A/N: Aaah! We're boiling down to the last few chapters here! I'm glad you all are still enjoying all of this—I was very, very hesitant to tackle a topic like this. You all have made it worth it :)
I listened to 'Marry You' by Bruno Mars (so cliché, I know), 'First Time' by Lifehouse, & 'Pure Imagination' by Maroon 5 (which is an amazing cover, by the way). Enjoy!
The day had finally come. Emma was glad she at least made it this far-planning a wedding was much more work than she thought.
But, there she was, standing just before the doors, Henry on her left, David on her right.
"Ready, Emma?" David asked with a smile.
"As I'll ever be." Emma sighed.
"You look beautiful, I promise, Mom." Henry spoke softly, leaning into her side. She knew he was getting weaker, but she hoped he would get better soon... It seemed his positivity was rubbing off on her.
She heard the music begin to play, and the doors opened to reveal the small church. She immediately caught Killian's eyes, smiling and subconsciously letting out a giggle as his lips parted. Emma tried her hardest to keep pace with Henry and David, fighting all urges to race to her husband-to-be.
Once she reached the altar, both Henry and David pressed kisses to her cheek, then passed her on to Killian. They went to stand behind Killian, next to Liam (who Emma still hadn't met).
"You are bloody gorgeous, Swan." Killian beamed as he took her hands in his.
"You clean up pretty nicely yourself." Emma teased with a smile.
The ceremony began, and the two exchanged their vows (Emma knew everyone in the room would be in tears-boy, was she right). Their friends and family even recognized just how much this meant to the both of them-they'd both had terrible luck with love, but now, it seemed like it was finally coming together for them.
"Do you, Emma Swan, take Killian Jones to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I do." Emma smiled, wiping at a tear.
"And do you, Killian Jones, take Emma Swan to be your lawfully wedded wife?"
"I do." Killian grinned.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride." The priest said, and Killian wasted no time.
He grabbed her by her waist, dipping her before pressing his lips to hers. Giggles bubbled out of Emma's mouth as they kissed and their friends cheered. Killian stood her upright, taking her hand and leading her down the aisle again, this time as a married couple.
"We did it, love!" Killian beamed as soon as they made it outside. He hugged her close, the pads of his fingers digging into Emma's back.
"Well, well, well," An accented voice spoke from behind, "It's wonderful to finally meet the beautiful Miss Swan. Er, I suppose you're Mrs. Jones now."
Emma and Killian tugged away to face Liam. Killian immediately hugged him, then tugged away to introduce them.
"Emma, this is my brother, Liam." Killian smiled.
"Killian doesn't shut up about you." Emma giggled as he hugged her tight.
"And the same about you." Liam chuckled.
"Mom!" Henry giggled, hurrying to hug her. She pulled away from Liam to hug Henry tight, closing her eyes. He finally got to see her happy.
"Henry, this is Liam." Emma smiled, tugging away and keeping an arm around him.
"Ah, so you're the boy Killian talks about." Liam grinned, holding out his hand for Henry. Henry shook it with a smile, nodding.
"Killian talks a lot about you, too." Henry beamed.
"Why don't we head back to Emma's apartment, so we can get some food and celebrate?" Killian grinned, and everyone agreed.
After everyone but Killian and Emma made their short speeches, they sat around and talked. Emma was talking with David when she realized Henry was talking animatedly with Liam.
"Looks like he's warming up to Liam quickly." David chuckled.
"I'd say." Emma giggled, taking a sip of her wine, "I'm glad he's smiling. It's been rough lately."
"Yeah?" David asked.
"Yeah. Henry's tired all the time, he doesn't eat much, he doesn't smile much... I'm worried about him." Emma sighed.
"You're doing the best you can, Emma. That's all you can do." David said, squeezing her shoulder, "He knows you're doing everything in your power to make him feel comfortable."
"I keep asking myself if it's okay that I'm more terrified than he is."
"Of course it's okay. I promise, whatever you're feeling, it's okay." David assured her, "He's your son-of course you're going to be worried."
Emma offered a half smile to her friend before sighing and taking a sip of her wine.
"Love, come here for a second-Liam has a question for you." Killian called, making her giggle.
"Okay, okay, give me a sec." Emma giggled, rising from her seat to join Liam and Killian on the couch.
"Hey." Emma smiled, pressing a kiss to Kilian's lips.
"Liam had a question for you." Killian smiled, and Emma turned to face the older man.
He had the same bright blue eyes like Killian, but his hair was lighter and much curlier. He had a sweet smile, one that could probably make any girl swoon.
"So, what is it that you do, Emma?" Liam spoke with a knowing smile.
"I'm sure Killian has told you," She giggled, "But, it sounds like you want an explanation."
"What exactly does being a bail-bondsperson entail?" Liam chuckled, taking a drink.
"Anything, really. I've gone on fake dates with guys-before I met Killian, of course-I've had to chase people down in heels, boot cars... Pretty much anything and everything." Emma giggled, "It's, um, quite the job. I've always kept Henry out of it, though. I don't want him getting hurt."
"Henry's a sweet kid, Emma." Liam smiled, "He's smart, too, my god."
Emma's features hardened as she shook her head.
"Was he giving you a hard time?" Emma sighed.
"Of course not." Liam laughed, and Emma felt Killian's hand on her back.
"Liam's just jealous that Henry learned to play the guitar." Killian teased.
"No, I'm not. I was just saying that for a kid his age, he's brilliant." Liam chuckled, reaching around Emma to whack his brother.
