Hello again my lovelies! Its been a while huh? Sorry for the delay, but college life amirite? I would like to also apologize for the delay in respondong to reviews! I plan to do so by the end of the day (I would do them all now but we're about to go out to dinner for my brother's birthday and I'm rushing to post this before we leave as it is.) I love and apreciate all of you, though I'd like to give a special thanks to MissMisfitLovesOHSHC and lizyeh2000 for their reviews, genuinely, seeing those pop up in my inbox means the world as do everyone's reviews, but they did give me that little push to get this done, and just in time for Fruits Basket 2019's official premiere today! I worked on this almost exclusively at work on my breaks since that was all the spare time I had but I got it done and thats all that matters!

So with that, happy premiere day everyone! I'd also like to welcome any new readers as well as anyone new to the series who's coming into it from the reboot!

That being said I feel I should say this now. Obviously there are changes in the reboot, but from what I saw of the first two episodes last week, there are a lot of good changes, the tone may be a bit different than the origional but thats fine. I will continue my plan of usong elements from the origional run of the anime as well as the manga, but, if I see something cool or different from the reboot I may draw that into Clarity as well.

One last announcement, I created a discord for Clarity! I'm not sure how many of you use Discord or would be interested, but if you do feel free to join! Its mainly just a place for everyone to hang out, for me to make announcements about the story and future contests. Most of the channels on the server are for general things, and the server is not for strictly Clarity or Fruits Basket, its just for fun. There are channels for general discussion, talking about books manga fanfiction, anime movies, videogames and finding people to play with, sharing art you're proud of, memes, and a channel for suggestions, weather it be relates to the server or to Clarity or anything else I've written.

If you're interested the instant invite code is rVseHC7.

Now with out further adieu, here's chapter Ten, enjoy!

"Excuse me, miss?"

I pause, one hand on the shelf in front of me as I glance over my shoulder to where the voice had come from, craning my neck a bit as my eyes trail up toward the face of a smartly dressed woman with uncertainty flickering in her gaze.

I feel a twinge of empathy for her as she stands, a lock of her hair being twirled around between her fingers as she shifts a bit apprehensively in place.

"How can I help you?" I ask, giving her a small reassuring smile as I pull myself up from where I'd been crouched to stock one of the lower shelves, brushing imaginary dirt onto the front of the thin black apron that made up my uniform.

"Well, I'm a bit overwhelmed to be honest," She admits, settling for crossing her arms around herself as she lets her carbon locks fall back to her shoulder. "I came in here to look for a gift for my daughter actually, her birthday is coming up and she's very interested in drawing but I don't know a thing about what kind of supplies she would like. Theres just so many different options that I'm at a loss,"

"I see," I reply, keeping a smile in place, "It shouldn't be too hard to find something your daughter will like. You said she likes to draw? Is it mainly in black and white or does she tend to add color to them?"

At my reassurance the woman seems to relax a bit more, beginning to tell me more about her daughter's art as she digs around in her purse for her phone to show me some pictures of the sketches she had saved on it.

I can't help but feel touched at how proud she is to show me some of them, glad that she was so supportive of what her daughter loved to do and how she seemed to really see the value in it whereas most people took it for granted.

She reminded me of my own parents in that way.

We spent a good amount of time looking through various supplies and different brands. I helped her weigh the pros and cons of certain ones and the benefits some of the more cost effective ones had over the high end ones.

In the end she walked away with a small bag of charcoals, brushes, and watercolor pencils, having remembered her daughter's interest in trying out different mediums, throwing a grateful smile my was as well as her thanks as she goes to leave.

"Oi, what's with that ridiculous look on yer face?"

The sudden introduction of a new voice from nearby startles me and I jump a bit, my hands leaving the till from where I'd been recounting the money.

It takes me only a moment to register who the raspy feminine voice belonged to before I glance over my shoulder to meet the green eyed gaze of one of my other coworkers.

She was only maybe an inch or two shorter than me, with long, deep red hair that fell over her shoulders in waves but for on the left side. She had her hair done into many small braids close to her scalp to resemble something similar to a side shave on the left. Her eyes were a much mossier green than mine were, and under them was a smattering of freckles that crossed the bridge of her nose as well, a few straying further toward the edges of her heart shaped face.

