Final chapter :'(
I'm going to miss this story so much I can't even tell you. The song I used in this chapter is When You're Gone by Avril Lavigne Disclaimer: I don't own When you're gone. It's such a sad but beautiful song.

Disclaimer: I don't own Victorious.

Luckily for Beck and Jade the Dusk Dance Off had been held on a Friday so the newly reunited couple spent all weekend familiarising themselves with each other again and this involved lots and lots of kissing. On Sunday morning Jade woke in the RV with Beck's arm around her waist the way she liked it and she rolled over and snuggled tighter against his body. Beck woke briefly because of the movement and just smiled pressing his face into her hair before falling back to sleep. They both wished they could stay like this forever.

Later that day Jade decided it was finally time to return to her house. Although she would have happily spent another night cuddling up to Beck, as of recently her relationship with her parents was much better and she knew her mother would want to see her face at least once that weekend. Beck wanted her to stay but he understood she wanted to see her Mum and let her go.

On Monday morning Beck met Jade at her locker, coffee in hand. Accepting one of the two cups, Jade took a sip of her coffee before kissing Beck appreciatively. Beck smiled into the kiss, her lips tasting of a combination of coffee and the mintyness of her toothpaste.

'Good morning' Jade licked her lips seductively as they broke apart. Beck ran a hand through his long hair and waited for Jade to finish taking books out of her locker before taking her hand and walking across the hall to where there friends were huddled together pretending not to be watching the couple.

'Hey where did you two disappear to after your dance? We wanted to congratulate you' Tori exclaimed as soon as the couple approached the group.

'Congratulate us?' Beck asked confused.. Had Jade told them they were back together? If she had, she hadn't told him.

'You came first' Andre added, noticing Beck's disoriented expression. Beck was really confused now.

'Huh?' Beck looked dazed.

'In the dance off babe' Jade gave her boyfriend a bemused look and shook her head at the floor, hiding her smile.

'Oh, we won? Wow!' Beck said lackadaisically, finally catching on to what everyone was talking about. The others raised eyebrows at him, it wasn't like Beck to act so distrait.

'Ignore Beck.. he's tired' Jade looked up at him frowning and he shook his head at her indicating he didn't want to dwell on it. The group of friends quickly changed the subject. Cat told them yet another extravagant story about her brother and Andre explained some advanced music theory test he was sitting before the bell rang, signaling it was time for first lesson.

'What's up?' Jade whispered to Beck as they walked with Tori and Cat down the corridor.

'Nothing' Beck shrugged, wrapping an arm around Jades shoulders.

'You keep spacing out' Jade informed him, questioning his earlier behaviour.

'Do I?' Beck said distractedly, 'Sorry' he added and Jade frowned as he removed his arm from around her shoulder and headed despondently towards his English classroom.

Jade had every intention of pulling Beck into the car park at lunch and driving him somewhere so they could talk privately but the next time she saw him he seemed a lot perkier so she dropped it. At the end of lunch the couple were hugging and smiling, just talking quietly together in the corridor when Andre approached them and narrowed his eyes noticing how much more comfortable they where around each other now.

'Something's changed' Andre said suspiciously, as the pair startled by their friends voice broke apart a little.

'No it hasn't' Beck shrugged, smirking at Jade who was sneakily drawing shapes on his back with her finger tip and gradually getting lower.

'Hey!' Beck jumped as she pinched his bum unexpectedly and she blinked innocently up at him as he shook his head, taking tight hold of both her wandering hands.

'Did something happen between you guys after the dance?' Andre grinned, looking between his two friends with a knowing look 'You know what I'm saying?'

'Dude!' Beck cried as Jade just shook her head and frowned at his intrusive question. Andre smirked before turning to face Jade.

'You coming to song writing?'

'Yeah just a sec' Jade said before turning to Beck and kissing him fully on the lips. Andre raised his eyebrows. Alright.. Beck and Jade are back together he made himself a mental note.

