Here's chapter 11. Thanks everyone for the support I'm getting for this story and series…it really means a lot to me.

I only own Gaby.

Chapter 11

"Gaby…I need you…I couldn't…I couldn't find you. Where are you?" Derek said in a weak voice.

Gaby clutched the phone tighter "I'm about two hours outside Beacon Hills."

"W…why?"

"Scott was dying and he needed me…and I had to stop Isaac from kicking the crap outta Ethan in front of the entire cross country team."

"I need you."

Gaby sniffled "Okay, I'll be there in an hour maybe less. There aren't that many cops here and I have the Camaro…I'll be there baby just hold on."

"Gaby?" Ms. Blake said again.

"Do you know where you're taking him?"

"His loft I think."

"Ms. Blake…I need to know for sure. He says he needs me I need to get there as soon as I possibly can."

"His loft."

"Okay I'll meet you there in about an hour," Gaby said before hanging up and speeding back towards Beacon Hills.

Gaby parked the Camaro outside Derek's loft and ran inside. "This was not how I imagined our first date to be," she froze as the teacher's words echoed around her.

At first all Gaby felt was possessiveness over Derek, but then she stopped and thought more about it maybe this teacher was a better fit for Derek than her. Shaking her head Gaby walked into the room and took in the scene in front of her Ms. Blake was kneeling on the ground and Derek was lying shirtless on the bed. The blonde felt her heart shatter instantly thinking the worst.

Derek stirred on the bed as Gaby's scent filled the air. He turned his head and looked at his mate standing in the doorway. A mix of emotions flowed between the two, relief, happiness, anger, jealousy, and sadness. "Oh Gaby…" Ms. Blake said noticing the blonde for the first time "I didn't hear you come in."

Gaby broke her eye contact with Derek and turned to look at the teacher "Yeah the door…the door was open."

"Uh…do you know where the first aid kit is?"

"Under the bed."

The teacher nodded and quickly reached under the bed her eyes widened at the first thing she pulled out, a box of condoms. She looked at the blonde who was bright red at the sight of her teacher finding an almost empty box of condoms. "Uh…that's not the first aid kit," Ms. Blake laughed trying to lighten the tension. She quickly pulled out the kit and opened it.

Gaby watched as the teacher attempted to clean his wounds, but Derek kept moving away. "I…I'm just gonna go," Gaby whispered moving back towards the door "I'm glad you're okay Derek."

"No you should stay, I'll go," Ms. Blake said standing up.

"Wait…don't go…" Derek said weakly.

Both girls looked at him. "Who are you talking to?" the teacher asked looking at the blonde girl who was staring at the floor.

Gaby bit her lip and looked at the ground fearing the answer he was about to give. "G…Ga…Gaby," Derek whispered.

The blonde shot her head up and looked at the injured alpha. She bit back the smile that was trying to grace her face, but the fact that Derek wanted her to stay was enough to force it out. Ignoring the teacher Gaby walked over to Derek. She slowly cleaned the wounds. The blonde could feel Derek's intense gaze on her. Gaby cleared her throat and continued cleaning the soon to be infected wounds.

Jennifer watched the two closely. She saw when Derek tensed from the pain of the alcohol all Gaby had to do was gently touch his arm and he melted. Ms. Blake knew at that moment she would never stand a chance against Gaby. Even when Derek came to her when he was injured all he did was ask for Gaby and had her call the blonde.

Gaby reached for the suture kit and instantly began to stitch up his wounds. She knew he wouldn't be able to heal on his own. The blonde heard movement on her left side causing her gaze to snap away from the stiches to the teacher backing out of the room. Ms. Blake's eyes landed on Gaby and for a split second, hatred flashed across the young teacher's eyes and the blonde felt nothing but hate and jealousy. She turned her head back to her injured mate ignoring the teacher as she left the loft.

After she finished stitching Derek up Gaby noticed he had passed out. She let out a sigh of relief when the sound of his heart beating filled her ears. The blonde moved over to the table and sat on it staring out the window until Derek woke up.

The sound of Derek shifting on the bed and groaning as he sat up caused the blonde to break away from her thoughts. Wiping her tears she moved to his side. "That's not a good idea," Gaby said trying to keep him from standing "You could rip the stitches."