The expression she wore currently was one of muted disdain that by now I'd come to realize was her neutral expression, or at least I had never seen her look any different in the time since I'd started working here.

"What 'ridiculous look'?" I ask, leaning against the counter as I turn to face her, closing the till as I do so.

"Ah sorry, s'just yer face I 'uppose," She corrects with a wicked grin, its just barely there but I'm able to catch it.

"Wow... thats just rude Kenz'," I mutter, pushing off the counter as I undo my apron, balling it up and tossing it lightly at her chest as I walk by. "Since you're here I'm gonna go ahead and take my lunch. Kaythanksbye,"

"Ah goan' bolt, yeh fannybaws,"

"Was that even English there Kenna?" I ask, an amused chuckle escaping me as I lean half out of the hall leading to the break room to address her.

"Fuck off, howzat fer English?" She bites out.

With another quiet bought of laughter I continue walking, sticking my arm out to flip her the bird before fully disappearing around the corner.

"Wee barra," I hear her mutter to herself just before she's out of earshot.

"Sup, Casper? Makenna giving you trouble again?" A sprightly voice asks as I enter the room.

I glance up to spot Ryo sitting alone at the single rounded table in the break room, phone in hand though with his attention on me, sending a teasing smile my way.

"Are you ever gonna stop calling me that?" I mutter with a mock sigh, rolling my eyes as I take a seat next to him.

Ever since our initial meeting, and subsequent first shifts together in which I'd mostly unintentionally avoided him by finding something to do in a completely different area of the shop, he'd labeled me with the nickname seeing as I always seemed to disappear whenever he or Makenna were around. I'd long since grown used to at least being around them, seeing as it'd been over a week now since I started and given their personalities it was a challenge not to just get over it and engage with them.

"Nope, you're always gonna be our friendly little ghost, even if you decide not to disappear on us as much anymore," He retorts, giving a saccharine grin at my unamused look until I finally crumble and give a reluctant grin back.

"You're insufferable," I mutter, leaning an elbow on the table and resting my cheek in my palm.

I get a couple laughs from that before he looks back down to his phone. "You never answered my question though Cass,"

"Hmm?" I ask drowsily, I'm unsure if the sudden lethargy is from an actual need for sleep or simply boredom.

"About Makenna, remember? Sounded like you two were really going at it out there," He elaborates. "I mean, I'm not really sure what you were saying exactly but it sounded heated,"

I can't help the soft huff at his questioning which only pulls a small frown from the older boy which quickly turns into a pout as I side eye him.

"No, Kenz' n' I are good, thats just how we communicate, through insults and obscene gestures," I reply with a laugh.

Being as Makenna and I both shared in English being our first language we often spoke to each other exclusively in it. Though since she was Scottish-Japanese it sometimes took a bit more effort to understand what it is she was trying to say, especially when she got really worked up. In moments like those she would usually have to explain again in Japanese since we were both fluent. It was still nice to have another English speaker around though, it was also pretty funny whenever Ryo would try to pop into our conversation with what little of the language he knew and then pout about it when he couldn't keep up.

Ryo makes an exaggerated dissatisfied noise that draws me out of my thoughts, a similar pout on his face to the one I'd been remembering as he leans his chin heavily into an upturned palm.

"I think Kenna's becoming a bad influence on you... You used to be so sweet and innocent and now look what's become of you," He mumbles over dramatically.

I nearly forget how to breathe and end up taking in too much air, choking a bit with intermittent laughter as I give my coworker an incredulous look.

"You talk as if you're mourning the loss of your childhood friend," I address the older teen with a bemused smirk. "You're wrong anyway, I am not so easily influenced. Kenna and I just have a similar sense of humor, I only happen to have a lot more patience with people than she does,"

"So you're saying the nice act is just a front to hide your true darker nature?" He gasps, scandalized.

I'm unable to answer for a moment through my laughter. "Ryo," I start off, sincerity coloring my tone. "You're an idiot,"

I give him a genuine smile rather than a smirk this time and he smiles back, thankfully sensing the affectionate teasing in my words and not taking offense.

"That's right, but you're stuck with me," He counters, grinning like a fool.

"Oh no, what a drag," I mutter, forcing an unconvincing look of distaste onto my features before glancing back his way and matching his grin with my own smaller one.

How did I manage to end up working with such a bunch of weirdos?

Guess I'm just lucky.

