Bella's POV

I wake up expecting Edward to still be in bed with me. It takes a second for my eyes to focus in the dark. I reach over to my bedside lamp switching it on. Wrapping the blanket around me I had out into the living room but he's not there. His clothes are gone and his shoes. Before my mind starts jumping to conclusions I put my robe on and go in search of my cell phone. I hear it ringing before I find it. That must be Edward calling me. I look at the unknown number on my phone before answering it.

"Hello?" I answer curious who it could be.

"Hello. I'm trying to reach Bella Crowley."

"This is she."

"Hi, Mrs. Crowley. We usually don't do this on a Saturday but we don't have much of a choice. My name is Rebecca and I'm calling from Wild Fields publishing in Tacoma, Washington. We received your resume a few days ago. It states your based in New York City but we were wondering if you could by any chance fly out here for an interview?"

"Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry that's my old resume. I live in Washington now. I'd be honored to come in for an interview."

"Is Monday afternoon too early for you?"

"No not at all. That's perfect. Thank you."

"We will see you Monday at say two?"

"I'll be there. Thank you again."

An interview. I have an interview. Wait. It's in Tacoma. That's over three hours away from here. I can't leave Forks now. I can't ask Edward to move either. It would be closer to Emma for him. That'll make it so much easier when she starts school. He can see her more often from Tacoma. I dial Edward's number to give him my good news when there's a knock on my door. That must be him.

I open the door to find Ethan and Tyler's mom waiting.

"I'm sorry. I just about to jump in the shower."

"Bella, this is your home. You don't have to explain anything to me, honey."

I smile. "How was he today?"

"He has been a perfect angel. Thank you for allowing us to take him for the day. I hope you'll allow us the opportunity again."

"Of course. He's your grandson. You deserve time with him just as much as my dad. I would never deprive Ethan of knowing his family."

"I always liked you, honey. You are a smart sweet girl and you're stronger than you think. Raising this baby on your own could not have always been easy and I'm so sorry about my son. That boy was raised better."

"I know. It's not your fault."

She hands me a sleeping Ethan and places his bag inside the door. "If you need anything at all you call us. I don't care if you are my ex daughter in law. You are the mother of my grandson and we want to help any way we can."

"I really appreciate that. Thank you."

After I change Ethan and put him down for the night I can't help thinking about this job. How can I pull Ethan away from his grandparents when they just entered his life? That would unfair to him and them. I make myself dinner weighting the pros and cons. You don't have the job yet. One step at a time. While eating I realise I never called Edward. I pick up my phone and dial his number. It rings so long I'm afraid he isn't going to answer.

"Hi, Bella."

"You left today. Where did you go? I think you should have stayed so we could at least discuss things."

"I'm sorry."

"It's fine. Can you come over now? I have something I need to tell you."

"Bella, I…"

"It's important."

"Sure I'll be over in twenty minutes."

I clean my apartment trying to get my thoughts straight in my head. We can't not talk about this. Should we take things slow or keep doing what we're doing? Should I tell him about interview or wait until I have the job?

The knock startles me out of my musings. I answer it and before I can think it's out of my mouth.

"I have an interview in Tacoma on Monday."

"Bella, I can't see you anymore."

"What?"

"I applied to med school and I got accepted."

He's moving to New York. He doesn't have to say it. I know.
