Sasuke sat quietly in his dark room. The sound of silence was deafening. His dull eyes remained locked on his hand that her rested in the middle of his lap.
"Friends?"
The blonde's voice echoed in his head. Everything about the cheerful maid rattled around in the younger Uchiha's mind. The small appendage attached to his palm twitched as he recalled the warmth of Naruto's pinky intertwined with his own. "Friends." He mumbled gently to himself in response to the ghostly voice dancing inside his brain.
The apparition of the beautiful blonde smiled warmly at him. His eyes locked onto Naruto's beautiful blue. Even in his imagination, those remarkable blue eyes were breath-taking. Sasuke reached out to caress the invisible cheek, and scowled in dissatisfaction when his hand passed through the mirage. A growl escaped his throat as he slammed his hand into the comforter.
It had been nearly a week since that day by the water, and Sasuke had been side-stepping the small blonde every chance he got. Honestly, the raven didn't fully understand why, but every time he saw his bright golden tresses Sasuke would lock himself in the nearest room to avoid confrontation. The loud thumping of his usually calm heart sped up when he saw the younger maid. Now, Sasuke was holed up in his room uncomfortably wondering to himself why he was acting this way.
Sasuke fell against his comforter and sighed to the canopy ceiling of his bed and sighed loudly to himself. His dark black eyes danced with emotions; emotions that the young raven wasn't used to feeling.
"You cheated!" Naruto shouted in defiance as he stood up from the ground in a huff. His fake bust bounced as he stood up making the orange fabric of his tank top to stretch.
Sakura straightened up the cards, game tokens, and fake money of their competitive monopoly game that they had been playing for four hours straight. "You're just jealous because you suck at this game!" She stuck her pink tongue out at the furious blonde.
Naruto crossed his arms across the bottom of his breasts and glared. "No, you're cheating! Right
Hinata?" He turned his head to the dark haired woman to his left.
A bright red blush spread across the girl's pale face. "Well, I-uhm- No, I don't th-think Sakura is cheating…" She mumbled softly as she fidgeted in her spot next to Kiba who spent the whole game trying to get the girl to laugh. To Kiba's dismay all Hinata ever did was grace him with a small smile. Kiba's crazy brown hair danced along the table surface as he rested his head on the wood surface in defeat.
"Hinata!? You can't take her side. She's a traitor." Naruto shouted pointing at the gloating pinkette.
"I-well-uhm-"
"Leave Hinata alone, Blondie!" Kiba shouted coming to Hinata's defense.
"I'm not doing anything, dog-breath."
"You're being an asshole."
"Sakura is cheating!"
Hinata looked back and forth between the disputing duo with a worried look. She lifted a single finger to her lips and nibbled down on the soft skin. Sakura crawled around the two of them and snuggled up beside Hinata. "Don't worry," The pinkette said in a whisper, "When they fight, it really means they love each other."
Hinata's shoulders dropped as she looked at Sakura with a sad expression. "Naruko loves Kiba?" The gentle tone of her voice could hardly be heard over the fighting of the two males.
Sakura giggled lightly. "Are you jealous, Hinata?"
The girl's pale face was quickly dyed a deep red. "N-no, t-that's not i-it!" She stuttered in defiance.
Sakura shook her head at the blue haired girl. "No, Kiba and Naru could never have a relationship like that. They are just really good friends."
"I'll kill you, dog-breath!"
"Not if I kill you first."
Hinata looked at the two friends with wide-eyes as they began to wrestle amongst the destroyed gaming board. She turned her head to Sakura with worried eyes. "Friends?"
"Kiba saved Naruko, in a way."
"What do you mean?"
Sakura smiled. "Naruko and Kiba became friends after her parents passed away from a tragic accident." The pinkette's jade eyes fell to her hand as she delicately toyed with a strand of yarn from the carpet. "You see, their death came as a shock to her. She was close with her parents, extremely close. It was insane how perfect their family was, and after they died, Naruko was completely different." Hinata stared at the pinkette with her mouth slightly agape. "I've known her since we were in elementary school, but even I didn't know how to help her after the accident. I couldn't do anything. She was a zombie, or so it seemed. She walked around like a shell, merely surviving, never living. There were no smiles, or jokes. No matter what I said or did Naru was numb."
