I know; I usually go back and forth between fics. That's been part of my problem this time around: I've hit a proverbial mental wall. Maybe working on this one will help me figure out a way past it.

So… NOW ONTO THAT UPLOAD!

(Chapter Begin)

(Recap)

"TAKATO!" said Rika in concern.

"HOW DARE YOU, YOU FIEND!" shouted a familiar voice.

"Again!? Must you nuisances NOT know your place!?" gripped Makuramon, using an energy ball and shattering it before sending the shards at Leomon, knocking him down to the ground.

"LEOMON!" cried Jeri, running up, true concern in her voice.

Rika and Henry, though drained, weren't as bad off as Takato, and could stay standing as they witnessed Jeri get her Digivice and healed Leomon up.

"Okay…" smiled Rika, too tired to hide her humor, "That just happened."

"Indeed. Now we need to get Takato out of here before anything else happens," added Henry, their Digimon DeDigivolving, as they picked up Takato, then turned to their friends, "What happened?"

Kazu and Kenta had shown up with Jeri, bearing the unfortunate news.

"Well, after about five minutes after you left, we decided we couldn't stand around while you put yourselves in danger," said Kazu, "And don't give us those looks, we knew the risk. Anyways, on our way over here, Makuramon showed up, that freaky kid you were trying to warn us about, shut down whatever was happening above the building, and kidnapped Calumon. You saw what happened from there.

"No two ways about it," said Rika, glancing over at Renamon, who was carrying Guilmon with medium difficulties, "We ARE going to the Digital World, and we ARE getting OUR friend back."

The other three humans looked to her in awe, seeing her for the queen she was, the second-in-command when their leader was down. They would follow her, and Takato, to the Digital World to get back Calumon.

(Recap End)

A few days passed in the aftermath of Vikaralamon's minute assault, and while the damage was a fraction of what it had been last time, reconstruction wasn't going to be finished for a while.

The Tamers, now with four official members, were trying to act normal, and reassure their families everything was fine. Takato had been out for several hours, and ultimately made the decision to reveal Guilmon earlier rather than later. His parents reacted practically the same. However, while explaining it didn't help much, he did inform them of how much it meant to him to receive their blessing and that he promised to come back in one piece.

Rika had a heartfelt moment with her mother, but ultimately decided to wait until she returned from the Digital World to inform her about Renamon. It didn't hurt anything last time, and Rumiko actually enjoyed Renamon's company. After a certain Train incident, Renamon eventually joined Rumiko on a photo-shoot (in the background so no one would get her on camera) and Renamon managed to provide some insight Rumiko hadn't considered. Rika hoped that this time around, things would feel more natural between the four members of the Nonaka Family.

(AN1)

Henry and his father managed to keep things on the down low around the ladies of the household, even Suzie, who had a close call with Terriermon. Janyu wasn't exactly happy with Henry's decision concerning the Digital World, but relented as he couldn't do anything to stop him. Instead, he contacted Yamaki, informing him of what the Tamers intend to do.

Jeri had the hardest time, since she had the biggest adjustment after said event. After heading downstairs, she grabbed some OJ and returned up to her room, despite her father's calls on rules. As much as she loved her father, she still needed to do this. Stepping outside, she passed her new partner, Leomon, the juice and held the bottom of the open area of her room's window with her hands.

"Thank you for the juice; It's really good," said Leomon, before noticing her state, "Is everything okay?"

"I was just wondering… what is the Digital World like?" asked Jeri.

"It's very beautiful," replied Leomon, remembering some of the areas that held a natural beauty, "But it's incredibly dangerous. Someone like you shouldn't go."

"I understand that, but I don't really care about the danger. You're there, my friends will be there; I know things will turn out okay."

(AN2)

"Then why…?"

"I have many reasons for wanting to go," interrupted Jeri, looking at Leomon with a determined expression, "First and foremost I want to make up the way I acted when we first met. While short lived, the fact that I acted like a fangirl is unforgivable. None of my friends ever had it that bad… for anyone they liked. I guess it was special circumstances that I got to actually meet you."

"Well, I will admit, that was a very scary site to see. I hope there's no relapses, or further cases," replied Leomon, and Jeri chuckled, taking no offense.

