Chapter 11: JJ.
After breakfast, I went up to my room and got changed quickly. "Spence? Have you seen my backpack anywhere?" I said, knocking on his door. "Yeah, I borrowed it last week" he replied opening the door and handing me it. "What will I do about you know...my face? Dad doesn't want anyone to know about what happened!" he said, terrified. "Um...you could say we went for a walk in the forest and we were climbing a tree and you fell on your face?" I suggested, shivering at the thought of the forest. I had always had a fear about the forest, but after what had happened last night...I hoped I'd never have to set foot inside it again, hopefully for the rest of my life. "Yeah that's a good idea, thanks jayje!" he replied walking back into his room.
As soon as I had packed stuff for the beach, I ran downstairs to pack food. As I was making sandwiches, I heard the door-bell ring and my dad shouting 'I'll get it!'. I snuck out into the hall...and was shocked to see Emily and her dad there, but what shocked me more was who she was introducing herself as.
"Hello?" Doyle said opening the door. "Hi! I'm Luke Renault!" said her dad, who I knew as Clyde Easter, "we talked on the phone earlier about the jobs?". "Oh yeah!" my dad replied. "I'm Lauren Reynolds!" said Emily, smiling sweetly at my dad. "Hi Lauren! You said you could speak several languages?" he replied. "Yeah, I speak Irish, French, Spanish, Ru-" She was cut off when I tripped over a pair of runners and fell onto my dad's foot. "Jennifer, how long have you been standing there and how much of this conversation did you here?!" my dad snapped at me, nudging me painfully into the rib with his foot. "I just walked out of the kitchen dad!" I replied, standing up and rubbing my side. I tried to get Emily's attention, but she was avoiding eye contact with me, so I stopped. "We're heading out to the beach now dad!" I said quickly, grabbing my bag. I kissed his cheek quickly and walked outside. Spencer joined me a few minutes later and we set off together for the beach.