'See you at yours later? Jade confirmed with Beck before following Andre down the corridor in the direction of their song writing class.

As soon as the class got started and everyone began working on their individual projects Jade got up from her seat and made her way over to their teachers desk. Anthony was sat listening to a demo but stopped when he noticed the pale girl standing there with a couple of pieces of paper in her hands.

'I've been working on something' Jade said simply.

'Oh yeah?' Anthony asked casually, trying not to sound euphoric that his best student had finally written something again.

'I just wondered if you'd mind taking a look at the sheet?' Jade asked just as calmly.

'I am your teacher, that's what I'm here for' Anthony smiled accepting the paper from the black haired girl as she rolled her eyes and swiftly returned to her seat. Anthony looked over the song for a good 20 minutes before approaching Jades desk. He pulled a chair next to the dark haired girl who almost looked uncomfortable as he placed the sheet music back in front of her.

'You're very talented Jade West' Anthony said simply.

'Err.. thanks' Jade said looking at her teacher confused, usually he would just write comments and then hand the sheet music back.

'Look, I have a friend who's a top manager at KS Records and Music Publishing coming tomorrow afternoon' Anthony continued as Andre's jaw dropped suddenly tuning into the conversation, 'I don't normally do this, but I honestly believe you have a shot Jade.'

'I don't know' Jade mumbled picking at the black polish on her nails.

'Jade! What are you saying? You have to do it! Its KSR&M!' Andre cried fervently.

'If you perform this song for him tomorrow, theres a good chance he will buy this song, leaving you in a very positive position in the company' Anthony informed her. 'If he likes what he hears which I'm extremely certain he will, you'll probably get signed.'

'Jade you've got to do it!' Andre exclaimed.

'Sh shh' Anthony hushed the excited teenager and focused on Jade. He couldn't help but notice the terrified look on her face and wondered what it was about this song that was making her so unglued.

'It's not that I don't want it, I really, really want it.. It's just my boyfriend' Jade explained letting go of a breath she'd been holding since Anthony had approached her. Anthony nodded, the lyrics were personal. He knew what Beck had been through recently and reading through the lyrics, he knew a lot of them must have been inspired by recent events.

'But do you think he'd really want you to miss out on this?' Anthony asked cautiously

'Of course he wouldn't. But he's just not.. I don't know. The lyrics are too much, it's too personal'

'Let me hear the song' Andre spoke softly to the pale girl who's blue eyes flickered up to meet his.

'Andre-' Jade groaned.

'Come on, please? Acoustic guitar yeah?' Andre stood up grabbing a guitar from the stands. Jade folded her arms and considered it. Guessing it wouldn't hurt to just sing it once. Taking the sheet music back from Anthony she followed Andre into the nearby practice room.

'Her boyfriend?' Tori grinned in Cat's direction and Cat giggled and tapped the side of her nose knowingly.

Jade pulled into the driveway of her boyfriend's house and quickly made her way over to the RV. She had stayed behind at school, practising the song she wrote with Andre and somehow between him and Anthony, they had convinced her to perform the song tomorrow She was going to talk to Beck about it because although the song was probably the best she'd ever written, it was because of the emotion she'd put into it. Jade didn't bother knocking, she just let herself into the RV like she usually did but when she opened the door, the lights were off and the vehicle was pitch black. Jade squinted her eyes until she faintly made out the outline of her boyfriend lying on the bed.

'Hey sorry I'm late, I got caught up in songwriting' Jade said softly, 'Why are the all lights off?'

'No reason' Beck said dismissively, not moving from his position on the bed. Jade frowned, wondering why he was suddenly acting all distant again. Jade slipped off her boots before laying down on the bed next to her boyfriend and placing an arm around him gently.

'You okay?' Jade asked concerned.

'Yeah' Beck replied instantly

'Really?'

'Really.'

'Why don't I believe you?' Jade asked, rubbing her hand up and down his arm. Beck shrugged not giving a definite answer.