"Second, I want to learn more about Takato. I don't know if he has noticed or not, but I've seen him at times and it's a completely different Takato than the one I've known these past few years. I think I might have a crush on him, but I honestly don't know how deep these feelings might be or how he feels about me in return. Third, I like to see new places, and heading to the Digital World will be a great excuse to travel. A little less serious and a bit more petty, I know, but still…"

"I enjoy traveling as well, and being allowed into the Human World was something I too found to be an excuse to travel myself. Though short lived, I've seen many things around the city. It's quite beautiful and I would love to return here one day to explore more this world has to offer… within reason of course."

"Of course," smiled Jeri, "But my final reason is something that I'm not even sure I WANT to find out."

"What's that?"

"Who I truly am, and what I'm made of," explained Jeri, "I don't know why, but I feel like if go to the Digital World, I'll learn more about myself on top of everything else, and should it turn out badly, I'm not sure I would want to go through with it."

"Jeri," said Leomon seriously, to get her attention, "You are truly a pure soul. Not many, even your age, ever stay so pure of heart. You have a Lion's heart, and never forget that courage is deep inside you. I don't know what lies ahead myself, but for good or ill, I will stay by your side… no matter what."

(AN3)

With the hardest part of having the parents (minus Rika's mother) informed; the next hardest part was Miss Asaji. It didn't help that her voice sounded a LOT like Hikari's in the show. So, instead of putting drama in detention, they all decided to write a letter and leave it for her to find after the day was done. Unfortunately, she found it, and ran out to stop them.

"STOOOPP!" shouted Miss Asaji.

"Well, that didn't take long," sighed Rika.

"What do you think your doing! You can't just skip school!" scolded Miss Asaji.

"We don't want to, but unfortunately, we have other responsibilities that take priority right now," said Takato, taking the leadership role.

"But… you're just kids! Do you even KNOW how dangerous those Digimon are!?" countered Miss Asaji.

"Yep," said Rika, if a little bluntly, "And while there should be adult special task forces for something like this… it's kinda up to us… I mean, have you even SEEN the Digimon show?"

"Seen it," growled Miss Asaji, "I VOICE ACTED KARI IN THAT!"

This got their attention… but it did explain the familiarity to the Time Traveling group.

"I don't like how they show that kids are willingly putting their lives on the line! You are so young! If you die, then everything you have done will have been for nothing!"

"Miss Asaji, just like the kids in the show, we're the ONLY ones with the knowledge and the means of fighting back," replied Takato, "You saw that pig. If we left this alone, something like that will be a blessing compared to the potential damage done to this world."

"It's still not right!" insisted Miss Asaji, "That show was intentionally written in a way that kept the humans from dying. The Digidestined were protected by Plot Convenience! This is real life!"

'Okay, better not tell her otherwise, but still,' thought Takato, before speaking up, "And there's a reason why the term 'vigilante' exists. Yes, we're going outside the rules and laws that keep us safe; however, we have the power, and as such the responsibility to do this. If we don't, then it's on us if this world gets attacked again!"

(AN4)

"Please understand, Miss Asaji," added in Jeri, "If there was another way, we would take it!"

"Yeah," spoke up Kazu, "We appreciate that you care, but we must ask that you put your faith in us."

"We don't know when we'll return, but until then," finished Kenta, "We just need you to trust us."

Even thought they hadn't fully convinced Miss Asaji, they really needed to head out. The best they could do was walk away, despite how much it hurt to leave her in this condition.

Everyone made it to the park before too long. Leomon and Renamon had made their way there earlier and were waiting on the others to get there, Leomon having followed Renamon's lead.

"Alright, remember guys, we have to stay together," said Rika.

"Kazu, Kenta," added Takato, "Make sure to be with one of us the entire time. You get separated, you pretty much on your own."

"HEY! We know the rules!" protested Kazu.

"Really?" quipped Rika, "this coming from someone who once denied the existence of Digimon when it was right in front of him."

Kazu turned red from frustration, Kenta had a slight embarrassing red himself. Luckily for them, someone interrupted.

"So, you think you're all set to head out, huh?" said a voice familiar to the group.

Everyone turned to see Yamaki walk up.

"What are you doing here?" asked Kazu.

"Janyu sent me a message, informing me of your plans. I had to work all night to get this completed," replied Yamaki, taking out a device and tossing it to Takato, who caught it.

"Thanks, Yamaki," said Takato.

"Don't thank me, Hazardous one," said Yamaki, getting the attention of the others, "Just do everyone a favor: don't die over there. You're still under contract; so by law, I'm responsible for this group of yours, even in the Digital World."

