"Ranma, can you please train me?" asked Akane for the umpteenth time that day.
"No," said Ranma.
"Why not?"
"I don't think you can take it."
"Sure I can.
Akane then attempted to deliver a roundhouse kick to Ranma's head, which he easily dodged.
"Akane, do that in the outside or in the dojo," reprimanded Kasumi as she walked past them in the hallway.
"Sorry Kasumi," said Akane.
"Yeah Akane, you could really hurt someone," Laughed Ranma.
"You jerk," shouted Akane as she began to chaise the pig-tailed martial artist around the house.
After an hour, Ranma finally stopped, allowing Akane to catch up with him.
"A slow chick like you could never catch me," laughed Ranma.
"If you train me, I could be faster," said Akane.
Akane was giving him the puppy dog eyes now and Ranma knew that he couldn't resist if she kept that up.
However, Ranma was saved by the timely arrival of Shampoo.
"Nihao Ranma," said Shampoo as she ran over him with her bike. A duck wearing coke bottle lenses followed her.
"Hello Shampoo," said Akane, while slightly annoyed. After all, she almost had Ranma.
"Shampoo want to know if Ranma want to come to park for date," said Shampoo.
"Not so fast pinky. Ranma honey is going to have lunch with me," said Ukyo as she walked through the Tendo gates.
Ukyo was followed Niseko and Ryoga.
"Hey guys, I was just helping Ryoga find his way here. So what's going on?" said Niseko.
"Ranma's cute fiancés' are fighting over him again," said Akane.
Akane glared as she saw Shampoo and Ukyo grab Ranma's arms and begin a game of human tug-o-war. Akane then walked over to Niseko and Ryoga saying, "Come on you two, let's go leave Ranma alone with his fiancés."
"Akane, help," called Ranma.
Akane's response was to throw a bucket of cold water at Ranma. Naturally, the bucket splashed both him and Shampoo.
Niseko stared wide-eyed as Ranma ran down the street screaming while a pink cat chased him and duck with glasses chased the cat.
"What was that?" asked Niseko
"Ranma has a fear of cats," laughed Ryoga.
"Is that one of those long stories that I don't yet know," asked Niseko.
"It actually kind of tragic," said Akane.
"Ranma come back," yelled Ukyo as she ran down the street.
"Should we help him...uh…her," asked Niseko.
Akane and Ryoga simply walked away without a second thought.
"So, the yellow Ranger wants to be a better fighter," commented Taro.
"You sound like you have a plan," said Kage.
"Not really. But maybe you could summon a demon that is also a kung fu master. Send it to battle the yellow ranger and completely humiliate her."
"Keep going."
"I had Koruma and Masara create this little device. It will feed off the yellow ranger's insecurities and make the demon stronger as it destroys her."
Taro then held up a gold armband and tossed it Kage who easily caught it.
"It seems like a rehashing of the same plan we used when I unleashed that useless fear demon."
"Not necessarily," chimed in Kiema. "The fear demon fed specifically fed on fear. All the yellow ranger had to do was not be scared anymore and the demon was powerless. With the armband, the demon you summon will keep the strength it gains even if the yellow ranger somehow finds hope."
Kage twirled the gold armband on his fingers for a moment before relenting, "Alright fine. However, if this plan fails, I will hold you two personally responsible. And since this was mostly your idea Taro, I expect you to help."
"Yes my lord," said Kiema and Taro.
"Well then let's get started," said Kage.
Moments later a bipedal insect demon stepped out of the dark portal that Kage opened. The demon was a bright green mantis. Its exoskeleton was like steel and its arms were like a pair of scythes.
"This demon is proficient in the art of mantis kung fu and should serve your plan well," said Kage.
"Thank you master," said Taro.
"Well, get going," yelled Kage.
"So what do you guys wanna do?" asked Niseko.
"I don't care really," said Akane. "You know what, I think I'm just going to go back home."
As Akane left, Niseko noticed Ryoga with a concerned look on his face.
"Something you wanna say?" she asked.
"Can you keep a secret?" asked Ryoga.
"Sure."
"Not too long ago, I would have given anything to have Akane think of me the way she does Ranma."
"Really, what happened? I thought you were with some girl named Akari."
"I am and Akari's great."
