Despite it all, our sins were yet to be forgiven by the divine. Once the group around us dissipated, individuals still remained. There stood the three Fates.
They advanced on us. As if rehearsed, the sister who speaks of events to be rose her voice.
"What's going on here, Lee?"
The sister who conveys situations that are current followed.
"I dunno Marie, looks like your man's playing around!"
The sister who recalls the past finished.
"From the sounds of it, he's been doing this for a while!"
In my ear I heard my turtledove's disdain.
"Kankers…Figures."
Eddy promptly approached these wicked beings. He had enough of their charades over the years.
"Seriously, right now? Can't ya see we're trying to have a touchy-feely moment here? Get lost!"
Lee took hold of the conversation, looking quite amused.
"Oh, touchy-feely? Sounds like something we can get into, girls."
This erupted laughter from the three sisters. Lee continued, redirecting the purpose of their arrival.
"But that ain't why we here, is it?"
May spoke up, as an introduction for Marie.
"Nope. We're here to show you a lesson."
Marie trooped to the front line of the formation. There was a strange air about her which manifested a lead weight in my stomach.
"I was wondering why my sweetums was acting so down lately."
Her face twisted into an unamused mess, arms crossing over one another. Marie's constant attempts at conversations with me over the week formed into this spectacle.
"I would've never guessed it'd be something like this."
Kevin's arms released me as he turned to face his assailant.
"Seriously, Marie. Just give it up already! He doesn't even wanna be in the same room as you, bitch."
This certainly perturbed the receiver of this insult. Quick to infuriate, Marie slandered back.
"Like he would ever want you, fucking faggot!"
Rolf, fed up with this confrontation, walked onto the battlefield.
"Do you believe you can insult Rolf's friends in such a way!? Begone repulsive witches from the tin can village!"
A predator, she never lost focus on my beloved. Rolf's aggressive demeanor triggered her assault. With the speed of a cheetah, Marie rushed at Kevin.
"You fucking think you can touch my man?!"
I saw around me the other two accomplices restrain the obvious threats to hindering Marie's attack, Eddy and Rolf. The rest of us stood, bewildered at this swift advance. My sense of sound was all that could align with the unfolding events. I overheard the muted thud of two bodies clashing, followed by the clamor of a struggle sprinkled with thumps of knuckles against flesh.
As my coordination caught up, I directed myself to the brawl. Due to Kevin having the superior strength, Marie was losing the skirmish.
Ed, fearing confrontation, clung to me tighter as a source of comfort. Nazz shouted for help and promptly sought it.
Then, Fate finally had its way.
A scream escaped Marie's vocal chords, knowing she was the loser of her prospects of punishment. A swift movement from her and Kevin's motions were halted.
He looked suddenly ill.
Marie's crazed expression vanished slowly. Her head bowed to witness the act. An utter look of shock developed as she stumbled away from her deed. Blood coated a hand wielding a blade. She beheld this utensil of madness with complete horror.
Kevin's balance faded quickly as he stammered back.
The din which arose from this was equivalent to standing within the halls of Hell. The shrieks of the damned flooded my ears.
Lee quickly attended to her traumatized sister.
"Come on, Marie, we gotta go-we gotta go."
May looked completely horrified. Tears were audible in her voice.
"Oh my God.."
Lee's leadership overcame her.
"Let's GO! NOW!"
She ripped Marie from her trance and darted towards the exit, dragging her along. I felt May's eyes on us, yet her obedience tore her in the direction of her fleeing kin. Realizing their attempts at escape, I heard Eddy's voice and footfalls through the chaos.
"GET THE FUCK BACK HERE!"
Released from Ed's grip, I immediately scurried to the wounded, Rolf already beside him. My heart was clenching itself in fear. I felt the strain placed onto my arteries jutting from it, as though they were too thin to allow the vast amount of blood to flow through them without suffering.
By now, Kevin was on the floor, squirming and clutching to his abdomen. Various expletives came forth from him. His skin was growing paler by the second.
I rapidly checked over his being. The region he was grasping was over top the section around his liver. He already had lost a substantial amount of blood. I required assistance. I removed my shirt with no delay and threw it over the affected area.
"Rolf, please apply pressure over Kevin's hands with this."
As Rolf complied, the injured gasped, all his muscles tensing. Still, it only took a few moments for his convulsions to subside. My turtledove became strangely complacent.
Despite Rolf's efforts, blood continued to leak from the sides of the garment. I grew cold, realizing the severity of this sign. I slowly looked towards Kevin's face. He was staring into me. His brilliant eyes where only half-lit.
"Hey.."
His voice was hardly audible.
"Is it bad..?"
Those words strangled me. Tears seeped from my eyes. I hadn't the idea how I should respond to such a question. His destiny had already been foretold to me by the calculations running in my head. With the rate of blood coming from the compression, an artery had certainly been severed. He had but mere tens of seconds left of consciousness.
I flashed the best smile I could through the anguish.
"Don't you worry Kevin...You'll be up and about in no time."
He blinked slowly and softly.
"Hey..Eddward?"
I desperately held back a sob.
"Y-yes Kevin?"
His eyebrows raised almost unnoticeably.
"I still think you're pretty.."
He struggled to take in life through his mouth.
"Is that okay..?"
I cradled his head in my arms, trying my dear best to hold my composure. The memories of our love unfolded one by one before my eyes. The quiet of his room the night of the party, the feeling of his warm embrace upon my discovery. How joyously we laughed during our nights together.
"Certainly Kevin. T-there's..there's nothing wrong with that."
He feebly nodded.
"Okay…cool."
A small time passed.
"You kinda look like an angel.."
I loosened my grip, allowing myself to properly view him. We merely gazed at each other. Soon, his eyelids relaxed and his awareness left him. My seraph was called back to Heaven.
I finally permitted myself to break. Taking his head into my hands, I connected our foreheads, and bellowed out in agony. Crying out for this all to be some demonic nightmare. My sense of reality was severed. The only recollections I possess are the sobs of Ed next to me and the last sensations of Kevin's warmth.
The help Nazz called out for arrived shortly after, but I cannot tell you what was said or done by them.
Kevin, my love, was no more. No longer would his brilliance bless this world. That holy light was extinguished forever.
Afterwards, life continued for those remaining. Ed, Eddy and I developed a bond with Nazz and Rolf, as to fill the void left in our chests. Time marched on and poor Marie was apprehended. Hearts still ache from the wounds inflicted onto them by these woes. Nevertheless, our lives will persist.
And this, my dear audience, is where I leave you. This story, of which rests among countless, shall be a catalyst to propagate the memory of my beloved turtledove. Therefore, his presence in this realm shall never perish.
The end.
Thank you all so much for reading. Its certainly been a wild ride as this was my first story I've ever finished. I hope you all enjoyed!
