Seto was watching Yugi. His eyes followed every movement Yugi made; not in a weird way, just quietly observing from his deck where he had a good view of him and the surroundings of the city. Mokuba was making noise somewhere downstairs, probably eating or playing video games.

Where is Yugi going? Seto pondered. He just left his ridiculous geek squad behind. Why would he do that? He never goes anywhere without those pathetic losers. Seto's blue eyes glistened bright in the sunlight. He was filled with a deep curiosity that only grew as he secretly watched Yugi make his way towards the Kaiba mansion. Seto raised his eyes and shook his head. No Yugi, you fool. Go back. You don't belong here. Yugi kept walking. Seto groaned. Of course Yugi couldn't hear Seto's thoughts as he continued getting closer to the front gates of Kaiba's big mansion. Good old Yugi seemed to be in high spirits and had a big smile on his face. He looked happy. Seto raised his eyebrows again at him and blinked. Interesting. If I didn't know any better, Yugi appears to be coming over here because he wants to talk to me. Is that why he's happy? Very interesting but why? Kaiba opened his mouth to call out his name, but hesitated when he saw what the short duelist was doing now. Yugi had stopped walking and was feeling around in his pockets. He pulled out his deck of cards and sat down on the ground. Seto's face grew big. He stared hard at Yugi's expression trying to read his mind. Yugi's face changed to sad and alone all of a sudden. Seto stared. This was a familiar sight to him. One he always saw looking back at him whenever he saw himself in a mirror. His younger brother knew this look all too well. Seto lowered his face and put his hands on the railing. Yugi... He is like me, Seto thought...alone in this world because of our superiority. Marked with hatred from all because we are better than everyone else. Seto's hands flew to his head in bitterness. No! Dammit what am I thinking?! He is nothing like me! He'll never come close to becoming like me! He will forever stand in my shadow because that's where he belongs! Seto glared at Yugi, but gasped when he felt an unknown feeling overcome his mind. He had been hit with a sensation he had never wanted to feel before. An image of him and Yugi as friends. Two fighters happily joined together on a team. What? Was this really going through his mind now? He questioned his feelings. Did he like it? Was this something he wanted? Maybe he did. It caused him confusion. Seto tried to breathe and relax a little but he felt dizzy. Are these really my own feelings? He began to fear a strange inner presence within him as if he too had someone else's spirit living inside him. Seto remained lost in his deep thinking world, and had no clue a tall thin man was standing behind him grinning.

"Come now Kaiba-Boy. You really mustn't stare at innocent folk who are merely wandering around town just because you're bored and have nothing better to do! Some might find that just a bit creepy!"

Pegasus was standing in the doorway behind Seto. He had one hand in his pocket and a wine glass in the other. A wicked grin was smothered on his face as he stared Seto down with his menacing, cold eyes.

Seto turned around so fast Pegasus almost flinched. Instead, he laughed mockingly at Seto's angry face with no detection of fear. "Come now, Kaiba-Boy. You can't hurt me! You can't even try! You would have done so already. You should just admit you're scared of me! Go ahead, say it! I know you know what I am capable of doing to little Mokuba..."

"Enough! You monster!" Seto lunged at Pegasus again, this time hitting him hard enough for him to drop his glass.

Pegasus groaned as he looked down at the dark spots on his red coat. "Gosh darn it! I just had this dry cleaned! Curse you Kaiba! Whatever has got you so wound up?! You always seem so pissed off when I bring Mokuba into the conversation. I don't know why, you should never let your spirit be broken Kaiba-Boy! Why, Mokuba is the perfect example! Oh yes, as we speak your dear brother is downstairs making dinner for us yet here you are trying to pick a fight with me! This just isn't right! What would all the people think? Your sanity would be questioned for sure! I can see the headlines now! Seto Kaiba has lost his mind! You wouldn't want that now would you Seto Kaiba?! Remember, image is everything!" Pegasus threw his hands freely into the air and laughed. "Oh I do hope dinner is almost ready. I haven't eaten all day! Plus, the excitement of seeing you again Kaiba, has really made my appetite go up! Oh my, oh my!"