Niseko quickly ran up to a soda machine and bought two drinks. She then led Ryoga over to a bench and sat down to continue the conversation.
"So what happened with your crush on Akane?" asked Niseko
"I don't really know. It just kinda faded after I met Akari" said Ryoga
"I get it. She makes you happy. As for Ranma and Akane, anyone can see they are totally into each other."
"That's another reason I gave up on Akane. No matter how much I can offer, her mind will always be stuck on Ranma."
"What will we do with those two?"
Niseko drank the last of her soda and tossed the can.
"Well I got to go. I'm supposed to help mom with some errands. Here take this."
Niseko handed Ryoga some yen.
"What's this for?" asked Ryoga
"So you can by Akari some flowers."
Then Niseko ran off, leaving a very confused Ryoga behind.
Ranma ducked behind a corner, watching Shampoo, Ukyo, and Mousse run by.
"Finally," said Ranma.
"Did we lose them?" said Carmilla.
Ranma looked over his shoulder to find Carmilla standing next to him casually.
"Aw man, why are you here?" said Ranma
"Relax hero, I just dropped by to see you," laughed Carmilla
"Yeah right, and I suppose you have no hidden agenda."
"Not really."
Carmilla then grabbed Ranma's arm and took to the air.
"Let me go," shouted Ranma.
"No, we're going to find you some hot water and change you to a boy."
"I don't need your help to do that."
Ranma charged some ki into her palm and fired it at Carmilla, shouting, "Moko Takabisha."
Carmilla quickly dropped Ranma so she could avoid the blast.
"That was rude," pouted Carmilla. "Well, I guess if it's a fight you want. I'm all too happy to oblige."
Ranma, not wanting to underestimate her opponent, reached for her morpher.
As Ranma transformed into the red ranger, ribbons of darkness began to flow from Carmilla's hands.
"Shadow snare," called Carmilla.
Carmilla didn't even give a second thought to the ghost-like stance that Ranma had taken. Then seconds before her attack could catch Ramna's shadow, he was gone.
Carmila suddenly felt a presence behind her and before she could react, Ranma kicked her to the ground.
"I was ready for your attack this time. You can't catch my shadow if it's not there," laughed Ranma.
"I can see that you adapt quickly. I'll just have to change things up a little that's all," said Carmilla.
Carmilla spread her arms out wide and a blanket of darkness blanketed the area.
Suddenly, many hands started to sprout from the darkness, launching themselves at Ranma.
Ranma quickly dodged the fist as they came towards her and summoned her sword.
Carmilla braced herself as Ranma came closer to her.
Ranma was only two feet away from her when she attempted to slash the bat lady with her sword.
As Ranma struck out, Carmilla quickly blocked with a sword of her own. A small ripple in the wind radiated from the swords as they met. Ranma was quick to note that her sword was a rapier.
"You're good, I'll give you that. But me, I'm magic," laughed Carmilla.
Then she kicked Ranma away and called off her shadow blanket.
No sooner had she done that when Ranma came running towards her again. Carmilla quickly took to the air, leaping over the red ranger and slashing her across the shoulder with her blade.
However as Carmilla came back down, Ranma turned and delivered a kick to her stomach, sending her skidding backwards.
"You ready to give up yet," said Ranma.
"You sure know how to spoil a date hero," said Carmilla.
Ranma was about to attack again when she heard someone calling her on her morpher.
"Ranma, where are you, we could use your help," said Ukyo through Ranma's morpher.
"Looks like you got to run," said Carmila. "Such a shame, I would have liked our fight to go on a little longer."
"Wish I could say the feeling was mutual," said Ranma.
The red ranger was about to leave when she heard Carmilla call, "Wait, take this before you leave." Then Carmilla tossed Ranma a kettle full of hot water.
"If you had this the whole time then what was that about going to look for some. Where were you keeping this anyway?" said Ranma.
"I told you, I'm magic. Besides, I only pretended not to have any hot water so I could spend more time with you."
With that, Carmilla took off.
Ranma brushed her last comment off and experimentally poured out some of the hot water to make sure Carmilla wasn't trying to pull another trick.
After several seconds, nothing happened to the area she poured the water on so Ranma decided to risk it. However, before she could use the water, Ranma heard another familiar voice.
"Wow that was cool," said Niseko
Niseko came running up to the red ranger who wasn't quite prepared to see her.
