Chapter 10

Just a Dream

Several days have passed since the Piccaninny attacked the camp and many things have changed. Since half the camp had been burned away many of the lost boys have been bunking together; including Dani who had been living with Peter for the past week. Since the house he made for her was gone he decided that she was going to stay with him from now on. Of course she didn't like it at first. She wanted to live with either Slightly or the twins, but as it stood, Peter's place was the largest and most practical to take, especially since none of them knew what was lurking in the shadows now a days. So she decided to go along and live with him, but only if she got her own room. She was going to budge on that.

They all knew something attacked the tribe, but no one knew what, and honestly, Danielle was scared. Peter had more rules now. The boys were on high alert, and everyone was to stay closer to camp now. No one was to be by themselves anymore and as for Danielle, she wasn't even allowed to leave camp. Sure that pissed her off at first, but truth be told, she didn't mind. The last thing she wanted was to be out and about after losing the tribe the way they did. Most of the time she didn't every try to leave her bed much less the camp, so really it didn't matter.

In a few days, her deal with Peter would be up and she would go home and forget about this whole mess. Well, at least that's what she told herself. Truth was Danielle wasn't sure if she could just go home and pretend none of this happened. While she lost so much here, she also gained much as well. A home, friends, a family. Everything she wanted, but at what cost.

She had been contemplating Tinkerbelle's words of late. 'All magic come with a Price. Especially wishes. Could it be possible that her wish had something to do with the destruction of the Piccaninny tribe? Could it? Danielle laid on her side in the new bed Peter had given her and contemplated the thought. She would never forgive herself if she did, but at the same time if it was it should be up to her to make amends. She had to find what did this and stop it before Pan and his boys suffered the same fate, but that would mean staying…

Peter warned her once a while back that once she decided, she couldn't go back on her choice. She would either stay with them forever, or not at all. Danielle didn't like the idea of staying here forever. Forever was such an awfully long time, but perhaps it was worth it. What honestly did she have to go back to? No home? No nothing? If she stayed she could help the boys, protect them, never grow old, stay with Peter…

Danielle shook her head of the last thought and made herself fall asleep. She didn't want to think about this anymore.

Peter searched around the island, but still had no luck finding Facilier. The damn bastard was still on the loose. Once Peter was done circling around the island for the tenth time, he finally landed on Deadman's Peak and let out a frustrated scream. Now that some time has passed, the absence of the Piccaninny had finally settled in and Peter was angry. It would never ever leave his lips, but he did… value the Tribe. When he first came to Neverland, they took him in, taught him to live off the land. Hell, Tigerlily could even be consider his first real friend that he ever made! Now they were gone. Gone. Gone. Gone! And it was all his fault.

With his former mentor in the wind, Peter and his lost ones weren't safe. After what happened between the two of them all those years ago, back when they two of them arrived in Neverland, no doubt the old man was out for blood, but guess what? So Was Peter. That man ruined his life, took away everything he ever loved, and now Peter meant to have his revenge.

Few people have been able to best him in the past 300 years. He had always been on top, ten steps ahead of everyone else, but these days it seemed like he's always a step behind. Morgana defeated him and made him get rid of Wendy, now the tribe is gone along with nearly half his boys. He should have saw all that coming. He was losing his touch…

As soon as Peter thought that, he noticed that the island became a bit darker. He almost panicked for a second, but quickly collected himself and the light was restored. The last thing he needed was for the island to fall apart on him right now because he weak. He needed to keep himself calm. Or Angry. Either worked really. So long he kept it together a few more weeks, it'd all be okay. Just a few more weeks and everything will be okay.

Once he has his hands on the heart of the truest believer, balance will be restored to Neverland and he and his lost ones would finally know peace. No one, not Facilier, the mermaids, nor Morgana will ever be a threat to them again. They'd all be happy.

Forever.