"I have to find the others," he told her "They think I'm dead."

"Let's get through the night first, okay?"

She watched as every movement caused him pain. He was suffering and there was nothing she could do to help him. "They need to know," Derek said looking at her.

He took in her appearance. Gaby's eyes no longer held that sparkle that was reserved whenever he came into her line of view. Instead they were shining with tears just waiting to fall. Her blonde hair was limp and thrown carelessly into a messy ponytail. She had on no makeup and dark circles were present under her eyes. "Do you have any idea how bad you look?" Gaby told him "If it wasn't for my stitches you'd be like one giant open wound. And to be completely honest I'm pretty sure I'm dreaming this entire thing up and when I wake up…" she swallowed desperate to keep tears from falling "…you'll still be dead. And I'll be alone."

She felt him grab her hand and pull her towards him. Derek placed her hand over his heart and looked into her glassy eyes "Do you feel this?" Gaby nodded her head after feeling his heartbeat under the palm of her hands. "That's real, Gaby. All of this…is real. I'm right here in front of you and I have no intentions on leaving you any time soon."

"You died," Gaby sobbed, "I've never felt more alone, more…empty."

Derek pulled the blonde onto his lap desperate to have her closer. "I thought it would be better…if you stayed away from me."

"Why would you ever think that?"

"Because everyone around me gets hurt…"

Gaby pulled his chin so he looked directly into her eyes "I've been hurt before Der."

"Not like this."

The blonde lightly kissed him before pulling away and looking into his eyes "Derek…I would rather die the worst possible death imaginable a thousand times over then have to live one more second apart from you. Because trust me when I say that dying is much less painful then being away from you."

Derek leaned down and captured her lips with his own. Gaby responded back instantly and ran her hands through his black hair. She felt his hands slide underneath her shirt and slowly peel it off. The blonde moved her position so she straddled his hips and pushed him down onto the bed gently. They reattached their lips instantly. Derek was quick to flip her onto the mattress and hover over her.

He noticed something he hadn't seen before. Around her neck was a silver triskele necklace. He flipped the necklace around reading the inscription on the back "What are you doing?" Gaby whispered running her hands through his hair.

"Gabriella and Derek Hale…"

Gaby gently kissed his jaw "Has a nice ring to it doesn't it?"

Derek smiled and looked at her watching her electric blue eyes light up when he looked at her "It certainly does."

Gaby let out a giggle as Derek pulled her closer. He lightly kissed the tip of her nose as his arms tightened around her bare back. "Did Cora tell you what those are?" Derek asked nodded towards her necklace.

Gaby shook her head "No."

"It's something only the women in my family get, either after their first transformation or they marry into the family."

"So what about those who aren't werewolves?"

"I believe they get it on their sixteenth birthday, but it's usually smaller."

"What about the men?"

"We get the symbol in a ring usually."

"When do you get them?"

"Sixteenth birthday or after your first transformation."

"So why don't you wear yours?"

"It doesn't fit anymore."

"That can be resized."

He shrugged "Maybe in the future…your necklace is actually the same size as Cora's, except you have jewels on yours."

"That's not normal?"

Derek shook his head "The only other one I saw with jewels on it was the Alpha's. It was the only necklace allowed to be passed down to the next Alpha."

"So why does mine have gems?"

"Because you're special...a human mate."

Derek nuzzled her neck before peppering with kisses. He nipped her pulse point causing the blonde to gasp. She moved her head and captured his lips with hers. His hand ran down her side. Gaby's ringtone blared through the silent room. Sighing the blonde pulled away and grabbed her ringing phone. "What the hell do they want?" Gaby sighed.

Derek kissed her shoulder "Ignore it."

"I can't…if it's stupid I'll hang up. Hi Stiles, what's up?"

"Gabs?" Stiles asked slightly panicky.

"Yeah."

"There's something wrong…"

The blonde sat up keeping the sheets covering her, "What do you mean there's something wrong?"

"This hotel that we're at for some reason has a pull on werewolves, and they're all trying to kill themselves."

"Is everyone okay?"

"Everyone but Scott…I'm looking at him right now. He's drenched in gasoline and is holding a flare."