"Um...hello…Miss. You should leave. It is not safe to be around here," said Ranma.
"Can I at least have your autograph," pouted Niseko as she pulled out a pen and pad from her purse.
As Ranma singed the pad "Red Ranger", Niseko asked, "So who was that bat lady?"
"An annoyance. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go."
"Are you going to fight more bad guys?"
"Yes."
"Be safe Red. You and the other rangers are my new heroes."
Ranma simply nodded and jumped several roofs away with the hot water kettle, leaving her new fan in total awe.
She powered down and poured the water over her head transforming back into a man.
"Guess she wasn't trying to pull anything," said Ranma.
Ranma hit the button to teleport so he could join his friends.
"Stupid Ranma," muttered Akane.
Akane walked through the park trying to think of ways to punish Ranma when she saw him again.
Suddenly she felt a sharp pain on her shoulder and something jumped in front of her vision.
"Your Ranma is probably living it up with his cuter fiancés right now yellow ranger," laughed the Mantis. Already the gold armband around its arm was absorbing Akane's negative feelings.
"It's bad to be around me right now demon," said Akane.
"I disagree."
Akane reached for her morpher screaming, "I need Sheng Xiao power NOW."
Then the yellow ranger and the mantis demon leapt towards eachother.
In midair, Akane summoned her hammer and she could have sworn she hit the Mantis but as she landed back on the ground, she felt another pain in her shoulder.
"That demon is good," said Akane.
"Of course I am," said the Mantis. "I am after all a master of the style named after me while you yourself aren't really a master of anything."
"I've heard just about enough out of you."
Akane pounded her hammer on the ground, causing a tremor.
The Mantis easily leaped out of the way and slashed Akane's shoulder with its scythe-like arms.
Akane jumped away from the Mantis and reached for button on her morpher to call her friends.
The Mantis noticed this and laughed, "What's the matter yellow ranger. Are you too weak to fight fair in a one on one fight."
"What would a demon know about fighting fair?" asked Akane as she took her hand away from her morpher.
"You'll never know if you do nothing but rely on others to fight your battles for you."
It was then that Akane decided to shut the mantis's mouth. The two faced off on opposite ends of the beaten path. A single bird flying by was all they needed for a starting bell.
Akane and the Mantis charged at each other, both of them leaping into the air. Akane lifted her hammer, hoping to smash the Mantis flat. But suddenly, the Mantis spun around in midair so fast that Akane could barely see it. And before she could react, the Mantis kicked her in the stomach, knocking the yellow ranger down to the ground.
"You'll never be able to beat me yellow ranger. I feed off all your insecurities," laughed the Mantis.
"What's that supposed to mean," said Akane.
The Mantis didn't answer, it just renewed its attack. Akane tried her hardest to dodge the strikes but she was starting to get tired while the Mantis still had all its energy and more to spare.
It was when the demon stretched its right arm to attack that Akane saw a gold armband around it. As the fight went on, Akane could start to see an aura radiating from the armband.
Akane grabbed her hammer and tossed it towards the demon. She had to time this perfectly or she would have to come up with a new plan.
As the Mantis easily blocked the hammer, Akane took the small opening and grabbed the armband. Akane gripped the armband as tightly as she could and used all her strength to swing the Mantis in a clockwise circle.
As she continued to swing the Mantis around, she began to feel armband come loose. Akane swung the Mantis around once more and the armband slid off the demons' arm. The Mantis fell down but quickly got up.
Akane tossed the armband away and laughed, "I hope that wasn't important."
"You'll pay for that. Phoenix warriors, attack," shouted the Mantis.
"What happened to a fair one on one fight," said Akane.
"I'm just a demon, what would I know about fighting fair."
Akane reached for her morpher as several bird warriors emerged from the trees.
Ranma teleported to the top floor of a parking garage where he found Shampoo, Mousse, and Ukyo morphed and doing battle with Pantyhose Taro's monster form.
A few seconds later, Ryoga and Konatsu teleported next to him.
"Guess we arrived just in time," said Konatsu.
The three of them morphed and joined the other rangers.
"Why's Taro attacking this time?" asked Ryoga.
"Look at his eyes," said Mousse.
Ranma and the others looked to see that Taro's eyes were pitch-black like Saffron and Kiemas'.
"I guess dark warrior got him too," said Shampoo.