"Yeah, he's, um, the smartest in his class." Emma spoke with a pained smile.
"I'll be right back, love." Killian smiled, pressing a kiss to the back of her head before rising up off the couch.
"You know, I've gotta be honest-Killian's never talked about a patient as much as he talks of Henry." Liam said after Killian was out of earshot, "He really cares about you two."
"I love Killian. I can promise you that. And, for someone who has never had a father in his life... Henry needs Killian as a father just as much as he needs him as a doctor." Emma spoke with a sad smile, "The two are pretty inseparable."
"I know you are, too, but I hope he can power through this. He really is a great kid, Emma. I'll have to try and visit more. Or, maybe you guys can come to Ireland." Liam smiled.
"Oh, he'd love that." Emma grinned, tucking some hair behind her ear.
"I'd love for you all to come visit-I could show you around Dublin." Liam chuckled.
"Are you trying to steal my wife away to Ireland already, Liam?" Killian teased, "I've been gone not five minutes."
"I'm trying to steal your stepson!" Liam laughed.
"Not a chance." Killian spoke with the shake of his head, "Keep dreaming, brother."
Later that night, Emma and Killian stole away to his apartment that was nearly all packed.
"Welcome to paradise." Killian teased as he carried Emma into the apartment, princess-style.
"Oh, I didn't realize paradise entailed stacks of moving boxes." Emma giggled as he set her down.
"It's, um, under construction." Killian grinned, rubbing behind his ear. Emma's laughter grew louder, hitting Killian's arm playfully.
"I love it-even if we end up drinking wine on the floor." Emma giggled.
"Well, let me find a blanket, and we can sit on something comfier." Killian smiled, moving around her to search through his labeled boxes.
Emma watched him for only a moment before slipping off her heels and walking to the kitchen. She reached into a box to grab two wine glasses, setting them on the counter with care.
"White or red?"
"Your pick, love." He called as he continued checking boxes.
"I always pick." Emma giggled.
"Because I know you like red better." Killian chuckled, making Emma smile as she reached into Killian's small wine cabinet to grab her favorite bottle of red.
"Sometimes I think you know me better than I know myself."
"Lass, of course I do. Just as you know me better than I do." Killian replied as he laid down a blanket in the center of his living space.
"You know," Emma smiled as she poured the wine, "I can't believe we're married."
"I can't, either. It feels a bit surreal." Killian chuckled as Emma walked over with the glasses.
"I'm sorry we couldn't go on a real honeymoon, I just-"
"Love, you know I understand." Killian spoke softly as she sat carefully beside him. She offered a sad smile before leaning against his side.
"To a long, healthy marriage." Killian smiled, holding his glass out. Emma giggled and clinked hers against his, leaning up to press a kiss to his lips before taking a long drink.
"How many glasses of wine have you had today?" Killian teased.
"Shut up." She giggled, "Maybe four? Five, tops."
"You sure can hold your wine."
"I can hold all of my alcohol, Mister." Emma teased.
"Oh?" Killian chuckled, curling a lock of her hair around his finger. Emma raised an eyebrow as she set her glass on the floor, meeting Killian's very, very blue (bedroom) eyes.
"Mm." She giggled. Emma shrieked as Killian pushed her onto the blanket, his hands at either side of her head.
"Well, as Mrs. Jones, what do you think your first act of business should be?" Killian smirked.
"I think I have just the idea, Dr. Jones."
Emma woke in the morning in a haze. She blinked a few times in the bright light beaming into the room, something nearly blinding her. She shifted a little under the tangled blankets, causing the blinding light to shift.
It was her rings. Oh, god, her rings. She was married to the man of any woman's dreams. And he was lying right beside her, naked.
Emma sat up, carefully untangling her limbs from the blanket and grabbing Killian's dress shirt. She slipped on her underwear and bra, then into Killian's warm shirt. She smiled at the smell-it smelled just like him, like his cologne and and just a hint of alcohol.
Rising to shaky legs (wow, she drank more than she planned), Emma padded to the kitchen and fished out a pan and whisk. She turned the stovetop on and walked to the fridge, opening it and grabbing the carton of eggs.
"Oh my god." Killian moaned. Emma turned to see him roll over, shielding his eyes from bright sun.
"Morning." Emma smiled, "Sleep okay?"
"Like a baby." Killian mumbled.
"I'm making eggs, when you're ready to come out of your cocoon." Emma giggled, cracking an egg on the side of the pan.
"Eggs?"
"Yeah." She replied with a coy smile, not that he he could see it.
"Mm." Killian mumbled. Emma smiled to herself as she watched him try to pull himself out of his sleepy state.
Emma focused back on their breakfast, jumping a little when Killian snaked his arms around her waist a few minutes later. She felt his bare arms around her, the rough material of his dress pants scratching the back of her legs.
"You're warm." Emma smiled.
"Sorry." Killian whispered, pressing a kiss to the back of her head.
"No, it's fine, I like it." Emma smiled, leaning back into his touch, "How drunk were we last night?"
"I'd say very," Killian chuckled, "Given the fact that you kept calling me 'doctor' and the headache I have."
"Why don't you take some ibuprofen?"
"It's packed away somewhere." Killian spoke with the wave of his hand.
"I probably have some in my purse if you want it." Emma offered, earning a kiss to the cheek.
"You're the best, Swa-Jones."
"Well, I do try." Emma grinned, "Nice slip."
"Mm, you'll always be my Swan." Killian mumbled against her skin.
His Swan was a good person to be, Emma decided.
