(Surprise POV)
I was sleeping. That much, I could certainly tell you. If I were awake, then I would not have felt so peaceful. In my waking hours there was only pain, and sadness. Then I also considered the other option, death. I could be dead. Floating somewhere in the emptiness of the black abyss. The afterlife was much more welcome. Maybe this is where the other souls go that don't reach the rukon district, or the human world. Or...Hueco Mundo. The thought made me shiver.
I finally started to really look around at my surroundings. I knew I was nowhere, I already mentioned that, but suddenly, I was somewhere. At first there was no light but the suttle feeling of walls around me and a floor under my feet. Then, a light. Coming through a window. I moved towards the window to look out. I found myself looking at the seemingly endless deserts of Hueco Mundo. I turned back to see my room of horrors. All the horror I had gone through was clear on the walls. Splatters all over the walls and floor. I sat on the makeshift bed they had given me. Then someone walked in. They seemed familiar but they were as pale as a halo and had a mask over one eye and the fingers were covered in bony claws.
"Don't recognize me do you?" She asked in a strangely warm and welcoming voice and the question was more a statement.
"Afraid not," I replied.
"You wouldn't, we never officially met before. I on the other hand, know exactly who you are. Unlike the one before us, I am neither good nor evil. I don't push for the most beneficial side, or the one that seems to be winning. Until now I have never had a say so in the actions. Only because I do not own the body I stay in. I am no more than a zanpaktou. And truthfully, I am just that. Before there was another who represented your zanpaktou, but only because I had not been able to speak to you before now. So from now I am your new partner," she said as she leaned against the wall as my father, or even I might do.
"So you're a part of me? The femine part or just a part?" I asked.
"I am female only because you are, sometimes girlies things excite me, but the true answer is both," she replied softly, a little like silk and a slight smile to decorate her features.
"Alright, what makes us able to communicate now?"
"I think it had to do with a boy that gave us the exposure to more hallo than we are used to but not fully," she replied rather vaguely, but I understood.
"Okay. So why did you bring me here?"
"That, was not me. It was you, or rather, your dreams. If not before you would be having a nightmare about this place. I understand that your physical body needs to be calm or otherwise you might die. If you were to have one tiny nightmare then you might have left this world," she said softly.
"What's happening right now? Where am I?"
"You are safe, in an infirmary."
"Then it is over?"
"I am afraid only so much is. There is still so much more chaos in life to come. You and I, well, we inherited a lot of enemies. Not just that man, but others even inside the soul society."
"So what do we do?"
"You ask many questions," she said jokingly, "you fight, or you hide. But always plan on fighting later. Build of your strength and power to fight those seemingly impossible battles you will run from."
(Note: time is going much faster in the real world than it is here)
"That has always been my plan. I only avoid the pointless or unnecessary battles."
"As do I," she replied.
"You're very strange for a hallo," I remarked.
"Well, I was born mostly soul reaper, so there isn't much left of the hallo other than the powers."
"Alright."
"Well, I do believe it is time for me to go."
And with that, she went. She had gone as quickly as she had come. Once again, I was everywhere, and I was nowhere. Floating in space, waiting. For what I may never know. Hours passed, or maybe no time passed at all. I was stuck in a void that was endless. I wonder if this was what comatose felt like. Then I was in a building. Running. I was out of breath, and scared. I didn't know to whom or from whom I was running to. Then a scream sounded from somewhere up ahead. I thought I recognized it, but I wasn't sure, so I ran and listened hard. It came again, only this time it sounded different, younger. I realized then that they had my brothers, after the third scream sounded and recognized the sound as a toddler's voice.
I ran harder trying to follow the sounds. I noticed that the younger two scream's seemed to differ from the older. The older one sounded as if from pain with a mixture of fear. The others from fear. Then, it stopped. He no longer screamed, and as I rounded a corner, the second began his painful howls. Tears trailed down my face. I quickened my run in hopes to get there in time to save them.
It wasn't much longer until silence fell on him as well. And the painful wails of my 2 year old brother began. Oh god, he was only 2! It wasn't much longer after it began that I reached the door. I reached my hand for the knob shakily. I turned it and the door opened inward to reveal, a most horrific scene. My oldest brother, was in two pieces. His arms bound to a wall holding up his torso. His legs slumped sideways on the floor. The second oldest looked like tenderized meat on the floor, his blood making a new paint for the walls. Then my eyes finally settled on my youngst brother, I realized he was still alive. But the killer had cut off his right foot, a few fingers, broken his jaw. And burnt some of his flesh. The killer stood over his body with a stone just large enough to crush the toddler. I began to scream as the stone came down on him and his screams ended. I had been trying to get to him so when it came down on him a lot of his blood splattered on me. The killer lifted the stone so I could see the crushed bones and muscles and organs of the baby. He was nothing but a pile of meat now. I began to sob and fell to my knees. The killer made his way towards me. An axe in hand. He raised it as he was about to-
I woke up screaming and crying. Jack was there immediately to calm me down. At first I tried to get away from him, my mind still stuck in that horrible place. During this time I actually saw Grimjow in Jack's place. Jack took me by the shoulders though and I finally saw it was him. I leaned into him and started to cry into his shoulder. He held me quietly not trying not to disturb me more and just waited it out.
"You ok?" he asked after I stopped crying.
"Yeah, I think I'm alright now," I replied.
"Good, does anything hurt?"
"No, everything feels numb," I replied.
"The doctor said you might feel that way. Though it is going to wear off soon."
I nodded and silence fell on us again. My stomach rumbled so Jack went off in search of food.
Jack's Pov
I went to one of the personel and asked about food. As I waited on her to get some I saw a group of people who were leading Ichigo inside, and he wasn't conscious. I grabbed someone from the back to get an explanation.
"No one knows. We sent him after you guys and we found him like this with no additional injuries," they said.
I nodded and let them go. I got Dax's food and went back to her room. We sat quietly eating while I thought about her dad. I didn't want to bring it up just yet, I wanted her to at least have a decent meal. She looked at me and noticed my intense look. She inquired me about it but I told her to finish her food before we talked so she did.
"Alright. What ails you?" She asked.
"Your father came in unconscious," I said.
She sat in stunned silence. "Why?" She asked.
"We're not sure. He was supposed to have met us while you were out," I replied.
Then it seemed like realization dawned on her. She then sighed and leaned back but gave no hint of telling me.
"Do you know what's wrong with him?"
"He's-