"Where's Akane?" asked Ranma.
"I called her but she wasn't answering," said Ukyo.
Just then, several of Taro's tentacles came down and picked up Ukyo, Ryoga, Mousse, and Konatsu.
"Let them go you pantyhose freak," shouted Ranma.
Taro responded by attempting to smash Ranma with his fist.
Shampoo summoned her chui and sent them flying towards Taro.
Taro easily knocked the weapons away but Shampoo was right behind them. The pink ranger kicked Taro in the jaw, causing him to let go of the other rangers.
Suddenly Akane's voice came everyone's' morpher.
"If anyone can hear me, I need some help," said Akane.
"Great, just like that tomboy to get into some kind of trouble," said Ranma.
Taro quickly interrupted Ranma's train of thought by swatting him off his feet with his large hands.
"Great, I almost forgot about the pantyhose pervert," said Ranma.
"Well, what should we do?" asked Mousse.
Ukyo summoned her spatula and began swatting away Taro's tentacles.
"You guys go. Konatsu and I can handle him," said Ukyo.
"You sure," said Ryoga.
Konatsu threw down a smoke bomb and once the smoke cleared, there were three more green rangers standing before them.
"Trust me, Miss Ukyo and I can handle this," said Konatsu.
Ranma gave them a nod and teleported away with the other rangers.
"Tell me, how does it feel knowing you are about to be destroyed?" said the Mantis.
"You tell me," said Akane.
The yellow ranger leaped towards the Mantis and delivered a powerful jump kick to its head. However, before she could do anything else, several birdmen swooped down and knocked her away from the demon.
As Akane got up, she saw Ranma and the others teleport in front of her.
"I think the odds just shifted Mantis," said Akane.
The other rangers made quick work of the bird warriors. In the end, all that stood was the Mantis.
Shampoo was the first to attack. However, even without the armband, the Mantis was still a kung fu master. As Shampoo go closer, the Mantis ducked under her chui, picked her up and tossed her into a tree.
Ryoga and Mousse attacked next. Ryoga attempted a jump kick only for the Mantis to duck under it.
As the Mantis got up, it saw Mousse swinging his numchuks at it. The Mantis easily avided Mousse's attacks and countered with a few slashes from its arms. It then quickly turned around and kicked Ryoga away.
Since the Mantis was distracted by Mousse and Ryoga, Ranma decided to take the opportunity and attack.
He ran up and attempted an axe kick witch the Mantis easily dodged. Ranma then dashed forward summoning his spear in the process. The Mantis dodged Ranma's spear and counted with a slash.
Ranma took the hit and continued to push the Mantis with his spear.
Akane realized that Ranma wasn't attacking at all. He was just blocking, dodging and pushing back the Mantis's attacks. Ranma was preparing for the Hiryu Shoten Ha.
"Fight back coward," said the Mantis.
"Alright, you asked for it," said Ranma. "Hiryu Shoten Ha."
Ranma uppercutted the Mantis into the sky while summoning a huge tornado in the process.
The winds tossed the Mantis back and forth until eventually, the demon was tossed out of the tornado.
"An opening," said Akane.
Akane dashed forward, followed by Shampoo. Both of them struck the descending Mantis with their weapons.
"I'm not done yet," said the Mantis.
A black feather fell from the sky and imbedded itself into the Mantis.
"We call the zords now Ranma?" asked Shampoo.
"Yeah."
The rangers pointed their morphers to the sky shouting, "We need Zodiac Zord power now."
Ukyo and the four Konatsu's had their hands full with Taro. Every time one of them got close to actually strike Taro, one of his tentacles would swat them away.
Taro laughed at them as he used his massive arms in an attempt to squash the rangers like insects.
Eventually one of the Konatsu's tripped and Taro took the opportunity to squash the green ranger.
Taro took his time stomping towards the fallen ranger, enjoying watching his victim squirm.
Just as he was about to smash one of the Konatsu's flat, the green ranger summoned his daggers and pointed them up.
Taro instantly yanked his hoof back upon contact with the daggers.
"Get him," said Ukyo.
Two Konatsu's quickly leapt up, flinging their daggers at Taro's tentacles, pinning four of them to the ground.
As Taro struggled to get free, Ukyo and the real Konatsu delivered a dual jump kick to Taro's head.