'Beck you've been spaced out all day' Jade said worriedly, referring to his behaviour this morning and now this. Beck didn't respond.

'Talk to me' Jade turned so she was looking into his face but he just stared blankly at the ceiling. She had no idea how to help him. He just wouldn't let her in.

'If it's about your Mum-' she continued.

'Jade would you just drop it? Please just drop it!' Beck finally snapped. Jade was slightly hurt and rolled away from him dejectedly. Beck sighed and pulled her back, wrapping his arms around her body.

'I'm sorry' he said genuinely.

'It's ok' Jade said closing her eyes and just holding him. She knew from his reaction she'd guessed correctly but it still hurt, especially knowing there was nothing she could do to help.

The thing with loss is it comes back in waves. One day you're fine and then suddenly it hits you, that realisation that that person isn't there anymore. You'll never see them again. You'll never talk to them again. You'll never have another one of those mum hugs, the ones that make you feel safe. You only have one Mum and once she's gone, you never get her back.

Truthfully Jade had been the perfect distraction. He'd been so occupied by his feelings for her, the love between them and the taste of her lips. But without the constant, nagging thoughts of will I ever get her back distracting him, his mind had more time to wander. And it had a tendency to wander to the darkest corners of his head. He hated feeling like this.

'I changed my mind about the song' Jade informed Andre the moment she saw him in school the next day.

'Why?' Andre asked confused. Jade just looked over towards Beck sadly, who was sitting on the steps drinking coffee and looking just as glum as he did yesterday.

'What's happened?' Andre asked solemnly.

'Nothing' Jade shook her head and looked down 'I just don't think he'll be okay with this right now'

'Have you talked to him about it?' Andre asked understandingly. Jade shook her head.

'No, but he's upset, he won't talk to me'

'Want me to talk to him?' Andre offered and Jade bit her lip considering it.

'I don't know' Jade placed a hand on her forehead, 'Ugh this is such a mess, what am I going to tell Anthony?'

'What if Beck just didn't hear the song?' Andre suggested simply but Jade shook her head.

'That would never work' Jade asserted, walking back over to her boyfriend who smiled as she sat down next to him and kissed her lips lightly. Andre frowned. He couldn't let Jade give this up, it was such a huge opportunity that could change her life. But Andre knew the only way she was going to agree to perform it was if she was 100% sure Beck was okay with it and that was impossible to know if she refused to tell him about it. That was when Andre suddenly had an idea.

It was 3pm; half an hour before Jade had agreed to meet Anthony and his friend in the Black Box Theatre. And Andre had gathered Cat, Tori and Robbie in the janitors closet to put his plan in to action. Cat and Tori were going to trick Jade into heading to the Black Box, whilst Robbie distracted Anthony. Meanwhile, Andre was going to have a little talk with Beck eventually persuading him to join the others in the Black Box. He and Jade would perform the song to Anthony's friend who would love it, buy it and everyone would be happy.

As soon as the final bell rang the four friends split off. Andre waited anxiously next to Beck's locker knowing it was always the first place he went after class. Andre waited but Beck didn't show up. Trust him to choose today to change his routine! Andre thought to himself. He was almost about to leave when he noticed Jade walking down the stairs towards her locker.

'Jade what are you doing? Where's Tori and Cat?!' Andre cried! How had the plan gone so drastically wrong? Jade frowned, having no idea what her friend was talking about.

'I'm putting books in my locker' Jade looked at him strangely before turning and putting in her combination.

'No. Come on! We have to go now!' Andre shook his head and grabbed her wrist pulling her in the direction of the theatre.

'He's kidnapping me you all see it! Kidnapper! Kidnapper!' Jade screamed, trying to pull away from Andre's grip but he was much stronger and much more determined.

'Get off me!' Jade shouted as Andre pulled he along the corridor. Suddenly Beck appeared at the other end of the corridor and he frowned seeing what was going on.

'Woah get off her, what's going on?' Beck intervened pulling Jade into his arms, shocked that his best friend would drag her around like that.