"Thank you," said Henry.

"We can't make any promises," added Rika, still feeling uncomfortable around him, "But we'll do our best!"

"I guess that's as much as I can hope for," said Yamaki, "Best of luck."

And with that, Yamaki walked away, allowing them to head forward… into the Digital World.

Accessing the portal was easy… traversing the lanes in-between was the trick.

(AN5)

Not long after walking through the bright field (the time travelers having remembered their eye-protection equipment), a loud sound pierced through the area and everyone shifted positions. Unfortunately, this led to a debate on directions and everyone fell to what was decided as 'down'. After falling for what felt like minutes, everyone finally hit bottom and tried to recover from the landing.

'Okay,' thought Takato, getting up, 'we're here several hours earlier than before. Anything we can do to pass the time?'

'I'm not sure about time, but I know our bread made it through,' replied Guilmon.

'Well, that's supper,' smiled Takato, as he took one final look around before addressing the 'troops', "Okay, guys. We have the night ahead of us. We need to set up a camp that we can both have protection and a good vantage point."

"Jeri, you're with me," added Rika, "Leomon, stay."

"Why?" asked Kazu.

"Because, visor-boy…" started Rika, before Henry took over.

"Let the girls have their privacy, Kazu."

"Thank you, Brainiac," replied Rika, as she and Jeri walked around one of the giant rocks alongside Renamon.

Once there, Renamon reached into Rika's bag and brought out a large sheet, along with a few sticks, which they used as a makeshift tent.

"Okay, that should give us cover for the night," informed Rika as she took out her bedroll.

"Thanks Rika," said Jeri, "It would have felt awkward to sleep next to the guys. I'm sure my dad would have something to say as well."

"No problem, Jeri," replied Rika, before looking serious, "You doing okay so far?"

"That fall really threw me off," replied Jeri, honestly, "But I'm better now. I'm ready to start exploring… well, all together that is."

"Best course of action for now. Bring anything to eat?"

"Of course," said Jeri, taking out one small item from her provisions and sharing it with Rika and Renamon, while Rika did the same.

(AN6)

After everyone had supper, they settled in for a good night's rest, hoping to start tomorrow fresh and ready.

The next morning, everyone gathered everything back up and started finding out where to go. Upon seeing towers in the distance, it was agreed to head there, for all the complaining given by the 'not yet tamers'. Several hours and an exhausted group later, they approached the towers, only to find they were made of rocks. Deciding to stop for another night, especially as the 'trifecta' of leadership endorsed it.

As the evening came, all too quickly for the Tweedletwins, they decided to settle in for another meal. Unfortunately, this one held a visitor.

"Of course," groaned Rika, noticing a light atop one of the towers, "Our luck has run out finally. Get ready Renamon."

Renamon nodded, focusing her eyes to where the light was. After it revealed itself to be a Meramon, Renamon teleported behind him and knocked him off the cliff, sending him crashing below, thankfully not landing on anyone.

"OW!" groaned Meramon, rubbing his neck before noticing those around him, "Hey, you're new around here, aren't you?"

"Yep. Were you trying to attack us?" asked Takato.

"Well, I thought you were some pests that had been trying to take over my territory, but you got the drop on me instead," replied Meramon, standing up, before realizing something else, "Hey, you're not Digimon, you're Humans!"

"Whatever gave you that idea, Sherlock?" muttered Rika under her breath, getting a nudge from Henry.

"Anyways, I'm wondering if you can help us," continued Takato, as if his girlfriend didn't interrupt, "We're looking for a few Digimon."

He took out the pictures he drew of Calumon and Makuramon.

"This is our friend Calumon," clarified Takato, showing Calumon's picture, before pointing to the monkey, "And this is the Deva, Makuramon."

"Deva you say?" contemplated Meramon, "I travel around this area a lot and I can't say I've seen a Deva in these parts for quite some time. And your friend, he looks completely new. I didn't think there was a Digimon like this, though this area is very small compared to the vast Digital World itself. I wish I could be of more help, sorry."

"It's okay. We didn't expect to be this lucky," replied Takato.

"You know, I always believed that going to the Human world was a Myth, but you yourselves are living proof that it can be done," chuckled Meramon in a melancholy way, "I wish to become strong enough to reach there myself."

