A/N: Hi, this is Colonel reporting for duty! I know you would like to shoot me again, but just listen to me first, okay? School work is tough, and I am failing in tests, particularly Physics, which is a big pain in the neck. But except for school work, I have refined my storyline and added a few new characters in the story(You won't see them here in this chapter, sorry) So that explains the lateness in updating. Still, I really hope you continue to support me and remember to add a favorite or leave a comment! It doesn't hurts!(Put on helmet and bulletproof vest) Bye!
42 days before 10th Millennium
It was morning.
The trees shone in the sunlight, its leaves covered in droplets of water from the rain last night. As the golden rays started to seeped into the serene lands, the different mobs of the night quickly retreated into dark caves, hissing in the pain inflicted by the sun.
Steve looked out of the window. He saw the peaceful scene and immediately smiled. Humming a merry tune, he quickly took out some bread and raw pork chops from a chest and began to cook them. Soon, the wave of aroma drifted through the house, waking the hungry individuals in the house. Soon, everyone was up and prowling about.
' What's for breakfast, Steve?' Abdiel asked in an enthusiastic voice as he stretched himself. Trinity stumbled into the kitchen, rubbing her eyes groggily, while Notch strode in energetically besides Trinity.
Steve ignored Abdiel, rather concentrating on cooking the pork chops evenly. He said while rummaging the chest for eggs.
' Well, maybe you and Trinity could go out and get some firewood for me? I had just made some torches two days ago and I don't think I have enough coal now. The axe is in the chest next to the door.'
Notch and Abdiel both looked at each other, not willing to go out to the chilling morning air to gather wood. After a simple round of rock-paper-scissors, Notch won and Abdiel went out with Abdiel, mumbling something about that Notch could simply create wood from thin air. Steve chuckled as he continued to fry the pork oil on the pan bubbled and sizzled, creating a cacophony of popping sounds.
Steve had just finished frying the pork chops when Notch, who was standing behind him, spoke.
'Steve, you remembered that I had something to tell you last night?'
The miner turned around and faced Notch, unintentionally locking eyes with Notch.
'Yes. What is it?'
'Well... What I am trying to tell you is...' Notch's words was swallowed by a subsonic boom. Glass panes shattered in the huge shock, random stuff went flying in different directions, and fissions appeared in the rooftop. Steve narrowly dodged the frying pan, which fell onto the ground, splattering the floor with boiling oil. Notch and Steve stood up from the ground and ran out of the kitchen double time and did so before the tremors started
' What happened?' Steve asked Abdiel, his voice nearly inaudible in the noise of the blocks which was crashing down in the second floor.
' Ask questions later, Steve! The structure of this building is unstable! Just get out of here, everyone!' Notch commanded. Everyone ran out of the building just before the whole building collapsed into wooden shards and different kind of debris. The ambient dust created made the group cough uncontrollably.
' Abdiel! What happened just now?'
'Well, we were chopping wood in the forest edge when we saw a huge asteroid-like thing falling down from the skies. But it's outline is a city...' Abdiel's eyes widened as he realized the truth.' Is that...'
' Yes. It is an Aetherian city. There is much to explain, and we must go to the city and search for survivors. I would explain everything on the way.' Notch said with a voice of urgency.
The stable, which was located beside the house, was miraculously undamaged, save for a few scratches from the debris. Steve had charged Abdiel and Trinity with the task of taking the horses, while he and Notch rummaged the wreckage of the house for supplies. They had decided to meet outside the destroyed house when they had finished.
Steve was astonished by the raw force needed to destroy the house. Although his house was made mainly of wood, he had studied architecture in Minecraft University, a prestigious school, and had graduated with a Honor. But his house was totally crushed in the shockwave created by the blow. Luckily, with Notch's help, they managed to recover some potion, a few swords, and some food. Steve had also recovered a chest filled with rusty armor pieces, but after a while of polishing, the armor was as good as new. They were joined by Abdiel and Trinity after, who led Sierra, Storm and two other horses with them. Steve was about to get some golden apples for Trinity and Notch when Notch set both his hands on the horses, his hands glowing slightly, like the time he cured Trinity. But this time his hands glowed a cool purple hue and a second later, the horses were tamed to Notch and Trinity.
The group mounted their horses and set course for the human city. As they neared the city, they could see a trickle of smoke rising into the sky. Fire could be seen in the forest foliage around the city. The once livid city had been reduced to ashes and a deadly silence had settle on the city. Cracked stone brick blocks, which was the remaining of the great city walls which once surrounded the city, were strewn everywhere. The town library burnt in the distance with a red, angry flame. Some buildings had crashed down and blocked roads around the city. The sole landmark of the city, the City Hall, had been completely obliterated. What only remained was a pile of burnt wood chippings and rock fragment. Curiously, shards of pink and purple minerals were also present. And bodies were also everywhere, some even wearing diamond armor, which was useless in defending against the impact. Broken tools were also ubiquitous around the city, indicating many failed escape attempts.
'We should spread out and possibly look for survivors, someone must have survived this... disaster.' Steve said bluntly. But Notch had detected a strange presence. Steve was about to leave when Notch saw them. A band of ten skeletons, clad in charred iron armor, probably found on the ground. They had just came out from a back alley and found the group.
'Don't move.' Notch advised with a warning tone. The group abruptly turned back and saw the skeletons loading arrows into their bows. Steve and Abdiel both put their hands on the hilt of their swords while Trinity readied her bow and arrow which she had found on the ground.
The skeletons made a bony grin, then with a swift move, they fired.