Taro huffed in frustration and tore his tentacles free.
"This guy just won't give up," said Konatsu.
"Don't give up, we can do this," said Ukyo.
"I've got an idea."
Konatsu and two of his clones powered down.
"What are you going to do?" asked Ukyo.
Konatsu smiled and grabbed the front of his shirt and in one swift motion tore it off, revealing a schoolgirl uniform underneath. The other two clones did the same.
Konatsu then pulled a tube of lipstick and quickly applied it.
"Crimson storm," shouted the three kunoichis.
Then in the blink of an eye, they disappeared and reappeared behind Taro.
Taro stood in shock as three kiss marks appeared on his face.
"An opening," said Ukyo.
The clone that didn't power down, attached his daggers to Ukyo's spatula and the white ranger began to twirl her spatula.
Soon Ukyo and the Konatsu clone had created a large energy disc.
"Okonomiyaki Zodiac special," shouted Ukyo as she and the Konatsu clone launched the disc at Taro.
The other three Kontsu's quickly fled the resulting explosion as the disc collided with Taro.
Taro fell to the ground unconscious while the depowered Konatsu's rejoined Ukyo and their clone.
Soon after, the three clones disappeared in a puff of smoke, leaving only one un-morphed Konatsu.
"We did it," shouted Konatsu with glee.
Suddenly a white spatula collided with his head.
"What did I tell you about borrowing my stuff," shouted Ukyo as she took back her lipstick.
"Sorry Miss Ukyo," said Konatsu as metaphorical cartoon birds swirled around his head.
"Besides, that crimson storm attack of yours is just creepy."
"Well it worked didn't it? Besides, I don't think he could tell I was a guy."
"Sometimes I forget myself."
Ukyo sighed, "Come on, we need to go help Ranchan and the others."
Almost as soon as they had called them, the rangers combined their zords to face the Mantis.
"Activating power sword," said Shampoo.
"Let attack now," shouted Akane.
"No wait, look" said Ranma.
The rangers looked at the Mantis and noticed that it wasn't moving.
"I get it," said Mousse. "The Mantis is focusing its energy to take us out with only a few hits."
"Watch it's feet," said Ryoga.
The Megazord stepped forward slowly and the Mantis stepped to the side.
The rangers held their breath in anticipation for the Mantis's next move.
Then the moment the exhaled, the Mantis leaped up into the air and brought its scythes down on the Megazord.
The Megazord countered with a front kick to the Mantis' chest.
As the demon staggered back, the Megazord slashed its shoulder with its sword.
The Mantis countered by grabbing the Megazord's head with its arms and pulling.
"It's pulling us apart," said Mousse.
Then the Mantis was jabbed in the back with a monks' spade.
"Sorry we're late," said Ukyo.
"Need some help," said Konatsu.
The Mantis let go of the Zodiac Megazord and tried to bring its arms down on the Wushu Megazord.
"Not so fast," said Ukyo.
The white ranger typed in several keys and the Wushu Megazord jabbed the Mantis with the crescent side of its spade.
"Quick while it's distracted," said Ranma.
"I'm on it," said Akane as she typed in some commands.
The megazord leapt up into the air and kicked the Mantis several times before landing back on the ground.
"Firing missiles now," said Konatsu.
The moment Konatsu finished typing in the command, two large missiles fired from the Wushu Megazords' shoulder cannons.
However, the Mantis recovered in time and knocked the missiles aside with its arms.
"Not good," said Ukyo.
"Prepare for my ultimate attack," said the Mantis.
Suddenly, the Mantis began to spin around violently until it vanished from sight.
"Where it go," said Shampoo.
Then both Megazords staggered backwards and multiple slash marks appeared on each of them. The Mantis reappeared moments later.
"All systems are critical. The Mantis struck each of our vulnerable spots," said Ryoga.
"How are you two doing on your end Ukyo?" asked Ranma trough his morpher.
"Same as you sugar," said Ukyo.
"Ok guys, time for one last ditch effort," said Ranma. "Ukyo, Konatsu, I need you guys to hold the Mantis and we'll take it from there."
"Got it," said Ukyo.
Kontsu typed in several commands, "Converting the remaining energy Miss Ukyo."
The Wushu Megazord quickly dashed forward and wrapped its spade around the mantis, effectively holding it.