VV

"They're back again," I hear Ryo comment from the front of the shop.

"Idiot, stop fussing over the birds. Just leave 'em be, not like they're hurtin' anyone," Makenna chides from her place leaned up against the front of the counter, sketching idly on one of the notepads she'd swiped from below the register.

"They're just so... creepy. Especially with this fog," He continues, ignoring the younger girl's directive.

"You're ridiculous," I remark with a laugh as I cash out my till.

"Oh come on, they're like omens of death or something right?" He counters, moving away from the window to lean up against the counter next to Makenna so that his voice still carries to me as I walk a short ways down the hall to lock back my till and clock out.

"Some people may think that, but they're really just a bunch of feathered troublemakers who are too smart for their own good," I reply with a hint of affection, grabbing my umbrella before rejoining our little group to find Asami has just come in.

"Casper. They're bad omens,"

"Since when are you so superstitious?" I ask with amusement.

"Aww, is poor Ryo fussing over our feathered friends again?" Asami teases, flashing me a knowing grin.

"Aw, lay off Asami," He mumbles, shoving his hands into his coat pockets.

I barely manage to stifle my laughter at the two before I glance over to Makenna, somewhat impressed at her outward show of seeming unbothered by the rest of her coworker's antics. The only tell being the increased pressure of her grip on the charcoal pencil in her hands and the thick harsh lines it was leaving behind as she drew it across the page.

"Alright well, now that you're here me n' Casper are gonna go before you can get any more jabs in," I hear Ryo state from where he stood just a bit closer to the door than I was.

"Are you sure you can't give her another minute or two? I'd like to see what else she can come up with," I tease, sending a grin the older woman's way to match the mirthful one still gracing her features as I take a few steps backwards toward my perturbed coworker.

"See, I knew I made a good decision hiring you kid," She snarks, though I can see in her eyes that she really does mean it which softens my mischievous grin into a genuine smile before I turn fully to face Ryo's retreating form.

"I hate you both," He grumbles as he pushes open the heavy door, holding it open for me despite the sentiment.

A small chuckle escapes me as I pause to raise my hand to the two remaining in the shop in a lazy wave, throwing a smile and quiet goodbye their way as I step past Ryo, my grin toward him only souring his look more before reluctantly it falls back into his usual easy grin with a shake of his head.

Whatever smart comment Asami throws our way is cut off as he lets the door close definitively behind him, blocking us off from the warm cosiness that the shop exuded.

"You sure you don't want me to walk you home?" He asks as I loop the strap of my umbrella over my wrist. "The fog is pretty bad today,"

"Thanks for offering, I'll be fine though," I reply back, tipping my head the slightest bit up to my right at the sudden distortion of sound from above, three quick beats in succession, displacing the air behind me before with a careful grace a sudden weight settles on my shoulder. "I have my escort right here,"

Cerin ruffles his feathers from his new perch before he tilts he head slightly and gives a rather loud caw at Ryo, leaning forward as he does so and seeming, for all I can tell, immensely pleased when the teen jumps back in alarm, throwing his arms up as if to protect his face before suddenly wheeling them out to his sides to keep from losing his balance and landing on the damp concrete beneath him.

All of this happens in a matter of seconds and it takes all I have to contain my laughter, the only hint at my amusement being the small grin tugging at the corners of my lips.

Well, seems someone's unusually brave today.

I slowly raise a hand up to stroke Cerin's feathers affectionately, being careful to let him see my hand coming before I do so. I was still a bit cautious about spooking him, he'd only just gotten comfortable enough to decide he wanted to use me as his personal traveling perch, I was surprised enough he'd done so with another person so near to me.

The bird however showed no signs of wariness and instead pushed his head into the palm of my hand, nuzzling it almost like a cat would and drawing a few chuckles from me at the strange bird's antics.

I glance back to Ryo to see him somewhat recovered but now with a strange mixture of fear and repulsion on his face as he glared at the bird. I had to look away before I started laughing again.

"Cerin, that wasn't very nice," I murmur to the bird in almost a coo as I lightly scratch at the small downy feathers below his chin.

"You- you named that demon?" Ryo asks incredulously.

"Aww be nice scaredy cat, he's a sweetheart," I reply, looking away for a moment as I can feel the gaze of Asami and Makenna from the shop window, finding them both looking quite amused, though Asami was still seemingly partially doubled over in laughter, wiping tears from her eyes, a hand weakly held in front of her pointing in Ryo's general direction.

