Something kind of old dug up from my tumblr; in which Captain Fee left behind an AI copy of herself lurking in the Axiom's main computer, as well as an android body for a certain autopilot. This is immediately after Auto's uploaded to his new shell; while he stays online for a handful of seconds, the inevitable sensory overload knocks him out for a bit...

"The ship's computer is haunted, and Auto is suddenly human... I'm still sleeping, I know I am."

"Haunted? Not exactly, though the death record in the ship's logs is accurate. I just left this and that new shell for Auto behind because I thought we humans owed it to him. I wasn't about to let him be shut down forever for something that wasn't his fault. I didn't want him to feel alone, either, at least so long as he was having a hard time trusting you again . . . and he will for a while, you did shut him off, after all."

"That would explain the passing out... or would that be 'crashing'?"

"No, that was my overestimating his ability to handle so many new inputs at once . . . he's never been IN a humanoid body before. BnL AIs are good at adapting in most circumstances, so that's just what he'll have to do. Oh look, he's coming online again already~"

Truth be told, McCrea still wasn't sure what to make of this, but he would try to make the best of it. He wanted to give Auto a second chance, right? It just turned out this digital copy of Captain Fee (as well as the original, all those hundreds of years ago) ended up acting before he could.