"Mousse, Ryoga, did you finish converting the last of our energy to the core?" asked Ranma.
"Finishing up now," said Mousse as he typed in the last of the commands.
"Ready Akane?" asked Ranma.
"Activating final attack: Zodiac Kick, now," said Akane.
Then the power sword transformed into a ball of energy that flew down to the Megazords' feet.
"Let's end this," shouted Akane.
The Megazord kicked the energy ball with the last of its remaining energy.
"Ukyo, Konatsu, let go now," shouted Ranma.
The wushu megazord quickly let go of the Mantis and dodged to the side just as the energy ball collided with the Mantis, effectively destroying it.
"Please forgive us for our failure my lord," said Kiema while she bowed down.
"Just get out of my sight you fools," said Kage as he turned away from Kiema and Taro.
Kiema quickly grabbed the bandaged up Taro and dragged him from the room.
"Can't win them all huh Kiema," said Koruma.
"Get away from me now or you'll wind up like him," said Kiema motioning to Taro who was still unconscious.
Kage meanwhile sat back in his throne twirling the golden armband in his hand. He instructed the bird warriors to bring it back after the yellow ranger tossed it.
"At least this day wasn't a total loss," said Kage.
Then he gripped the armband and absorbed all of the negative energy that was store inside.
"That feels good," he said as he tore the armband apart with his bare hands.
The next day Akane decided to once again ask Ranma to train her.
The two of them were in Dr. Tofu's office so Ranma could some. After his fights with Carmilla, Taro, and the Mantis, Ranma was feeling a bit sore and decided to see if Tofu could help. The doctor had left the room in order to get some tea, leaving the two alone.
"No," replied Ranma again.
"Ranma please. What if I'm caught by myself again?"
"Then just call me or one of the others for help."
"And what if that's not an option?"
"Can't we talk about something else?"
Akane suddenly got right in Ranma's face.
"What if someone like Saffron catches me out in the open," she said.
Ranma froze. Both of them were still very touchy about the subject of Saffron and Jusendo. It was then that Ranma realized that this was an argument that he was better off not winning.
Ranma hung his head down, "I hate it when you're right. It's just that, I don't want to see you get hurt."
Ranma quickly covered his mouth after realizing what he just said.
Akane blushed at his admission but continued to talk, "Don't worry so much. Nothing bad will happen."
"Fine, we'll start, first thing when we get back."
It took all of Akane's willpower not hug Ranma at that point.
"Alright, let's get started," said Dr. Tofu as he reentered the room.
Tofu put his hand around Ranma's neck getting ready to crack it.
Then Ranma was reminded of why he tried not to go to Dr. Tofu for simple things like soreness.
"Hello is anyone here. I brought over some left over cake," called Kasumi.
Suddenly, the doctors' glasses fogged up and he violently twisted Ranma's neck to the left.
Ranma let out a long scream followed by, "I can't move my neck back."
"Oh you're fine Akane," said Dr. Tofu.
"I think we better leave," said Akane while grabbing Ranma's arm and running out of the clinic with him.
"I wonder where they're off too," said Kasumi as she ventured into Tofu's office.
As Akane and Ranma walked back to the dojo, Ranma grunted, "I think we'll start training tomorrow. I just hope that I'll be able to turn my head by then."
"Hey guys, what's going on?" said Niseko as she ran up.
Akane and Ranma's eyes went wide when her shirt featured a picture of them as power rangers on it.
"I forgot to tell you Akane, we have a fan," said Ranma before Niseko came into earshot.
Then a splash of water hit Ranma, transforming him into a girl.
"Hello Ranma, It's been awhile," said Happosai as he bounced onto Ranma's chest.
"What is that," said Niseko.
"Oh boy, a new friend," said Happosai as he jumped from Ranma to Niseko.
"Get it off, get it off," shouted Niseko.
After Ranma grabbed the old lecher off Niseko, she asked, "So where have you been old man?"
"I just went on a small treasure hunt. I buried some valuables a long time ago and I thought it was time to dig them up. I even got you something Akane. It's a little too small for Ranma," said Happosai while holding up a leather corset.
"Just die already," screamed Ranma as she booted Happosai away.
"Looks like he got you again Ranma," said Akane.
Ranma looked down to see that Happosai had once again stolen her shirt.