'Beck there's no time to explain but trust me, Jade needs to go to the Black Box now and sing her song!' Andre cried out of breath.

'What song?' Beck turned to his girlfriend who was looking away guiltily.

'I wrote a song' Jade admitted quietly. 'Anthony's friend kind of might want to buy it'

'And Anthony's friend just so happens to be a top manager at KS Records and Music Publishing!' Andre added frantically.

'Why didn't you say!' Beck exclaimed grabbing Jades other hand as both boys pulled her in the direction of the black box despite her protests.

'No Beck, please. You don't understand!' Jade insisted, finally breaking free from the two guys grip just before they reached the theatre. Andre ran inside giving the couple a moment alone.

'What's wrong Jade? This is amazing!' Beck exclaimed looking into her face excitedly 'You're incredible. You know this guy will sign you and possibl-'

'It's about your Mum!' Jade blurted out closing her eyes, unable to take seeing his reaction.

'Wait what?' Beck asked in confusion.

'The song. Is about. Your Mum.' Jade confessed pinching the bridge of her nose 'Well partly. It's about the breakup too, you and me, everything.' Jade continued still not meeting his eye.

'Wow' said Beck after a long minute of silence.

'Look, I'm sorry. It was insensitive, I never should have wrote it, I won't perform it' Jade crossed her arms, her voice small.

'Jade' Beck said stepping closer to the dark haired girl and putting a finger beneath her chin until she looked up into his eyes. 'Sing it.'

'But Beck, you're not okay with it.. Yesterday you were completely closed up. You can tell me your fine all you want but I was the one who watched you cry and hurt and I'm not going to be the one to cause that' Jade shook her head frowning.

Beck exhaled thinking about his words carefully. 'Look, yesterday was rough. But I'm okay. I miss my mum, but that doesn't mean we should stop living. You know my Mum would want this for you Jade; you're special. You take your feelings and you make them into something beautiful.' Beck intertwined his hands with hers and looked her straight in the eyes. 'And I'm not going to be the one to hold you back.'

'Beck-' Jade began to protest

'Listen to me' Beck interrupted 'I want you to sing this song. I need to hear it.'

Beck stepped closer to her and kissed her lips softly. His final attempt to prove to her that he was ok with it. When they broke apart Jade looked up into Beck's warm eyes and saw he truly meant what he was saying.

'Guys, sorry to ruin the moment but you have like five minutes to get on that stage or else he's leaving' Andre poked his head back out of the door of the theatre

'Go, go!' Beck encouraged her, following them both into the theatre. Jade and Andre quickly went backstage as Beck took a seat near the back to watch.

Inside the Black Box, Anthony along with a man dressed in a very expensive looking suit were sat in the front seats. Beck recognised this guy from all the important showcases he'd attended at school and he knew he was extremely influential in the music business. His heart pounded in his chest knowing this guy could seriously make Jades dreams a reality. The side door crept open and in tiptoed Cat, Tori and Robbie who sat down in the empty seats next to Beck.

'Hi I'm Jade West' Jade said confidently, centre stage and facing Anthony and his friend. Quickly glancing towards the back of the room to Beck and their friends who were smiling proudly. 'This is my friend Andre Harris, he's playing the guitar and I'll be singing and playing piano' Jade continued.

'Nice to meet you Jade, I'm Ross Moore.' Anthony's friend introduced himself 'Your teacher has said amazing things about you. I've always been skeptical about high school students so this is your chance to prove me wrong. What's the song called?'

'When you're gone' Jade said quietly, glancing at Beck. Who immediately smiled reassuring her that he wanted to hear it.

'Good Luck' Ross said, typing something quickly on the pear pad in front of him. Jade nodded suddenly feeling nervous and she looked over at Andre who had taken a seat on the stool next to the piano holding his guitar. Jade took a deep breath and sat down at the piano. Her hands shook as she straightened out the sheet music that was in front of her and she closed her eyes briefly for a moment, attempting to calm herself down. And then she played.