"Oh my god!"

"I'm putting you on speaker, maybe you can help."

"How? I'm in Beacon Hills!"

"You can control people's emotions try controlling his."

"I…Stiles I don't…I don't know how to do that or how to even control it!"

"Please try."

The blonde closed her eyes and took a few deep breaths before opening them up revealing her bright red eyes. She couldn't feel much, all she felt was hopelessness and sadness. "There's no hope," Scott's voice echoed through the loft. The blonde hadn't even realized Derek put the phone on speaker.

"What do you mean, Scott?" Allison asked "There's always hope."

"Not for me. Not for Derek."

"Scott…" Gaby said trying to keep her voice from breaking "Derek's fine…he's alive it's okay."

"See?" Allison said "Everything's fine."

"Every time I try to fight back, it just gets worse," Scott told her "People keep getting hurt. People keep getting killed."

"Scott, listen to me, okay?" Stiles started "This isn't you, all right? This is someone inside your head telling you to do this. Okay? Now…"

"What if it isn't? What if it is just me? What if doing this actually the best thing that I could do for everyone else?"

Gaby shook her head as she started crying, "No…no Scott how could this be the best thing when you're not here?

"It all started that night, the night I got bitten," Scott ignored the blonde. "Stiles …you remember the way it was before that? We were…we were nothing. We weren't popular. We weren't good at lacrosse. We weren't important. The only thing we were was friends with a cheerleader. No one knew who we were no one cared!"

"Scott…"

"I never understood why you stayed friends with us Gaby. You were too pretty, too smart, too perfect to be with people like us."

"That's not true!"

"But I think I understand now…we were your charity case. You stayed friends with us because it made you look good."

"NO! Scott I stayed friends with you and Stiles because you two are family. You were with me during my highest points, and you stayed with me during my lowest. I don't know where I'd be without either of you."

"I'm dragging you down…maybe I should just be no one again. No one at all."

"Scott just listen to me, okay?" Stiles said "You're not no one. Okay? You're someone, you're…Scott, you and Gaby….you both are my best friends. Okay? And Gaby and I we need you. Scott, you're my brother. All right, so…So if you're gonna do this, then I think you're gonna have to take me with you."

"Stiles!" Gaby called out.

"Try Gaby," Stiles told her.

Taking a deep breath Gaby focused on Scott's emotions. She felt despair and worthlessness fill her and began to think of all the happy memories the three of them had. It consumed her and filled her with warmth. The blonde opened her eyes as they glowed an intense red. The last thing Gaby heard before falling unconscious was Lydia screaming "NO!"

Gaby gasped as she sat up. She looked around the loft and relaxed as Derek's sleeping form came into view. The blonde grabbed her phone and checked her messages wanting to know what happened. She saw Derek had typed a message saying that she had over exerted herself and passed out, but she was fine. Stiles responded that everyone else was okay and that the flare flew into the gasoline, but no one was hurt.

Gaby got out of the bed and headed towards the bathroom. She looked at her reflection in the mirror. Her skin no longer looked pale and sickly in fact it had a glow to it. Her eyes had that sparkle again all because Derek was back. She adjusted Derek's T-shirt and looked back at her reflection. A cut appeared on her cheek and blood slowly dripped from the wound that wasn't healing. "It's your fault you know," a little girl's voice said from behind her.

Gaby let out a shriek of surprise as she quickly spun around. The little girl in front of her had her blonde hair in a ponytail with a cheer bow in it, the uniform she was wearing was for a pop warner cheer team, and she had the same cut on her cheek that Gaby had. "Who…who are you? How did you get here?" Gaby asked her wearily.

"You're the reason they're dead," the little girl told her.

"I…I don't understand…who's dead?"

"Our parents. They died because of you…"

Gaby shook her head now recognizing the little girl…it was her when she was ten. "No…no Kate killed them…not me."

"But they wouldn't have died if you never existed…you shouldn't even be alive now."

A blonde woman and a brunette man appeared behind the little girl. "She's right, Gaby, you know she is. You should be dead not your mother or me," the brunette man told her.

"Dad…how can you say that…I…I'm needed here. Derek needs me," Gaby said with tears pouring down her face.