"Meramon, my friend, I'm not entirely sure that raw strength is what's necessary," informed Leomon, "I may be the newest addition to this group, but as you can see, these are all naturally Rookie Digimon, meaning that having a strength in a level isn't necessarily the only requirement."

"That is correct. Many Rookie Digimon have been able to cross the barrier," added Renamon, "so your dream isn't impossible."

"Then I will continue my journey until I reach that Human World. I wish you safe travel, my friends," finished Meramon, as he left, jumping back up onto one of the pillars.

"Let's settle for camp guys, it's been a long day," suggested Takato.

(Time Change)

A few hours later found Takato still studying the night sky, and the Earth that acted as the stationary body in the sky. For something he had seen several times before, it really didn't cease to amaze. Suddenly, his Hazard Sense went on alert. Something powerful was coming, and it was coming fast.

"Guys, wake up!" called out Takato, getting into a ready stance.

Henry, who was already awake followed suit while the Jeri and Rika woke up a bit Groggy, though Rika's training allowed her to snap awake first.

"Guys, we have company!" informed Rika, pulling out her Digivice, "Jagamon: Ultimate Level. Their Plant Digimon that travel in herds."

"We should move, get to higher ground to avoid them," ordered Takato, harnessing a bit of Hazard Power into Guilmon and getting Rika onto his back before starting to climb up, with Henry and Terriermon holding onto Guilmon doing the same thing.

Leomon grabbed Jeri and whatever items remained on the ground and jumped up himself as Renamon made the trip while holding Kazu and Kenta by their jackets, which thankfully didn't rip due to Renamon's grip placement.

The Jagamon were closing in at high speeds and racing through the area. Meramon, who had been nearby, but giving the humans some space, started attacking the Jagamon for invading his 'territory'.

"Meramon stop it! They're just passing through!" called out Takato, but it was too late.

The Jagamon's group was large enough that a small amount diverged and trampled Meramon, leaving nothing but Data exploding. That Jagamon didn't even care, they just continued on.

"That... that was..." started a wide-eyed Jeri, before Leomon turned her head towards his chest for comfort.

"It's all too common here, Jeri, I'm sorry you had to see that," apologized her partner.

"The Digital World can seem far crueler then you'd expect. Nothing like the TV show, that's for sure," added Renamon.

(Time Change)

The following morning, Tweedledee and Tweedledum... Kazu and Kenta woke up having slept through the whole thing oblivious to the loss of Meramon's life in the night, until they noticed the others setting up a small marker for Meramon, with an expert drawing by the artist himself.

"What happened here?" asked Kazu.

"Meramon was killed last night, by the Jagamon," informed Rika, in a rather callous manner.

"Hey, Jagamon, we'd like to ask you guys something," said Takato, getting a Jagamon's attention, who popped up out of the ground.

"We're looking for this Digimon, known as Calumon," said Takato, showing Calumon's picture, before replacing it with Makuramon, "He was taken by the Deva, Makuramon.

"DEVA!" exclaimed the Jagamon, getting a unified echo by the others who popped their heads out of the ground.

"You saw Makuramon?" asked Henry.

"Yes, the Deva. We saw the Monkey Deva," explained the Jagamon.

"Where did he go?" asked Takato.

"That way," replied the Jagamon, and the group pointed in unison to their right. It was the first step towards finding their friend.

"Don't you think it's strange that Makuramon didn't have Calumon with him?" asked Jeri.

"They might have gotten separated during the trip," proposed Henry, providing a rational explanation, "We got separated rather easily on our way here thanks to a small data surge."

"Alright team, let's pack up and move out," declared Takato, taking up leadership role, "We have our heading, so once we're ready, let's move out!"

With that, the group proceeded to organize their things and started out towards where Makuramon went, looking to find their lost friend. But only time will tell if they can actually do that.

(Chapter End)

Howdy, the last... well, the part with Meramon is where I kinda hit a roadblock... for 3 years. Well, hopefully the opening is still appropos, even if the Doctor has changed two faces since then. I'm sorry this is a bit shorter than the other chapters, this is a transitory chapter into the Digital World, and covering one-and-a-half episodes in the course of three years is very underwhelming, but please stay with me! Longer chapters are on their way!

This is going up with a reminder to check out my profile for an update, so check it out, even if it's short.

Merry Christmas and Happy all the other Holidays you choose to celebrate! Until the new year! See you guys... THEN!
