Mike's POV
I had a troubled sleep filled with thoughts of Jennifer dying. Once I was convinced that I wouldn't be able to sleep any longer, I sat up on the fold up bed. Jennifer was still unconscious but there wasn't as much of a blue tint to her skin anymore. The clock on the wall said that it was 8:00. I went to the family lounge and took a bagel and a cup of coffee back to Jennifer's room. I sat down and slowly ate my breakfast. I washed my face, shaved, brushed my teeth, and combed my hair before Davy, Micky, and Peter arrived. "Her color looks more normal today," Davy smiled. "Did the doctor come by yet?" Micky asked. "Not yet," I answered. We must have been in a daze because we noticed Jennifer's fingers move. I rushed to her bedside. "You can do it Jennifer," I said excitedly. Her eyelids flutter a few times before opening. "Hello," Jennifer said with a raspy voice. I can't remember the last time I smiled this wide. "Hey Jennifer. Let me get the doctor," I replied. I went into the hallway and found the doctor going out of another room. "Jennifer's awake," I practically shouted at him. "That's wonderful," he replied as we walked into her room. Jennifer was propped up on some pillows. "It's good to see you awake Jennifer. We didn't know if you would even make it through the night. Tell me how you feel," the doctor instructed. Well, my ankle feels a bit swollen but that's probably because of the snake bite. My throat is kind of sore," Jennifer replied. "That makes sense. We had to put a breathing tube down your throat for the surgery," he explained pouring her a glass of water and handing it to her. The doctor proceeded to shine a flashlight into her eyes. "Her pupils are back to a normal size. We'll take a last CT Scan to make sure all the swelling is gone and then you should be able to leave," he reported.
The nurse took Jennifer for the test. "Is there anywhere we can get some food around here? I'm starving," Micky complained. "There's food in the family lounge. Didn't you guys eat any breakfast?" I questioned. "Well, we were so worried about Jennifer that we forgot about breakfast before we left for the hospital," Peter answered. I slapped my forehead. "I'm gone for one day and you guys don't eat breakfast. Go get some food in the lounge across the hall," I told them shaking my head. They walked quickly out of the room and returned with bagels and orange juice. Micky, Davy, and Peter ate them hungrily. "Much better," they said when they were finished. The nurse and doctor came back with Jennifer. "Her brain is all better. You can be discharged now. Just remember to drink enough fluids and eat enough since went pretty much a day without food and water. Also, get plenty of rest, don't walk on that ankle till it's not swollen anymore, and take it easy for the next few days," the doctor instructed. "I will," Jennifer promised. The doctor patted her shoulder and shook our hands. "Thank you so much doctor for everything," I said sincerely. "You're welcome. I'm glad everything worked out," the doctor replied before looking after the rest of his patients.
We left the room so Jennifer could get dressed. Once she was ready, we left the hospital with a few bagels in our hands. I carried Jennifer out of the hospital. To my surprise, a car was outside. "We told our managers about what happened to Jennifer and they arranged a car for us to drive to the airport with and a private flight back to California," Davy explained. "Great. We'll probably visit with Aunt Kate for a little while before leaving though," I replied. "Of course," they agreed. We got into the car and drove to the ranch. Jennifer ate the bagels on the way.
Jennifer's POV
I was greeted by a huge hug from Aunt Kate when we got to the ranch. "I was so worried about you darlin'. I meant to give you your surprise yesterday so close your eyes," she said. A minute or two later, I heard the sound of hooves. "Open your eyes," Aunt Kate instructed. I opened my eyes and saw Sapphire next to me. "I rode her the day I got bit by the snake. Thank you so much," I exclaimed. "Michael told me how much you loved horses so I thought it would be the perfect present. Plus, I saw that you and Sapphire took a mutual liking to each other and I'm sure Duke would like some company," Aunt Kate replied. "He would," I agreed. "I've arranged for Sapphire to arrive in California in about four days" she informed us.
We visited with Aunt Kate for a few more hours before we left the ranch. Mike drove us to the airport and we boarded our private jet. Mike carried me because I'm not supposed to walk on my ankle yet. It felt really strange to have a whole plane all to ourselves but it was really nice. There were DVD players set up on the back of all the seats, a couple beds, a couch, and a food area in the back on the plane. Mike set me down on the couch. "It might not be a bad idea for you to catch some shut eye while we fly," he advised. "But this is my first time on this cool plane," I complained. "Trust me, after a week of touring like this you'll get used to it," Mike replied. "Alright," I agreed. Davy tossed me a pillow. I got myself comfortable and fell asleep.
A few hours later, I felt someone nudging my shoulder. "We're home," Mike told me. He scooped me into his arms and we walked down the plane ramp. Thankfully, there was no paparazzi or fans at the airport. One of our touring transportation men picked us up and drove us to the pad. Mike, Peter, and Davy were busy unloading our luggage from the car so Micky carried me inside. "My princess," he exclaimed as he marched around the kitchen. Micky set me down on the couch. "Do you know what time it is?" I asked. "It's almost six o'clock. We should eat. Hey Mike, can I order pizza for us?" he asked. "That would be great Mick," Mike answered. Micky quickly dialed the nearest pizza place and ordered two pizzas for delivery. I decided to catch a few minutes of sleep before it got here.
Twenty minutes later, Davy woke me up. "The pizza's here. You've been so tired love. Are you alright?" he asked. "I think so. It's probably just because of being in the hospital and all," I answered. Davy picked me up and set me down on my chair at the table. Alll of us helped ourselves to some pizza. It was delicious. I ate more than I usually would have because I didn't eat for a day. I had a glass of lemonade for a change of pace. "Does anybody want some chocolate chip cookies?" Mike asked. "Me," I answered excitedly. Mike chuckled and handed me the bag of cookies. I eagerly put a few on my plate. "I didn't think we had any cookies here when we left," Peter said. "Our director dropped them off when he heard that Jennifer was in the hospital," Mike explained. "That's so sweet," I replied. "All the crew is so excited that they'll have someone to spoil," Mike said. I laughed.
All of us decided to go to bed early because of all the traveling and unfortunate events that happened in Texas. I washed my face, brushed my teeth, and put on some pajamas before hopping into bed. Mike and Davy got ready for bed and joined me in our bedroom. "Goodnight guys," I said sleepily. "Goodnight Jennifer," they replied. We fell asleep quickly.