"No he doesn't," her mother told her "No one needs you Gaby…Scott and Stiles have replaced you with Allison and Lydia. Lydia replaced you with Allison. Derek can replace you with Ms. Blake…you're not needed."

Gaby fell to her knees. "Come with us," her father held out his hand revealing a shard of glass. "You aren't needed here…you're not important." The blonde shakily grabbed the piece of glass that reeked of wolfsbane and held it in her hand.

Derek sat straight up when he heard glass breaking. He looked over at Gaby only to see that she wasn't there. When he smelled blood he shot out of bed towards the bathroom. "Gaby!" he shouted trying to open the door, but it was locked. "Gaby, open the door!" Derek started pounding on the door. When he didn't get a response, Derek gathered all his strength and broke down the door.

He saw Gaby sitting on the floor with a shard of glass in her shaking hand. Her blue eyes never moved from the piece of glass and the bloody hand holding it. Derek looked at the mirror and noticed it broken. He smelled the wolfsbane before he saw it dripping from the shard. "What are doing?" Derek asked her taking a step near her.

The blonde shook her head "I'm not important…"

"What? What are you talking about?"

"I shouldn't even be alive. My parents…they died because of me. Everything that's happened is my fault."

Derek shook his head "No Gaby…nothing's your fault."

"But it is…My parents died because I was in the car with them, because I was born. Scott…he got bit because I was with him. You…you almost died because of what Ennis did to me. If I wasn't here none of that would have happened. Everyone would be alive and be happy."

Derek kneeled in front of her "I wouldn't be…Gaby if you weren't here…I would never be happy."

Gaby shook her head "You could have her…"

"Her?"

"Ms. Blake…why wouldn't you want her? I mean she's beautiful, smart, a little weird but you can get over that, and she likes to help people."

"No…Gaby she would never be enough for me."

"Why not?"

"She's not you." Gaby finally looked up at him with wide blue eyes. Derek gently cupped her face "Baby, she will never be anywhere close to you."

"R…really?"

He nodded "No one will ever be able to replace you." Her grip loosened on the shard of glass and Derek gently pried it out of her hand. Tears fell down her face, but he was quick to wipe them away. "Do you really blame yourself for your parents?"

Gaby nodded "I've always blamed myself, deep down I knew it had something to do with me, but…I never really knew. That is until six months ago. The guilt has just been eating me alive. I know that technically…it wasn't my fault…it was Kate's fault, but that doesn't make me feel better."

Derek snorted out a small chuckle and sat next to her "You know I've always wondered why I ended up with you as a mate. What could I possibly have done right to end up with someone like you? With everything that's happened in my life…with everything I've done I don't deserve someone like you. Then I get a glimpse inside your head…and I see that you're just as messed up as I am." Gaby let out a laugh at his words. "And I think that's why we're together. I need someone like you, someone so strong yet extremely kind to balance me out and you need someone who understands what it's like to feel guilt over something outside your control, someone who can piece you back together again. Not just on the outside, but on the inside as well. Just like you've done with me."

"I've never told anyone that…no one but you knows I blame myself for my parents' deaths."

"I'm gonna tell you the same thing you told me…well close to it at least. No one blames you for your parents' deaths. You can't help what you are and it's not your fault at all."

"Thank you," she sniffled.

Derek lightly kissed her temple "Now let's get you back to bed."

Gaby nodded and allowed him to pick her up bridal style. She turned her head to face the mirror and let out a surprised gasp. In the mirror was a reflection of a bald slashed up face. "What?" Derek asked stopping.

The blonde looked at Derek before looking back at the mirror and noticed there was no reflection "I thought I saw something…must be my imagination."

"You sure?"

"Yeah, let's just go back to bed…I'm exhausted."

Derek nodded and walked towards their bed. He gently set the already fast asleep blonde down and quickly got onto his side. She snuggled closer to him as he put his arms around her. For the moment everything was perfect just the two of them lying together wrapped in a tight embrace. For just a moment the two could pretend there was no one else in the world but them, and they could face reality tomorrow.

I try not to steal scenes from other characters because it can mess up the time line, but I did this one for a reason.
