BRRRRRRIIIING!
"Finally!" Thought Kisshu. "The last day of exams is over! Now all I need to do is relax and trust that Pai is working on that antidote for me."
Swinging his bag onto his shoulder Kisshu left the school. To save time, Kisshu decided to take a back way home. As he turned a corner, a leg stuck out and tripped him. Unprepared as he was, Kisshu went sprawling onto the hard ground.
"Hey boys look, I've caught a rat!" Yelled a hoarse voice. Looking up, Kisshu groaned inwardly.
"Shiro," he thought grimly. The boy was a kendo player from a rival school who had been beaten once by Kisshu and had sworn revenge for making him look weak in front of his entire school.
Five boys surrounded him, all of them smirking. One bent and picked up Kisshu' book bag from where he had dropped it. Standing, Kisshu said,
"Give me my bag, Shiro."
The goon sniggered stupidly, "Huh, how'd you know it was me?"
Acting bored, Kisshu said snidely, "Two ways: first, I fought and beat you in a kendo match, and second, whenever a group of guys gang up on someone, the leader is usually the biggest, ugliest, and dumbest of them all. You, Shiro, fit perfectly into all of those categories. Now if you don't mind giving me my books back, I have stuff to do."
Shiro shrugged, "Sure, but first let's see what you have in here. Maybe a letter or a picture of your girlfriend! Hmm, what's this?"
Between his thumb and forefinger was a picture of Kisshu, Pai, and Taruto in their alien forms. Pai was standing, arms crossed and face impassive. Taruto was beaming and flashing a peace sign at the photographer. In the middle, his arms wrapped around his adopted brother's shoulders, was Kisshu, clearly laughing, his pointy smile full of mirth and happiness.
Shiro and his friends burst out laughing,
"Geez, what is this of? You and your friends doing cosplay or something? Pffft, you look like a preteen girl!"
Kisshu lunged forward but was caught and held in place by two other boys.
"Damare kisama!" He spat.
"Wow, you sure have a short temper."
Kisshu narrowed his eyes and snarled, "I don't have a short temper, I just have a quick reaction to bullcrap!"
Shiro frowned, "You think you're clever don't you? Well we'll se who's laughing in the end. Ooooh check this out boys!"
To Kisshu's horror, he was that Shiro had his journal.
"Baka!" He thought, "This is going to be awful!"
Opening up to a page, Shiro read aloud,
"Tear stain, tear stain…Today marks a year since I left you, Ichigo. More tear smudges… My heart hurts so much, Koneko-chan! Do you even remember how I helped you or are you putting me from your mind? The pain I feel now is what I deserve after-"
Kisshu gritted his teeth in rage and frustration and struggled to break free. He tightened his grip on the boys holding him. With sudden yells, they let go. Not waiting, Kisshu swung and caught Shiro full in the cheek with an open handed blow. Then his sight vanished. The next thing that Kisshu knew, the bullies were fleeing, howling in agony. It was then that Kisshu's mind cleared. He was breathing heavily and the blood was roaring in his ears as he gazed after them.
Feeling something warm on his hands, Kisshu looked down and gasped: blood was dripping from the tips of his fingers! No…not his fingers…
"I-I have cat claws!" Yelled Kisshu, holding his hand up and staring in a mixture of disgust and fascination as he realized that the blood was from the bullies, not him. Horrified, Kisshu relaxed his fingers and the claws retracted. Shaken, he washed his hands in the water from a nearby water spigot and then gathered his photo and journal.
"Of all the entries he had to read!" Muttered Kisshu angrily. He remembered that night vividly. He was so tired of not seeing Ichigo and being considered a hero that was unapproachable by all his old friends that he had attempted to end it all. He'd written the entry with the blood flowing from his wrists. If Pai hadn't found him in time, Kisshu would have died that night.
As he was passing the park, Kisshu heard shrieks coming from the center of it followed by a shout of:
"Mew Mew Strawberry, Metaporphosis!" Reached his ears.
Instinct told Kisshu to leave and that using his new powers would only make them more permanent. But then Zakuro's voice rang out over the trees.
"Fall back! This one is too powerful!"
"Kisshu swore softly, "Grrr… Mew Mew Quiche, Metamorphosis!"
He started running, feeling the transformation as his clothes changed and the green cloak billowed from his shoulders, it's hood casting his face in shadow. The archer styled armguard flickered into being, the silver power amulet gleaming on the back of his hand.
Mint screamed as the spiked tail of the lizard Chimera Animal descended towards where she had fallen.
"Oh no you don't!" Cried Ichigo, knocking Mint aside and falling directly in the path of the coming attack. A flash of silver and green shot in front of her, neatly slicing off the tip of the tail, which dissolved before it even hit the ground.
"M-Mew Thorn!" Gasped Ichigo.
"Go, Mew Ichigo, attack while it is distracted," commanded Kisshu.
As the Mews attacked, the monster dissolved in pink light. Dark Dawn's voice rang out furiously,
"You again? Well I'll make sure you pay for the pain you caused me. Take this!"
Turning, Kisshu was barely able to defend himself and suddenly was disarmed. Dark Dawn lunged at him and Kisshu, on instinct, unsheathed his claws and slashed the alien girl across the eyes. Wailing in agony, Dark Dawn fled.
Falling back, Kisshu's hood slipped off and he rolled a few feet, his side scraping the pavement painfully. Slowly he pushed himself to his hands and knees, his head down and white hair hanging into his eyes.
"Wait a minute," Kisshu thought. "White hair?"
Jumping up, he walked to the fountain and gaped at the reflection staring back at him. His face was normal aside from his silver eyes (the result of his Mew transformation), but his hair had grown several inches longer and was now pure white. It hung into his face, shielding his appearance from view.
"Impossible…" Kisshu whispered, his claws rasping against the stone rim of the fountain as he tightened his grip on the edge.
Suddenly conscious of the eyes of the other Mews on him, Kisshu pulled up his hood, turned to face them, and sheathed his blade saying,
"Later."
"Um, thanks for saving me," said Ichigo shyly.
Glancing at her, Kisshu said, "You don't need to thank me. Until our next battle then."
"Pai, you have to help me! I think I surpassed Ichigo in regards to weirdness!" Kisshu cried into the phone back at his apartment.
Pai's bored voice replied, "And you expect me to be surprised by this revelation?"
"You know what I meant! Be serious! I have cat claws and my hair grew longer and turned white all in one transformation. What the heck is going on?"
"Hmm," Pai mused. "It is possible that the pill you took enhanced the cat DNA in your body and is responsible for these attributes. Can you return to normal?"
Kisshu ran his fingers through his hair and looked into a mirror as he replied,
"Yes, it's getting shorter and slowly turning green again."
"Good. Here's hoping this was a one off and that it will not happen again. Now if you will excuse me…" The line went dead.
Kisshu sighed with exasperation and muttered,
"Why does life hate me?"
A cold hand clasped his shoulder and a voice whispered,
"Hello Kisshu, why the long face?"
Who is this person? No, it is not an obsessed fangirl/stalker! :\ Also, sorry about the journal if you think Kisshu now looks weak. I did it mainly to give him a reason to attack the bullies. Also, the cover picture is supposed to be human Kisshu but his hair is supposed to be darker. Well I should be posting another one very soon so keep on the look out!
