AN: Sorry I've been gone for so long, but I wrote this story years ago. I re-read it today and figured it needed an ending.

Caroline felt something inside her. It was early, five in the morning and Caroline felt doom. She glanced around and shook as she felt unease, she had to try to find Rebekah for Klaus. She had to try to find her because she couldn't stand Rebekah to go through what damaged Caroline so much.

She started at the Sherriff's station and walked into the woods, and something deep inside that Caroline herself couldn't explain showed her the way. She had a small knife stashed in her boot and some matches and had a flashlight in hand as she walked around. Her nose bled from the panic she felt growing inside her. She wiped it away and took a breath continuing with her steps. Her head ached. She needed her mind to reveal all the torture she had faced so she could find her friend.

"It's okay Caroline you got this" she whispered to herself. She tripped on a rock and fell onto her knee and a memory pushed through. Her running through the forest naked crying, blood mingling with sweat. Her tripping on a rock similar to this as she heard the birds sing and her own breath was heavy, so heavy.

Caroline snapped out of the memory and stood slowly brushing herself off. She had been walking for hours now. She felt like she was close, she knew she was. That's when she was hit from behind and she felt everything go dark.

Caroline soon woke up to gentle hands touching her face.

"Caroline?" the panicked voice, Rebekah's voice said. Caroline breathed a sigh of relief. She sat up and hugged her friend. The stench of the room was awful and another girl could be heard crying in the corner, ugly cries filled with pain.

"Who else is here, Elena?" Caroline whispered. Rebekah held onto Caroline and whispered into her ear, "He raped her. The man raped her."

"I'm going to get us out of here, I swear it" Caroline said. Then the door opened and the man sang, "mine. Mine. Mine!" Caroline breathed heavy. He was masking his voice. It was dark and the girls seemed powerless, and he reached for Caroline, throwing her away from Rebekah. He striked Rebekah before she could help Caroline, giving her a swift punch to the face and kick in the ribs.

Rebekah cried out in agony and Elena cowered in the corner. The man laughed and laughed and his laughing stopped as a sharp pain touched his chest. He collapsed and Caroline ran to her friend.

"Come!" She took the matches out, determined to know who it was that had tormented her. If she could see his face she could be satisfied. She lit a piece of fabric in the corner on fire and the room was full of light.

There he was lying on the floor and the girls were in shock. It was unexpected. It couldn't be him. That would mean…

"You sick fuck! You killed and raped your own sister!" Rebekah cried out. Matt coughed out blood and had a bloody smile on his face.

Caroline breathed heavy. It made sense. He must have taken her when he was so much younger, and barely joined the police force. The man who took her with the funny hat, was actually wearing a police hat, the kind they wear when they graduate the academy. The man who raped her constantly and took away her child was her neighbor.

"How could you?!" Caroline screamed. He took everything from her. He looked at her with adoration and said simply "How could I not, you're all mine". That was when Elena Gilbert stopped crying and screamed, running to Matt and grabbing the knife, stabbing him over and over. Caroline in a way knew how she felt. Elena had been through it as well, except her childhood was not stolen like Caroline's was.

The group trudged out of the forest making their way for hours to where the broke through the forest. They cried as they saw the Sherriff station sign and they collapsed in the lobby where their friends and loved ones waited.

It was over.