Seto glared at Pegasus with the utmost disgust, but gasped when he thought of what Pegasus said about seeing Mokuba downstairs. "No! You wouldn't! Ahh! Mokuba!" No answer. The only noise that could be heard was the rapid breathing of Seto. He wouldn't dare touch him again would he? Seto approached Pegasus aggressively and grabbed him by the collar. "Damn you Pegasus! What did you say to my brother?! You better not have touched him!"

Pegasus shook his head and put up his hand. "On the contrary Kaiba-Boy, Mokuba doesn't at all mind me here! Why, what exactly have you been telling him about me? Making up stories are we? Shame on you Kaiba! That is just not cool! You're supposed to be the mature grown up you know!"

Seto rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. He was never in the mood for playing Pegasus's innocent happy talk game. The more Pegasus acted like he and Seto should be friends or that no hard feelings existed between them, the more Seto wanted to slit his throat. He was at the point where he couldn't take any more from him. "Shut the hell up Pegasus! You Psychopath! Stay away from my brother, and I mean it! Don't make me say it again, or I will say it with my fist!" Seto gave his nemesis a look not even Yugi had seen.

"Oh my, that's a scary look! Come now Kaiba, must you always talk this way to me?! Why can't we just be friends? I've been waiting so long! Oh wait, I know! It's kind of like your relationship with little Yugi-Boy isn't it? You guys aren't really friends either, are you Kaiba-Boy?! Or is it you can't be friends with someone who is naturally better than you?" Pegasus threw back his head and laughed. "Hahahahahaha!" He was hurting Kaiba's pride and loving every second of it. "Aww, poor Kaiba! I actually feel sorry for you! You're all alone, with no one to turn to but your little brother, but even he may leave you! It'll happen at your darkest hour!" Pegasus took a peek into Seto's heart. "Admit it Kaiba, that very thought has crossed your mind."

Seto felt weak. He put his hands to his head and ears to block out those poisoning words from staying in his head. It was too late. Pegasus had struck the sensitive part of him that was extremely vulnerable. Seto was angrier more than ever. Part of him wanted to kill Pegasus right here and now. Yet, another part of him didn't care what he said because it was all a lie. Seto stepped closer to the door where Pegasus was standing.

"Seto!" Mokuba's squeaky voice could be heard from inside the house.

Seto gasped. "Mokuba! I'm coming Mokuba!" He ran towards the door, getting ready to stab Pegasus with the knife in his pocket if he should try to stop him. To his surprise, Pegasus voluntarily moved out of his way without a fuss.

"Yes, Kaiba-Boy. Run along and see Mokuba. He may need your help, or someones help!" Pegasus laughed his evil laugh again. Just try and save your precious brother now Kaiba! You won't be able to! Muhahahahaha! He kept laughing even when he saw that look of hatred in Seto's eyes as he blazed past him.

Seto wished he had a gun or a sword at that moment. If he did, he would use them both to annihilate Pegasus once and for all. That way he wouldn't have to deal with him anymore. He turned his attention back to his brother and kept running out of Pegasus's sight. He ran down the hall barely breathing. He was sweating down his shirt from all the emotion he was feeling. He had a bad feeling Pegasus was up to something. Seto first checked Mokuba's room since it was on the way downstairs. He pulled the door back anxiously and peered in. "Mokuba?" No answer. Seto was afraid of that. He left and started towards the kitchen where Pegasus had mentioned that possibly being where Mokuba was at. "Damn you Pegasus!" Seto started breathing now, but it was out of frustration. He practically flew down the stairs and jumped over the last three. He cut the corner of the kitchen and stopped dead in his tracks.

Mokuba was on the floor with his eyes closed and not moving. Seto let out a high pitched scream. "Nooo! Mokuba!" Seto was on his knees and by his brother's side in an instant. He took his hand and felt for a heartbeat. Mokuba was alive. Seto looked around for any signs of evidence explaining the meaning of this. There was nothing, but it seemed he had definitely been poisoned or something. Seto bent over and put his head down. "Why Pegasus? Why are you doing this again? What do you want from me?" Seto looked at his brother. Mokuba still wasn't moving or even showing signs of breathing. This scared Seto. He picked Mokuba up and put him on his back. "Hang on little brother. I won't leave you alone again. I will carry you up to my room and watch over you. I'll make sure no one bothers us." He was going to call his private family doctor to see what was wrong with Mokuba. He didn't dare go out and risk running into Pegasus again. Though Pegasus could always come in like he did before. "Damn, there's just no end to this!" He kicked a vitamin bottle out of his way as he left the kitchen.