"And then Kiba-?"
"Kiba showed up out of nowhere." Sakura exclaimed. "Naru and I were at a ramen restaurant eating some of her favorite meals and Kiba showed up being his idiot self." Sakura smiled at the memory. "The moron came running into the restaurant after one of the dogs he used to walk for an older lady in his apartment complex. This small Pomeranian was rampaging through this small restaurant tripping people and spilling noodles, and Kiba wasn't any better. As Kiba ran passed he knocked Naru's arm making her spill the broth all over herself and the table. He didn't even turn to say sorry, just kept running after the dog."
"Poor Naruko…" Hinata mumbled.
Sakura shook her head. "Naru was so enraged. She stood up from the booth and stomped her way over to Kiba who was wrestling with the small fluff ball. Naruko grabbed Kiba's ear and pulled him off the ground with a growl. While he forced the brunette up, the dog he had jumped up and licked his open mouth." Sakura laughed. "It was the funniest thing in the world! And Naru thought so too, because she laughed. That was the first time I had heard her laugh in months."
Hinata looked at the two of them. Naruto had Kiba pinned to the ground, but the brunette still fought viciously against the small grip. Kiba nipped at his arm. Naruto drew back in surprise giving Kiba the upper hand as he threw the lithe blonde off of him and tackled his small waist. The two of them crashed against the wall.
"Kiba's just kind of been around since then." Hinata nodded in response to the pinkette. Sakura stood up with a sigh and placed her hands on her hips. "Yo!" She shouted with authority. The two boys whimpered and looked over at her. "There are ladies present. Stop your stupid spat!" Sakura walked over and pulled them apart by their ears.
"Ow! Sakura!" Naruto whined in pain.
Kiba tried to push her off of him. "Stop!" He growled.
"Naru, we are leaving."
"Eh?" Naruto answered the pinkette. Sakura released Kiba. "Where are we going?"
"Yeah, where are you going?" Kiba asked as he rubbed his sore ear. Jade eyes clashed against dark brown. She simply giggled and winked before pulling the blonde out of the door with her. Kiba watched them leave with confusion painted on his tattooed face. "Do you know where they are going?" He turned to Hinata. She simply shook her head. Kiba looked around the destroyed room with an embarrassed expression painted across his face. Hinata watched his with a light blush spread across her pale face. "Fuck, what a mess." Kiba mumbled as he scrambled to pick up the small silver tokens along the floor. Hinata began to quickly scoop up the rainbow of different colored paper that littered the carpet. As Kiba scurried he tried to scoop up a big pile of paper money and ended up grabbing Hinata's hand as well. A bright blush spread across the couple's faces as they looked at their entwined hands.
The brunette dropped his handful of things and stared into her pearl colored eyes. "I-" He stuttered childishly. "I-I…" A lump climbed up his throat as he stared into her beautiful eyes. Her pink lips slightly parted in confusion as Kiba held tightly to her hand. He clenched his eyes tightly. "I like you!" He shouted to the surprised girl.
Her blush darkened as she stared at the brunette.
Sakura squealed in delight as she sauntered down the hallway with Naruto following closely behind her. "What are you being so loud about, Sakura?" Naruto asked as he soothed his throbbing ear.
Sakura smiled brightly at her blonde friend. "I am an awesome match-maker. I should do it for a living."
"For someone who's so great at it, you have a hell of a time finding a boyfriend."
Naruto flinched as glowering eyes burned into his. "Shut-up, moron! I've discovered something new about myself recently." She beamed in confidence.
Disbelief pressed itself tightly against Naruto's lips as he sneered at the comment. "Oh? And what is that?"
Sakura punched him lightly on his thin tan arm before giving him a half smile. "I'm too mature for men my own age."