He follows my gaze before a grimace takes over his face, glaring daggers at the pair before looking back to me and the crow still perched on my shoulder staring intently at him.

I take note of the slight shudder as his eyes glance over the bird before he looks back to me, seeming at a loss.

Just as he goes to speak another harsh caw like a bark of laughter cuts the silence and I glance up toward the sign of another shop just behind him, spotting the rest of my little flock.

I roll my eyes a bit at the pair's seeming impatience as the second throws in their two cents as well.

Not long after Cerin decided he was fully comfortable with me the other two dared to venture closer, not as much as their younger charge but it was a big improvement. I'd also finally been able to see the difference in eye color between them more clearly. The larger of the pair had strange sliver/blue eyes, and the smaller, which I'd assumed given the size difference to be female, had striking amber colored eyes.

I'd also finally decided on what to call them in that time, the amber eyed one I had named Huginn, and the blue eyed one was Muninn, after Odin's ravens in Norse mythology, the former meaning Thought, and the later Memory or Mind.

Huginn, Muninn, and Cerin. My small little flock.

"Ya know Casper, I'm kinda thinking maybe my comment earlier about you hiding some sort of dark side might be more valid now given that those harbingers of death seem to like you so much," Ryo finally manages, still seeming a bit spooked but with an undertone of humor that drew a huff of laughter from me.

"Well if we're bring up things from our water cooler conversations earlier, Ryo, you're still an idiot," I quip with a bright smile his way.

His answering glare is weak, disappearing pretty quickly as he rolls his eyes at me. "You're still stuck with me," He echos his previous words back to me with a grin.

VV

Cerin, lazy thing he was becoming, still had yet to leave my shoulder since his encounter with Ryo. He seemed perfectly content to remain perched on me as he sporadically bobbed his head to my singing 'Shallow' to myself over the track echoing in my ears.

The streets were pretty empty, more than likely due to the fog so I had no qualms about harmonizing softly along with Gaga and Bradley.

I could hardly see my own hand in front of my face so I was confident no one present would even be able to tell where the singing was coming from anyway.

The downside to that though had been the lack of visibility combined with my inherent clumsiness.

Cerin at least seemed to have a bit more spacial awareness at the moment than I did though and had already saved me twice from a few missteps with a loud warning caw for which I was very much grateful.

So, it comes as a great surprise to me when he suddenly caws loudly and repetitively in my ear as he drags himself upward on midnight wings, leaving me to stumble forward a bit as he remains hovering behind me with frantic beats.

My phone, which I'd glanced down to for the time was jostled from my grip, miraculously remaining connected by the headphone wires now tangled around my fingers, spinning precariously in mid air and threatening to fall at any moment.

However, my attention is not on the perilous position my phone now hangs in, but rather the solid something in front of me that I had bumped into, pushing me back a half step from the contact.

I hadn't realized I had closed my eyes until the darkness is suddenly blinked away and I find myself suddenly eye to eye with a pair of deep brown eyes. Very large deep brown eyes, looking very unamused at the moment.

I take another startled step backward, my eyes darting over the sight before me.

Before me stood a rather large cow, like... a black and white, four legged, hoofed cow. There were a few other more distinguishing features about it, like the white shock of hair between its generously pierced ears... or the silver chain and pendant hanging around its neck.

I really wanted to cry now. In fact I could feel the stinging prickly sensation that warned of tears being imminent.

"Motherfucker," I huff out, hastily reeling in my phone and shoving it into a free coat pocket. "Of course... this is just my luck. I really shouldn't expect anything less at this point,"

Through my mutterings I give a quick glance around, obviously seeing nothing through the fog. Thankfully there was an alleyway to my left and through a stream of apologies, curses, and internalized questioning of the powers that be and their apparent hatred for me, I urge the cow zodiac into it and away from any other unfortunate passerby making their way through the fog.

Surprisingly he follows my urging without protest and before following I step back to gather up his clothes which lay scattered on the pavement, Cerin wasting no time in retaking his perch as I step between the buildings, the rest of the flock perching on the roof overlooking us.

With concerted effort I let my gaze flicker here and there about my surroundings, anywhere but at the bovid in front of me.

