The OC's in this came from Adventures in Parenthood: A Collection of Oneshots by kittycat69, and I would like to say they are not mine at all. She made them up, and I thank her most sincerely for the loan of them. I know that not everyone likes songfics, but as soon as I heard of her two OC's, I knew I had to do this songfic with them.
I don't own the song (Taylor Swift, Mary's Song) or Covert Affairs.
She said, I was seven and you were nine
I looked at you like the stars that shined
In the sky, the pretty lights
And our daddies used to joke about the two of us
Growing up and falling in love and our mamas smiled
And rolled their eyes and said oh my my my
Annie and Auggie Anderson had brought their two children, Catie and Ally, to DPD functions their whole lives. Their co-workers, Jai and Reva, had brought their only child Ari along after he and Ally were born. As the two grew up, they had always been best friends. The animosity between Jai and Auggie long forgotten, they had joked about what it would be like if they fell in love. And Annie and Reva had just smiled.
Take me back to the house in the backyard tree
Said you'd beat me up, you were bigger than me
You never did, you never did
Take me back when our world was one block wide
I dared you to kiss me and ran when you tried
Just two kids, you and I...
Oh my my my my
Even living in DC, the Wilcox's had managed to afford a house with a backyard big enough for a treehouse. Ally and Ari had always argued, competed, despite their fast friendship. Dares and threats were commonplace, but rarely followed through. They were just two kids, after all.
Well, I was sixteen when suddenly
I wasn't that little girl you used to see
But your eyes still shined like pretty lights
And our daddies used to joke about the two of us
They never believed we'd really fall in love
And our mamas smiled and rolled their eyes
And said oh my my my...
When Ally turned sixteen, things had begun to change. She was no longer the little girl Ari had always seen. She was a stunningly beautiful young woman. And he had grown up too. But his eyes still shone with love, of a sort, when he looked at her. And Auggie and Jai were astonished to find their children really in love. Annie and Reva just smiled, they'd seen it all along.
Take me back to the creek beds we turned up
Two A.M. riding in your truck and all I need is you next to me
Take me back to the time we had our very first fight
The slamming of doors instead of kissing goodnight
You stayed outside till the morning light
Oh my my my my
They had always gotten into trouble, turning over rocks and stones. Later it was different, staying out too late, fighting, kissing goodnight, and the time Ari had waited all night just to apologize.
A few years had gone and come around
We were sitting at our favorite spot in town
And you looked at me, got down on one knee
After college, the pair were sitting in their favorite cafe, when Ari got down on one knee, and asked his childhood friend and grown up sweetheart to marry him.
Take me back to the time when we walked down the aisle
Our whole town came and our mamas cried
You said I do and I did too
Take me home where we met so many years before
We'll rock our babies on that very front porch
After all this time, you and I
And when she walked down the aisle, Ally was beautiful, even if Auggie couldn't see his daughter. All of Annie and Auggie and Reva and Jai's co-workers came. So did all of their neighborhoods. And they said I do. But Ally remembered the first day she consciously realized who Ari was: her best friend. They would take their kids to DPD functions, and nothing would change.
I'll be eighty-seven; you'll be eighty-nine
I'll still look at you like the stars that shine
They would grow old together, but one thing was everlasting: their love.
I hope you liked it...I did this a bit rushed because I won't have anything new for y'all for quite a while I think. PLEASE review!
