Chapter 11

Kagome slowly sunk her body into the steaming hot spring until it was up to her chin just after her two female comrades got in before her. The three women were leaning back and enjoying the relaxation, "Ahhh" Sango said calmly. "So," Kailanna cut into the silence. "Can someone explain what happened to Inuyasha and Sesshomaru while I was gone? I know their relationship was always sour but that just seems really hostile between kin" Kagome looked over at Kailanna, "Well Sesshomaru always wants Tetsusaiga and Inuyasha has always wanted to be a full demon so Sango and I like to believe he's jealous." Sango nodded in her agreement. "Ah so the swords, right." Kailanna nodded a bit in understanding, her hair floating on the top of the water. "Yeah I mean we can all see why Sesshomaru wouldn't want a sword that heals." Sango shrugged, chiming in.

Kagome looked a bit hesitant and peered over at Kailanna, Kailanna caught her curious look, "Something on your mind Kagome?" "Oh, um well me and Sango- er or Sango and I were actually wondering, since you brought it up.. um" Kagome stuttered. "Spit it out Kagome." Kailanna pressed her. "Well we were wondering why you were gone for such a long time." Kailanna stared at her and nodded, "Ah, if you wanted to know you should've just asked." She paused a moment. "I was taken at a young age and I grew up a slave to a Lord, once I because more powerful than anything that was around him he got a monk to seal me away." "That's awful.." Sango said quietly. Kailanna shrugged, "I like to think it made me stronger." Kagome nodded with a small smile, "Well you're with us now so that's all that matters, and Inuyasha is definitely happier since you've been here."

Kailanna nodded and slowly looked to her left, softly smelling the air as a soft breeze blew by and she smiled a bit and looked down at the water. "Everything alright Kailanna?" Sango asked seeing her smile. "Hm? Yeah I'm good, we should get heading back." Kagome and Sango nodded in agreement as they both started to get out and Kailanna shortly after, taking her time now since she has begun to be comfortable around her new comrades.

As the priestess, half-demon and demon slayer all started to walk back to the makeshift camp for the night Kailanna could start to smell the fire Miroku must've started. The camp came into view and she could see Miroku, Shippo and Kilala all sitting by the fire and Inuyasha was off laying in the grass about thirty feet away with his hand behind his head. "What's up with him?" Kailanna asked as the women approached the camp. Miroku shrugged, "Nothing he just went and laid down."

Kailanna nodded and made her way over to her half-demon comrade and closely next to him with a playful smile on her face. Inuyasha opened one eye and looked at her, "What's with that stupid smile on your face." "Oh nothing. So were there any bad guys while you were watching over us tonight?" Kailanna laughed a bit. His eyes shot open, "What? What do you mean, I was here the whole time." "Inuyasha there's no point in lying I caught your scent." Kailanna told him quickly. "Look I was going for a walk, not watching over you." Inuyasha tried to give himself and alibi. Kailanna laughed a bit, "You really suck at lying plus it's not even bad that you were, it just shows you care Inuyasha." Inuyasha just sat up and crossed his legs with a frustrated look on his face. Kailanna sat up and looked at him, "Hey I didn't mean to make you mad." "You didn't." Inuyasha quickly said back. Kailanna slowly slipped her arm through his and put her chin on his shoulder, "I think it's really nice of you to do that, and none of us would ever think that you would peak." Inuyasha's face then went red and he looked in the opposite direction. "Okay okay, sorry." She slowly pulled her arm back to herself.

"Come on let's just lay down and look at the stars okay?" Kailanna suggested and laid back down. "Fine." Inuyasha said quietly and laid back down next to her. She smiled a bit, looking at him and then looking back up at the stars. Inuyasha slowly looked over at her once he knew that she was looking up, he smiled a bit, seeing sky reflected in her eyes and how the moon light made her hair shine and made her look like a goddess. He stared, he didn't know for how long but he stared and he didn't even care because it was worth taking in her entire beauty. She smiled a bit, looking up at the stars and Inuyasha's heart almost skipped a beat. "Hey Inuyasha?" He was snapped back to reality once she looked over at him. "Um, uh yeah?" "We won't be separated again right?" She asked staring right back into his eyes with hope, "No never… I won't let it happen, I promise." He vowed to her and she smiled again, turning towards him and hugging his arm to her chest and resting her head on his shoulder. Inuyasha's face slowly went pink as he looked back up at the stars and Kailanna closed her eyes. After he was sure that Kailanna was asleep Inuyasha closed his eyes and fell asleep shortly after.

In the morning Kailanna woke to having Inuyasha's arm around her and their bodies pressed together, for once it was her cheeks that turned pink and her heart picked up its pace. At the increasing heart rate and pounding sound in his ears Inuyasha's eyes started to open. He slowly looked down to see Kailanna wrapped up against him and his ears went hot and he slowly loosened his grip on her. "Morning Inuyasha." Kailanna said it as if she was playing everything off and she stretched, moving slightly away from him. "Uh, morning." Inuyasha said in reply. "So what are we doing today?" Kailanna asked, trying to distract both of them from what just happened. "I think Kagome needs to go home so were going back to the village." Inuyasha voice sounded husky and tired which Kailanna actually liked. Kailanna nodded, "Okay, so should we get everyone up?" Inuyasha nodded and started to get up, Kailanna following him.

