gathering his senses and moving on. Clearly, the stilled figures made out of crystalline were depicting a war going on long ago, first between man and man, and then quickly turning into a battle against beast. But how long ago had this battle happened? Why was it frozen in time? Why would a castle like this be holding reminders of a war once waged?

How come he'd never heard of it before?
Something was bothering him about the statues. Green doubled back to the scene in which man battled monster, examining the statues more carefully. And then he saw it.

One of the warriors in golden armor was…

Was…

No… not him.

But it looked all too uncannily like Green. It looked almost exactly like him, though with a much older, dignified presence around it, as if it was him in the future. An idea kept nipping at him, but he couldn't seem to wrap his mind around it.

After staring at the golden-clad soldier for what seemed to be an eternity, Green finally tore his eyes away and continued on, this time to a lone figure. It was a woman, riding atop a sleek white horse, looking over her shoulder. It was strange, as if her eyes were trained on something specific. Green followed her gaze, and his heart nearly stopped when he saw she was looking straight at the battle between the bronze- and golden-armored men and the monsters.

A memory suddenly resurfaced in his head.

"She was the wife of a Hylian knight. One day, her home village was overrun by monsters and she was forced to flee. She gave birth to you four, the heroes of the goddesses of the triforce. But… alas, she died right after giving birth."

Could it be…?

Before Green could fully register the shock that was coursing through him like adrenaline, something moved out of the corner of his eye.

A dark, lightning-fast flash, but that was all he needed to know that there was someone tailing him.

Green turned to look at where he had saw the figure move and was unsurprised to see that he (or she) had vanished into thin air. But what drew his attention was the painted glass, molded elaborately into the shape of a window on the wall behind where he saw the figure move, sunlight filtering through the mosaic and turning shades of color as they hit the ground.

Green gasped, his eyes widening and his jaw going slack.

The mosaic showed four boys locked in combat against each other, each calling forth a natural element to aid them in their fight.

But it wasn't just any four boys.

Green stared at himself in the stained glass as his mirrored self tried to kill Blue, Red, and Vio.