"Gold digger." Naruto coughed.
"Shut up, stupid." She stuck her tongue out. "You're just jealous."
"Of what? I don't like vagina. Remember?"
A scoff vibrated past the pinkette's pale throat. "You are so vulgar sometimes."
"Yeah, I get it from my pappy."
Sakura laughed. Her eyes caught sight of something darting into a room. "Naruto, what was that?"
Naruto eyed her curiously. "What was what?"
"Something just ducked into that room." Her voice held a twinge of fear as her pale green eyes shot directly to the door.
Naruto froze in his spot. "What do you mean something?"
"Like, something!? I didn't see it."
The usual tan face of the blonde paled at the words. "Is it a ghost?"
Sakura clung to the small boy's arm. "I don't know." She said fearfully.
"Sakura! There better not be a fucking ghost in here!" The blonde shrieked in terror as they eyed the door.
"Open it." Sakura commanded lightly.
"No."
"Naruto, open it."
"Fuck no!"
"Just do it."
"Do it yourself, woman!"
Sakura pulled away from the boy with a glare. "F-fine!" She stuttered as she made herself towards the door. With a gentle push the door creaked open revealing a dimly lit room. With the door fully opened it looked as if the room was empty. The tight clutch on her heart softened releasing a wave of relief to flood through her body. She turned toward Naruto. "There is no one in here."
A hand snaked out of the darkness and placed itself on Sakura's shoulder. A shriek of terror echoed through the entire house as Sakura and Naruto simultaneously screamed in terror.
Kakashi stood in front of the two teenagers with his hand on the back of his head. "Sorry!" He apologized to a furious pinkette, and a petrified blonde. Blue eyes watered in agitation as he stared at the silver haired man.
"I hate you, Kakashi." Naruto gushed unhappily as he bit a blanket that had been previously thrown on him for added comfort.
"I really wasn't trying to scare you." Kakashi reassured.
Sakura eyed him. "Then why the hell didn't you just say something."
A chuckle escaped the man. "I didn't think you guys would cause such a commotion."
Pink brows furrowed over green eyes. "But something ducked into your office! What was it?"
"Ah! That." He stated plainly before fingering his chin. "I wonder how that little raven is doing anyway."
"It was a bird?" Naruto asked gently as he unwrapped himself from the blanket cocoon he made.
"Something like that."
Sasuke buried his face into his hands as he pressed himself up against the wall in Kakashi's office. Once again the youngest Uchiha had fearfully escaped the confrontation with the blonde beauty. The moment he saw Naruto and Sakura walking happily down the hallway he had ducked into the nearest room possible which just happened to be Kakashi's main office. He was glad the silver-haired man didn't rat him out. Instead he was greeted by a look of curiosity that he swore to himself he would never answer. He, himself, didn't understand the situation.
He leaned up against the wall and let his eyes travel to the ceiling as he clenched the aching in his chest. The blonde's smiling face beautifully lit by the dimming sunset was radiant. It made those already entrancing blue eyes dance with an endless pool of emotion. The golden locks were highlighted by the natural rays of the sun; long strands of the purest gold. Sasuke closed his eyes and tightened his pinky. Naruto's skin was so soft.
Why was he reacting like this now? He had kissed the blonde. He had felt the soft tan skin before. But, it was different this time. Before the kisses were one sided attempts to release his frustrations, now it felt more intimate. That one single moment when their two pinkies intertwined was more intimate than the few kisses he had forced on the blue-eyed blonde. It had affected him differently too.
A long sigh escaped passed the brunette's pale lips. After a few more minutes he stood up and made his way toward the thick door he had fled through nearly an hour earlier.
"Kakashi, we have to go help the bird!" Naruto demanded as he shuffled his way passed the older man who followed closely behind him.
"Naruto, I'm sure it's fine." He persuaded calmly without any enthusiasm.
"No! Birds belong outside where they can fly."
Sakura followed behind them trying to keep up with their quick pace. "It's just an animal, Naru."