...

Yugi had his favorite card in his hand. It was the Dark Magician. He treasured this card greatly. If he ever lost it or had someone take it from him, he would be very sad. A slight smile crept over his face as he thought back to all the times this card had pulled him out of trouble. He placed the card against his heart and closed his eyes. The wind was blowing fast, making Yugi's teeth chatter slightly as he pulled he jacket closer to him. It was late fall now. The trees surrounding him were colorful and pretty to look at. Tea would definitely point them out and probably insist on taking several pictures of them. Joey would most likely be dancing around in the leaves and be throwing them all around like a little kid. Tristan would be laughing at Joey, calling him names, and telling him he was hopeless. This of course, only made Joey want to fight him. Tristan always poked fun at Joey for being such a dimwit all the time. Yes, Yugi loved his friends very much. Even if they were an odd group. Somehow it just all fit that way. There was just one or maybe two people missing from his circle of friends. Speaking of odd, there was a noise coming from Kaiba's front door as it closed shut. A man dressed in red came strolling down the walkway. Yugi picked himself up to get a better look, hoping the stranger wouldn't see him. Too late. Pegasus had seen him and waved excitedly.

"Well hello Yugi-Boy! Fancy seeing you around here, so close to Kaiba! Is everything alright? Were you going to join Kaiba-Boy for tea or maybe one of your infamous duels?! I believe the old boy is inside but here's a little warning Yugi-Boy. I don't think he is in the best of moods! He seems to be rather upset!" Pegasus threw back his head and burst into mocking laughter. "What am I saying? When is he not upset? Kaiba-Boy is always in a bad mood! He needs to cheer up, wouldn't you agree Yugi-Boy? Perhaps you can help him with that." Pegasus gave Yugi a wink and kept walking. "Later Yugi-Boy!"

Yugi stood there in the street with him mouth open watching Pegasus leave. That was strange. Was Pegasus trying to tell me I should check up on Kaiba? Wasn't he just in there though? An image of Pegasus trapping Kaiba and Mokuba's souls flashed across Yugi's mind. Yugi gasped. Would he do that again?! Maybe...Those two do hate each other!

Yugi's thoughts were interrupted by a loud scream that could only belong to Kaiba. It came from inside his home.

Yugi gasped. It sounded like Kaiba was in trouble or maybe it was Mokuba?! "Kaiba! Oh no!" Yugi had to go see what was going on. He started to walk towards the door but found himself hesitating. He wasn't used to saving people by himself, or was he not used to doing it without the Pharaoh by his side? Joey and the others have always been by my side too. Yugi looked back to where he had left his friends. Now, I have shut them out and is it because of my sadness or is it something else? I think in truth I am afraid to do anything without them. They have always given me the courage to keep fighting even when I was alone.

"Go help him Yugi. It's alright."

Yugi jumped. He turned around to look, but no one was there. "Hello? His voice was shaky. Is someone there?" Yugi could have sworn he heard something.

"Trust your heart Yugi. You know what the right thing to do is. There is no need to question it. You have always done the right thing, and I have always been proud of you."

The voice seemed to be coming from his head, but it was out loud as though there was an actual person talking to him. The only problem was he couldn't see anyone anywhere. That voice, why does it sound so familiar?

"Are you forgetting me, Yugi?"

"Pharaoh?! No! Never! Where are you?"

"I am here, Yugi."

"Where? I don't see you."

"I am in your heart, Yugi."

The Pharaoh was now in front of him. He put his hand on the card Yugi was stilling holding. "Remember, always believe in the heart of the cards, Yugi."

Yugi looked into the Pharaoh's eyes. He felt a hand on his shoulder. "Go help Kaiba now, Yugi. I'll be back."

"But I thought..." Yugi's voice trailed off.

The Pharaoh had disappeared. Yugi looked down at the card in his hand. He knew what he had to do.

"Hang on Kaiba, I'm coming!"

Yugi took off running. Seto Kaiba needed his help, and he was going to help him.

To be continued...