With out realizing it my fingers end up curling into the fluffy white trim of his coat as I hold the neatly folded clothing tightly in my arms.

Finding myself at a loss of how to proceed I stupidly decide to open my mouth, a trembling apology falling from my lips as I find myself staring intently at one of the buckles on his coat as if it were a puzzle I were trying to solve.

"I am so sorry. I should have been paying more attention with the fog as it is," I start weakly. "Then again that's no excuse when I seem to get tripped up either way even in broad daylight," I mutter to myself. "God. At this rate I'm gonna surpass Tohru with how many times I've tripped onto a Sohma..."

I give a humorless huff of laughter as I continue to myself. "They're all going to hate me if this keeps up. Maybe I should just stay home until I can figure my way out of here."

I flinch the slightest bit as I realize I was still standing before the cow zodiac and color rushes to my cheeks. Another apology is on the tip of my tongue as I prepare to set down his clothes and leave him be before I embarrass myself any further but it is interrupted by an impassive voice suddenly dispersing the tension I'd built up in my mind.

"You're one of the girls staying at Sensei's place aren't you?"

"I... what?" I ask, blinking owlishly at the cow.

"You're staying with Shigure Sensei yeah?" He repeats with a bit more clarification.

Oh! That's right, I'd almost forgotten the deal he'd made with Shigure, about why he calls him Sensei.

My fingers lose their grip on the coat trim, only to trail slowly down to the red and white beads on my wrist, tugging at the bracelet gently as I find my voice again to answer.

"Yes, that's right," I start. "And given how my clumsiness caused you to turn into a cow, I'm guessing you're a Sohma,"

"Yeah, if it wasn't already obvious I'm the Ox," He replies quietly.

It was strange though, his voice was almost calming in a way, it was something I would almost call gloomy though that didn't quite fit, despite the matter of fact delivery it managed to be soothing.

I got the sense that he wasn't mad as I expected he would be, he's actually taking it quite well. I was lucky not to have to deal with Haru Black or I'm sure I would've actually run away like I'd been considering.

The only thing that kept me from doing so in the first place was that I didn't want to be rude.

One of his ears flicks a bit as he angles his face toward me a bit more, a tiny metal charm hanging off a small hoop earring in it jingling slightly with the motion.

He looks as if he's about to say something before almost simultaneously there is a soft popping sound accompanied by a puff of smoke, as well as a rather loud caw from Cerin, whom I'd forgotten was on my shoulder, as well as Huginn and Muninn.

Said bird continues on with some much softer caws, sounding almost like a warning as he puffs up in place, ruffling his wings at his side as he leans toward the smoke with one last caw before I shush him.

I waste no time in angling myself more to the side, my eyes firmly glued to the brick wall to my right as I shove the pile of clothing away from myself and slightly behind me, my arms stiff as a board in mid air as I wait for the cow zodiac to take them from me.

He does so with out a word and I quickly retract my hands to my chest, clasping them in front of me as I turn fully to face the mouth of the alley.

From above I can hear Huginn and Muninn quietly fussing at me and I glance up for a moment, their squawking ceasing once I do so. They quickly seem to lose interest upon seeing I'm alright, Cerin however will not stop nibbling at my hair and rubbing his face in it even despite my continuous attempts to gently bat him away.

The rustling of fabric and clatter of buckles and zippers soon ceases and I am left with a sudden quiet almost as thick as the fog clinging to the streets around us.

I really don't want to turn around. Maybe I can just walk away now, leave with a quick goodbye and not look back.

"Thanks for taking care of my clothes for me, and for getting me out of sight so quickly, I was kind of surprised at first but you acted so swiftly," I hear his voice from behind me.

Hesitantly I turn to face him, meeting dark gray eyes that I hastily look away from, my fingers had begun absentmindedly running along Cerin's feathers and so when I stop he fusses at me until I continue.

It draws Haru's eyes away from me though and it gives me a bit more confidence to speak since he's not looking at me for the moment.

"Yeah, well I've been living with three members of the zodiac for long enough that I kind of had to develop quick reflexes when it comes to this kinda thing," I reply, forcing a light air of humor into my voice to try and quell the bubbling tension in my chest.

He does something unexpected then, he smiles at me.

Its small, but its definitely there. I'm almost too surprised by it to smile back and just as quickly its gone, and his expression returns to it's previous blandness afterward.