As Inuyasha started to walk over to their friends Kailanna stopped him by grabbing his sleeve. "Inuyasha wait, look at this." "Look at what?" Inuyasha said when he turned back around and stopped once he saw the sunset. The two half demons stared at the mix of oranges and yellows from the new day and blues from the night before and the stars slowly disappear behind the sun's rays. "Have you ever seen anything more beautiful than that…?" Kailanna said in amazement. Inuyasha didn't answer and looked at her because of course he did, he has seen her but of course she didn't know that. Kailanna just smiled, "You don't see a sunset like that too often though and it's good to see in the rough times." Inuyasha just nodded a bit, "Alright let's go wake everyone." Kailanna just nodded and started to follow him back to where everyone else was sleeping.

"You get Miroku, I'll get Kagome and Sango." Kailanna told her male half-demon comrade. Inuyasha scoffed a bit but just nodded, "Who died and made you leader." Kailanna just laughed a bit and soft shook her demon slayer comrade away, "Hey Sango, wake up its time to get going." Sango rolled over and sighed a bit, "Already?" Kailanna just laughed a bit, "Yep." She then walked over to Kagome and shook her softly, "Kagome come on, we have to get up now, you too Shippo."

Inuyasha walked over to Miroku and jabbed the monk with his sheathed sword and Miroku jumped awake, "Ow! What?! Inuyasha are you insane?" "It's time to get going." Inuyasha said flatly and walked back over to Kailanna and the girls. "Shippo come on get up." Kailanna tried to urge the fox-demon awake. Inuyasha reached down and grabbed the fox by his tail and pulled him up. "Wake up you stinky little mole." "Ahh! Inuyasha! I'm a FOX!" Shippo yelled and squirmed, trying to get out of Inuyasha's grasp. Inuyasha laughed a bit but it was cut off by Kagome's voice, "SIT BOY!" Inuyasha was then thrown to the ground, head first making a huge indent into the ground and causing the whole crew to laugh a bit at the smug dog-demons pain.

"You didn't have to do that Kagome." Inuyasha said rubbing his head. "Well you shouldn't make fun of Shippo like that Inuyasha." Kagome said in reply. He just huffed and crossed his arms. "It's what you get Inuyasha." Kailanna told him. "What? You're taking her side? Come on Kailanna!" "He's just a kid Inuyasha! You were in his place once." Kailanna shrugged and tried to reason with him. Inuyasha just huffed, "Kid needs to learn his place." Kailanna and Kagome rolled their eyes as they finished packing everything up. Sango stuck Hiraikotsu on her back and Miroku picked up his staff, "Alright we're all ready" The monk proclaimed. "Finally…" Inuyasha muttered.

As the crew walked it was the usual scene, Sango and Miroku were in their own world with Kilala travelling close behind while Kagome and Shippo were giggling about who knows what and Inuyasha and Kailanna walked by themselves in silence with the occasional conversation every now and then.

"So wait, where does Kagome come from?" Kailanna asked confused. "Some place called Tokyo." Inuyasha shrugged. "I don't try and make sense of it but it's weird there." Kailanna just seemed more confused, "Wait but then how does she get here?" "The well." "What?" Kailanna's eyes widened. Inuyasha's eyes rolled, "Just wait you'll see."

As the group of travellers approached the familiar village, Kaede was standing out front to meet the youngsters with the big smile on her face. "Kagome, Inuyasha, Miroku, Sango, Shippo, Kilala, and oh? A new friend I see and by the looks a half-demon as Inuyasha." Kaede slowly examines the female half-demon as they stop in front of her. "Yes, yes I know you, you are Kailanna." "What? How do you know who I am?" Kailanna asked quietly. "I remember you because there was much talk of when you were sealed away, I know the monk who did the sealing as well." Kailanna listened to the elder quietly. "You're not as vicious as the stories say" Kaede laughed a bit. Kailanna smiled, "They made me out to be something I wasn't." Kaede softly took Kailanna's hand and shook it, "I would love to hear your stories as soon as we get Kagome home. The group nodded as the headed off towards the well.

They came to the well and all that Kailanna said was, "You live in there Kagome?" Kagome just laughed and shook her head, "No Kailanna, it transports me home, I'm not from their era I'm from a time way in the future." "Woah, what?" "Trust me, you don't want to go there." Inuyasha said quietly, "It's noisy and it smells really horrible." Kailanna laughed a bit. "Hey that's my home you're talking about!" Kagome defended her origins. "What? It is!" Inuyasha retorted. Kagome huffed and prepared herself to go over the edge of the well.

"Bye Kagome!" Shippo said sadly. "Get over it Shippo and man up, she will be back." Inuyasha scolded the young fox. "Bye Kagome! Safe trip!" Miroku and Sango waved to the priestess. "Bye Kagome." Inuyasha said flatly. "Bye Kagome, we will see you when you get back!" Kailanna said and waved a bit. Kaede just stood in the background and waved silently with a smile on her face. "Bye everyone! See you soon!" Kagome smiled, waved and jumped disappearing into her era.
