The first thing Kitty noticed when she woke up was how warm she was, which was strange because usually she's cold. Blinking, the second thing Kitty noticed was Sherlock was still in bed. And the last thing she noticed was that she was cuddling with him. Wait scratch that, the last thing she noticed was the Sherlock was allowing her to cuddle with him. She just laid there, listening to his heartbeat as he slept on and thinking about what went on the night before. All they did was kiss but now that Kitty's lying there awake, thoughts were creeping into her head.
Why did Sherlock kiss her? Was it because Claire called her 'daddy'? Or does he actually have feelings for her? I mean, he's not exactly known for having relationships…and what if this was a onetime thing?
"Hey," a hand squeezed her shoulder, "what are you thinking about?" Surprised and hoping she didn't wake Sherlock up, Kitty moved to stare at him.
"Nothing, don't worry about it." She lightly smiled. They stared at each other for a few more moments before Kitty tuned in to the rest of the complex. "Do you hear Claire?" Another moment of silence passed before Sherlock shook his head. Jumping off the bed, Kitty raced to her daughter's room. She stopped at the doorway and placed her hand over her heart in relief. Claire was on the bed snuggled up against her stuffed animal.
"Is she okay?" Startled a little as she didn't hear Sherlock walk up, Kitty turned to look at him. He was wearing a long grey robe with a classic grey-white shirt and blue plaid shirts. His hair was all ruffled up and he was yawning. Smiling, she nodded.
"She's great, just sleeping." Grabbing his hand, she pulled him into the kitchen. "What do you want for breakfast?"
"Anything's fine." Sherlock sat down and reached out for the newspaper John had left last time he visited.
"Alright, eggs and bacon it is with some tea." As she was checking the refrigerator for eggs (and ignoring the strange body parts in the compartment drawer), Kitty couldn't find any. "Or maybe not. I'll be right back, I'm just gonna go get some eggs and probably a few other things…" She grabbed her bag and scarf off the chair next to Sherlock and headed towards the door. Fumbling with her scarf at the door, she didn't look up until she ran into a man. "Oh my, I apologize!"
"Oh it's fine deary." Looking up, she immediately took a step back. The man was roughly fifty years old with sunglasses on and a walking stick in his hand. "In fact, I was hoping I could talk to a certain Ms. Diane." The man's smile was uncanny and made her even more uncomfortable.
"I'm sorry. No one lives here by that name." She started to close the door when the man stopped it with his foot.
"Now it's my turn to apologize. I meant, Ms. Katherine."
"No one of that name lives here either."
"We both know that's a lie Katherine." She started backing up as he moved closer. Footsteps behind her made her jump to the side where she could see whoever it was coming down the stairs. "Ah," the man hummed, "Mr. Sherlock Holmes, a pleasure to finally meet you." Kitty's heartbeat that had sped up started to calm down…just a little bit.
"And what do we owe this visit Mr..?"
"Mr. Jeffery." He held out a hand for Sherlock to shake."And as much as I want to stay, I'm starting to overstay my welcome. I shall see you sometime soon." The man, or Mr. Jeffery, tapped his walking stick and walked out the door. The second he was gone, Sherlock closed the door and locked it. Then stepped over to Kitty and put his hands on her shoulders.
"Are you alright?" After her shock seemed to disappear, Kitty nodded. "Who was that?"
"That was my ex-boss. He's…" Her breathing started to get irregular.
"Kitty," Sherlock's voice was faint, "Kitty I need you to breathe." After a few more attempts, he had her sit down on the stairs. "Come on Kitty, I need you to breathe!" His voice was slightly louder but not by much. Then he did the only thing he could think of, he kissed her. A few seconds later, Kitty kissed back, her breathing seeming to go back to normal. Breaking away, Kitty looked down.
"Thanks, I'm not used to panic attacks, haven't had one in years."
"Are you alright?" Sherlock repeated his question from earlier.
"Yeah I think I'm-" Kitty hesitated before looking up and intensely staring at Sherlock, then said one word, "Claire." The look of pure terror on her face made them hurry up the stairs to the girl's room.
"She's gone."
DUN DUN DUN! So...
Not a lot of info on how the two will move forward in this relationship, but there's yet another new character.
What do you think the relationship between a certain Mr. Jeffery (that's his first name by the way) and Kitty?