I always needed time on my own
I never thought I'd need you there when I cried
And the days feel like years when I'm alone
And the bed where you lie
Is made up on your side

When you walk away I count the steps that you take
Do you see how much I need you right now?

When you're gone
The pieces of my heart are missing you
When you're gone
The face I came to know is missing too
When you're gone
The words I need to hear to always get me through the day
And make it OK
I miss you

Beck felt like his heart had stopped as he listened to the lyrics whole-heartedly. He knew how talented his girlfriend was but he had never expected the song to cut right to the core of his feelings like these lyrics did. Her voice was hypnotising and intense. She glanced over at him once again and Beck smiled back at her encouragingly.

I've never felt this way before
Everything that I do reminds me of you
And the clothes you left, they lie on the floor
And they smell just like you,
I love the things that you do

We were made for each other
Out here forever
I know we were, yeah, yeah
And all I ever wanted was for you to know
Everything I do, I give my heart and soul
I can hardly breathe, I need to feel you here with me, yeah.

Beck was completely still taking in every word Jade sang. The intensity of his feelings must of shown because Cat and Tori both grabbed his left hand by this point seeing how affected he was by the song and he smiled at them, letting them know he was ok.

When you're gone
The pieces of my heart are missing you
When you're gone
The face I came to know is missing too
When you're gone
The words I need to hear will always get me through the day
And make it OK
I miss you

Jade put everything she had into the performance and once it was over she quickly wiped the tears away from her eyes in order to remain composed for Ross. But the manager was smiling and he turned to face Anthony and nodded.

'Congratulations Jade' Ross said simply, 'I'll be in touch, but I can safely say.. I will purchase your song and if you'd consider it, come down to my office and we can talk about a contract, if thats what you want'

Jades hands flew to her mouth in shock as she looked up at her boyfriend who was just smiling back at her proudly. Ross pointed back at her before exiting the theatre with Anthony who was also grinning crazily. As soon as the door to the theatre closed shut, Jade jumped down from the stage and ran towards her boyfriend who had already stood making his way over to her. Jade ran into his arms and he caught her and wrapped his arms around her consumingly as she shook slightly from the shock of everything that just happened.

'Have I told you that I love you lately?' Beck asked once they finally broke apart. The corner of Jades lips tilted upwards and a beautiful smile completely overtook her face as Beck brushed a strand of her hair away from her face and tucked it behind her ear. His heart was swelling, unsure if he'd ever been more in love than this moment.

'I love you' Beck grinned and Jade wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him ardently. The rest of their friends came over and joined in with the hugging and congratulations. Beck still had a way to go before he'd truly be back to normal after the death of his Mum but for now he had his friends and he had Jade, a person who cared more about him than even her dreams. And Jade was finally happy, her talent for songwriting recognised and potentially her career as a musician about to kick start. The six friends left the Black box on their way to Nozu for a spontaneous, celebratory meal, completely euphoric.

The thing with Beck and Jade was that at first glance you couldn't see it. The couple weren't faultless. They would argue, snap and roll their eyes at each other and most people after first meeting them wondered how on earth they had lasted this long. But if you got to know them, you would realise that Beck and Jade were the perfect fit. They were in love. You could tell from the way they took care of each other, from their hopeless inability to remain mad at each other or stay apart for longer than a couple of days. You could feel it from just being near them. They were soul mates.

So this is the end of the second multi-chapter fan fiction I've ever written and the support you guys gave me on it was overwhelming. I reread Just In Case the other day and I was so shocked how much my writing has changed and grown and it's honestly because you guys motivated me so much to keep writing so thank you all so much!

I'm still not sure whether i'm going to write an epilogue or a
sequel for this yet but let me know which you would prefer and if you feel like it, check out my other bade story I'll Take Care of You. It's a longer story than this one but with a similar writing style.

THANK YOU FOR READING!
Lots of love from Livi (vanillaandtoothpaste) xx