"Heartless, you are all heartless!" He stated as he ran to the door. Naruto finally made it to the thick mahogany door and attempted to push it open. The brass knob slipped out from under his fingertips as the door was pulled open. "Eh?" Naruto questioned lightly as gravity took over and he fell forward into a field of warmth.
Two bodies collided painfully and toppled to the hardwood floor beneath them.
A smirk folded across Kakashi's lips. "Uh-oh."
"What is it?" Sakura asked as she finally caught up to them. The pinkette looked towards the door and also couldn't force the smirk off her beautiful face. "O-la-la, Naru. That's a sexy pose."
Naruto groaned and pushed his head up lightly. "What the hell?" As he opened his eyes he was greeted by a pair of charcoal black eyes glaring at him. Surprise flooded over the blonde as he looked into those eyes. "Sasuke?" He questioned lightly. The two were a mess of limbs. Their legs were entangled together as Naruto laid on top of the older boy with his orange tank top slightly riding up revealing his soft back and sides. The pitch black short shorts he wore made it so the bare skin of his soft legs grazed the youngest Uchiha every time he moved. One of the Uchiha's arms was haphazardly thrown over the blonde's lithe body and grazed the bare tan skin of his lower back. Blue eyes glanced past the Uchiha into the room. "Did you save the bird?" Naruto asked innocently as if he wasn't even aware of their intimate positioning. Kakashi face-palmed himself.
"Get off of me, moron!" Sasuke commanded with a slight blush gracing his pale cheeks as he tried to push the blonde off by his tanned shoulders. When Sasuke's bare palm pushed against the warm tan skin he felt his throat go dry. Those wide blue eyes looked at him with confusion.
"Are you alright, Sasuke? You look like you have a fever." Concern painted itself across the blonde's face. He sat up, still on top of Sasuke, so he was straddling him.
The raven haired male groaned as he attempted to control the fire in his body to gain fuel and become uncontrollable. "Get off of me." Naruto lamely swung his leg over him so he was no longer straddling the older male. He crawled closer to his face and placed a hand over Sasuke's forehead as he began to sit up. The surprise of this action caused Sasuke to jump back and brush the touch aside. "Leave me alone, moron."
Blonde brows furrowed. "What is your problem?" The blonde asked softly.
Kakashi looked at Sakura and gave a slight nod of his head. She agreed silently and the two obscure companions left the blonde and raven alone to themselves.
"What are you talking about, stupid?" Sasuke grumbled as he sat up.
The glare Naruto gave him honestly caught the older male off guard. "You're the stupid one! You've been ignoring me for a week!" Naruto clenched his hands to his side and refused to look the raven in the eyes as he continued. "We are supposed to be friends, Sasuke! Friends don't ignore other friends."
"I-"
"And don't tell me you haven't. I've seen you turn the other direction after you see me coming. I know you hide from me. If you don't want to be my friend then you don't have too!" Naruto exclaimed heatedly.
Sasuke bit the inside of his cheek as he watched the enraged blonde yell at him with anger radiating from his small body. "Naruko-"
"Stop." Naruto interrupted abruptly. "You don't need to explain yourself." Just as Naruto began to stand up and walk out the open door Sasuke grabbed his tanned wrist and pulled him back against him.
Naruto yelped in surprise as he felt Sasuke wrap his arms around his tanned waist.
"Just-" Sasuke's voice shook in confusion as he tightened his grip around the blonde. "Just hate me after I do this…"
"Sasuke?"
The raven buried his face in the crook of Naruto's neck. "Please…" He begged silently. Naruto relaxed in his embrace and slightly leaned his head against Sasuke's. A gentle smile folded itself on the blonde's pink lips. It felt nice; really nice actually.
Sasuke felt his heart clench as Naruto placed his head against his own, but it wasn't a bad kind of tightness. It felt good. The soft tan skin that brushed his own pale skin sent shivers down his spine. 'I don't want to let go', He thought to himself. He opened his eyes and stared at the lit hallway. 'I'm not going to let go.'