Deep under the Never Ocean, the old sea witch Morgana was mixing a potion in her cauldron. She had been working on it for a while now, ever since her mermaids returned and it was almost complete. Peter had refused to get rid of his new little she-brat and thus was breaking their deal, now the witch was going to take things into her own hands. With one drop of this potion, she'd get rid of the little teen and the threat that came with her. She just had to pour in one more thing and-

"Why hello there." A deep voice spoke behind her.

The witch jumped and spun around, readying her magic and octopus tentacles for anything. Much to her surprise, she saw no one. She looked around her underwater cave, there wasn't anybody there.

"Over here." The voice spoke again.

This time Morgana looked up and saw that above her head was a shadow, one with purple eyes. "Who are you? What do you want?" The old sea witch narrowed her eyes. She knew Peter's shadows, they may all look the same, but all of them had yellow eyes, not purple ones.

"Straight to the point." It chuckled slowly as it descended to ground. "I like that in a woman. It's so difficult now a days to find someone so direct."

"Answer the questions." She growled. "Are you in league with Peter and his boys?"

The shadowed laughed as if she had just said the punch line of a joke, "Oh Lady Morgana, I can assure you that there are no positive ties between Peter and I, in fact-" The shadow circled around her, "-You can almost say I want him gone just as much as you do."

"really?" The witch placed a hand on her hip and arched a brow, "Why is that?"

"I have my reason, just like you do."

"And let me guess, you want to start a partnership? I'm sorry, chum, but I don't need your help." The witch waved him off and returned back to her potion, "I can deal with Peter and his crew just fine on my own."

"You think that threatening the girl with that sleeping curse you have there is going to do you any good?" The shadow floated to the other side of the cauldron, "He won't rid of her that easy. Let me tell you."

"It worked the last time." The witch countered.

"That girl, Wendy, she was different. She didn't matter to him." The shadow replied, "Danielle on the other hand… He will not give up as easy."

"Is that so?" The witch looked back to him, "Tell, why is this one different?"

"Well I think it's fairly obvious by now Peter has developed a special attachment to the girl, but that only half the reason."

"Then what's the other half?"

"She can find the heart of the truest believer."

Morgana's jaw dropped.

Danielle was in a forest, but oddly it wasn't the one in Neverland. In fact she wasn't quite sure where she was. Instead of a humid jungle, the trees were thin and tall and honestly it all looked beautiful. She was just standing there admiring the scenery for a second when she felt a pair of arms wrap around her from behind. She thought she would have jumped and fought back against whoever grabbed her, but then she realized they felt familiar and safe.

"So what do you think, Princess? Does this look like a good place?" A deep British voice spoke in her ear playfully, Danielle instantly knew it was Peter.

She looked back up at him and smiled, "Yup, it's beautiful! I can really see us being happy here."

"Good, cause so can I." He grinned, and brought his lips down on hers. Danielle was confused as to what was going on and why she was letting Peter kiss her, but she wasn't complaining. The boy knew what he doing.

Just then the scene went black and disappeared from sight and was replaced by a rather different one. The both of them were back in Neverland again and it was incredibly dark. There weren't even stars in the sky.

Instead of him holding her in his arm, she was holding him this. No actually, she was cradling him against her while he just laid in the ground, not moving or… b-breathing.

"I'm so sorry Peter!" She sobbed, "I love you! I am so sorry! I'm so sorry!" She started rocky back and forward.

"Danielle…" A gentle hand placed itself on her shoulder. She looked up to see a blond woman that she's never seen on the island before, "I'm sorry, but we have to go. Now."

"I know." Danielle's voice cracked as she spoke, "I know."

"Come on then." The woman pulled her away from Peter and led her into the jungle with two other black haired women.

Danielle instantly shot up in bed, breathing heavily. She didn't move or talk till she wrapped her arms around herself and tried to calm down and make sense of what she just dreamed. Okay she admitted to liking Peter, but why would she dream about him dying? Was this some kind of warning? Was something going to happen to him? Could she stop it?

Or was she just over reacting to a simple nightmare? Yeah. Yeah that was it. It had to be. It just a dream after all.