He shoves his hands into his coat pockets, starting almost lazily toward me with out another word until he's at my side still looking straight forward. "Take care of them okay?" He asks, never slowing his pace as he walks back toward the street.

Just before turning the corner he throws up a hand in a lazy wave, reminiscent of my farewell to my coworkers earlier. "See ya around bird girl," He calls before disappearing from sight.

"God... that whole interaction was exhausting..." I mutter quietly to myself, wanting nothing more than to sink to my knees where I stood.

But then his parting words finally register and I feel a sudden energy flare up in me.

Bird girl?

Before I've made a conscious decision to do so I find myself rushing to the mouth of the alley, catching sight of him just before he disappears into the slowly thinning fog.

"Hey!" I call brilliantly, cringing a bit as he actually stops, attention still on the path ahead of him. "I have a name you know, it's Brielle,"

I bite my cheek, having to fight down my blush as the regret and embarrassment slowly build in me at my needless clarification.

"It was a pleasure, Brielle," He finally answers before fading into the wall of fog ahead of me.

"God. I'm an idiot," I mutter to myself, shaking my head as soft laughter shakes my frame, drawing complaint from the crow on my shoulder.

VV

"Miss Williams?"

I look up from my phone with a start, nearly dropping it as I glance over next to me to find Yuki looking at me with a glimmer of concern creasing his brow.

"Y-yes? Did you need something Yuki?" I ask, averting my eyes as I fumble for the little button on the side of the phone that would lock it before I slip it quickly into my pocket and out of sight.

"The pot is boiling over," He states mildly, drawing a hand up to point to the stove as he says so.

My gaze snaps over to my right to find that indeed, the small pot of water and seasoning I'd been waiting on had boiled over, water now sizzling from the heat of the eye as it pooled over the range.

"Crap," I curse, quickly flicking off the burner and reaching for a towel to mop up any of the water that had spread a safe enough distance from the heat. "I really need to stop cooking and reading at the same time..." I mutter to myself with a sigh.

"That might be for the best," Yuki comments as he retrieves the water pitcher from the fridge to fill his glass.

The glare that I send his way holds little heat behind it, especially with the following grin that appears on my lips.

"It must've been quite interesting," He adds, seeming thoughtful. "What was it about?"

"What was what about?"

"The book, you said you were reading something didn't you?"

Shit.

"Y-yeah, it was nothing really, just a pretty embarrassing shojo manga," I start, keeping my voice level. "I'm sure you wouldn't be interested in a silly thing like that,"

"Oh I'm sure it can't be that bad, perhaps I've heard of it?" A new voice speaks up from behind me, causing me to flinch and drop the damp towel in my hands.

Of course Shigure would choose now to show up and insert himself into the conversation...

My reply is almost instantaneous and brings with it a sinking feeling of remorse at my sudden and hasty shout of "No!"

I should expect nothing less than the startled looks on the two Sohma's faces and quickly fumble to correct my mistake.

"I mean... It's just really embarrassing, I'm mortified enough on a daily basis from my own actions, I'd rather not have anyone know my humiliating taste in reading material on top of it. Sorry,"

Yuki gives me a small smile, seeming to accept my explanation with out issue. "That's understandable,"

Shigure on the other hand doesn't seem to buy it, despite the cheerful smile drawing up his features there is a dark look in his eyes reminiscent to the indecipherable glint they held when I'd first told them my story oh so many nights ago.

"Yes, yes, of course. Although I must say I'm quite surprised that you have such scandalous taste in literature, perhaps you might be interested in something I've written then?" The author adds in, his unnerving gaze disappearing as his eyes close with the widening of his grin. As he says this he sidles up next to me, making his offer of new reading material in a stage whisper.

I manage to subtly step away as Yuki gracefully selects an item off the counter and sends it flying at the older man.

Well, this is just lovely. Now Shigure is definitely suspicious of me... well, more so than he was already.

I get back to cooking, managing to tune the cousins out as I mull over my own stupidity and ineptitude.

Its not like I had any other option really, I certainly couldn't tell them I was reading the story of their every day lives in the form of a deceptively depressing manga. My delivery could have been a lot better though.

Before I realize it I am alone again in the kitchen with my thoughts and the pleasant aroma of slowly cooking food.

This was threatening to become quite the mess...
